Donald Trump tells it like it is..

“We’re not going to let windmills get built because we’re not going to destroy our country any further than it’s already been destroyed,” Trump said. “You go and look at these beautiful plains and valleys and they’re loaded up with this garbage that gets worse and worse looking with time…What bullshit this is.”

Even die hard Greens and Conservationists will agree. Then there’s the useless Snowy II. And all those 30,000km of unnecessary transmissions lines to save our environment by destroying it.

Why is it Governments do not have to produce a cost/benefit ratio justification. How much real power could we have had from the $12Billion cost of unfinished Snowy II? It was supposed to be finished in two years for 1/5th of that.

And how many people really believe that wind and solar are FREE/CHEAP/Eternal and will bring prices down? Anyone? It’s not investment. Investment is something which lasts 200 years.

The only purposes of “renewables” are to destroy Western Civilisation and enrich Leftist Elites who profit from subsidy harvesting schemes.

The obvious proof of this is the fact that China is exempt from the anti-energy policies of the West except TRUMP’s America where ruinous anti-energy policies have been abandoned.

Why should the world’s largest CO2 emitter by far, China, which emits more CO2 than all the other developed nations combined and with twice the emissions of the second biggest emitter, the United States, be exempt from CO2 emissions laws and anti-energy polices in general? (Not that CO2 matters.)

China is a major nuclear weapons power, nuclear reactor power, AI power, robotics power, manufacturing power, space power with moon landings (manned planned before 2030) and a permanently manned space station and has a 2.5 million+ man military and has some cities more modern than any in the West and is NOT a developing country as its supporters claim. It should be subject to the same anti-energy restraints as Western countries (assuming CO2 was a problem which of course it isn’t).

Clearly, the real reason the Left allow China to use energy without restriction, and the West isn’t allowed, is to achieve the total world domination of China and the economic and other destruction of the West.

And in the West, China has the world’s largest slave army of useful idiots of the Left with which to achieve it.

Economic Systems: The alarmists keep telling us their concern about global warming is all about man’s stewardship of the environment. But we know that’s not true. A United Nations official has now confirmed this.

At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.

Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists hope will be adopted at the Paris climate change conference later this year, she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”

The only economic model in the last 150 years that has ever worked at all is capitalism. The evidence is prima facie: From a feudal order that lasted a thousand years, produced zero growth and kept workdays long and lifespans short, the countries that have embraced free-market capitalism have enjoyed a system in which output has increased 70-fold, work days have been halved and lifespans doubled.

          Australian Democratic Labor Party Calls For Review Of UN 1975 Lima Declaration;

In 1975, with no public consultation, the ALP government of Gough Whitlam signed Australia up to the United Nations inspired Lima Declaration which required Australia to reduce its manufacturing capabilities by around 30% and to commit to import that amount from other preferred countries.

The Declaration also mandates that we import as much primary produce as we can consume; such as fruit, meat etc.

After the ALP committed us to these requirements, Australians were told this agreement would “flatten the world’s production to redistribute wealth to give all nations a “fair share’”.

The DLP is not against any country getting its fair share. Nor would we oppose a genuine agreement that aims at improving the standard of living in underdeveloped countries, but the Lima Declaration is not such an agreement. As time has told, its ‘requirements’ were more insidious than we were led to believe.

The DLP believes the original target of a 30% reduction in Australian Manufacturing was far too high and that there were better ways to assist developing countries. What has transpired in the years since the ALP signed the Lima Declaration is that the 30% target has in fact exploded, with current estimates putting it at more than 90%.

He has the precedent of Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis and Washington. And it worked. All Democrat cities who also called the months long riots and destruction and murder ‘largely peaceful’.

Pelosi’s refusal to use the National Guard was core in Jan 20th. They were on standby at all times.

As for Trump’s authority, illegal immigration is his specific area of authority under the Constitution and the rioters were waving Mexican flags, not Californian ones. They are welcome to go home.

