One Nation Draws Level with Coalition
https://richardsonpost.com/paulzanetti/41441/shock-poll-one-nation-equals-coalition-labor-slides/
Just one poll so far. Hopefully the result will be confirmed in other polls.
I am some what reassured by the fact that Barnaby Joyce has joined her team.

Imagine how good Australia would be today if we’d listened to her back then.

Imagine how good the UK would be if the British National Party had been successful!!!
20
Consider how this can work out with our preferential voting system.
Labor has 32% of the primary vote. They get almost all of the preferences from the Greens (12%) which gives them 44%.
But note that Other has 13% of the vote. Minor conservative parties such as UAP, Family First, Nation First and Lib Dems constitute more than half of Other (say 8%). The smaller parties get eliminated first and I would expect most of those votes to go to One Nation. That puts One Nation ahead of the Libs. The Lib candidate then gets eliminated and the votes flow to One Nation.
I can envisage One Nation taking House of Reps seats, perhaps a lot of them.
The first real test will be the Victorian State Election in November this year.
230
Your links Labor at 29% primary vote not 33%.
On a two party preferred, One Nation and Labour are 50:50 according to that poll.
150
Agreed.
I got a bit mixed up.
70
It’s great news. Everyone I know who is a traditional Liberal (fake conservative) voter intends to vote One Nation as the Liberals are no longer a conservative party and also don’t have the moral clarity to believe in anything. It’s been taken over by the Far Left Labor-loving “moderate” faction.
The problem with One Nation is that if they want a PM then the PM has to (in practice) come from the lower house. ON needs to run candidates in all Lower house seats including a suitable PM candidate.
(John Gorton was a PM from the Senate for three weeks before moving to the lower house, but convention is that a PM must be a lower house member, although not a Constitutional rule.)
151
An initial problem for One Nation is to recruit good quality candidates.
I wonder if George Christiansen and Gerard Rennick could be persuaded to stand?
130
Another concern is that the Liberals might form a coalition with Labor since they are now virtually Labor anyway under present “leadership”. E.g. they agree on so many issues like censorship, NDIS, “climate change” etc..
181
As comedian, George Carlin once noted:
“Bipartisan usually means that a larger-than-usual deception is being carried out”.
He also observed:
“Governments don’t want a population capable of critical thinking, they want obedient workers, people just smart enough to run the machines and just dumb enough to passively accept their situation”.
And:
“Political Correctness is just fascism pretending to be manners”.
190
Oh no Bruce. Does that mean no matter who we vote for we get rubbish pollies and lies? Again? And the decline just keeps on going? Surely not!
Surely if we vote for a fringe party or coalition we’ll be magically saved.

David you are correct about John Gorton, a Senator who moved to the Reps and became PM. This is what both Matt Canavan (National Party) and Alex Antic (LNP) should consider). Both are outstanding MPs with leadership credentials, who are wasted in the Senate. Both are potential Leaders of their respective Parties.
There would be no contest for Antic against Ley, although Hastie commands a great deal of support amongst Libs. But Canavan has yet to round up sufficient support to overthrow David Littleproud, who is a good man, but not a strong enough Leader.
20
Littleproud is highly inappropriate to lead the Nats at the next election.
So I suggest a clean skin, Andrew Gee should be encouraged to rejoin the party and become leader.
He really is a good man.

Scott Adams’ comic strip “Dilbert” was pulled from numerous newspapers in 2023 after he made racist comments in a video, suggesting that Black Americans who disagreed with the slogan “It’s okay to be white” were a “hate group.” This led to widespread backlash and the cancellation of the strip by many media outlets.
I missed this story at the time but do recall the local paper (not locally owned) stopped running his cartoons.

Here is an interesting video talking about the “ageing population” swindle, used to justify unlimited immigration into Britain of people who mostly have anti-Western, anti-British views and many of whom have a propensity to violence and terrorism. (As is obvious.)
There is no evidence that the population is ageing any more than it was 50 years ago.
The Left love mass immigration of people with incompatible, usually violent anti-Western values because of the chaos that ensues and the decreased standard of living because many of these people will never work, produce or pay taxes.
Similiar arguments are applied in other woke Western countries like Australia.

