Obama promises to stop storms. Labor is so broke that Combet asks skeptics for money to help.

Thank God for Barack Obama and Greg Combet. For they have The Gift. They can change the weather.

Welcome back to another Golden Era of Climate-Hype.

Obama’s State of the Union speech and all-new legislation in the US is ramping up the debate again. Greg Combet (Australian minister for the weather) is getting so excited at the news, he’s sending out emails to all the skeptics who’ve ever written to him:

“For years climate sceptics have argued the United States is not acting, so nor should Australia. Can you share this video and show them that’s not true?

Does Combet think that this will change skeptic’s minds? Is he serious? Does he have any idea why we are skeptics? Does he listen?
He even asks skeptics to send him $10 to help. The tax you already are forced to pay is not enough. Is Combet an activist or a government minister?

PS. Can you help us defend the carbon price from Tony Abbott by chipping in $10? We can’t afford to fall behind the rest of the world on this issue.

Obama’s spinified climate statements

When shale gas is good we call it “natural gas” (don’t mention the “frack” word):

Obama: “We produce more natural gas than ever before – and nearly everyone’s energy bill is lower because of it. And over the last four years, our emissions of the dangerous carbon pollution that threatens our planet have actually fallen.”

So frakking is a good thing then. Why didn’t you say so before? What took you so long?

Our records are a tiny 150 years of a 4,500,000,000 year history. But we can milk those records for all their scary PR value:

“But for the sake of our children and our future, we must do more to combat climate change. Yes, it’s true that no single event makes a trend. But the fact is, the 12 hottest years on record have all come in the last 15. Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and floods – all are now more frequent and intense.”

Isn’t Obama forgetting something?

“We can choose to believe that Superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence. Or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science – and act before it’s too late.”

OR, we can choose to believe it’s a natural cycle that’s happened countless times before. Look at history: Floods. Storms. Sea levels. Heat.

The polls show US citizens don’t want legislation, and voted for a congress that doesn’t want it either. But Obama will do it anyway:

The good news is, we can make meaningful progress on this issue while driving strong economic growth. I urge this Congress to pursue a bipartisan, market-based solution to climate change, like the one John McCain and Joe Lieberman worked on together a few years ago. But if Congress won’t act soon to protect future generations, I will. I will direct my Cabinet to come up with executive actions we can take, now and in the future, to reduce pollution, prepare our communities for the consequences of climate change, and speed the transition to more sustainable sources of energy.

What is it about this issue that is so very important to them? Blow off democracy and electors, we know what is best. The science is ludicrously wrong, yet they plow on regardless, against the electors wishes. First in Australia we had Gillard promising not to have a carbon tax in a close election, then breaking her promise and doing it anyway. Now Obama mainly fails to mention global warming in a close election, then goes all out with his “climate change” agenda after the election — with no mandate. (What, he suddenly discovered his passion for this after the election? Or did he tacitly conceal it beforehand?)

The PR spin is hyped to meaninglessness.

Four years ago, other countries dominated the clean energy market and the jobs that came with it. We’ve begun to change that. Last year, wind energy added nearly half of all new power capacity in America. So let’s generate even more. Solar energy gets cheaper by the year – so let’s drive costs down even further. As long as countries like China keep going all-in on clean energy, so must we.

China is going all-in on clean energy? Everyone knows China is going all out for coal, and it only likes “green energy” because it’s  selling those useless windmills to the rest of the world.

China is proposing more new coal plants than anywhere else in the world.

Combet asks for money to help

I’m getting reports lots of skeptics have recieved this email below. It appears Combet has sent emails to everyone who ever complained about the carbon tax to him.

Does Combet thinks he can send emails to skeptics about the Carbon Tax, and they will want to send him $10? It’s as if one of his senior advisors was the GetUP team. He runs a multimillion dollar department with advertising budgets in the millions.

From many readers:

 Dear ____,

Have you had the chance to catch up on President Obama’s State of the Union Address today? Here’s what he had to say on climate change. President Obama called on Congress to put in place a market-based mechanism to deal with carbon emissions. That means President Obama is calling for a price on carbon. Just like we have here in Australia thanks to this Labor Government.

