Net Zero Costs Could Exceed £7 Trillion – IEA

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

    By Paul Homewood

Another dagger in the heart of Net Zero.

    From the Telegraph:

Reaching 2050 target could exceed even highest official predictions of £7.6tn amid ‘faulty assumptions’

Reaching net zero will cost Britain even more than feared, a report has found.

The gross cost to the UK economy of achieving the 2050 target could exceed even the highest official predictions of £7.6tn, an Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) paper said.

The report said that previous estimates of the financial impact of net zero were based on “fantasy assumptions” of the cost of renewable energy and low-carbon technology.

Lord Frost, the head of the IEA, said the low estimates were also the result of “heroic assumptions” of the cost of household technologies such as heat pumps and electric cars.

David Turver, the paper author, said: “The various public bodies responsible for working out the costs of net zero have not been entirely truthful in their analysis. They have made fantasy assumptions about the cost of renewables and low-carbon technologies.

“The true cost of net zero is much higher than we have been led to believe. If we are to have a serious debate about net zero, the various public bodies need to be more transparent and frankly more honest.”

The Government’s approach to reaching net zero has come under increasing scrutiny over the last year, with pressures to go further on green policy from inside Labour.

On Monday night, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero said it rejected the IEA analysis, which it said ignored the costs of “staying on the fossil fuel roller-coaster”.

“Reaching 2050 target could exceed even highest official predictions of £7.6tn amid ‘faulty assumptions’”

The Americans talk about ‘deliverables’. The great scam is that ‘net zero’ is not a measure of the world CO2 level which is the ONLY deliverable.

Say the UK output no CO2 at all. What difference would it make to world CO2 levels?

In this sleight of hand, moving the target from world atmospheric CO2 level to ntt CO2 ’emissions’ in a single country, politicians have moved from something which is allegedly meaningful to something which is completely meaningless, even if Al Gore was right.

In fact fossil fuel CO2 has never been proven to be higher than 2.0% of atmospheric CO2. And atmospheric CO2 is only 2% of what is in the ocean.
The 2% of fossil fuel Co2 in the air is simply the same as that in the ocean due to the extremely rapid exchange between ocean and sky. And yet we are told fossil fuel CO2 has somehow stuck in the air. It’s nonsense, not science.

I have struggled for years to find ANY science at all in what has been legislated around the world, allegedly to save the planet to remove an unproven threat. After 38 years of this massive expense, the word hoax is not strong enough. And Australia has been a world leader in innovative punishing taxes. And science departments around the world say nothing. It’s not worth their jobs to speak out.

Real scientists know it is all fantasy. And if they spoke out, it would not be printed. And they would lose their jobs, just like Dr Peter Ridd. Because the people in charge know full well it is a hoax because it is their hoax. Total official belief in Climate Change is also a requirement for Chief Scientist, the BOM and CSIRO. So Australia and the UK are crippled economies and getting rapidly worse. And somehow every move sends more cash to China, which is why Donald Trump calls it the China Hoax.

” The new 2026 “Combating Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill” punishes speech that causes fear—even if no harm occurs—with up to 5 years in prison. ……. “The law applies to nearly everything: tweets, blogs, memes, even quoting scripture online. It explicitly states that it doesn’t matter if anyone actually felt hatred or fear. And it allows the government to go back in time and charge people for things they said before the law existed.”

AU citizens are totally screwed if this proposal becomes law. It makes anyone, anywhere in AU, at any time, a criminal just because someone “felt offended” or a govt dweeb decides to target an individual.

    The Censorship Network in Germany

Over the past several years, investigative reporting has revealed a range of coor-
dinated efforts to suppress online speech in Western countries. Often referred to
as the Censorship-Industrial Complex, these networks of information suppres-
sion (mostly operating under the guise of “countering-disinformation” or “hate
speech”) have been particularly widespread in the United States, United King-
dom and the European Union. Within the EU, Germany plays an outsized role in
this complex, with a plethora of government and private nodes engaged in mon-
itoring online speech and advocating increasing levels of content suppression.