Obviously a site for the walking woke.
My cynicism is not medical advice. By all means follow the recommendations of Pfizer whose site and advertising campaign it is.
And a timely reminder for all wokesters to go out and their 43rd booster shot.
280
I have two nearby neighbours who have had Covid boosters recently. One has developed poly arthritis out of the blue and the other had severe arm pain, which resolved after a few days. Arm pain following the injection is a risk factor for further adverse reactions.
180
If Covid doesn’t “get” you then the vaccine will!!
190
It is just possible that some mask wearers** are trying to avoid asthma from pollen.
** Another category is politicians trying to get re-elected by not reminding people of previous appearances.
90
Why people are still lining up for Covid boosters is beyond me. A cursory survey on the net will show the overwhelming evidence that the vaccines do not stop infection and may well adversely affect the immune health of a good percentage of the vaccinated.
30
Incidentally, there are still, to this day, plenty of people dutifully wearing their obedience masks. Even single people in cars.
160
Surely those people are a danger to other road users, due to the risk of passing out from lack of oxygen to their single brain cell.
130
I think in 2026, that wearing a mask alone in a car is a fair indicator that you do not have the mental capacity to be in charge of a motor vehicle.
20
What really annoys me is this is pharmaceutical advertising by stealth. It’s one of those “ …. go speak to your doctor “ type or disease awareness advertising campaigns. Also, now replicated by makers of Ozempic/Wayego. That campaign is masked as “ if you’ve tried everything “ , meaning if you tried diets and exercise with no success, go get some Ozempic from your doctor. Direct drug advertising of prescription drugs is not allowed in Australia. (1989), but somehow it’s gets sidestepped by the clever pharmaceutical marketing people.
130
Like the endless radio adverts for mental health. If your feeling sad speak to your doctor, they can give you some thing to make you feel better.
70
Yes, and if the first medication doesn’t help they’ve got other medications to make you feel nothing at all.
110
Australian doctors have a very unhealthy relationship with big pharma.
‘Our team analysed reports from major drug companies, in the first comprehensive analysis of its kind. We found drug companies paid more than A$33 million to doctors in the three years from late 2019 to late 2022 for these consultancies and expenses.’ (The Conversation)

As a curiosity, does anyone know the actual booster number that people should have had by now?
….according to the eggspurts anyway…..
20
The only info I can find is that a booster is recommended every 6 months for older people.
So by my reckoning some people would be up to shot number 10 or more.
I’m at least 10 behind then…oh well…

Starmer is reportedly going to remove the compulsory nature of Digital ID to work, because that is the most unpopular element.

That was the main reason he used to try and sell it in the first case, piggybacking off concerns over illegal immigration.
https://order-order.com/2026/01/13/government-set-to-scrap-plans-to-make-digital-id-mandatory-to-work/
140
Perhaps “not compulsory” but maybe you’ll need it for anything meaningful like getting a job, using a bank or interacting with a Government department etc..
It will be like covid “vaccinations” in Australia. Supposedly “not compulsory” but you basically couldn’t do anything like work unless you had them.
170
No, specifically not compulsory for a job.
That is the U-Turn, which makes the whole project pointless from any angle.

Because nothing says “trust the science” quite like hiring East German hackers to vaporize a scientific journal.”
“Naturally, C&C —operating in its customary samizdat capacity— helped smuggle out the digitally embargoed PDF and published a readable summary so the study couldn’t be quietly buried alive. While we were defeating the early effort to smother the study in the crib, Big Pharma kept brainstorming. For the thirty-four years of the UNFCCC, we have heard nothing but how the world only has twelve years to save itself! We have been warned that we’d see cities swallowed up by rising oceans, a theme that gave us at least one cheesy cinematic guilty pleasure (Waterworld) and another film so bad that it’s unwatchable (The Day After Tomorrow). Every human conflict has been tied to global warming, as though wars only started with the internal-combustion engine and that religious and territorial disputes only went back to the launching of Standard Oil. And on the other side of the coin I remember the official signs posted at the Copperlode Dam near Cairns which warned of the loss of tropical rainforest habitat because of reduced humidity. FWIW – Denmark looking after Greenland
“GOOD LORD, I HAD NO IDEA:”
“What has been largely absent from the media’s narratives about Greenland is the fact that, from 1966 to 1991, Danish authorities ran a systematic program to suppress Greenland’s birth rate by effectively sterilizing thousands of women and girls, some as young as 12, during routine health appointments, without their knowledge or consent.
In light of that history, Denmark has no moral standing to lecture anyone about Greenland, its people, or its future, and it certainly does not deserve compensation of any kind for relinquishing control. This was the conduct of a colonial power engaged in population control, extending well into the modern era. Denmark should disappear from the discussion entirely and leave Greenland and its people free of any further interference or pretense.”

