That’s why anyone who dares challenge these prejudices is very unwelcome in this echo chamber of right wing conservatism. That said JoNova herself does not have that attitude and her replies are based on the merit of the comment’s content and indeed from time to time posts comments that do not agree with the majority opinion.

I wrote to Walgreens (in U.S. via email) asking if they were preventing Ivermectin prescriptions from being filled.
The reply showed they were on both sides of the issue!!
a) “Walgreen’s stance is that we do not prohibit the dispensing of Ivermectin.”
b) “It is our pharmacist’s clinical judgment on whether they will dispense the medication in good faith.” This was followed by information which was negative about Ivermectin.
My interpretation is that Walgreens is doing everything they can to block Ivermectin, while trying to protect themselves from lawsuits by claiming they are not prohibiting its dispensing.

Personally I would agree with the Daily sceptics conclusion, having observed this for 15 months in the UK (I do get some strange looks) I would say that if a surgical mask is worn to a surgeons rigorous hygienic standards, not fiddled with and changed as necessary, then they will work.
In real world conditions I have never seen a person wear a surgical mask to such standards, indeed the overwhelming majority of the general public wear them extremely badly, constantly fiddle with them, thereby breaking the ‘seal’ and rarely change them, let alone after every visit. Washable ones remain largely unwashed.
So the question more is “does wearing filthy masks of the wrong standards, very poorly, work, or is it more likely to spread viral loads to yourself or others in the belief you have got protection against the virus?”

Some mothers at a Florida school had the childrens’ masks analysed and tested. They came back positive to all sorts of nasty diseases such as meningitis.

And yesterday was back to normal with police standing back to watch construction workers blocking intersections protesting at the loss of their tea rooms.
Like most things I wonder what the powers controlling the police were thinking. Every other protest in living memory has been waved through. This time the police decided to be aggressive and overpower the protest plainly armed with all sorts of sprays and weapons. And now public transport has been shut down with only approved people permitted inside fortress Melbourne. And some presumably high ranking police officer warning protesters that there will be trouble if they try protesting again.
Maybe a show of strength that seemed like a good idea at the time? Maybe a honeypot operation that got out of hand? What could possibly go wrong?

‘Fossil Fuels’ will run out 50, 100 or 500 hundred years from now and renewables will not cut it.
The only solution is Molten Salt Reactors. India, Indonesia and China are leading the forefront in this alternative energy source, which will last for thousands of years.

According to a professional rock-doctoring mate, the Russians have a few different views. “Abiogenesis” is the key word..
Basically, “petrochemicals” are NOT “fossil fuels”, like coal. The working hypothesis is that petrochemicals are “made” in the gigantic “retort” that is the crustal depths, a geologically lively zone, indeed.
Interesting case study is the State of Pennsylvania, which has a LOT of coal and LOT of oil; NOT “co-located”, but in widely different geological structures, which is not entirely surprising given how much the North American continent has been shuffled about in the last couple of hundred million years. Alaska has OIL, Then again, Alaska was not in its current location many millions of years ago, nor were , most other serious bits of real estate, either. The Gobi Desert is littered with oil rigs, as well as is part of Romania. Not far offshore of Southern Vietnam is the “Great Bear” oil and gas field; and on it goes. The stuff has been leaking to the surface forever. The most famous example of this are the La Brea tar pits in California., but “pitch” is mentioned in middle-eastern texts thousands of years old; the stuff continues to ooze out of the ground in places in that region.
The planet is a very dynamic system. It is not some Sylvan Glade, set in aspic.
Almost a quarter of the land area of Queensland is sitting on top pf coal deposits that are often tens of metres in thickness..
South-Western Queensland is also dotted with seismic survey “lines” used by the big Schlumberger ground-shaker trucks and with capped oil and gas wells. NOBODY plonks a big blue “Christmas tree” on a dry borehole. The stuff I saw coming out of the ground in the Tintaburra field was VERY light crude. So light, that the local graziers discovered that, with a bit of filtering, it was functional as a diesel fuel in their machinery. Not recommended for the S-Class Mercedes, perhaps. And nothing like the thick sulphurous, light-fraction-poor goo than comes from the Middle east.
Speaking of Sulphur: The hard black coal from the the big Queensland mines has EXTREMELY low Sulphur. That is why it is a hot item (so to speak) for coking coal customers. Sulphur is NOT a good thing to have in “serious” steels, especially “stainless” steels used in “high-stress” applications, because it interferes with the crystal structure and reduces “toughness”. There are special “sulphured” steels but these are used for entirely different purposes. Australian oils have extremely low Sulphur., which is a good thing and makes our fuels quite desirable…… Sulphur is associated with Vulcanism, something for which Australia is not particularly famous since over fifty million years ago. Then again, if you have ever had a hot shower in Quilpie……
The stuff beneath our feet is what used to be called “assets”, these days, more like “targets”.