In a Federation with one border, the only things conceded Federally are defence, immigration, foreign policy, customs and trade, currency. The United States is exactly that. As is Canada, Australia, UK and more, even the old Soviet Union.

Individual States retain control over education, police, health and everything else. Illegal immigration is without question exclusively a Federal matter and the people being arrested in every case were convicted and foreign criminals operating and living illegally in America. Many but not all were from Mexico.

The very idea of Sanctuary states is illegal under the Constitution.

We don’t have 200 years, we only have 25 years to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to zero. Because we have delayed so much already, the transition has to be more abrupt.

So what are the Chinese doing about it Simon?

They are building two coal plants per week.

Don’t you read or understand anything written on the site?

They are the world’s biggest CO2 emitters by far.

They are not a developing country. And even if they were, shouldn’t they be building what you claim is the world’s cheapest and most reliable form of electricity production, wind and solar?

I sometimes wonder if you’re a human or a bot, as you just keep repeating the same things.

Why should the West be destroying their economies when China produces as much CO2 as the West? And why don’t anti-energy policies apply to China?

Ah, the great Michael Mann. I found this little gem. I don’t know if this has been posted before, but here goes. Just to prove how delusional he really is, Michael Mann posted a video. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3Fg4md1pEgA.
This was posted in February 2024 by Democracy Now after Mann “won” his defamation case. This trial was manipulated so that Mann’s team could sideline any real discussion about whether he had messed with his hockey stick data – we all know he did. Mann and his team made certain that it was never about establishing scientific truth. It was always about sending a message. Don’t you dare question us and man made climate change. We have very deep pockets and we will ruin you. This video is an attempt by Mann to justify his despicable, bullying and intimidating behaviour by accusing his opposition of doing exactly what he has done on numerous occasions. When was the last time Mann was taken to court over his climate bollocks? It’s Mann who is the serial litigator. Just ask Tim Ball. Oh, sorry, you can’t because the poor bloke died and Mann never paid him a cent of the damages awarded by the court. Hypocrisy from a full blown narcissist on a grand scale. The only scientists vilified and intimidated are those that have the cojones to question the main stream narrative. These are the guys who loose their jobs, are cancelled, ostracised and taken to court by Mann. His hubris is boundless. It also speaks volumes about the reach of the blob that, even though Mann has since been found to have lied in court about his loss of grants, he still has his prestigious position at the University of Pennsylvania. Anybody else in any other field would have been “let go” for such behaviour. This egotistical, odious little twerp is scarred for life because somebody looked at him funny in a supermarket. Anybody taking bets on Mann actually paying a cent of the $1.1m that has been awarded against him. Anybody??

…dozens of reconstructions since then and they all show the ‘hockey stick’ shape…

Unfortunately Mann’s original 1998 ‘hockey stick’ paper (mbh98) was a very intentionally contrived construct:

Primarily Northern Hemisphere (99 of 113 proxies, with 14 from the SH),
Used a wide array of different measures (different proxies) ranging from tree rings, to ice cores, to sediments, to speleothems: all showing great variance within their proxy groups.

Primarily selected tree ring data (74 of their 113 composites) with selected periods (the only 2 tree-ring series from Australia/NZ had data back to 1625, but only the data from 1750 onward was included).

MBH98 unconventionally centred the data only over the calibration period (1902-1980) thus heavily weighting later proxies (eg bristlecone pines) and hugely underestimate variance.

And somehow they produced a temperature series with error bars indicating significant change had taken place?
How would this pass a proper peer review, especially by statisticians?

Every subsequent publication pushing this narrative has simply taken mbh98 as a model:
A huge array of hugely variable data is available, and using new methods to eliminate the variability, they can create any result they wish.