From our experience, we know it won’t be easy and that the President will meet tough opposition.

For years climate sceptics have argued the United States is not acting, so nor should Australia. Can you share this video and show them that’s not true?

The President also pointed out that China is going full steam ahead on moving to renewable energy sources and the United States has to do the same.

These shifts on the international stage make it more important than ever that Australia continues to act on climate change. We must not go backwards.

You can check out some handy facts on China’s action on climate change by clicking here.

Greg

PS. Can you help us defend the carbon price from Tony Abbott by chipping in $10? We can’t afford to fall behind the rest of the world on this issue.

Agree with the sentiment that all pollies lie and suck. However you have fallen prey to the long standing Labor or Liberal paradigm, ie the illusion of choice. I can’t really blame you for the mindset but if one does not like Gillard/Labor that does not automatically make them an Abbott/Liberal supporter. It’s difficult with preferential voting but the electorate should be looking at ALL options and parties!

      Dear Stupid Liar,

Obama did not mention climate change once during the presidential campaign. Once he gets elected he puts in his state of the union address. Just like Julia Gillard, Obama has no mandate for a carbon dioxide tax, but he is going to try to impose one anyway.

For years climate sceptics have argued that India and China are not acting and that is the game right there. What Australia does in this area is totally irrelevant on a global scale. If it mattered that much you would just shut down all of the coal fired power plants, but you don’t because you know how vital they are, and I notice that you are selling record amounts of coal to China so that they can commission one coal fired power plant every week.

China is building wind plants to sell to the stupid countries in the west that are buying them. They are mining the rare earths required for the nacelles of the wind turbines and creating a huge environmental problem doing so.

      http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1350811/In-China-true-cost-Britains-clean-green-wind-power-experiment-Pollution-disastrous-scale.html

If we make energy expensive we will go backwards. Cheap energy = wealth. Expensive energy = poverty. It is that simple.

Feeling the pinch of the budget deficit that you promised would not occur are we? I would not piss in your ear if your brain was on fire. You can take money grab and shove it where your methane is generated.

            Andrew,

Kilez More is Austrian. A native of Vienna.

He finds resonance amongst the German-speaking youth who, having been told lies all their lives “for their own good”, now latch onto any conspiracy theory that’s vague plausible. Keep in mind that they’ve not been equipped for life in an education system that promotes critical thinking but one that enforces the status quo.

Austrians will pay lip service to anybody who lords it over them; while cultivating free expression in the back rooms and the home. If you watch them closely for a week you can perhaps detect the theatre of interactions as ordinary folk, bureaucrats and their political “leaders” play their roles. They don’t even have to do it well any more. They seldom have to convince anybody who’s not playing their role; be that of jobsworth bureaucrat, antagonistic Gendarme or street lout.

Although Australians haven’t yet fully developed the theatre of playing their assigned role in a live satire, they share many other charactistics with Austrians; intrinsic laziness, aspiring to hedonistic lifestyles and gorging themselves in the pleasures of the moment, letting tomorrow take care of itself.

Those are of course stereotypes. Make your own; as you wish.

Don’t overestimate Obama. He’s as useless as Gillard. The scary thing is he won the election. It could happen here. Labor could go all out. They could promise anything, dig up every resentment, every jealousy, hatred and envy. They could buy off single issue groups no matter what the long term cost to the country. They could split the electorate into warring groups and promise each little group what it wants.

I don’t think even Mitt Romney could lose if he was up against Labor at the next election.

I am still mystified a) how the republicans could preselect Romney and b) why pundits here and at conservative sites in the US thought the polls might be wrong, and Romney would win.

I have found over the years, that the polls are a long way more reliable than my gut feelings about election results.

        Gnome,

Actually the polls disagreed going into November 2012. The state-level polls favored Obama, and they were correct. The national-level polls didn’t favor him, and they were wrong.

Obama got more of his base to turn out than the national polls generally assumed, and fewer potential Republican voters to turn out than the national polls generally assumed. The unflagging support of nearly all media outlets and hundreds of millions for negative advertising ended up enabling him to win reelection with fewer votes than he got in 2008.