The danger posed by the ruling class (public serpents, politicians and others with license to appropriate power and wealth for themselves) is when they notice that people don’t like them and what they are doing.

The h8 word then becomes a weapon. Someone in the ruling class decides that you h8 them and therefore that you are a criminal. Failure to immediately confess then becomes a criminal act as well. And back the world goes about 1000 years to the age which gave rise to the Magna Carta.

And as per the Wizard of Id, the news filters through to the ruling class that the peasants are revolting. But the self appointed ruling class already know that because the peasants are smelly and keep shouting things like the King is a fink.

They don’t care that we hate them. All they care about is that we’re noticing what they’re up to. Their response to this is further restrictions on the dissemination or broadcast of inconvenient facts and truth, hence the various attacks on free speech. In THEIR ideal world, even if one of the plebs discovers that the government is up to something dodgy, he won’t be allowed to tell anybody else.

Steve, your explanation is at least as good as mine.

Sadly, I’m really no good at figuring out what others care about. And I think my crystal ball went out in a recent spring clean so I have no idea what their ideal world might be like. And speaking only for myself I don’t H8 the ruling class. That would be self-destructive.

I do regard it as a very strange thing when people take it on themselves to make up rules others must live by. Especially when the rules make no sense and appear to be nothing more than instruments of oppression. Defining disagreement to be H8 to be punished is one such rule.

As a primary enforcer of Australia’s OSA and noted zealot for global takedowns, you are uniquely positioned to provide information about the law’s free speech implications—both in the U.S. and abroad. This information will inform the Committee’s legislative reforms aimed, in part, at ensuring that foreign censors cannot silence protected American speech. Accordingly, we respectfully request your cooperation and ask that you make yourself available for a transcribed interview with the Committee. The Committee has also learned that you have colluded with pro-censorship entities in the United States to facilitate Australia’s, and other, global censorship regimes. According to documents obtained by the Committee, you recently gave the “keynote” at a non-public event at Stanford University on September 25, 2025. 7 Other attendees and panelists included officials from some of the entities with the worst track records of extraterritorial censorship, including the European Union and Brazil. 8 The stated purpose of this event was to “bring[] together policy makers, academics, and experienced Silicon Valley experts to discuss the state of compliance and enforcement of existing regulations related to online trust and safety.” 9 Put plainly, theroundtable sought to facilitate cooperation with global censorship by bringing together foreign officials who have directly targeted American speech and represent a serious threat to the First Amendment.

A dork or geek can be similar, but at least they know the subject.

A Govt Dweeb is seat warming apparatchik, reveling in his imagined power, who is actually foolish/inept, etc. A dangerous combination of ego, arrogance, ignorance, and positional power.

“Mody Speaks” YouTube channel looks at the Left’s silence or even support of their favourite religious fundamentalist, anti-Western, anti-women, anti-freedom regime, Iran.

    It also features an interview of an Iranian woman by a clueless Leftist reporter;

Masih Alinejad delivers a brutal reality check after Ana Kasparian downplays the Iran protests and blames the U.S. and Trump.

This clip exposes how Western media narratives collapse when confronted by people who actually lived under the regime.

    Quoting Mody, the channel commentator:

Leftists are quickly becoming the most hated people on the Internet right now because of how willing they are to sell their soul for some money and how eager they are to support oppressive regimes and tear down real warriors who are fighting the fight for freedom. Today guys, we’re going to be diving in on the absolute hypocrisy exploding out of this Iran crisis.

    Video.

Harris Sultan looks at the Left’s favourite religious fundamentalist, anti-Western, anti-women, anti-freedom, terrorist sponsoring regime, Iran, part of the anti-Western power bloc of China, Russia and North Korea, not to mention the useful idiots of the Left, a major part of that anti-Western, anti-freedom power bloc, but who exist as elements within our Western societies which they are trying to destroy.