              McIntyre and McKitrick (2003, 2005)
“Corrections to the Mann et al. (1998) Proxy Data Base and Northern Hemisphere Average Temperature Series”
“Hockey sticks, principal components, and spurious significance”

Key finding: MBH98 used a non-centered PCA, which:
Centered proxy data only over the 1902–1980 calibration period, not over the full length of the series.
This boosted 20th-century trends (e.g., from bristlecone pine series) into PC1, even if they weren’t dominant over the full period.
Result: PC1 absorbed less total variance (~6%) than it would have in conventional (full-period centered) PCA (~76% in some networks).

Yup, like all the other failed climate catastrophe predictions. The Arctic will be ice free in summer by 2014, oops, 2015, oops, well sometime in the future. The Maldives will be completely underwater by 2018. Well that happened. A Pentagon analysis warned of global anarchy due to climate change. Major European cities would be underwater by 2020, at which point Britain would suffer from a “Siberian” climate. Yup, that happened. New York City would be underwater by 2015. Snow is a thing of the past. Head over to https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/maps/historical-declination/ and have a look at the magnetic pole movement. Also have a look at https://www.sciencealert.com/nasa-is-watching-a-vast-growing-anomaly-in-earths-magnetic-field as well as many other resources if you care to look for them. There are those who will put their head in the sand and say that this is not a cause of climate change. There are “climate scientists” who will tell you for all sorts of bogus reasons that this is not an issue. But with growing evidence of how this is affecting the global electrical circuit and funneling solar and space energy in to different points on the planet, it is becoming more and more difficult to ignore. The current drop of 5% per decade in magnetic field strength is accelerating. If we only have 25 years left, it will be bugger all to do with CO2. Human caused climate change is the smoke screen to divert peoples attention away from what is really happening and the establishment climate cretins will defend this CO2 b*llocks right to the very end.

Simon, you suffer from what is known as “climate hysteria” or “eco-anxiety”.

Some suggested coping strategies from Goolag AI. I don’t agree with all the suggestions or interpretations but they might help you.

Here’s a more detailed look at how to manage eco-anxiety:

        1. Acknowledge and Accept Your Feelings:

-Recognize that eco-anxiety is a normal response to the environmental challenges we face.
-Accept that feeling anxious about the climate is valid and understandable.
-Don’t try to suppress your emotions; instead, acknowledge them and allow yourself to feel them.

        2. Take Action:

-Channel your anxiety into positive action, even small steps can make a difference.
-Engage in activities like recycling, reducing waste, conserving energy, or supporting sustainable businesses.
-Participate in local environmental initiatives, join community gardening projects, or advocate for change with local officials.
-Focus on what you can control and make changes in your own life that align with your values.

        3. Connect with Others:

-Talk to friends, family, or support groups about your feelings of eco-anxiety.
-Sharing your experiences with others who understand can help normalize your feelings and reduce feelings of isolation.
-Seek out communities or online forums where you can connect with like-minded individuals who share your concerns.

        4. Prioritize Self-Care:

-Ensure you are getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and engaging in regular physical activity.
-Find activities that help you relax and reduce stress, such as spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing hobbies.
-Limit your exposure to overwhelming news and social media content about climate change.
-Seek professional help from a therapist or counselor if your eco-anxiety is significantly impacting your well-being.

        5. Seek Balanced Information:

-Stay informed about environmental issues, but be mindful of information overload.
-Seek out balanced news sources and limit your exposure to content that triggers anxiety.
-Focus on solutions and positive developments in environmental conservation.

        6. Cultivate Hope and Resilience:

-Focus on the progress that has been made and the positive actions being taken.
-Believe in your ability to make a difference, even if it’s a small one.
-Remember that collective action and community support can be powerful forces for change.

And if I may add one of my own Simon, do you have a worm farm to recycle kitchen waste?

Don’t forget also that people in the Thinking Community have similar bad feelings as they watch people like you advocate for the destruction of the energy supply and Western Civilisation itself while they remain silent about China.

According to NASA Since 1850, global surface temperatures have risen roughly 0.11°F (0.06°C) per decade from 1850 to 1982.. Since 1982, they have risen 0.36°F (0.20°C) per decade.