OK, I am just back from the Melbourne protest.
I received word from a friend that the meeting point had been changed, about an hour before the planned start from the CBD (cnr Elizabeth and Latrobe Sts) to the Richmond Town Hall (cnr Bridge Rd and Church St).
That happened to suit my plan which was to drive and park in Richmond, then walk 3km to the city.
The change of plan seemed to catch the Police on the hop because there were very few there until about 12 midday. That soon changed and before long, hundreds of police arrived eventually reaching 2000 police (so I am told). The Police formed a line, three deep across the full width of Bridge road, blocking access to the city. The protesters then promptly turned around and moved away from the city at which the Police had to run to catch up to them, which looked a bit undignified. This led to a rather fluid situation with the protesters changing course multiple times, into side streets. The Police were trying to anticipate their moves and set up strong control lines across streets each with hundreds of police.
My involvement was rather distant as I preferred to observe events from just outside the police lines, rather than inside and hence the events were often out of sight. I did see several incidents where protesters moved up to shout at the police and were promptly sprayed in the face with some sort of spray. Probably they were wearing face protectors because they did not seem to be affected. I did not personally see any attacks on police.
I would describe a lot of the protesters that I saw as young, and often heavily tattooed lesser bohemians. There were older people. One woman who I would think was likely 70 asked if I was part of the protest. I said yes but I was participating at a distance. She asked which way so I pointed 50m down the street and she headed off that way and I think went straight in to the middle of the protest crowd. I was impressed by her courage and commitment.
I suspect that there were more police than protesters. I hope that the television footage shows the police reaction as heavy handed and over the top.

Well that did not happen, but the figures speak for themselves. 2000 police and 750 protesters.
I did not see all of it, being somewhat back from the action. The breakout charge which seems to have resulted in most of the police injuries occurred quite a way from where I was.
My analysis of the media reports and the police statements and what I saw indicates to me that the police were trying to crush the protest and were closing in when the protesters were trapped in the Barkers Rd cutting. If they had taken a more stand off attitude I doubt if there would have been any violence. I disagree with the commissioner on that. He claimed that there were angry young men intent on violence. My interpretation is protesters trying to escape an arrest trap.
I count the protest as a win for the protesters, despite their small numbers. 700 odd active protesters and several hundred more supporters (like me) caused the police to parade almost their entire strength, including many previously unseen new riot control vehicles. The cost to the police budget is said to be $500,000 but it could be more. A few more such protests will stain the police resources to the max.

Just when we thought, for a precious moment, that the pop-eyed, angst-ridden halfwits posturing atop our political dungheap were backing out of our lives, here they come again with another nonsensical, divisive scheme to extend the torture as far as their tunnel vision can see.
As we approach the arbitrary 70 or 80 per cent vaccination targets they have set to grant our conditional release from the restrictions which, don’t forget, they also set, their backroom teams have come up with a punishment for the remaining 20 per cent who for medical, philosophical or other reasons (and let’s, as a sop to the morally perfect, include wickedness and stupidity among them) refuse the injections.
Make no mistake, dissenters will be punished for disobedience. The NSW Premier indicated as much last week. “I don’t want people to think they can sit back and let everybody else do the hard work,” she said. “If you’re not vaccinated you will not have the freedom or the freedoms that vaccinated people have.”
In case you’re thinking we should go along with this in the hope society’s settings can return to normal, the Premier gave us a little glimpse of the future she has planned: “So long as Delta has presence in the world,” she said, “even if we had zero cases and we were at 80 per cent double-dose, you would still have to respect rules that exist around vaccinations, around social distancing, around mask-wearing.” So that’s that forever, then.
Her counterpart in Victoria was even more spitefully explicit. “There is going to be a vaccinated economy, and you get to participate in that if you are vaccinated,” he said. “We are going to lock out people who are not vaccinated.”
Inconveniently, however, there are explicit laws against forcing medical intervention on people against their will, so with malign ingenuity our leaders turn punishment of the minority into reward for the majority, and conspire to outsource the policing of the new order to ordinary citizens.
No need for unflattering government edicts, just a robust suggestion that business owners and employers might like to devise their own sanctions, in a cowardly masterclass in buck-passing.
Demonise the unvaccinated, then say: “Don’t blame us for your loss of freedom, blame them!”