Something historic is unfolding in Iran — and the world cannot look away.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is teetering on the edge. After 47 years of repression, brutality, and ideological warfare against the West, the Iranian people have had enough. This is not another protest cycle. This is a full-scale rebellion — and possibly the most consequential geopolitical moment of this century.

Despite an internet blackout, despite mass killings, despite IRGC bullets sprayed into unarmed crowds, Iranians are still coming out in unprecedented numbers. Over 12,000 unarmed protesters killed in just days, mosques burned, regime forces defecting, and chants of “Javid Shah” echoing across cities. This regime is cracking.

    The Islamic Republic has:

    Sponsored Hamas, Hezbollah, Assad

    Backed Putin’s war in Ukraine

Sold Iran’s future to China for cheap oil

Spent decades chanting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”

And now its own people are rising up to end it.

    This video breaks down:

Why this uprising is different from Iraq, Libya, or Afghanistan

Why Reza Pahlavi is the unifying figure past revolutions lacked

Why intervention is not just moral, but strategically vital for the West

How Iran is a core pillar of the anti-Western alliance with Russia, China, and North Korea

Why taking out the Islamic Republic weakens the entire axis against the free world

Why Iranians themselves are pleading for US support

And why this could become the first ex-Muslim country in history

This is not “World War III”.
This is a dying regime facing a population that has completely rejected Islamism.

Why Reza Pahlavi is the unifying figure past revolutions lacked

I have my doubts about this. The Shah was deposed for a reason. The Ayatollah may have been worse, but life under the Shah was no picnic. I don’t see how installing his son as ruler and restoring the monarchy would do anything other than reset the clock back to 1954. They’d want him gone a generation from now.

They need to make a total break from the past and relegate both the monarchy and the theocracy to the dustbin of history.

” For the last 46 years, the American public have been gaslit about an Iranian terrorism threat that pales in comparison to what America has done. ”

..and people believing what you listed above are right in the middle of it. 45years of propaganda about what Iran is like… or any other country with oil that stands up to the USA. The Rob B article below lays out the American sabotage of Iran over every one of those 45 years, and their regime change money is pouring into Iran right now.

The most documented US-linked precursor exports involved thiodiglycol (TDG), a key ingredient for producing mustard gas (sulfur mustard). American companies, with US Department of Commerce export licenses, supplied hundreds of tons of TDG and related dual-use chemicals to Iraq starting in the mid-1980s.

…sounds just like Ukraine these days!

The Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), an Iranian opposition group with a Marxist-Islamist ideology, had long waged guerrilla warfare against the Islamic Republic, including assassinations and bombings that killed thousands. Designated a terrorist organization by the US.in 1997 for attacks that included killing Americans in the 1970s, the MEK found unlikely patrons in Washington after the 2003 Iraq invasion.

…and that sounds like ISIS all over again, the Yanks arming and training terrorist groups within another country. The difficult question is, what would Iran’s history be without the Yanks poking their nose in and trying to take it over. Their usual methods are foment trouble, blame the Govt they don’t like, when that Govt reacts either invade or kidnap the ruler.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

I always find it fascinating how some individual ends up as the centre of attention. Like for example Lech Walensky did in Poland. Or how creeps like Kevin Rudd find their way to the top of the greasy pole.

Reza Pahlavi may well carry the day but prior to today I had never heard of him and I don’t have a crystal ball. Everything will be obvious in hindsight.

My only wish is either that the CIA and pals are not involved or at least they don’t FUBAR the whole thing again (or is that still).

I don’t actually understand why both Starmfuhrer and Al Albo are so upset about being portrayed in bikinis.

Their respective regimes don’t even believe in two binary genders* and in Australia they prosecute people for “misgendering”.

Plus Australian Government officials** are incapable of defining what a woman is. In the absence of a definition, how do we know Starmfuhrer and Al Albo aren’t in fact women? What is a woman? If that question can’t be answered they can be portrayed in any clothing one wishes.