None of which detracts from Mitt’s abysmal quality as a candidate. The only good thing about Mitt’s nomination is that since losing the election he has completely retired, and made no public statements about anything.

You seem to be assuming that the USA and Australia are democracies in which the governed choose representatives for government through an election.
Unfortunately this is exactly what you are intended to think, when in fact government is chosen, and takes orders from, behind the scenes.
The outcome of the next election is already scripted, and it is a script which leads directly, without passing go, to Agenda 21.
In order to submit sovereignty to a UN one world government, this country will have to be on its knees. Now ask yourself, could the current administration be so incompetent, and so stupid, and so destructive through sheer “natural ineptitude”, unless the actual agenda is to prepare for that situation? What do you think?

The president isn’t as powerful as even many Americans might like to think. I think that he is intelligent, good humoured and in my opinion not mean. I was however somewhat dismayed at his exhortations that action need be taken against the supposed fact of present human induced warming.

So I just shrug and figure that he is under pressure and can’t do anything else.

As for people like Combet, Ludwig, Swan, Wong, Plibersek, Gillard, Lundy etc they are just trash. I knew kids like them when I was at school.

If you’ve had to listen to even a small proportion of President Obama’s endless repetitive speechifying (he spends more time on it than on his second-favorite activity, playing golf), you might be inclined to conclude that he is somewhat above average in intelligence and ran out of ideas within a year after beginning his first term.

Behind the scenes testimony indicates that Obama extremely thin-skinned, strives to outdo everyone around him, can’t bear public criticism, needs to be fawned over, and has never had any prospect of working with Republicans in Congress because he can barely stand working with Democrats in Congress. He has a good-humored public act, which he fails to maintain consistently.

I don’t see how he took up “climate change” under pressure or is returning to it under pressure. Any more than he took up nuclear arms reduction under pressure or is returning to it under pressure.

Environmentalists are an element in the Democratic party coalition, and are disproportionately represented among its big-money donors. But they form one of the smallest voting blocs for the party, and their agenda obviously runs counter to the interests of several larger voting blocs. How do low-income African-Americans in Cleveland or rural South Carolina, or low-income Latinos in south Florida or central California, benefit from suppressing the production and consumption of fossil fuels?

Obama never mentioned CC during the Presidential campaign because he knew the people would not ”buy it”. Sandy was 2 metres storm surge + 2 metres tidal surge due to the Moon. Obama mentioned fires when Police know many fires are deliberately lit.
Obama used the address to the Nation to have a one sided debate with himself where there is no right of reply. Why was he silent about all the coal fired and nuclear power stations they are building in the US to cope with the high demand? What’s going to power all the industry he hopes to return to the US?

      John Brignell wrote recently:

A phenomenon of our time has been the re-establishment of a political class quite distinct from the general populace. They have their own educational system; mainly at public schools, but sometimes at elite comprehensives favoured by wealthy socialist families, around which they congregate geographically. They go on to university (preferably Oxford) where they pursue studies of a pseudoscientific nature (PPE, anthropology etc.) then enter politics with little or no contamination by the world of work. Politics has become an extension of the student variety, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. This class reversion might have been expected to give rise to a more conservative ambience, but the opposite has been the case. It has become the custom to elect political leaders who are youthful and inexperienced, in preference to the “village elder” tradition. They despise history and its lessons, having absolute faith in their own groupthink, which extends across party boundaries.

14 Feb: UK Daily Mail: Hugo Duncan/Tim Shipman: King blames rising inflation on ‘own goals’ by ministers: Governor attacks green taxes and university fees
Sir Mervyn said squeeze on living standards will last for another three years
The Governor of the Bank of England warned that the unprecedented squeeze on living standards will last for a further three years as prices rise and wages stagnate.
But, in a coded attack on ministers, he said much of the pain was ‘self-inflicted’ because it stemmed from big increases in energy bills and tuition fees.
‘Whether it’s on financing education, green policies or other policies, what they have done is push up prices and that clearly makes our job in the short-run more difficult,’ Sir Mervyn said.
The average household energy bill is now more than £1,300 a year and has risen nearly 25 per cent since early 2011, with suppliers blaming green levies imposed by the Government…

The way that things hitherto accepted for millenia as a normal part of life on Earth are already being described by world leaders as “freak of thecentury” is very, very disturbing.