So temperatures rose 0.79°C with CO2 rising from 280 to 341 p.p.m. (1850 to 1982) whereas temperatures rose by 0.80°C (1982 to 2022) due to 77 p.p.m. rise in emissions. Yet global emissions have almost doubled (1.93 times or 19,926,203,050 to 38,521,997,860 (CO2 emissions tons) yet there is no acceleration showing (except in alarmist claims).
So the enormous increase in human emissions in those last 40 years MIGHT have caused a total of 0.01°C increase in warming (assuming their figures are correct).
I see no reason to panic.

Do you per chance catch up with King Charles for high tea Peter?

Indeed, time has run out for Charles’s forecasts of climate apocalypse. In March 2009, Charles warned that only 100 months remained to avert “irretrievable climate collapse.” That forecast expired in 2017, with no climate collapse. Subsequent dating of doom was pushed further out and became less precise. In 2015, the 100-month deadline was stretched to 35 years.

A 2021 paper on extreme climate forecasts tabulates 79 predictions of climate-caused catastrophe dating back to the first Earth Day in 1970. Charles has the distinction of being the only individual to be featured three times, with separate predictions of climate apocalypse. As the paper’s co-author David Rode of Carnegie Mellon University comments, alongside Stanford biologist Paul Ehrlich, Prince Charles has “warned repeatedly of ‘irretrievable ecosystem collapse’ if actions were not taken, repeated the prediction with a new definitive end date. Their predictions have repeatedly been apocalyptic and highly certain . . . and so far, they’ve also been wrong.”

It seems The Great Reset is fundamentally rooted in an ability, nay a right, to continually replace failed prophecies with new climate doom targets. Accountability or scientific evidence is irrelevant to the predictions due to the status of the man issuing them. Hence there seemingly is a catastrophe deadline, that needs to be addressed immediately, yet it can be perpetually pushed forward into an indefinite future.

When my mother passed away, for the purpose of probate I had to go through various government mandated identification procedures. One of them involved logging onto a certain website and the website App taking a picture of me which I’m pretty sure was submitted to Australia’s Government facial database and compared with one on file which they would have from passport and driver’s license pictures. There were a number of other identification procedures as well.

How much of all this is orchestrated and planned decades in advance, like many other countries?

There’s an individual with an IQ of 66 with supposed military marksman skills doing life in prison with no trial, no inquiry, all evidence destroyed and records sealed intil 2071, and only ONE person allowed access to the records.
What does that say about what this country has become?

The Thinking Community must not continue to allow the Left to keep saying that “renewables” are cheap, reliable or a substitute for power stations.

They are none of those things and there is no example anywhere in the world of an industrial nation that runs on wind and solar renewables. Or where renewables are cheap. Or reliable.

As with just about everything the left say, except when they fight and call each liars, they are lying.

The claim that renewables are cheap is an obvious lie because the more we get, the more expensive electricity becomes.

And the Left also like to count hydro as “renewable” but that is a properly engineered system designrd for long life, reliability and low cost that long predates solar and wind and should not be claimed in the same category aa renewables. However, no such claim can be made of Snowy Hydro 2 as it is not properly engineered as it was conceived by a politician, not an engineer. In any case, hydro is mostly already fully exploited with very little extra capacity capable of being built in developed countries. If it were not for hydro being counted as a renewable along with wind and solar, the cost and lack of despatchable capacity of renewables would look even more disastrous than it already is.

Renewables are not about being a substitute for coal, gas, nuclear or hydro electricity generation. They are no substitute for that at all.

They are specifically part of an anti-energy agenda and they can only supply small amounts of very expensive energy at tremendously high cost (economic, environmental and Civilisational). They cannot power an industrial Civilisation. Their purpose is to destroy it.

They will ultimately supply you with a trickle of energy to provide limited lighting, a small digital device for you to receive government propaganda and to monitor you and a small microwave oven to heat your daily ration of government-supplied insects.