So arresting old ladies for feeding pigeons? An old man for spitting out a leaf blown into his mouth? Fining a guy for “fly-tipping” (I had to look that one up) for a trash bag IN HIS CAR? (The definition is tossing trash in a public space – I.E. dumping it. NOT keeping it in a trash bag for proper disposal at home…)
And frankly, if those two Karen Cops were at my door looking at me like that (slightly spaced out condescension) I’d just say politely “Thank you for your time, but sorry, have to go to the loo” and close the door…
EVERYONE is annoyed about something some time. Criminalizing ANY and ALL annoyance will just get everyone arrested and fined. Get a grip, UK. Actual CRIME involves more than annoyance. Things like bodily harm, destruction of significant value (i.e. not stepping on grass, but burning down a building) that kind of thing.
So some Karen doesn’t like an old lady feeding the birds? Do Not let that Karen make laws.
Law by Busybody does not end well.”

Section 116 of the Australian Constitution:
The government’s hands are currently tied by the constitution. They can’t make a law that would not allow the free exercise of Islam. They must be allowed to quote the Quran, including any part directed against Jews and anyone else.
But that’s not why they have left out banning Islamic hate preachers quoting the Quran against Jews. Otherwise Albanese would have simply said that was the reason. The real reason is they didn’t want to, and the hate speech laws are to restrict everyone.
As for the Old Testament being obsolete. The bible includes both. It’s not considered obsolete.
The Jews only have the Old Testament. (I think) They certainly don’t consider it obsolete.

Scientists develop spray-on powder that instantly seals life-threatening wounds
On December 29th, KAIST announced that a joint team led by Professor Steve Park of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor Sangyong Jon of the Department of Biological Sciences had created a powder based hemostatic agent that rapidly forms a strong hydrogel barrier. When applied to an injured area, the material transforms within about one second, sealing the wound almost immediately.
The ‘AGCL powder’ developed this time has a structure that combines biocompatible natural materials such as Alginate and Gellan Gum (which react with calcium for ultra-fast gelation and physical sealing) and Chitosan (which bonds with blood components to enhance chemical and biological hemostasis). It reacts with cations such as calcium in the blood to turn into a gel state in one second, instantly sealing the wound.

Now that we have seen the passing of the first quarter of this century, it is a time to update some data and inferences about climate change.
The present task on my PC addresses the often-stated “factoid” the the hotness, hence harm, of heatwaves is increasing as the global temperature increases.
Now, be cautious, because a lot about heatwaves depends on how they are defined and when their measurements start and end over time.
I am updating the 6 State capitals plus Darwin and Alice Springs,to give decent coverage of Australia with the longest available temperature records, earliest 1856. I calculate heatwaves lasting 1, 3, 5, 10 days as the highest averged Tmax of that many consecutive days in each year. It is not ideal, but it is about all we have. It will take about a week to do the remaining 6 cities, with Adelaide and Alice Springs finished today. Lamentably, Aldelaide and Alice do not show the assumed increase in hotness of heatwaves. Let us see what the next 6 cities show. Tip – there is little sign of that hottest evah! year of 2024.

“*The Financialization of Everything: Engineer discusses Windows 11; RushBabe49 applies it to another area.”
“Just recently, a new guy I follow on X did a very enlightening post on Windows 11, and how Microsoft succumbed to the trend toward the bean-counters running the show. Reproduced entirely below, with link to original X post at the bottom. He connects all the dots leading to the short-circuiting of the process of updating a huge software package. See if you don’t agree.”

I would pick this up, going ‘that looks handy’: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-01-14/pipe-bombs-found-on-canberra-footpaths/106230350
(I pick up litter too – not just what looks useful)

Typical plumbers! Never pick up the stuff they drop on a job!
To be a pipe bomb they would need a detonator and a fuse or some control device for that detonator.. Those are just bits of pipe.