At least in Orwells nightmare only the actions of men were subject to historical revision and even if perception of reality (“…how many fingers am I holdding up…”) could be manipulated in individuals it was only through torture. But here we have an entire generation (the first, followed potentially by those that follow) being raised to believe normal is the new “freak”.

Once this starts, there really is no knowing where it will lead.

      Ace,

I can remember the word freak being used to describe a bad storm. But in those days no one took it very seriously. It never had any more status than any other off-the-wall remark.

The freaky thing now is how easily the sheep have swallowed the hundred mile long line of BS they’ve been fed instead of hay or grass.

It seems I missed the part of his speech about stopping storms. Or are you just making that up?

Well Dumb One, I can’t say for certain because I couldn’t bear to watch the Comic in Chief. I don’t have enough blood pressure pills in the house to endure his propaganda riddled crap.

None the less, it is your warmists that suggest we are affecting normal weather by our human activities. Therefore any warmist that suggests a solution (as Barry has) is IMPLYING that we can stop “superstorms” droughts and fires.

But it is good for you to IMPLY that you don’t believe it.

Maybe hanging out here has changed you?

      Roy Hogue

I guess the word “imply” was accidentally left out of your lexicon. Or perhaps it escaped and you’ll probably find it hiding under your bed or in a closet if you go looking for it.

Or is it that you couldn’t think of anything else to say?

Actually, Nice One, you need to learn the art of reading and listening between the lines. You discover a lot that way that goes unsaid but nevertheless is there, if you can see it.

Or are you just making that up?

Ah, so un-Nice One wheels out that overused left-green cliche (almost a meme) yet again. Trouble is, NGO or Party-apparatchik One, it is mainly people on your side who have the habit of making things up, of spouting absolute BS, time and time again. Have you no shame? If you can’t say anything original, don’t say anything at all.

We can make them less severe than they otherwise would be. That’s not the same as stopping them.

If you think Obama said he’d stop storms, then you’d be an idiot.

But of course we both know he didn’t say that.

        The arrogance of the alarmists:

We can make them less severe than they otherwise would be.

Storms require energy gradients; if we are to believe AGW with its disproportionate heating of the poles and narrowing of the DTR, there will be less energy gradients to feed storm intensity.

AGW is so stupid it contradicts itself and its advocates believe anything, no matter how stupid.

The Carbon Tax must be bring as much money as the Mining Tax if Climate Change Minster Greg Combet has to ask informed people that are Skeptical about the claims that lead to the Carbon Tax, and I quote Jo’s article hear,” “Chipping $10?” to defend the Carbon Tax from Tony Abbott and stop us falling behind the rest of the world on this issue.” Ether that or unlike former President Bill Clinton he did inhale and from the sounds of it inhaled allot of it, me thinks.

I wonder if Mr Combet actually realizes that people are skeptical not just because the U.S.A. hasn’t done anything yet but because of all the mistakes and corruption from the climate Scientists. Or that we are simply Scientifically literate enough to understand the limitations of the Scientific instruments and methods use to collect the climate change evidence. Like that Ice reading machines the can do a very good job of read the gas levels and estimating the temperature in the Ice cores but fall down when they try to date the measurement. Back in the 90’s they were only able to take one measurement per 1000 years or so give or take some years or decades or so. The newer machines can read and date the Ice Cores to about one measurement every 250 years or so reliably. A newer machine does better at one measurement every century or so but hasn’t been proven to be reliable going back beyond 5000 years yet. I don’t think Minster Combet or the Prime Minster said anything about that when they told us we have to have a Carbon Tax they? Did any of you lot hear them say anything about that? If so I must of missed that, sorry about that Greg.

Also the collection method use to collect the evidence can and have manufactured artifacts that have corrupted the results. Like the temperature measurements reading taken from places that are artificially heated like next to hot brick walls and concrete structures. Also in the case of the Ocean Acidification claims, the very way the early data was collected created an artifact the corrupted the data, how well before 2003 the way the sciences collect the data about the Ocean Acidity was to sail around the sea and collect samples of water from the ocean and take different readings from it. With far to few vessels to do this with they had to move around allot as to collect enough samples, so they were collecting snap shots of the ocean. After 2003 they had the Argos sensor probes they could though over board and sail off to place others, these Argos sensor probes stayed on location and were about to take regular on going readings(up to every 15 minutes or so if required)and report these reading back by satellite.

