New deniers eh? One third of UK teenagers think climate change is deliberately exaggerated

By Jo Nova

There is hope: Thirty years of namecalling, propaganda and censorship still isn’t enough

Despite being raised on non stop media propaganda and being drip fed the climate bible in school, one third of teenagers have somehow figured it out anyhow. Even the systematic censorship on Youtube and Google where skeptics are downranked, delegitimized and demonetized hasn’t stopped the truth getting through to some of the most impressionable and vulnerable minds.

Because this blasphemy is shocking to Guardian staff, that students might think for themselves, they can only report it with a ready-made excuse loaded into the subheader. It’s Youtube’s fault.

Helena Horton, The Guardian writes:

Third of UK teenagers believe climate change exaggerated, report shows

YouTube criticised for amplifying lies about the climate with disinformation videos watched by young people

A third of UK teenagers believe climate change is “exaggerated”, a report has found, as YouTube videos promoting a new kind of climate denial aimed at young people proliferate on the platform.

So it’s not that climate models have been pathetically wrong for their whole lives, and many of their parents and grandparents don’t believe the climate religion either — this is caused by evil YouTubers who have been running sophisticated communication campaigns or something like that. It’s a new kind of denial they say (presumably getting ready to ask for even more Youtube and social media censorship).

Instead of studying the climate, Guardian journalists and academics study opinion polls, and trends in fashionable words, which is why they have no idea what is going on.

Their own weapons-grade namecalling campaign has fooled themselves. Who are these mythical denier creatures who don’t think we have a climate?

Previously, most climate deniers pushed the belief that climate breakdown was not happening or, if it was, that humans were not causing it. Now, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) has found that most climate denial videos on YouTube push the idea that climate solutions do not work, climate science and the climate movement are unreliable, or that the effects of global heating are beneficial or harmless.

Researchers from the CCDH gathered a dataset of text transcripts from 12,058 climate-related YouTube videos posted by 96 channels over almost six years from 1 January 2018 to 30 September 2023. They also included the results of a nationally representative survey conducted by polling company Survation which found 31% of UK respondents aged 13 to 17 agreed with the statement “Climate change and its effects are being purposefully overexaggerated”.

“Researchers” from the CCDH  imply there is some devious importance or meaning in the “shift” in YouTube topics as if some guys in a smokey room are dishing out the orders. But around 2018 there were a spate of super cold winters, and lately, there has been a spate of economic “storms” for wind and solar projects. The only reason the youtube content has changed is because the most spectacular failures have changed.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) was founded by a policy advisor to the UK Labor party, and has staffers on the board. They’re so tight with the Labor party, one board member had to resign to become chief of staff to the current Labor leader Kier Starmer. (See InfluenceWatch for details). That’s how “non-political” the CCDH is — practically a subdivision of the British Labor Party.

This activist team get about $1.5 million dollars to save the world, but mostly uses it to silence people who point out how stupid climate change policies are. The CCDH provide the statistical cover so the old Twitter could pretend they had a reason to exile Katie Hopkins, and Google could pretend they have an excuse to demonitize ZeroHedge.

If only they had evidence, they could just tell the kids about science instead, eh?

And if they asked students if climate change was more religion than science, and mostly done for money, the answer would probably be a lot higher than 31%.

When the goal is subjugation and control, the root cause of any failure is always going to be “not enough censorship”.
The people driving this madness might be charlatans, bullies, and liars, but you can’t fault their consistency.

Once the lights start going out and all your food spoils regularly and life becomes absolutely unaffordable a lot more will wake up, but by then the fix will be impossible and Western world will end. Thanks Davos billionaires.

I remember, just, as a young teenager in the late 60s being pretty switched on to the hypocrisy and lies of the establishment and distrustful of old men in suits or uniforms. I suspect today’s teenagers on the whole are pretty similar. I doubt they have much respect for the Davos set. Tomorrow’s voters may surprise the blob.