“They are none of those things ” Ahem, ahem…

‘Old king coal is spluttering as power plants age out of usefulness’

“Australia’s coal-fired power stations are breaking down more often and driving up electricity prices for homes and businesses, fresh analysis reveals, as the latest outage at Victoria’s Yallourn power station pushes the grid to the brink. Unexpected breakdowns across the eastern seaboard’s coal-fired generators have become major drivers of rising power bills, which are set to soar as price caps rise for hundreds of thousands of customers..analysis shows their electricity supply declines significantly in their last years of life… the giant Eraring coal plant in NSW has on average experienced 6000 hours of downtime a year over the past four years – which means it is unavailable, on average, about 20 per cent of the time…The second biggest coal plant in Victoria, Yallourn, has run up an average of 8000 hours of downtime each year since 2020, making it unavailable more than 20 per cent of the time on average. ”

      But wait, it gets worse!

“Energy Minister Chris Bowen said…coal was an uneconomic proposition for investors…“In the past two years, there has barely been a day when an unplanned coal outage hasn’t happened. As we’ve consistently said, the biggest risk to reliability is ageing, expensive coal”…

So once again coal proves its superiority as an energy source. Ageing unmaintained plants are only down 20% of the time, brand new wind factories, world wide have an efficiency factor of 35%, in other words they are down 65% of the time. Solar at its best and by its nature must be down 50% of time at a minimum.
So by their own convoluted excuses, they have just declared that COAL is the best, most reliable source of energy.

        It happens reliably .

“What just happened in Iran wasn’t a surprise attack. It wasn’t a last-minute decision. It wasn’t even Israel acting alone.

Israel has done the world a huge favour by destroying Iran’s nuclear weapons capability. It shouldn’t have even got to the point of building a bomb but Obama wanted a second Mohammedan atomic bomb after Pakistan so he reduced sanctions and even sent them literal pallet-loads of cash.

Iran had a stated intention to destroy Israel and could have assembled a bomb within days or weeks, that was the purpose of Iran’s nuclear program. Iran were and are major state sponsors of terrorism around the world as well. After Israel they would have threatened others with nuclear weapons.

And latest reports are that Iranians are starting to revolt and may well overthrow the Medieval theocratic regime that oppresses them.

Women may soon be able to burn their burkhas and hijabs and all people may soon be free.

The Left will be very disappointed in (hopefully) forthcoming regime change as they’d rather see women kept wearing those instruments of female oppression.

Israel had every right to take action to protect themselves against nuclear attack. Also, it is such a tiny country, 22,145km2, anout one third the size of Tasmania or the size of the US state of New Jersey, one single modest size nuclear bomb would have destroyed it.

I addition as per Chapter VII, Article 51 of the UN Charter Iran now has the right of reply which it has.

This is an unprovoked attack by a nuclear power against a non nuclear power. Stop licking Israel’s butt it just makes you look silly.

They had enriched uranium to 60% which is far in excess of the required 3%-5% U-235 for civilian nuclear power.

It was on its way to weapons grade which is 90%.

There is no conceivable non-nuclear weapon purpose for 60% enriched uranium.

          Analysis of IAEA report:

          https://isis-online.org/isis-reports/detail/analysis-of-iaea-iran-verification-and-monitoring-report-may-2025/

          Full report:

          https://isis-online.org/uploads/isis-reports/documents/Analysis_of_May_2025_IAEA_Iran_Verification_Report_FINAL.pdf

Iran can convert its current stock of 60 percent enriched uranium into 233 kg of WGU in three weeks at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP), enough for 9 nuclear weapons, taken as 25 kg of weapon-grade uranium (WGU) per weapon.

Iran could produce its first quantity of 25 kg of WGU in Fordow in as little as two to three days.

Breaking out in both Fordow and the Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP), the two facilities together could produce enough WGU for 11 nuclear weapons in the first month, enough for 15 nuclear weapons by the end of the second month, 19 by the end of the third month, 21 by the end of the fourth month, and 22 by the end of the fifth month.