Have you figured out the mistake the Climate scientists made yet? The old way to collect the samples and the data that they contain created a collection artifact the continues all the way though to the results which corrupted these results. That artifact was to scientific belief that oceans Ph was stable and was slowly increasing because of increasing Co2 level in the atmosphere. So they predicted that the Ocean Acidity would increase by 0.03 Ph points in the next 90 years based on this. Which they claimed was a big problem little ocean plants at the bottom of the ocean food chain. This prediction was based on all those snap shots from different location taken at different time from all over the worlds oceans. After the probes were used the scientists were about to discover the ongoing Ocean Ph level and discover that the Ocean Ph raised and fell by 1.80 Ph’s point a day on globe average. After the Argos probe they discover that the Ocean Ph goes up and down 60 times as much every day of the week as they predicted it to in the next 90 years, but have they stop the scare campaign about it yet or admitted their stuff yet ?
I DON”T THINK SO. I have a brain a injure and I can work that out for myself.

There are also other reasons why they stuffed up like the history books, maths and evolution, but that was one of the big ones. Then Of course we have the Climate Models. Well what can I say about them. Well here goes, you remember all those computer crystal ball programs that read the computer tea leaves or something that predicted which race horse the would win next weeks horse races or how about the ones that predict the winning lotto numbers. How about the ones that predict which shares you should buy to get really really rich really quick. Didn’t we get Laws made up to stop them or at least to lock the people flogging this crap off locked up. Well Mr Greg Combet must believe that they all must worked and predict the future or something because the climate models are just the same sort of thing aren’t they. All those other programs used science of some description so they claimed to read the computer tea leaves, star signs or tarot cards or what ever to let you predict what going to happen in the future. Just like the climate models that are how much off by or heaven forbid wrong by how much.

If he (Minster Greg Combet) believes in Crystal balls and their predictions and he and his party have made core planks party policies based on these predicts. Like the Carbon Tax. Well that’s very good for the country now isn’t. I hope the people how voted for him find out about that. Oops I almost forget don’t we actually have laws the require the disclosure in financial product that past performance doesn’t predict future out comes or returns. I think that legislation is called rg234 Google it and see for yourself. So if the laws say’s a financial product must disclose this why does a computer program that look at past performance of the climate and then mix’s in the all those tea leave who’s results predict the future which helped to gave us the Carbon Tax not have to Disclose this as well?

Skeptic’s don’t believe in Crystal balls unlike the Greens and the Labor party are paternally and of course Climate Change Minster Greg Combet one must conclude. If he emails me and ask me to chipping $10, I’m going to tell he to use his crystal ball climate change modeling software to predict which race horse is going to win the next race and tell him I hope he loses his seat at the next election. I just hope he doesn’t use our tax payers money to place his bets. There’s been enough green waste of our money from his government already in this voter’s opinion. Bring on the truth about the facts and the election I say. Oh ya somebody please lock up the scam artists peddling all those we are all going to die it the end of the world the climate is changing green crystal balls too.

I do not want to wish my life away but all I can say about obama is that I can hardly wait for the next three years and eleven months and a few days to pass so that we will be rid of the man and hopefully have some one in the presidency that knows what is going on in the real world. I am convinced that obama’s agenda is the destruction of the United States of America.

It amazes me how few, if any, ever see it coming.

Since the time of Caesar every great usurpation of power or coup d’etat is never anticipated by the masses. The push for power and control is ubiquitous and is at the essence of the dark side of man and is perhaps based upon fear or an instinct for survival. At its root it is nothing more than vanity.

Barack Obama has an agenda and has no ethics whatsoever. Based upon the various and sundry executive orders he has issued I am deeply concerned that the president will do what it takes to create the “emergency” he needs to seize power. See http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/executiveorders.asp for a list of what the president can do in an “emergency.”