I don’t think young people necessarily distrust “old men” per se, either now or when you and I were young. I think what they generally rail against is the ‘establishment’ and authority. Today’s charlatans and fear mongers have succeeded through the clever ruse of portraying themselves as anti-establishment figures who are trying to secure young people’s future. Even a 70yo can pull this off so long as he wears a loud T shirt and sympathises with poor young people who are misgendered.

Having said this, recent propaganda has succeeded in painting ‘boomers’ as enemies of the young, to blame for all the world’s ills (even youngsters who are on benefits blame us for them being unable to buy a house … ), so in that respect I agree with you.

Yes, it’s crazy that in the 60s the young distrusted government of all persuasions, now, for left-wing governments, they’ll cut off their right arm for them.

The Human world has been flourishing since 1950 and the population has increased from 2.5 billion then to over 8 billion today.
Global life expectancy has increased from 45.5 years to 71 or 73 years over the last 74 years.
But our poorest continent Africa has increased life expectancy from 36 years in 1950 to 61 or 64 years today and the population has increased from 227 million to 1.49 billion in 2023.
Deaths from extreme weather events have plummeted by 95% at least since 1920 while over 6 billion more people today are at risk. Just look up the data for yourselves.
And people are able to eat more food today and very few people starve, unlike the first 300,000 years of Human existence. Look it up.
AGAIN Human life expectancy was just 28.8 years in 1770, 32 years in 1900, 45.5 years in 1950 and 71 or 73 years in 2023. AGAIN, see OWI Data.
BTW Macrotrends still use a slightly higher life expectancy today than OWI Data.

Here’s OWI Data life expectancy since 1770 and I note that now global and African life expectancy have been adjusted up in 1950 by over 1 year.
This has taken place in the last few months. Our Oceania region has the World’s highest life expectancy in 2023. But due to NZ and Aussie populations and low island numbers.

Vaclav Smil’s books explain that the modern world is the result of steel, concrete, plastics and synthesised nitrates, all produced using large amounts of reliable energy generated mostly by burning fossil fuel. Plus an infrastructure that allows reliable supply chains. He believes the climate scare but he isn’t an atmospheric scientist and we can forgive him that. How the World Really Works is an excellent book on the materialist aspects of modern life.

    An impressive number.

    There is some hope!

However, this is why Governments of the West are so determined to introduce misinformation/censorship legislation, especially the more woke ones like Australia’s.

And remember it was the Liberal faction of Australia’s Uniparty who was originally responsible for writing the censorship Bill that the Labor faction is trying to introduce, despite 23,000 submissions in opposition to it (which are being ignored).

The next step to combat the outbreak of rational thought of “climate change deniers” will be to commit such erroneous thinkers to mental institutions or Gulags to be worked to death as the Communists did or for sterilisation or murder as done by the National Socialists.

The Australian Psychological Society has already made tentative moves to suggest that “climate change denial” is a psychological issue:

    https://psychology.org.au/community/advocacy-social-issues/environment-climate-change-psychology/resources-for-psychologists-and-others-advocating/the-psychology-of-climate-change-denial

Science denial can be stopped by first explaining the psychological research into why and how people deny climate science.

    And

    https://www.skynews.com.au/opinion/andrew-bolt/climate-change-denial-now-a-mental-condition/video/24bce3ff8326953248603ab1d65ac98f

Sky News host Andrew Bolt says doubting climate change has become a “mental condition”.

Mr Bolt says a study of 390 people from psychologist Dr Rachael Sharman shows those who “suffer from this disorder” of not believing climate change are typically older, conservative, and have “lower environmental values”.

    And

    https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/10/161004103313.htm

The results show that climate change denial correlates with political orientation, authoritarian attitudes and endorsement of the status quo.

It also correlates with a tough-minded personality (low empathy and high dominance), closed-mindedness (low openness to experience), predisposition to avoid experiencing negative emotions, and with the male sex.

Importantly, one variable, named social dominance orientation (SDO), helped explain all these correlations, either entirely or partially.

Social dominance orientation is a measure of the acceptance and advocating of hierarchical and dominant relations between social groups.

