Victims of a dead-end religion — Too anxious about climate to have children

By Jo Nova

Written just in time for the UN Climate junket, Anna Lee, 21,  declares she’s too worried about climate change to have children.

In the past these declarations have been a part of a Doomer fashion show where people who probably wouldn’t have had children anyway brag about how saintly they are for not having them. They wear their childlessness as a badge of glory. But Anna Lee’s declaration sounds more like a cry for help from someone raised on a climate fantasy. She doesn’t feel she can offer her children a future, perhaps because she doesn’t have one herself. She has, after all, been raised by the village on a dead-end religion. The world will only be saved if impossible things happen. Storms, fires and floods can be stopped with whirly-gigs and magical silicon carpets, don’t you know? The solution is so obvious, and it’s cheap and free too, but people in our tribe are too stupid and greedy to do it. Imagine what a depressing message that would be — born into a craven mob of colonizing lemmings who didn’t do anything good like ending slavery, inventing antibiotics or walking on the moon. Losers…

Some subset of Gen Z have been turned into perpetual climate alarm machine.

On the other hand, there’s also an activist element here. News editors are milking youthful angst to help the UN agenda. And Greenpeace are holding the next generation hostage unless they get their way on climate change. The Greenpeace plan, called  “No Future, No Children” aimed to get teenagers to pledge not to have children unless the government fixed the weather, or helped oligarchs get very rich, or something like that. Thankfully I don’t think their 2019 plan caught on. The webpage CNN links to is now a shipping container company. But what could go wrong with coercing adolescents into making pledges they may later regret?

Why I’m not going to have children — says Anna Lee

CNN Logo

If temperatures weren’t rising, I’d choose the name “Athena” for a girl. If the rivers were safe, I’d choose “William” for a boy. If I could breathe clean air on my morning commute, I’d paint the nursery a warm yellow. If I could see hope for a sustainable future on this planet, I wouldn’t be spending time mourning the children I’ll probably never have.

If things were different, I’d be honored to become a parent — indeed, I think there is no greater privilege or responsibility. But each day, the current state of the world dissuades me more and more from having children. Like many folks in Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012), my main concern is climate change. And, as climate catastrophes are already well in motion (coupled with a host of related socioeconomic and equality issues), I feel as if I would be doing an increasingly irreparable injustice to any children I would bring into this world with my inability to offer them a future.

Is she the product of Green Woke parents who felt guilty themselves? Sounds like her childhood may have been filled with doomsday clocks.

At my age, concrete discussions of family and having children are still far down the line — but this is a decision I’ve held firmly to since I, myself, was a child. Passing on my own climate anxiety would be akin to a generational curse — nor do I think the joys of childhood should be tampered with doomsday clocks, higher risks of disease and health issues and climate change’s ripple effects on the economy, violent conflict and education.

It certainly wasn’t filled with patriotic pride. For Anna, the US is not a culture, just a place on a map:

As a US citizen, I wield enormous privilege by virtue of location, alone…

Climate anxiety is becoming unbearable

Climate anxiety knows no national borders — according to a study from the University of Bath, nearly 40% of 16- to 25-year-old participants from several countries stated that they were hesitant to have children because of climate change.

Threats for climate change!

Other organizations, such as the Canadian “No Future No Children” group, have gained considerable traction among teens, many of whom are pledging not to have children until their government takes climate change more seriously.

…many of my decisions emerge from a need for control. Like many Gen Z and Millennial individuals, I feel largely powerless within today’s environmental and political climate.

The pointless rituals of comfort to soothe the anxiety:

With larger policy control out of the picture, I find myself grasping for any miniscule way to assuage my climate anxiety — finding green travel alternatives, reusing plastic bottles until they fall apart, buying locally sourced food and repurposing any clothes or unwanted items. My decision over whether to have children is yet another example of exerting control over events that seem to be, at this rate, uncontrollable.

The purpose of the story (for CNN at least) is to push the propaganda for the UN annual junket. The editors even admit that:

This story is part of CNN’s coverage of climate change ahead of the COP28 summit …

In reality of course, for most fertile adults it’s not about climate change but about the cost of living. Give them cheap fossil fuels and a culture that believes in itself.

Probably for the best they don’t breed anyway , their poor kids will just grow up brainwashed and with a twisted version of reality.

Annie (11.19am) Sure there are lotsa dumb people about, who say silly stuff. Back in the day when I went from Primary to High School, only about 3-5% of kids were assessed as bright enough for University….which means got sent to Selective Schools…so what’s changed?