We know, do we not, that vaccinated people can still catch and transmit the virus, including from each other; yet the passport plan assumes they are terrified of encountering an unvaccinated person, particularly in the hospitality arena, when logic suggests it should be precisely the other way round. The plan further seems to assume “unvaccinated” means the same as “infected”, an even more preposterous notion.
Try as I might, I cannot see what the vaccinated have to fear from the unvaccinated. As I celebrate the protection of my double dose of AstraZeneca with a slap-up meal in a top restaurant, why should I worry about the people eating at the next table? I’m safe. Call me a monster, but I’ve never given a second’s consideration to the wellbeing of my fellow diners, sometimes even in my own home.
Perhaps we could meet somewhere in the middle. A section for the unvaccinated to one side of the restaurant, with its own door, where unvaccinated waiters serve food and drinks on your own special crockery with designated cutlery and glassware. It was a very popular arrangement in 1950s Alabama, I hear. It’s the culinary extension of “social distancing”. Staying apart keeps us together.

The Novavax Vaccine Data, and Spike Proteins in General
1. Novavax Clinical Data
Word came yesterday that Novavax had very good safety and efficacy in the trial of their recombinant protein vaccine. This is good news. By this point, the vaccine is much less needed here in the US, but it could be a very important part of getting many other countries vaccinated, due to its less demanding storage requirements and (relatively) straightforward production process. The company does intend to file for FDA approval, and is in the last stages of getting all of its manufacturing and quality control procedures ready for that. I hope that this opens up to worldwide usage of this one, and that the company really is ready for large-scale production.
As many readers are well aware, this is a recombinant protein vaccine, not a viral vector (like J&J or the Oxford/AZ vaccines), and not an mRNA one like Moderna or Pfizer/BioNTech. I also hope that this allays some of the worries that many people still have about those two platforms: recombinant protein vaccines have been around for longer, so this one would (presumably) be less of a concern for some potential users.
2. Circulating Spike and S1 Proteins After Vaccination
Let’s talk about one of those concerns in particular. I am still getting question after question about the Spike protein being produced by the mRNA and viral-vector vaccines. Not a day goes by without someone contacting me about this issue, and recently these messages have taken on a slightly different tone. I last wrote about this issue here, and since then there have been other publications that bear on the topic. Here’s a key one: this paper describes the detection of the Spike protein in the bloodstream of patients who received the Moderna vaccine. Now, in that earlier blog post I spent several paragraphs going on about how the Spike protein (because of its transmembrane anchor) would not be floating around in the bloodstream, and you can be sure that many of my correspondents have reminded me of that. But see below for more details!
To be sure, the new paper uses a very sensitive assay to find the protein – Simoa, which is a single-molecule detection method. I’ll explain that one briefly for those who are interested; if you’re not, you can skip ahead and just stipulate that this is pretty much the gold standard for detecting very small amounts of protein in biological samples.

There is another line of argument to make. Remember, the Novavax vaccine does not cause cells to produce the Spike protein. It is the Spike protein, injected directly into a person’s body, along with an adjuvant to make the immune reaction that much more vigorous. It does not get cleaved to make S1 protein, because that cleavage site has been mutated to keep that from happening, but it does bind to human ACE2 receptors just like the wild-type protein. If such an injection were causing harm to patients, that would have set off a strong safety signal in the human trials, but no such problems have been seen. Not in the animal studies, not in first dose-finding studies in humans, not in the first efficacy trial, and not in the one whose results were just announced.
It seems clear from all these human trials and the clinical experience to date that the circulating levels of the S1 protein (or the Spike itself) that are sufficient to induce a protective immune response are not in themselves toxic. The animal studies demonstrate that the Spike or S1 can indeed have bad effects on living cells and tissues all by themselves, but the conditions under which this was demonstrated are not those that obtain after vaccination.

In the US, there is a high unvaccinated rate among African Americans, and they are overwhelmingly Democrats.