      ==

      * The slight difference with Once Great Britain is that their High Court ruled that gender is defined by biological sex. Nevertheless, wokeness prevails. In Australia Gillard changed the Sex Discrimination Act to define gender by self-identifcation alone, no other criteria including biology or physical appearance.

So much for the all those hot takes that Renee Good didn’t hit the ICE officer with her car and that he shot her for no good reason. Don’t weaponize your vehicle … or the cops might weaponize their gun.

The article couldn’t resist trying to minimize his injuries by pointing out that the officer walked off after being hit without assistance. I’d imagine he got one heck of a jolt of adrenaline when he heard the car engine rev and saw it coming at him, and wasn’t feeling much of anything he came down from that rush. He was also probably in shock.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/ice-officer-who-shot-renee-good-internal-injuries-sources-say/

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot Renee Good last week in Minneapolis, Jonathan Ross, suffered internal bleeding to the torso following the incident, according to two U.S. officials briefed on his medical condition.

It was unclear how extensive the bleeding was. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Ross’ injury, but has not yet responded to CBS News’ requests for more information. This story will be updated as we learn more.

Videos from the scene showed Ross walking away after the incident.

Ross has not returned to work, one source said, but did not say why.

Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, previously acknowledged that Ross was taken to the hospital after the shooting and was released the same day. She said he was recovering from his injuries, describing him as an experienced law enforcement officer who believed he was defending himself and fellow agents.

“The officer was hit by the vehicle. She hit him. He went to the hospital. A doctor did treat him. He has been released,” Noem told reporters on Jan. 7.

Ross, a 10-year law enforcement veteran with ICE, was seriously injured in June in a separate incident in the Minneapolis area when he was dragged by a car during an attempted arrest, requiring 33 stitches and hospital care, court records show.

U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino told CBS News in an interview Sunday that Ross “has had several threats against his life,” adding, “he’s in a safe location. He’s recovering from those injuries, and we’re thankful that he’s recovering.”

Bunnings are now offering a solar/battery deal. Either subscription or upfront capital. Prices look reasonable:
    https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/bunnings-zelora-solar-battery-mb3232/

    Solar Capacity 3.96 kW 6.6 kW 8.8 kW 10.56 kW 13.2 kW
    Battery Capacity 7.8 kWh 10.4 kWh 13 kWh 15.6 kWh 23.4 kWh
    Monthly Sub. (From) $112 $136 $157 $174 $202
    Minimum Cost (10 yrs) $15,058 $18,284 $21,108 $23,393 $27,157
    Purchase outright $11,159 $13,982 $16,268 $18,016 $21,376

$21k for 13.2kW solar and 23.4kW batter would suit a large household. A couple in an efficient residence would get good value from the 6.6kW/10.4kWh system. Go up a size if you are planning on using an EV for a second car.

If I was to invest $21k for 10 years, assuming a respectable 7%, I would have $41,310. It therefore follows that if I purchased your recommended solar + battery system for $21,000 instead of investing the money, I would have to save over $4,000 annually off my power bill to make the solar system worthwhile. Under these circumstances, why are you recommending such a system? Where is the power bill savings?

What allowance have you made for electricity price inflation or do you think Blackout and Sleezy will eventually deliver on their lower electricity price?

And show me a zero risk investment that gets 7%pa.

A large household would use 30kWh/day. And the $21k system would easily produce that most days. So energy saving around $4400/ year.

And you do not actually need to spend capital. They have a monthly paymentent option.

        • #
          Graeme4

Nope, your assumption are wrong. My electricity cost me $2180 in 2019, and minus solar, would have only cost $2471 in 2025. Currently I average $936/yer savings. Nowhere near $4000.
And it doesn’t matter whether you pay monthly, yearly or the whole lot initially. It’s still around the same financial outlay.

