It will be interesting to see the ripple effect a dominant student conservative movement has on University campuses, and how woke school administrations and faculties react.
For the past decade or so, administrations/faculties have catered to student movements from the left the same way that service industries cater to customers with a ‘the customer is always right’ approach. They viewed that approach as the best way to maximize revenues (in the form of student tuition payments) and to promote their ‘social justice’ indoctrination. Will that continue now that half of that students are completely unaligned with the politics of the administration/faculty? Or will they start cracking skulls and dishing out expulsions?
180
“will they start cracking skulls and dishing out expulsions?”
Could the Kent State “eliminations ” happen again?
No idea.

All the radical young Leftie students in NZ got jobs working for the govt:
Tim Shadbolt – mayor of Henderson then Invergiggles
Wallace ‘the barking seal’ Chapman – RNZ
John ‘marvellous’ whatshisface – TV/radio
Newsboy – TV1 newsreader / gossip shows
Half of the Labour / Greens mob
So-called rebellious youth all started on student radio 95bFM (1969- ) then sprouted families and needed to pay the mortgage so they signed-up to work for the man, man.

I don’t believe that the universities were just fulfilling a demand for more leftism on campus and in curricula, in other words ‘led by the market’. Instead, they were hijacked first by leftist professors and administrators as part of the ‘Long March’, commenced in the 1960s, thereafter becoming centres for indoctrination of young minds, and recruiters for various leftist organisations.
120
I agree that this began with the long march through the institutions, but what was the purpose of the long march in the first place? To fill institutions with leftists and indoctrinate the next generation.
What no one anticipated was the rise of administrative power in institutions. When the long march began, faculty were the power center on campus and they were lefties, but disciplined lefties who understood the power of slow incremental change over time. Their vision was the classic frog who doesn’t notice he’s in a pot of slowly boiling water until it is too late. But faculty’s power waned due to administrative bloat and the replacement of powerful tenured faculty with part-time adjunct professors who have less job protection than janitors. Now, some schools not only have more administrators than faculty, some preposterously have more administrators than STUDENTS. And unlike the old-school faculty who had message discipline and kept things moving along quietly, this new breed of administrators are loud and proud wreckers who have cranked the heat all the way up to 11 and are saying the quiet parts out loud.

My first comment , 10 minutes after the attempted assassination of Trump, was:-
“ Trump has just won the Presidential election “.
What I’ll never be able to figure out , why it takes an event like an attempted or successful
event like an assassination to motivate the American people to get their backsides into gear & sort their country’s problems once & for all. Only the people can fix what is badly broken.
Now don’t sit back & let it all fall apart again. It’s not anywhere “ fixed “ yet! There’s another 5 or more years needed to get it all straightened out.

I think Australia has fared even worse. Covid especially revealed that the famously irreverent and anti-authoritarian ‘Aussie’ is an endangered species.
160
As an American, that was shocking for me.
Pre-2020 I pictured Aussies as even more rambunctious and unmanageable than Americans. I was completely caught off guard to see how quickly and completely they acquiesced to crazy stuff like Covid concentration camps, free speech shutdowns, and refusing to allow the defending champion of the Australian Open into the country because he believed his prior Covid infections gave him natural immunity (it did) and wanted no part of the clot shot. Ditto for Kiwis buckling under to Jacinda Arden’s crazy Covid regime.
140
Actually, he was deported because he made false declarations on his visa application. He admitted to that and blamed his support staff. The fact that he was already in the country meant that the legal process to deport him was a mess and the easiest way legally was to have the immigration minister label him disruptive.
The method used to deport him was not the reason for deporting him. Which in some ways is probably a greater govt control worry than the covid regs. But he shouldn’t have lied on his visa application, even if the reason for the question was questionable.

Mishka Koshevoy
20
Had to look that one up ; quite famous apparently :-
“Sholokhov, on the last pages of the work, confronts Koshevoy and Grigory Melekhov, emphasizing Mishka’s vigilance and growth in political views.
The disclosure of Koshevoy’s character is manifested through all his actions in the process of fighting for the strengthening of Soviet power among the Don Cossacks.
In the novel, he is shown as the master of life and a representative of the working Cossacks, who found the right path in the revolution.
Showing the image of Koshevoy, Sholokhov wanted to show that such a fanatical struggle, like Mishka’s, will not lead to anything good.”