In Australia, Republicans would be called Conservatives and vote Liberal .
Democrats would still be lefty’s and vote Labor.
However our equivalent to “the Squad”. would be the Greens . They identify as caring for the planet but are hard core Marxists.
We also have people like your RINOS in the Liberal Party.
And we have a small eclectic mix of independents .
Our government is pushing the community to exclude people who have chosen not to accept the vaccine and is ratcheting up the fear factor. Some people have become irrational and wishing all sorts of harm on the unvaccinated .

There are many many alternatives to experimental failed vaccines. You just did a post on Ivermectin and India.
The smear on Ivermectin is done. Uttar Pradesh used a very effective distribution method. They did contact tracing and gave, not only the patient, but their entire family and other contacts, Ivermectin. Lockdowns in India were a big problem. What happens when you restrict a very dense population to crowded indoor locations, and dozens often shared a single restroom? ( far worse then the official numbers )
They could not test to the extent of the US, so they focused on 1case, 2contacts, 3 Ivermectin. They broke the RO of the Virus way below one. Due to their focused testing the peak positive rate was almost 20 percent. Currently most states in the providence of Uttar Pradesh had zero positive. In 226,000 targeted tests, they had a positive rate of .01 percent. They crushed it.
A word of note about the India cases. There is fairly strong evidence, excess deaths and large group cremations, that Covid cases and deaths were considerably higher then the official records. After much reading, and checking with charity groups that I work with there, I think it likely that deaths were three to four times the official numbers. The excess deaths were higher, but so many distribution items and essentials broke down with lockdowns. Starvation or severe malnutrition and lack of care led to extensive health breakdowns and many deaths.
And while natural immunity is a factor, it is not nearly the factor one may think. The reason is India’s incredible population density. It is estimated that about fifty to sixty percent eventually acquired natural immunity. At 50 percent India’s remaining population density is still 18 times Australia and about 3.5 times the US. That is still a lot of fuel.
No, you asked for some overall comparison with other states in India that did not use Ivermectin. Here is a fairly extensive link. It takes about an hour to begin to grasp the extent of it, yet it all overwhelmingly supports Ivermectin.

VARES and the other adverse event reporting agencies exist for a reason! And that reason is NOT to be dismissed with tautology- “ Correlation is not necessarily causation, anybody can report an adverse event”. Yes, a 100 percent true generalization completely dismissing these professional agencies, and completely ignorant of how they actually work. The vast majority of adverse events are reported by medical professionals. It is an evolved process most patients don’t have the information required to even fill it out.

When I heard Dr Cole’s talk, I thought, If so they will have trouble hiding this. Well they have tried, but are in the process of failing. The next link (2) supports Dr Cole. A NSM affiliate asked for stories about the unvaccinated suffering from Covid and the pain it caused. ( More main stream attempt to divide fellow humans). Instead they were overwhelmed with people telling their anguished stories of vaccine harms, either themselves or their families. It was an unorganized grass roots response, deeply supporting what Dr Cole articulates.
Link number 3 strongly supports the VARES Harvard study, and demonstrates
confirms Dr Cole’s large uptick in severe “other” disease as a result of vaccination.
It explains the continued, post vaccine roll out time period, excess deaths not associated with Covid. (They are mostly if not all vaccine related)
It very clearly and believably explains why adverse events are extremely underreported.
It demonstrates in a logical believable manner why double vaccinated Covid patients are under reported, and even counted as unvaccinated Covid patients.
We get to see “toe the company line” policy in action. ( don’t know how some people live with themselves.) The company calling the shots for the hospitals is clearly the CDC.
She will lose her job very soon. They are intending to fire her as a “ voluntary resignation “ She won’t let them do that.

Refrigerator blindness: selective loss of visual acuity in association with a common foraging behaviour
The Case: Three male offspring, aged 9–14 years, of one of the authors (M.B.)
were observed to experience visual problems profound enough to imply functional blindness. The visual deficit was evident on almost every occasion when any one of the children of this physician went to the refrigerator and opened the door. The acute visual problem encountered was noted to be part of a consistent behaviour pattern, wherein a few seconds after the fridge door was opened a cry would be heard from the affected child of “Mum, where’s the milk [or any other item being sought]?” This vocalization was made without regard to the physician’s distance from the fridge or engagement in any other activity. Shouted directions as to the location of the object only occasionally led to it becoming visible. Even with calm and constructive maternal encouragement and direction the desired object typically would remain unseen until the mother-physician attended the fridge-side and physically identified the precise location of the item.
This behaviour was noted only sporadically among the female members of the household, but was unremitting among the males. Attempts at patient empowerment through counselling — “Surely someone of your age can find the …” — rarely led to success, and diagnostic accusations such as “Are you blind?” appeared to aggravate the condition, possibly through subliminal trauma to the fragile male psyche.
A literature review using the search terms “blindness,” “sightlessness,” “loss of sight,” “refrigerator,” “Frigidaire” and “hereditary difficulty” for the years 1994–2004 yielded no case reports or genome-mapping references to refrigerator/fridge blindness in children or adults. We believe therefore that we report a previously undescribed condition.