I made no assumptions about your costs or savings.

You have may no effort to answer the questions regarding your 7% rate of return over inflation.

Rick do they come with a ‘diode’ so the grid cannot drain your battery when its short of power? Its not going to be worth trying to feed onto the grid in the day with the oversupply we already have, so we just need power coming in, not going both ways.

      00

      • #
        RickWill

Batteries have power flow sensors in the meter box and do not export from the battery unless they are programmed to do it.

The latest solar inverters have remote control over export so they can ben shut off by grid controllers to better manage power flow. However that will have reduced concern as more batteries get installed so the excess rooftop feeds to batteries rather than being export.

Woolworths is partnering with Sea Forest (seaweed based stock feed) in a trial to reduce emissions from the food supply chain, by theoretically reducing the methane emissions from beef production using seaweed products as a food supplement. A multi year trial will be undertaken on a property in NSW.
Other investors/partners include DIT AgTech and Teys Australia.

In January 2025, Denmark became the first country in the world to require that dairy farmers give their herds an additive called Bovaer or, alternatively, feed them a high-fat diet. The additive is meant to cut the animals’ production of methane — a potent greenhouse gas. Davidsen began adding Bovaer to his herd’s feed in October, but not long after the cows fell ill.

Although some farmers began administering the additive earlier in 2025, most waited until the cutoff date of Oct. 1. Within a couple of weeks, reports of problems had begun coming in: Cows were eating less and producing less milk; some suffered fever, diarrhea, and weakness.

‘Australia should reconsider alliance with ‘fiercely unpredictable’ US, former foreign ministers say.

‘Bob Carr says Trump foreign policy presents a ‘colossal challenge’ for Australia and Gareth Evans says the Aukus pact should be reconsidered. (Guardian)

“The American Alliance might be in jeopardy.”

      Finally! Some good news!

Of course Trump is keen to dump Aussie anyway if we don’t undergo a regime change soon, or he’ll have to kidnap our president to get some sense into his Southern Pacific Military Base.

If Oz pulls out of AUKUS we are throwing away the downpayment monies on those useless subs, a few billion dollars.

China is no longer a threat, so we should walk away from AUKUS and the Alliance.

What’s funny to me is the notion that somehow Australia’s relationship with the US would have been somehow more ‘predictable’ if the Harris/Biden leadership had continued.
I suspect what feels unpredictable is Trump’s upending of the EU globalist world order’s babysitter relationship with Australia.

Net Zero renewables are reliable and cheaper.
      And a great success.
Australia is on its’ way to Decarbonized Multicultural Utopia.
      Was that not sufficiently ‘predictable’?

“An administrator’s report produced by Olvera Advisors into United Employment found the labour-hire company had been in existence for less than a year and owed employees more than $6 million in wages, superannuation and other entitlements when it collapsed. It also failed to pay the Australian Tax Office more than $5 million.”

Nooo… surely there’s no scam artists involved in the NDIS multi-billion dollar rorts!! That must be $11million that the Govt failed to pay the directors! Certainly nothing in there about the directors being in jail, but, its just Govt money and no-one cares..

    For the AI fans..

“Grok is not creating these images on its own. It does not think or learn. It simply does as requested.”

From an expert quoted on the ABC.

“an Iranian American researcher in gender equity and diversity,” and a “a socio-legal scholar in the field of gender-based violence at RMIT University, ”

So I’m not sure what will happen when AI starts to think for itself.

    Well, who’s surprised??

“Kazakhstan. The United States, through the American Embassy in Astana, is encouraging young Kazakhstanis aged 17-22 to attend the US Coast Guard Academy. The advertisement is being broadcast through popular social media. Candidates are promised the role of “the first ever” Kazakhs to study in the United States, with the Americans paying for the training of future officers and leaders and the establishment of ties with the United States. However, all those who train will be required to fulfill a 15-year contract with the Kazakh Ministry of Defense, in some cases pledging their property. ”