Fair enough there are some young neurotics and hysterics, and a fair few with Daddy Issues, but what I see IF I’m stupid enough to drive past a secondary school at about 3-3.30pm each day is hordes of Year 12, and some Year 11, kids clogging up the road in their fossil-fuelled cars. THEN when school holidays arrive they and their parents fly into my local airport to clog up my town as well. Before that the leaving-certificate cohort has already flown in (all in fossil-fuel guzzling jets, of course) for Schoolies’ week.

The joy-flights over the Reef: the hundreds of day-trips and Jet-Ski tours etc etc are packed. And I’m supposed to accept that some dumb bimbo claiming AT 21 FFS she’s afraid of burning fossil; fuels..is for real?

Nope. All a put-on. Teen (and early 20s) Angst has always been a popular fad. See Rebel Without a Cause or The Wild One from 70 years ago for further clarification!

What’s changed is that today, most of the dumbest kids in society can be found attending university.

And most of the dumbest kids from the previous generation are lecturing at those universities… to lazy or stupid to get a gig in the real world.

I always know when “schoolies” is on as our church always has a mission which goes down to Surfers and helps sort out kids who run into all sorts of issues. And along the way they mention about Christianity..

            But I digress.

This year we have two people who are going to Fiji to do the same thing for all the schoolies who head over there. Apparently its the same in Bali, Thailand etc with hordes of young kids heading OS for their celebration.

And yes, most of those doing their rite of passage would, if questioned, cry out about the climate emergency. But obviously as long as they don’t have to bear any pain then they really don’t care….

Their world is about to get a lot of pain in the decade to come, unless there is a turnaround, as blackouts will become normalised. Manufacturing will basically cease to exist and we will have a Depression to rival that of the 1930s. Maybe these young ones will then, when they notice that the weather and climate have not changed one iota, hopefully push back…

Cohenite, and others. Maybe YOU are going with their neuroses, but they are taking ME nowhere with them! What’s the big deal if a bunch of nutty kids are out to attract equally nutty roll-in-the-hay partners by playing along with their fantasies? Was always the way: what sheila doesn’t like “a good listener”?

I just spent 5 minutes explaining that silly professors and teachers are not convincing the “youth” to drop their fossil-fueled cars and planes and boats. Nor their parents, nor really anyone.

In my neck of the woods, hundreds of millions are being spent on new roads, new rail-lines, airport expansions etc etc. How often do I need to repeat it: reports of the end of humanity are much exaggerated. PLUS coal-mining is BOOMING!

EVs are duds. Everyone knows it. Solar is a scam which can never work in REALITY. Everybody knows it…even the Indian guys who pester me day and night to install it. Wind-turbines are a bust..ask Siemens FFS!

I am as concerned by the Renewables Fraud and Climate Change Angst as I am by people reading their Horoscope every day…or visiting Psychics, or reading tea-leaves or freaking out when a black-cat crosses their path. Fools and their dough are easily parted!

As our Indij remind us: when it comes to gullibles and scams: Always Was and Always Will Be!

You sure? No kids,no need to roll in the hay.. Seems sex is way down the list of occupations for the current generations, loss of sex drive straight from the food they eat.

The third world will make up for them, this is a Western psychological problem.

I agree re removing them out of the gene pool – no great loss. Only problem is they end up stinking rich, with lots of spare time on their hands, and normally live to an old age because of the life of leisure without the stresses of family life, and they channel those resources into making life hell for the kids of other people.

Speaking of the brainwashing, Bolta had Dr David karoly on his show tonight. Karoly had issued a medical certificate so the brain washed kiddies could have a day off on Friday to protest global boiling, as Guterres said. I don’t know if its the same karoly who has been prominent as a climate alarmist but this guy looked terrible, like a boiled frog. Half his teeth were missing and he looked like he had just come from the Outpatients. Anyway Bolta cut him off mid sentence which was great.

The real irony of this is that educated elites will become the Eunuchs of the government while the uneducated masses will continue to do what comes naturally.

      Yep

Western and Asian young adults who have bought into the warmist propaganda will stop having kids, while young adults from Africa will keep reproducing at rates 2-3 times the replacement level.

Meanwhile, these same woke kids who love social safety net programs are ensuring that those Ponzi schemes will collapse in their lifetimes, as there won’t be enough young productive workers to support the aging population receiving benefits. In the words of Margaret Thatcher ‘The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples’ money.’

Unfortunately, the children are being brainwashed from a very young age.

I spoke to my granddaughter (year 6) a few weeks ago and she told me the lesson for that particular day was about the Antarctica. I asked what were they taught about it and the response was that Antarctica was melting and that the sea levels were rising very fast as a result.