National Academies say CO2 damage to US is “beyond scientific dispute”:
“A new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine says the evidence for current and future harm to human health and welfare created by human-caused greenhouse gases is beyond scientific dispute.”
https://mailchi.mp/nationalacademies/new-study-announced-on-greenhouse-gas-impacts-47fj2f1f4s-4867311?e=c3c03e3b28
Nothing is ever beyond scientific dispute. NAS does not understand science!
How can something that is actively disputed by scientists be beyond scientific dispute? The claim is literally nonsensical.
280
Agreed David.
If it’s not disputable, it’s not science.
180
The entire conga line of conjectures starts with the idea that the increase in CO2 in 250 years is entirely man made. That has never been proven. On the contrary, both C14 and C13 analysis show it is categorically not true. It’s not rocket surgery. Fossil fuel CO2 is not radioactive. Normal CO2 is. How can it all be beyond ‘scientific debate’.
There is nothing to debate and there never has been a debate. Man made CO2 is a lie.
And rapid ocean rises are not true. More and more severe storms caused by increased temperature are the exact opposite of classic meteorology. Crop failure is the opposite of classic botany and farming and the reality of booming food production. And NASA has reported from a 24 year survey that the world is rapidly and massively greening by exactly the same amount as CO2, sequestering trillions of tons of CO2 without changing the slow linear CO2 rise. The oceans are not acidic at the alkali pH of tap water and never will be acid. And after 37 years of this absurd proposition by alleged Climate Scientist and science ignoramus and former college footballer Al Gore, not even the simplest prediction has come true, and correct predictions are the classic proof of any Rational science.
However organizations across the world have been captured by political activists, generally by direct government appointment by socialist governments. These people, not their members, go along with UN Climate Science itself run by a political not scientific body the Intergovernmental Panel for (man made) Climate Change. The conclusion is baked into the title. And the former head of this political body says it is all about ending Capitalism and redistributing wealth.
So again, what debate? Certainly no science debate. The UN is not a democratic body. And Marxists don’t debate.

Yesterday I looked at food production vs population increase. Since 1961, cereal food production has increased by a massive 250%, with very little increase in land used for its production. During that time, global population has increased by 160%.

I wonder how many politicians, senior public serpents involved with anti-energy policy or anti-energy activists, who talk about “The Science” have any actual genuine understanding of the Scientific Method?
The same applies to those who “identify” as “scientists” but are dependent upon masses of taxpayer funding (and who thus have to conform to the Official Narrative for their junk science),
80
The atrocity of assassinating Charlie Kirk and it’s celebration by so many Leftists (US=”Liberals”) is the beginning of the end of that ideology. For those that werent already aware, it revealed the true nature of many if not most Leftists.
There are now requests for huge numbers of new chapters for Charlie’s organisation Turning Point USA.
110
Donald Trump would not be alive if he was sitting in a chair when talking. In our modern world, you have to be very brave to be a conservative politician. And in the media, conservatives don’t exist. There is only the Far Right. That is anyone who disagrees with the Marxists and the Fascists, the extreme left who also call themselves Anti Fascists. In their bizarro world, Trump is Hitler and the assassins are all hero Anti Fascists.
180
And it’s been a hard week for Democrat voters, most of whom are reasonably left of middle. To find themselves on the side of a long line of assassins and their media supporters has been too much for many. Resignations from the Democratic Party have been in the millions. Charlie Kirk is the JFK of this generation. And the connection with the Trans Gender movement is now far too obvious and documented to ignore, from mass school murders to political assassinations. Political extremism has undeniably turned young people with recognized and common personality crises into frustrated and angry killers. Trans surgery is appalling, sadistic and irreversible, wrecking lives. With predictable consequences.
And the Democrats are on the wrong tram. Their supporters are going home. It’s not that their team lost, but their team no longer represents them, as evidenced by Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK junior, even JD Vance. Former heroes of the left who now have to be described as mad by former supporters. Ron Howard, director of Hillbilly Elegy says he did not expect JD Vance could be so ‘divisive’.
The 2026 mid term elections next year will be a wipeout for the Democrats. And with illegal migration 1% of what it was under Biden, Trump voters are seeing real results this time. It’s hard to barrack for the Democrat losers any more. And it’s goodbye to octagenerians like miracle stock punter Nancy Pelosi, Trump hater Mitch McConnell and a whole slew of old players. Leaving only pencil neck Schiff in the Senate, if he survives multiple legal inquiries into his past behaviour.
170
I think of him more as the Malcolm X of this generation. A non-politician whose public speech violated the norms of ‘polite society’ and was willing to speak plain unvarnished truth that drove the establishment batty and made him beloved by ‘his people’. Like Malcolm, Kirk was universally reviled by his political opponents, who considered him a verbal ‘bomb-thrower’ rather than a statesman. He also has some similarities to MLK, due to him rejecting secular speech and grounding his philosophy and speech in scripture. But his willingness to be abrasive and make people uncomfortable is more like Malcolm IMO.
71
‘The 2026 mid term elections next year will be a wipeout for the Democrats.’
I disagree, Donnie will become a lame duck after the mid term because of his tariff policy.
12
I agree with you that predictions that Republicans will win the mid-terms ring hollow. One of the great truisms of American politics is that the party in power almost always loses seats in the midterm elections. With the Republican majority in the House of Representatives already wafer-thin, it is very unlikely they hold on to lower house of Congress. Is it possible the Republicans could defy those long odds? Sure, it’s possible. But it doesn’t seem likely.
Regarding Trump being a lame duck after the midterms, I think that is likely, but it won’t be because of his policy. While he’ll technically be a lame duck, Trumpism will still reign supreme in his party. Even though Trump himself won’t be on the 2028 ballot, the most prominent Republican candidates are all Trumpers or Trump allies, so the likelihood of an internal revolt against the old Orange Man are pretty slim. I think he’ll find himself in the same position Reagan was in 1986 (or would have been in if Alzheimers hadn’t robbed him of his faculties).

