Former Pfizer Marketing Vice President explains how Big Pharma controls the medical establishment

Lesson one: How to make a university into a PR wing of a multinational corporation

Start with lots of money

Big Pharma buys off the media critics with $15 billion a year, and they buy off the Government watchdog agencies too. But they also surround their Octopus tentacles around the academic towers as well. And it’s (mostly) all legal — indeed the companies can brag about the money they give for research…

Dr Peter Rost explains that the Big Multinational Corporations buy influence from every angle. Firstly they pay out grants for research. They help develop the research with academics. They also pay individuals directly — they pay them a speakers fee,  $1,000 – $2,000 a day.

You establish friends. You make them beholden to you…

You give them money for programs, educational programs, ones they make a profit from.

They are supposed to be third party and independent from the company, but everyone knows that the institutions that Big Pharma is more generous with are the same institutions that happen to say the things the company is happy about.

Even if you can officially claim — this is at arms length — they can do whatever they want with it. Reality is they are not going to continue to get money if they are not saying the things you want them to say.

They know it, you know it, it’s only maybe the public that doesn’t know it.

Thus do awkward experiments never get started and inexplicable results get left in the desk. Young researchers may not even be aware of the veil that filters the work. They come up with a great idea, the senior researcher pours cold water on it, because it sounds a bit risky, or controversial, and the real questions never get asked. And in the tea-rooms everyone else murmurs in agreement.

At best, our public institutions churn out press releases that are half the truth and mostly not what we really need to know.

At worst, they are disguised advertising machines. They appear to serve the public while they betray them. It is safe and effective.

Great science takes a supreme level of honesty.

That is how it works. And that is how it has worked for a very long time.

Ever since Professor Robert Clancy declared a black dday for Australian medicine when they banned Ivermectin I have been fearing that he might lose his funding/job for doing this.

We should pay attention. The matter is important.

Ever since Professor Robert Clancy declared a black day for Australian medicine when they banned Ivermectin I have been fearing that he might lose his funding/job for doing this.

Ted, my understanding is that Professor Clancy is retired – his title is actually “Emeritus”. However, I further understand that he is an advisory member of the TGA. Not that they listen to him!

In fact, it is mostly retired medical of research practitioners like Clancy (and Dr. Altman, who has written excellent articles on the vaccines and also Ivermectin in Quadrant Online) who are able to comment publicly without fear of loss of career/job/income.

      Thank God for them.

Yes and there are supposed to be ‘controls’/laws over the lobbying of US Elected Representatives. If so, then they don’t seem to be working. The other problem is the one of ‘Career Politicians’. They can be easily bought. Probably the same here in Australia.

And the FDA (TGA here) get funded by Big Pharma through fees and charges and then royalties on patents. What a racket with our Health. Scandalous.

Isn’t it just the Elite practicing Elitism?
I think maybe there was a 20th century brief parting of the clouds where most of us were led to believe ‘elite’ meant competent.
Particularly the post World War II social leveling.
    We had our fun.
The Elite are reestablishing traditional Elitism.

All institutions are corruptible, and sooner or later get corrupted because an institution’s first objective is to stay alive and, then, grow. And they’ll do virtually anything to achieve that objective, including cutting corners on the stated rationale for their existence. The more bureaucratized the institution, the quicker it will get corrupted.

Accordingly, just as some of us believe politicians should be term-limited, institutions should also be term-limited. For so-called charities this, IMO would mean revoking their tax-free status after, say, 15 years (or so).

      ” charities ”

This is a topic that needs an exposé — an exposure or a revelation of something discreditable.
One sees an occasional comment, but mostly the issues go unnoticed.
I’ve been thinking of such things while preparing a will.
      Thanks for mentioning it.

One example that comes to mind is that of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union, which was founded “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States”. But in 2017 it developed new guidelines which according to the New York Times (not always a trustworthy source, though) that “suggested lawyers should balance taking a free speech case representing right-wing groups whose ‘values are contrary to our values’ against the potential such a case might give ‘offense to marginalized groups.