I informed her that there were other opinions about this issue from a lot very noted scientists which she was surprised to hear about.

I have since purchased Ian Plimer’s set of 3 books called The Little Green Book, one for “ankle biters”, one for “tweens” and the last for 18+ and adults which I’ve given to her to read and hopefully learn a lot more about things she’s not being taught in school.

A very interesting set of books available here: The Little Green Book

Suggest all who can purchase or borrow so their children and grandchildren can be better educated than current school curriculums are doing.

    Cheers,

A 2021 survey of 10,000 persons aged 16-25 across 10 nations found that their feelings about climate change affected the daily lives of 45% of them; 3/4 found the future ‘frightening’, 56% thought that humanity was ‘doomed’ and 40% were hesitant to have children:

    https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3918955

The panic of Greta Thunberg and the activism of Just Stop Oil are entirely rational if the claims they believe about climate are correct. I hope I’d behave in the same way, frankly.

But are they correct? This whole issue begins in the science.

‘But are they correct? This whole issue begins in the science.’

True, but in this regard we are having trouble communicating the truth through the MSM.

The other day the ABC came out with a story that many Pacific islands are not sinking, its one small breakthrough and we have a long way to go. It may require an incredibly cold winter in Europe to topple AGW propaganda.

Anton. After discovering how much the poor petals fear Climate Change were they then asked “Are you planning to travel in fossil-fueled planes, cars, boats in the next year or so?” Or “Do you own a gas-guzzling car?” Or “if you don’t commit suicide today, where would you most like to live? At the soon-to-be-inundated seaside or in some safe space in the bush?”

Facts are that 99% of “concerned youth” are BS artists in love with crying wolf. Who cares that they run about being neurotic? Was always thus!

No doubt these doomers are fully vaxxed and boosted so kids later on is just a dream anyway on 3 fronts; vaxxed life expectancy, ability to successfully pop one out, and looming socio-economic cliff precluding the expense of bringing up sprogs.

Just like the Peak Oil era – afraid to have kids.

It’s odd how few people do the simple demographics. Having only 2 children at around age 30 extrapolates to a decreasing population. Even having 3 children does not guarantee survival of your family line either. Some won’t, don’t or can’t breed and some die young. The 2022 birth rate was <1.7 here in Australia.
Few Western journalists talk about the Russian problem where women are having difficulty finding a man who is financial enough to support them who is not alcoholic. A friend of mine had a long distance relationship with a 30ish year old girl he met in a cafe in the Ukraine. Her insights into the life of the typical Russian girl were quite depressing. Global Warming™ or lack there-of, is far from their minds.

Leadership: elites brainwash the children into wanting what the elites want, then the elites install a government that delivers what the elites and the brainwashed think they want.

My father was at a political meeting years ago. The latest university intern was there going on about how drilling needed to be shut down during the mating season so a species of wild life would not stop procreating. The intern claimed that noise from drilling rigs would put the wild life out of the mood. My dad told the the young intern that noise not would stop any wild life from doing it. He was right, the next year there was bumper crop.

I think it will be the same with the rising generation of humans. They will be doing it. And the results will be as it always has been.

Well, I live amongst the hippy types and I tell you, they breed like rabbits. I might join the campaign, no future no climate no kids, myself.

But I’ve also noticed, hippy kids often end up quite conservative. They taste that lifestyle bestowed upon them, you know, houses that smell like incense and rat droppings (hippies never kill rats), carpet snakes in the ceiling, broken families (they rarely stick together), and they long for business degrees, city living and family.

But get the red thumbs out. I actually think the world is overpopulated. For environmental and social reasons. I’m not a lover of people, they annoy me.

I moved back to the country to get away from them, but they keep appearing where they once were not, carving up farmland for their ugly houses on acreage blocks, supported by those new zero turn lawn mowers. Once the 5 acres had a cow or two, but now they just mow it and I have to listen to them basically all Saturday and Sunday, one finishes another starts. The crying dogs they leave in the yard echoes around the valley, their arguments, their leaf blowers, their kids and their stupid music, it all annoys me.

Last year one weekend morning after a night on the liquor, my teen neighbor on the hill opposite woke me with that deep bass repetition thing. I tried to ignore it for 5 minutes, but found myself on the verandah screaming with both lungs “shut the (insert word) up” with anger to match that even scared my family, for which I apologised. It echoed around the whole valley, and even the dogs went quiet. It’s not like me to do that, I’m non-confrontational. It just happened. This is what too many people does to you, it lowers your moral standards.