George Earl Preddy Jr. (February 5, 1919 – December 25, 1944) was a United States Army Air Forces officer during World War II and an American ace credited with 26.83 enemy air-to-air kills (a number that includes shared one-half and one-third victory credits),[1] ranking him as the top P-51 Mustang ace of World War II and eighth on the list of highest scoring American aces.[2][3]

One of the soldiers being held prisoner in the church said the two dead SS troopers were coming to kill them just before retreating.

50
My Dad was a machine gunner at the third battle of Ypres:
The Third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele, was a campaign of the First World War, [Edit: It was The Great War] fought by the Allies against the German Empire. The battle took place on the Western Front, from July to November 1917, for control of the ridges south and east of the Belgian city of Ypres in West Flanders, as part of a strategy decided by the Entente at conferences in November 1916 and May 1917.
He limped all his life and we all assumed he had been wounded in the battle but servicemen’s records are available to family. The truth is that he fell off a horse while training in Egypt [he was a bank clerk, not a ringer] His busted knee meant he could not go to France but being a clerk he was sent to Australia House, London, as a pay clerk. You could buy a lot of pommy beer on six bob. His knee couldn’t withstand the rigours of war so they sent him home. He was pay clerk on the ship home.
While on the high seas his machine gun company may have shot down the Red Baron.
20
After my father passed, one of the privates in his platoon, he was the T/Sgt platoon leader, treated my wife and I to dinner at a fancy French restaurant in NYC.
So I got the event from an eye witness.
As for rest of the pieced together narrative I have constructed for myself from tidbits of information …
I have no idea what’s true.
What little my father told me directly is difficult to believe and impossible to verify.
I too am an unreliable witness to my own life.
10
The identity of the person who shot down the Red Baron, Baron Manfred von Richthofen, remains a subject of historical debate, but the current consensus among historians, doctors, and ballistics experts is that he was killed by ground fire from an Australian anti-aircraft machine gunner.
While Captain Roy Brown of the Royal Air Force (RAF) was initially credited with the kill and is still officially recognized by the RAF, analysis of the fatal wound—penetrating from the right underarm and exiting near the left nipple—indicates the shot came from below and to the right, a position consistent with ground fire rather than a pursuing aircraft.
This evidence supports the theory that Sergeant Cedric Bassett Popkin of the 24th Machine Gun Company, Australian Imperial Force, was responsible for the fatal shot.
The circumstances of the engagement, including the positions of various allied servicemen, have led to the conclusion that Popkin was in the optimal position to fire the decisive bullet.