Global warming is a trojan horse. Cap and trade or backdoor control through the EPA will help to kill the economy and could provide the president with the excuse he needs to seize power.

I am not a conspiracy theorist or a right wing loon and I am not saying that a coup is eminent but there is definitely cause for concern.

Whoever thought that plant food had the potential to take down the republic?

I can’t say I disagree with you Eddy.

By using “Executive Orders” he is essentially issuing diktats. We all know what that makes him right? He is all about dodging the balance-of-power elements assured by the constitution. All I can say is I didn’t vote for him and I’m pretty sure a lot of people are going to deny voting for him in the next three + years.

Lets hope that several Supreme Court justices decide not to retire in that time

President Obama may try to take credit for increased oil and natural gas production when it suits him, but:

    (1) What is he going to do about the Keystone XL pipeline, which went unmentioned in his speech?

    (2) What will his Environmental Protection Agency do to coal-fired power plants?

    (3) What will the EPA do about fracking?

My predictions (which I hope are all wrong) are:

    (1) Keystone XL will be blocked

    (2) Coal-fired power plants will be compelled to shut down in large numbers

    (3) Regulations will be imposed to discourage or suppress fracking

It isn’t merely that Obama’s rise to power has required him to remain economically ignorant, though it has and he is. I think he doesn’t really want to see a lot of economic growth during the remainder of his second term. It will be easier to keep people cowed and dependent if they aren’t doing so well, and can’t look forward to prospering, and consider life under Obama the “new normal.”

A demagogue’s true genius is that he or she can say anything they want and is never held accountable for it; that they can place blame on anyone they want, take credit for everything they want, and are seldom held responsible for how their policies turn out.

    THE 11th COMMANDMENT:

Thou shalt not take Barack Hussein Obama seriously.

The big speech was like so many others, really all about the state of his imagination. Some of it may happen but don’t hold your breath. And what does happen will be a screwed up mess because that’s all these children on the political left are capable of. I won’t even get into the failure of the right.

It would be a good title for a movie except that the sex and the video tapes aren’t there.

Don’t let any of this distract you from the fact that he’s very dangerous to your purse, your freedom and your future.

        Mark,

I remember that one. It wasn’t said out loud or written down though. But it’s too late for Obama, he’s already been caught. Unfortunately he doesn’t care the way you and I did when getting caught meant real consequences.

I think of the original 10 (15 if you watch Mel Brooks) Commandments were from a patriarchal source.

I think the above referenced “11th” originates with a slightly sleazy cousin Vinny not the usual Patriarchal figure.

There is a rumor that Vinny is the illegitimate child of Murphy (author of so many “Laws”) It’s gossip but people say that Vinny was the reason Murphy started the list.

    Combet is vastly confused.

Even in politics, there is a great deal of difference between WORDS and ACTIONS.

All Obama did was speak words.

There will be no actual “actions” forthcoming from the USA.

The Republicans in Congress will NOT pass a “Carbon Tax” or any other such nonsense, and if Obama tries to decree one via executive order or EPA Promulgation, you may very well finally see the Supreme Court grow some… err… “intestinal fortitude”.

The standard of living for the majority of Americans has dropped significantly in the past 5 years. The people will only tolerate shrinking (or non-existent) paychecks with rising food and energy costs for so long before something’s gotta give.

There’s no doubt that it will collapse on their heads. The question is how far must it go before the collapse? The longer it goes on the worse the correction will be for everyone when it finally happens.

When they say in public that we have to fight global warming and save the World, if you look at the solutions they have for this, it’s all about saving socialism and its political solutions, nationally and globally.
I’m not going to judge them on their solutions and ideology. But lying to the people to get ideological monopoly for the leftist only I will judge them on.
Save the World or make a better World with lies? What kind of basis is that?

People ARE waking up and people ARE getting angry. Everywhere in the world. The smart politicians are recognizing that and the shift in thinking is happening. It just takes a little longer for the shift to come into action, but it will happen. Meanwhile, the warmist crowd are hanging onto the warming meme for dear life – screaming louder and louder – hoping to distract the general public from pensioners dying of fuel poverty, power bills getting higher, more and more taxes, more and more waste.