Other examples would include all those so-called “philanthropies” that would reduce the well-being of Africans by denying them access to fossil fuel energy (thereby retarding their economic progress).

They evidently control politicians and the medical bureaucracy as well.

I highly recommend you read Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s book about Fauci et al. for extra information. It is an outstanding book, heavily referenced and hard to put down.

Finished that book last week. For some reason the price of its download dropped dramatically so it was a lot cheaper to buy. ( Apple Books ) It seemed like RFK had most of the book to go or pre- prepared and he has just added some update chapters for the last 2 1/2 years and COVID. The stuff about Fauci’s interference with AIDS research is incredible. I now understand why the film Dallas Buyers Club was made. We need similar buyers clubs for the likes of IVM, HCQ and all the other re-purposed products that have a role in COVID treatment.

Having one Big Pharma company or another control the medical establishment, politicians and the bureaucracy is only possible because of a regulatory system that causes it to happen due to massive over regulation.

Companies should of course be liable for any defective products they produce but the massive testing and poss only unreasonable requirements required due to regulation only encourage massive fraud in the testing process and do little to keep dangerous drugs off the market in any case.

The regulation also prevents possibly useful but not yet fully tested drugs be used by people with terminal diseases who will soon sadly die anyway but might be helped by experimental drugs. President Trump introduced legislation to allow that to happen in the US.

And all the possibly dangerous experimental vaccines for coronavirus still made it onto the market but with no liability whatsoever plus not only that, non-patented alternative treatments such as HCQ and IVM were banned as a condition of Big Pharma being exempted from liability as a conition of exemption was that there were no existing alternatives. All the legislation to “protect the consumer” did nothing in any case. People should have been allowed access to the experimental vaccines if they wanted but (a) should not have been forced to take them and (b) alternatives should not have been banned.

Barriers to entry into the pharmaceutical market should also be removed so smaller companies can enter. E.g. look at how TGA (Australia’s equivalent of the FDA) prevented that Australian company that invented a safe coronavirus vaccine from entering the market in Australia but I think they ended up selling it in Iran and maybe elsewhere.

I am bemused at how those who speak of “The Science” have absolutely no idea about how science works.
This article completely concurs with my experiences in medical research/publication/academia.
“The Science” is as capable of corruption as any other human endeavour and I have no doubt that Big Pharma uses this knowledge, and the gullibility of our gormless and/or Machiavellian leaders to manipulate the situation. One just needs a brief glance at the “Conflict of interest” declaration in any published medical research to see how widespread the practice is.

Ian, thanks. I have read about a third to a half. Some great lines. I wish they had a serious editor. This article would be so much better if it was a third of the length. The excess, lower grade claims dilute the core message. It needs discipline. By mixing lower caliber, dubious assertions with a scattergun approach a section of the audience will peel off and feel less motivated to support and share the message.

The points about lives that could have been saved, the soviet punishment of doctors, the lack of early treatment, the egregious control by administrators and the CDC etc over doctors, the distorted financial incentives, mortality figures and excess deaths — that is all powerful stuff. These are the issues we need to focus on.

            Ossqss? Are you the author?

Longer expositions are always more high risk. Packaging many claims together means that sooner or later many readers hit a speed bump where they think, whoa? Really? That’s the moment they lose interest, decide not to read more, not to forward it to a friend, or quote it. It’s the moment they start to wonder if the author has all the priorities lined up and has a discerning judgment.

Careful, short claims mean more readers will not hit that speed bump.

And what is a “legit” citation anyway in a world of corrupt journals on topics that are hideously, chaotically complicated with confounding factors (that’s everything in epidemiology). And some of the citations are just to magazines which may speak the 100% truth or may just be a cut n paste of a press release. The only citations that really matter are direct to data and observations.

          • #

Ian, and I’m not suggesting anything else. But, for example, if a paper makes 18 claims instead of 3, it’s very hard to defend all of them in anything less than a book. EG, Are babies IQ’s really 22 points lower after lockdowns, maybe they are, or maybe the tests were done with people in masks (I don’t know the answer), and babies didn’t perform to order?. The baby IQ is an interesting question but 22 points is a huge effect, and is better discussed properly not added in as an extra in a document which has good material of some of the most appalling medical crimes we have ever seen.