In front of the inspectors’ eyes, Iran is undertaking the near-final step of breaking out, now converting its 20 percent stock of enriched uranium into 60 percent enriched uranium at a greatly expanded rate, although this rate cannot be sustained much longer (see below).

Iran has no civilian use or justification for its production of 60 percent enriched uranium, particularly at the level of hundreds of kilograms. Its rush to make much more, quickly depleting its stock of near 20 percent enriched uranium, which has a civilian use in research reactors, raises more questions. Even if one believed the production of 60 percent is to create bargaining leverage in a nuclear negotiation, Iran has gone way beyond what would be needed. One has to conclude that Iran’s real intent is to be prepared to produce large quantities of WGU as quickly as possible, in as few centrifuges as possible.

So what if Iran gets nukes. What gives any other country the right to dictate what others can do?

Of course, there will be people who love the apocalyptic versions of the worlds future but to suggest that North Korea, China, Pakistan and Russia plus the others will jump at a chance to join a war is not based on anything credible AFAICS.
I can’t recall 30 years of “nuclear bombs are weeks away” related to Iran. The international community has been tracking, as best they can, the enrichment capabilities of Iran and recognise their increasing enrichment over the years. Never heard it weeks away until recently.
Pakistan has not being regularly threatening the annihilation of any country, whilst we have heard for over 30 years that Israel will be annihilated by Iran.

Of course after the announcement nothing else will be heard regarding all of these benefits for the man in the street. Our prime minister will continue to try and be relevant on the world stage, our premier will make Victoria a safe place for people to live by doing nothing but making announcements, electricity prices that will reduce against 2020 levels continue to increase exponentially and hey, the world is good. Except it isn’t. Living standards continue to decline, the cost of living continues to increase. Who cares about roads, we won’t need that many in the future, all living happily in our little boxes, without the necessary funds to go anywhere any how. Clouds prevent about 30% of the incoming solar from being thermalised. So the sun offers an area average of 340W/m^2 in EMR then clouds and other reflective surfaces permits about 240W/m^2 to be retained in the Earth system.

That 240W/m^2 then has to be lost to space to maintain an energy balance assuming all solar EMR eventually gets converted to heat (you only need look at Antarctica to realise that could be a very poor assumption – how much heat had to go into oceans to get all the ice onto Antarctica). But making the leap of faith, the average radiating temperature, assuming emissivity of 1, is 255K. So outgoing long wave, on average departs a radiating molecule well below freezing. We know by far the dominant radiative gas is H2O. So it cools itself and surroundings as it radiates energy to space. At some point is inevitably turns to ice. Then the ice particles become the radiator and they are more effective at radiating than the vapour so ice soon dominates the absorption and transmission path for both short wave and long wave. You only need to look up in the sky on almost any day or night to realise this.

Sub 100micron ice particles descend at about 4cm/s or say 140m/h. Over 30C ocean water, there is about 9km between the tropopause and the maximum altitude of the level of free convection so it takes about 64 hours for the ice that forms in clear sky, saturated conditions after convective instability to descend to the LFC (assuming no convective overshoot). The atmosphere above the LFC is then fully charged to repeat the convective cycle. Convective cycles over warm pools occur over 3 to 5 days.

Ever wonder why the relative humidity in a typical radiosonde has abrupt changes:
    https://weather.rap.ucar.edu/upper/displayUpper.php?img=KEYW.png&endDate=-1&endTime=-1&duration=0

You need to work out what the ice is doing.

There are so many gullible people who have not question the “greenhouse gas” fairy tale and repeat it as if they know something.

Any atmospheric model based on cloud parameterisation is not a climate model. Clouds are a consequence of the surface conditions and complex atmospheric processes.

I am thinking of a new web site dedicated to long term survival of live on Earth.

The name I am contemplating is 2100 by 2100. The 2100 target is ppm CO2 by volume in the atmosphere.