That could be correct if fighter planes always flew straight and level, never inverted, and attacking fighter planes always open fire from directly behind.
00
Your welcome. There were several other warbirds there but the Mustangs were head and shoulders more impressive. Maybe it was the skill of the pilots, but the fact the pilots had enough confidence in the Mustang to push the limits, speaks to the Mustang’s performance superlatives. Only a Spitfire flying with a Mustang looked almost as good. My old high school science teacher flew the P-51, and before that the P-38, and the P-40, in WWII with the 20th FG. I would quiz him on things and tell him things other pilots said about other airplanes, and he would just laugh and shake his head, and say the “Mustang could out fly em all.”
There was another video from this fly-in in Germany where there is a Mustang flying a duet with a P-38. The P-38 looked impressive too, but when they started doing a few mock dog fight maneuvers, the Mustang’s superiority became apparent.
The maneuvers being performed in this video are dangerous. The Mustang is a slick aircraft and builds up speed rapidly, it has a laminar flow wing that can stall without warning, and it can go from almost a stall to transonic very rapidly in a split S. The over top manuevers performed in the video run a high risk of G-induced black out. There was a Polish F-16 pilot killed a few weeks ago practicing an almost identical set as perfomed by the Mustang here for an upcoming airshow.

“New York Times Reaches Acceptance Stage”
“Last month I wrote that climate activists were trudging through the famous five stages of grief. They had passed through denial, anger, bargaining, and were wallowing in depression, but true acceptance still eluded them. Acceptance would mean recognizing that the so‑called “climate crisis” was never a physical reality but a political construct, that voters had rejected costly schemes, and that models could not substitute for reality. At the time, I noted they weren’t there yet.
Then along comes the New York Times with a long lament titled “It Isn’t Just the U.S. The Whole World Has Soured on Climate Politics.” For once, the tone is less fire‑and‑brimstone and more sighing resignation. Read carefully, and the whole essay reads like an unintentional admission that the Paris Agreement era is over. Not just faltering, not just delayed—over. In other words, it looks very much like acceptance.”

Rising temperatures increase added sugar intake disproportionately in disadvantaged groups in the USA
Extreme heat may affect added sugar consumption through the increased intake of drinks and frozen desserts, but such an impact is rarely quantified. Here, using individual transaction-level data for US households in 2004–2019, we find that added sugar consumption is positively related to temperature, notably within 12–30 °C at a rate of 0.70 g °C−1. This is primarily driven by the higher consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and frozen desserts. The magnitude of such impact is larger among households with lower income or educational levels. Our projections indicate a substantial nationwide increase in added sugar consumption of 2.99 g per day by 2095 (or equivalently 5 °C warming level), with vulnerable groups at an even higher risk. Our results highlight the critical need to mitigate health risks from the over-intake of added sugar and to explore dietary adaptation to climate change.

“Exposed: Anti-MAHA, Brought to You By Pfizer™ Sen. Bill Cassidy”
“Political rhetoric is replete with references to the “conservative agenda,” the “liberal agenda,” etc.
The reality: whereas activists and voters have legitimate ideologies, nationally elected politicians, by and large, are unburdened by sincere belief.
With few exceptions, they have no conviction; they have no ideology; they have no “agenda” beyond personal career advancement; as empirical fact, they are wildly disproportionately sociopathic.”

“THE Question On ALL ‘Vaccines'”
“Hep-B is a bad disease. It is blood-borne, which means among infants and young children the only way it is reasonably transmissible is from the mother to child at the time of birth.
For the last few decades we have jabbed every infant at birth against this. The AICP is expected to recommend a delay.
This is giving plenty of people conniptions but in the process NPR unknowingly put the correct data on the table but of course failed to ask the question related to it.”
Behind a wall but you can read this –
“The vote is expected to take place Thursday during the next meeting of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP. The meeting is scheduled for September 18-19 at a CDC office in Atlanta, Georgia.
For more than 30 years, the CDC has advised that infants get the first of three shots of the hepatitis B vaccine at birth. In that time, the potentially fatal disease has been virtually eradicated among American children. Between 1990 and 2022, case rates plummeted 99 percent among people age 19 and younger.”
“That sounds very impressive but is intentionally misleading. This is, in fact, precisely what the so-called “medical community” and their stenographers and co-conspirators in ****ing you and your children do on a daily basis.”
