Yesterday the news carried an article on a native title claim over a huge area from west of Melbourne right out to Mt Baw Baw in the east, huge area. What wasn’t mentioned that there is also a native title claim that sits almost directly on top of the “new” area, with a different group. This claim covers from well west of Heathcote ,north past Shepparton and east to Mount Buffalo another HUGE area.
If these claims are approved then nearly all of the middle section of Victoria will be “managed” by a very small group of people. I am certain that Murray River groups have also applied for lands along and south of the river. I fear that not long before all public lands, open to everyone for all sorts of recreational activities will be difficult to access.
Oh well, what would be a good public chant for such a land grab.

Just had a look at two of the claimants for native title over Melbourne, one lady, surname Kerr, the other man surname Cohen Hunter. Neither claimant bears any physical resemblance that could be attributed to the traditional people. Both bear physical attributes of people of European decent and the surname of one at least shows ties back to the twelve tribes of Israel. Wonder why they don’t try and claim land rights in, most likely the U.K. and the Middle East. Just asking.

It was so cold in my garage that the low tyre pressure alarm on L/H front was on when I went out. That rim is not perfect and has a very slow leak that would not show up till the end of summer if we had a real autumn and summer.
Southern Hemisphere warming season sunshine is up on last year but mostly just bringing more moisture rather than real warmth. Althour October was apparently well above average temperature across Australia according to the BoM.

Cold here. We went to the Remembrance Day service at Marysville where it was perishing cold and bucketing with rain. Fortunately the wind didn’t blow as hard as forecast or the sea of brollies there might have taken off. On the way home the car registered 5C along the Marysville-Buxton Road…shiver. I didn’t expect to be wearing a warm woolly winter coat and furry hat today, but there you go, needs must!
We then made our way to Thornton for a meeting re. the proposed Samsung solar industrial site at Rubicon. Nearly all there were Samsung employees, pleasant people, but we left them politely aware of our views. There is another meeting at 5pm and I hope more locals can attend it.
The Rubicon Valley is beautiful and people don’t live here to be plagued by industrial development.
A short while ago we had a loud rattly hail shower.

Thanks for going Annie, sorry I couldn’t make it. One big burning question I have is, was the land compulsory acquired? Can’t imagine some of the longer term residents selling but I don’t know and if the price is right sometimes it makes moral decisions a little harder. Interesting little exclusion islands around a couple of houses, can’t imaging it would be pleasant living surrounded by thousands of solar panels. Worse of course for the residents across the road, probably no compensation for their loss of a beautiful outlook.

I met one of the residents from across the road; she is really upset. I don’t know about compulsory purchase; I gather from elswhere that the owners are receiving flack from some locals. I think vicious rudeness is not the way to deal with it but I do think the project is a slap in the face to thoughtful locals.

If I understand what you are saying , that is how it normally works when you buy a phone from a network provider. They are normally locked to that service.
I generally just buy a SIM and unlocked phones from a generic supplier like JB, Hardly Normal, BigW etc or umpteen others online.
They will usually unlock it for $. Depends what your contract arrangement was.