Right now life is highly dependent on China doing the heavy lifting. Much of the developed world is heading in the wrong direction.

To achieve 2100 by 2100 there would need to be a massive effort to find and release fossilised fuel. Something similar to what has begun in the USA this year.

If we could get even halfway to 2100 by 2100, the plant life would bear so vigorous that the deserts would be gone resulting in massive increase in grazing land for larger herd animals. We may even see the emergence of heavier herd animals.

This would place life on Earth is a good position to ride out the next 100kyr of NH glaciation. The generations that follow those currently living north of 40N could move southward to the Sahara.

    What a morning !
I fully expect mass resignation of ABC staff on Monday because there (just could have been) something like a difference of opinions on the Insiders.
No, it was not expressed, but everyone knows which sides are Waleed Aly and Gerard Henderson.

As if not enough, our glorious Foreign Minister (or was it an AI subversion?) sounded like a closet friend of certain Bibi N and Donny T. Not a word of civilian deaths in Iran, and I had tiny but some respect for her in past.

Got renewal notice for trailer registration in email today – Sunday 15th. So probably automatic. The renewal is due by 2nd August.

The 6 weeks notice is indicative of the parlous state of Victorian Government accounts. They need the money as soon as possible. I am thinking my small effort to delay to the last minute will be another straw on the camel’s back that helps the rating agencies make the correct decision.

Last time Victoria was in such a mess when Kirner was in charge, Victoria had power stations and power lines to sell.

      RickWill:
The other possibility may be that 7 weeks is about the time for a Victorian public servant to stamp an approval.

Years ago, a public servant was transferred between departments in one State Department but was told that there wasn’t a desk for him to occupy and would he delay his arrival for a short time. He knew that this was more likely to be the ill-feeling between the two heads, but he “had a cunning plan”.
The procedure for entry was to sign a book on the ground floor with time. This he continued to do (and the reverse on days end). Instead of going upstairs he took the passage back out to the alleyway behind and got a job at company. He would come back -usually at lunch time as the Department canteen was subsidised – and he had an hour break whereas the public servants were all taken only 30 minutes due to the then flexitime (so he was seen around).
His downfall was forgetting to collect his pay one day and his ex-head sent the reminder to new-head with a sarcastic note about the workers there should stay awake long enough to collect their pay. That came back with a rejoinder that at least they knew who worked there. He collected his pay next day but things got ugly, my informant said that he expected barbed wire and machine gun posts in the corridor. Eventually the Deputy Head of the Victorian Public Service was sent there to sort out the problem, and asked which sub department he worked for? He then suggested it be sorted out.
The miscreant was told he had to pay back his salary and he could keep his job or else be redundant. Naturally he kept his 5 month pay and his new job.
The “solution” was for clerks to sign in/out every day AND for lunch breaks.
The miscreant passed the book as it was a shortcut to the new job, and also kept coming back to use the subsidised canteen.

        Similar –

IIRC this is in R.V. Jones “Most Secret War”

A fairly high rank military officer used to report in to his office in London of a morning. Then change into his overalls and report for his other job which was one of the crew of a beer delivery wagon. And reverse of an evening

That story reminds me of the scam evidently followed by some during the construction of New Parliament House. It was well known in Canberra that some workers clocked on and then disappeared through a gap in the perimeter fence, only to return in time to clock-off at shift’s end.
I feel sorry for the Snowy 2.0 workers: there’s nothing out there beyond the perimeter fence.

I am working on my taxes now and I just noticed I had been charged an extra $975 land tax as a “temporary” “COVID Debt Repayment Plan” for Victoriastan. There is no termination date indicated so likely it will go on indefinitely.

This means an extra $20 week pressure to reclaim from rent as if the returns were not already low enough.

I don’t recall the Liberal non-Opposition saying anything about this.

I didn’t say it was the Libs fault obviously it’s not. Clearly it’s Disaster Dan’s and Allan’s.

However Libs didn’t complain about it as far as I know.