The French terms for refrigerator blindness — aveuglement réfrigérateur (m) or cécité glacière (f) — suggest a visual disturbance caused by light reflecting off snow and ice. The brilliant white finish, shiny stainless steel and high-intensity lighting in modern fridges could well be contributing factors, bearing in mind that this condition is newly recognized even though refrigeration technology is now a century or more old. However, unlike in snow blindness, the condition is painless (except in the parent) and the loss of the visual field is selective, being limited to the contents of the refrigerator. It is true that many of those affected have visual difficulty with other items (e.g., not seeing a mess in their rooms, discarded clothing or dirty dishes), but these symptoms are readily explained by the influence of the primitive streak still so evident in most males, driving them to recreate an environment agreeable to them as cave-dwellers.
Sadly, there is a more sinister potential cause. An electromagnetic field is emitted by any electrical device and this causes electromagnetic interference (EMI), as we are all aware from restrictions imposed on cell phone use in hospitals2 and broader restrictions on aircraft. Moreover, cell phone use has been linked to concerns regarding disordered brain function and even structural pathology. When standing close to an open fridge, a child will be engulfed by the fridge’s magnetic field and remains within in it for the entire duration of the “blindness” they experience. Modern fridges are larger and more powerful than older models, and some even incorporate communication technology increasing the potential for EMI,3 and thus, particularly when associated with low-amplitude vibration, could well exert an effect on sympathetic tone, signal processing or blood flow within the brain.4
Implications for parenting and clinical practice:
Pending further study, we hypothesize that parental advocacy that limits children’s access to refrigerators, particularly for all young males, is important. It would have the benefit of decreasing the incidence of stress-related illness among parents by containing the current epidemic of refrigerator blindness, and represents a potentially effective means of slowing the alarming trend of obesity currently evident among our children. To not do this would be evidence of another form of blindness, this time among parents and health care professionals.

My guess is that it is because the government “marketing” job for the vaccines has been just so successful. People are very, very afraid of this virus. For this reason, unvaccinated are perceived as dangerous to the vaccinated. Its tragic because it is just so emotive and unjustifiable. Friends and even family are shunning and abusive to those who have thought long and hard about vaccination.
Using a racing analogy – the horse called “Fear” is a very good bet to win the race. But, as Paul Keating once said, I wouldn’t bet against that nag “Self-Interest” either. And that very good chance “Ivermectin”? It was disqualified by the stewards before it even got to the barrier!

The delta variant is highly contagious. It has been assessed as having an R0 of 4 in a population of normal mobility. That means the population needs to have greater than 80% carrying antibodies to get the infection rate UNDER 1 to starve the virus out of existence.
With vaccines approved for 12yo and over, more than 80% of those over 12 need to have antibodies to get the infection rate under 1. There is every prospect that Australia will achieve that because the vaccination uptake in the older age groups, where it has been on offer for the longest time, is over 90%:

But until there is some confidence that the younger age group will be as community minded as the older age groups remains to be seen. The privileges afforded to vaccinated people should act as encouragement and incentive – no doubt some will view it as coercion.
However if fewer than 80% of the population get vaccinated then the only way to make up for the shortfall is to restrain mobility or allow enough people to get the virus so they develop herd immunity. Somewhere around 10% of unvaccinated people end up in hospital. 10% of 20% of The Australian population is 480k people. That would be the extreme case because herd immunity should kick in to lower numbers.
If I was building a plan out, I would base it on case numbers linked to hospitalisations and forecast dates rather than set dates. NSW already has declining daily cases and hospital load is not climbing alarmingly. The forecast is for hospitalisation in Australia to peak by the end of September.
Other countries have managed their way out of lockdowns by balancing vaccinations and mobility. The last thing needed is to declare “Freedom Day”. Just keep putting jabs in arms and gradually increase mobility.
The good news is that globally the infection rate is under 1 with mobility only 7% down on pre-Covid level.