Whilst on the one hand it is easy to delegate these misguided people to the Darwin Award candidate pool, their loss from the reproductive pool will exacerbate an already dire situation with regard to birth rate in the western world.
Even before we descended into the LGBQWERTY labyrinth, and prior to the Plandemic, we already had a low birth rate issue in Europe and elsewhere in the Western world. Zero Population Growth requires a birth rate of 2.15 children per couple and anything less than this results in a shrinking population. Last time I looked, most of Europe was in the region of 1.7. Ireland and Spain, were at 1.3, which apparently is past the point of no return, that is, they are in a death spiral.
Add to this the active recruitment of persons to groups other than those with heterosexual tendencies, and the dramatic reduction in birth rate resulting from the widespread administration of untested genetic concoctions at the whim of our ‘health’ experts, we are the point where climate change is the least of our concerns.

If Prof Valentina Zharkova and her astro-physics colleagues are correct our star is entering a slow-down mode of circulation which will see northern latitudes becoming unable to produce crops. Now that the Ukraine is heavily laced with land-mines we should expect to see a permanent reduction in grain exports to the world. Perhaps by 2033 we’ll be in a very different group-think and Global Warming™ will be a dirty phrase that everyone tries to avoid mentioning.

Everything she knows about climate is wrong.
That ought to be worth a gold star, or something.
In her honor, I will feed my wood stove with wood I grew, cut, and split.
I’ll pore a glass of wine, warm my feet, and toast Ms. Anne Lee.

    Basic reality:

The future belongs to those who show up.

Your basic genetic imperative is also something with which one does not trifle.Well may have Richard Dawkins expounded in depth about the “selfish gene’, but the “magnanimous” genes are a LOT less likely to still be in circulation in a couple of generations.

In our day it was THE BOMB!

Might soon be getting a rerun.

In reality it is just plain old misanthropy. Too selfish to take on the work and cost of having kids.

The pill gave women a choice and they are deciding its not in their best interest to go beyond replacement value, thankfully Australia is enjoying mass immigration so our birthrate should remain relatively stable.

I remember Climate Scientist Sarah Perkins Kirkpatrick ( now associate professor) saying she would not have children because Climate Change. She evidently changed her mind.

Are we sure this girl really exists? yes there are photos and the background is convincing – but the language is all carefully crafted to be convincing. note the headliner: “Anna Lee is an intern with CNN Opinion. A fourth-year English major at the College of the Holy Cross, she has written for organizations including the University of Oxford Student newspaper, The Malala Fund (Assembly), The Borgen Project and more. The opinions expressed in this commentary are her own. Read more opinion on CNN”

Are they really her opinions? or like Saint Greta – is someone behind her pulling the propaganda strings?

My grandson is generation Z has a double degree business and law and is working for a business consultancy. Get a life!

    Couple questions …
now that men get pregnant, aren’t there more options?

    Also …
if we don’t produce more children, what happens to all the vaccines?

It is irresponsible not to produce more children for vaccination.

Well maybe if you are so inclined and want to come back to Europe, How about this job advert? Do you have a desire to work with a purpose? Join us in feeding the world while saving the planet. Are you looking for a bureaucracy-free company?
For my part, it’s more the sarcasm about this green stuff, in keeping with todays topic.

Mandatory information in Austria: The minimum gross salary for this position is EUR 4200/month We’re willing to overpay, depending on your professional work experience and qualification.

    Wow eh?

Yet another self-absorbed twit. Every fourth word is a variation of the personal pronoun: I me my mine.

Much of the US will have the opportunity to ponder the trade-off between-100-year-off-anxiety and immediate issues
whilst sitting the cold and dark this winter wondering why the power is out. It will soon be restored, in some
cases…in others the load v. generation mismatch will cause problems. If the Sun ain’t shining and the wind ain’t blowing
the pols who closed the convention plants will be whimpering “It’s Trump’s fault”.

Gosh, saving the planet is hard.

I love the logic of these indoctrinated young adults who don’t want kids because they are concerned about the future they are giving them.To not be born guarantees a pretty ordinary future for any potential being .In fact I couldn’t think of a worse non existence than to be chosen to not be born. I’d rather speak for my self not have to rely on the actions/ inactions of an indoctrinated , self absorbed religious zealot who could’ve been my mother.

It’s absolutely imperative that useful idiots don’t breed. So despite the flowery prose and simpering negativity, the message is welcome, as Anna is never going to be a critical thinker.
Thanks Anna, you have foreshadowed a better world, which despite your personal despair, will surpass the 40th or 50th Doomsday prediction you fell for!

Following the Shaker model. Shakers were known for their simple but highly functional wooden furniture. What will this group be known for?