Why did you add that then, it is spurious? Sling mud and see how much sticks.

Vic libs are a hopeless lot, surely there is enough to lay at their feet without inventing anything.

Settle down H, something like that should have been splashed around by any opposition party worth its salt, its just free points against the Labor lot. The fact that no-one has mentioned it before suggest the Lamestream media once again are giving the Labor clowns a free ride instead of pointing out their hidden taxes everywhere. They are to blame just as much as the Libs.

I couldn’t put up my rents by $20 a week either, there is a limit to what working people can pay.

No exemptions, you will obey, we don’t care if you use the bins or not, you will be charged $480 per annum to save the planet, Our council does exactly what this video depicts,

Israel has sent hundreds of aircraft over Iran which believed it had plenty of air defences but it is for nought, no IDF aircraft was downed.

At the sharp end of the spear was the F-35i, that dog of a plane that wasn’t really stealthy and could never have enough fully serviceable at any given time to be a significant force. They now have many hours in contested air with no apparent losses.

When the development history of the F-35 range of stealth jet fighters (Joint Strike Fighter Project of several participating allied nations) there were to be expected early problems but sorted out. One I recall was that the aircraft needed to be repainted after a flight, the truth was paint around the canopy was not adhering well but that was a minor fault and rectified.

The STOL version was really the most complicated to sort out but has been.

I read a story from a Norwegian Air Force Squadron Leader who had flown F-16s until the F-35s arrived and a “dog fight” air to air combat exercise was arranged between himself flying F-35 and another experienced pilot in an F-16.

The report was that F-35 despite not being designed for air-to air combat, F-35 is a fighter platform with many technologies and using stealth and distance to attack with missiles rather than a visual range attack, proved to be superior to the F-16 and considered to have more potential as pilots learn to fly F-35 and utilise the design advantages.

Albanese Labor cancelled the remained outstanding order for another 30# F-35 Lightning for the RAAF leaving 71# that have already been delivered.

There are just under 30# F-18 including several Growler versions carrying electronic warfare technology that all the F-35s also have.

The Joint Fighter Project second stage is Loyal Wingman drone development and Boeing Australia have designed and built several MQ-85 now called Ghost Bat. The RAAF has some in development however last year Albanese Labor cancelled the funding for development of a weapons system.

MQ-85 is a force multiplier to fly with piloted aircraft (Loyal Wingman) and provide additional firepower and being unmanned can be sacrificed if necessary, flown into combat unlikely to survive.

The F-35 has extended the life of 4th gen fighters because of the connectivity between them so the older plane becomes a missile truck. Maybe the last 30 weren’t needed then.

Also significant is that well over a thousand have been made and are in squadron service NOW, a very troubling year. It doesn’t matter what Russia or China boast, they could not put a 10 ship flight together of stealth aircraft.

The paint does sound expensive and fragile but that would only effect operational availability if flying into a hot zone. They are still available for training even if the 77 says the paint needs repair.

I heard an interview with a F-35 experienced pilot from USAF part of a documentary on that aircraft, he described flying one as similar to having a play station cockpit computer system and controls for flying requiring much less pilot input to provide more time for using the technology installed for other purposes such as ground surveillance, electronic warfare, attacks targeted using missiles etc.

Obviously we cannot find out all of the specifications and capabilities.

TGA Finally Admits Risks Outweigh Benefits for Covid jabs in kids

    In their own words:

”COVID-19 vaccine[s] is not recommended for healthy infants, children or adolescents who do not have medical conditions that increase their risk of severe illness. This is because the risk of severe illness was extremely low in this cohort over the course of the pandemic, and benefits of vaccination are not considered to outweigh the potential harms”.

The mystery of the black iceberg

“I have seen icebergs that are rolled, what they say have rolled in the beach with some rocks in it. This one here is completely different. It’s not only that he is all black. He is almost … in a diamond shape,” Antoniussen said in an interview with CBC Radio’s Labrador Morning.