As Art Robinson said years ago here, the honesty we are talking about it is with ourselves.

The truth shall make you free

How many scientists at corrupt institutions have the honesty to admit to themselves they are only doing “convenient” experiments, are too afraid to speak up, or are captive to a system which no longer even allows them to search for the truth.

I would bet many pay the mortgage and the school fees, and lie to themselves because the price of honesty means risking either their career or their own personal sense of worth.

    Featuring covid in Oz

    “A memory hole gem”

“Australia has become a pandemic success story. The nation of 26 million is close to eliminating community transmission of the coronavirus, having defeated a second wave just as infections surge again in Europe and the United States.

“I never thought we would really get to zero, which is amazing,” said Sharon Lewin, the Melbourne-based director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, which provided forecasts in February that formed the basis of the Australian government’s response. “I’ve been going out nonstop, booking restaurants, shopping, getting my nails done and my hair cut.” ”

    Australia’s pharmaceutical regulator TGA has
a schedule of their charges here:

    https://www.tga.gov.au/fees-and-payments

They operate on a full cost recovery basis and the charges keep away any small competitors to Big Pharma, which is no doubt part of the plan.

And with high charges like that, why would anyone try to get a non-patented or non-patentable drug approved? Or even a patentable drug from a small company?

Ultimately, the TGA discourages pharmaceutical innovation and is detrimental to the health of Australians, not a protector. They are there to protect Big Pharma only.

And with their very existence dependent upon Big Pharma, they are going to be very careful not to upset them. They seem to be modeled on the US FDA and no doubt are likely to have engaged in many of the same or similar behaviours as discussed in Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s book.

Behaviour is similar to US FDA right down to TGA not suggesting or recommending Vitamin D (non patented) supplementation in the deficient to improve robustness against getting coronavirus or getting severe or lethal disease if you do get it. That was specifically mentioned in the Kennedy book in relation to Fauci.

Every Doctors rooms I have ever been in, in the last 50 years, has always had a scattering of Big Pharma giveaways on their desk…note pads, pens, various dust collectors emblazoned with Pharma Compmany logos…and that’s just what you can easily see. Then there are the “workshops “, lectures and various other freebies.

It is a huge undertaking to push various drugs and products, and must cost a motza…but they are making way more on their products…the Covid vaccines for example. How many billions have the Federal Government spent, and are still spending, on a vaccine that is anything but.

Pfizer for example, has been fined huge amounts in the past for various ” indiscretions ” but was given totally immunity from prosecution if the Covid vaccines did not work or caused damage. Now, the Feds have a compensation system for anyone who can prove a partner or relatives death was caused by the vaccine…and the taxpayer is footing the bill !

    130

      David Maddison

I’m not sure if you’re in Australia or not Glenn but in Australia, the Federal Government pays for funeral expenses for people killed by the covid vaccines and there is also a compensation scheme for vaccine injuries.

The taxpayer bears these costs when it should be the Pharma companies which have been rendered immune from prosecution for providing defective products.

I hadn’t realized that.[I’m in the USA.] One more reason to be skeptical of the data, since this creates an incentive to skew findings to “capture” the burial costs. So hospitals, etc., are paid for each COVID case, and (I presume) hospitalization. Ugh!

Totalitarian Medicine: The US government is effectively “fining” hospitals if they use Ivermectin or anything not approved

I posted on it in December last year. An extraordinary description by the AAPS — a 75 year old institution which against all the odds was still behaving as an honest player.

There is a system of payments to hospitals that effectively punish them for using ivermectin or any other treatment outside the one permitted protocol. The amount of money involved is not disclosed but “Attorney Thomas Renz and CMS whistleblowers have calculated a total payment of at least $100,000 per patient.”

Hospitals must pay back these “bonus” payments if they use drugs outside the one approved protocol. Does it apply to vitamins too?