This acceptance of hierarchies also extends to accepting human dominance over nature.

    And

    https://reneweconomy.com.au/the-thinking-error-that-makes-people-susceptible-to-climate-change-denial/

Close examination of the arguments made by climate change deniers reveals the same mistake made over and over again. That mistake is the cognitive error known as black-and-white thinking, also called dichotomous and all-or-none thinking. As I explain in my book “Finding Goldilocks,” black-and-white thinking is a source of dysfunction in mental health, relationships – and politics.

    Etc..

It’s not so new. Fully ten years ago I attended a climate hysteria talk (here in England) by an academic botanist who, with his wife, had the staggering hubris to write a book explaining the pathological psychology of the climate denier. That my views actually came from a knowledge of atmospheric physics superior to his own never seemed to occur to this arrogant man. The event spurred me to write my own talk about climate, which I have now given publicly several times and, to my delight, prevented at least one elderly lady from living the rest of her life in fear. The young, I warn that there is more to fear in climate change policy than in actual climate change.

Wow, that lot sounds like cases of pots calling kettles black!

Who is more dogmatic and fixed in their ideas than a green, a labor supporter, a WEF billionaire, a communist, a Marxist, a Trotskyist, a Maoist, a Pol Pot, or any other dictator you care to name – whether a “climate change denier” or not?

After all, Hitler was supposedly a vegetarian and “nature lover”, yet he saw fit to murder millions for his own sick ideology.

I’m happy to be open-minded, questioning, skeptical – but still understand that CO2 is not the main driver of our climate, and that we do not face any existential climate threat from CO2 or any other of the “greenhouse” gases.

Those who apparently do not understand that the Earth’s climate has changed dramatically over its existence, and that if it had not none of us, literally, would be here, are far more dangerous. Those who believe that only what they have experienced in their lifetime is all there is or ever should be, and who would demonise, jail or even kill those who do not agree with them are the dangerous ones.

Part of the Left’s war against truth is the war against objective journalism.

The Epoch Times is a rare example of objective journalism hence a large number of “hit pieces” written against it.

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/article/wave-of-hit-pieces-reveals-why-establishment-is-terrified-of-this-defiant-newspaper-5555643

Readers seeking truth and tradition flocked to the publication.

All of a sudden, the anti-communist newspaper founded by Chinese dissidents didn’t seem so cute and harmless anymore. Media outlets that treated their establishment counterparts as gentlemanly rivals lined up to take aim at a fast-rising competitor—in some cases, just before the 2020 presidential election.

Slowly and then all at once, the hit pieces against The Epoch Times came in—from NBC News, the NY Times, The Atlantic, and others.

Yet their attacks may have revealed more than they bargained for. Each one had to acknowledge The Epoch Times’ growing importance.

Thanks David. I didn’t know the Epoch Times was founded by anti- communist dissidents. That makes a lot of sense when you consider they are very good at fighting against all the MSM narratives. I first became aware of ET post J6. They were the main source of video depicting the reality of that day. In particular the identification of the agent provocateurs present in the protest who were probably US fed agents. They had a video of the incident where Ashley Babbitt was shot dead and I have not seen it since. They showed the video and had a Japanese media person who commented how it was very similar to Japanese government actions in demonstrations. That the Jap government had agents who infiltrated demonstrations and caused trouble. Which then justified the actions of police etc.

I recall MSM and a few politicians attempting to draw parallels between J6 to the February 1936 coup attempt by the Imperial Way Faction. That didn’t last long, though. Not enough people had knowledge of it and even a surface level research of it revealed the strong parallels between the Swamp and the various factions of Japanese Militarism.

You have generational change with any science. As much as I don’t like to characterize climate data analysis/ climatology as a science, there must be some younger people in that field who look at all the theories with no real empirical truth and go “ hang on…. this doesn’t make sense”. Climate political alarmism has now been going on for at least 30 years, and even there a lot of Gen XYZ must be doubting all the rhetoric. Particularly when some really old bloke , who was once a rabid socialist , lives in a country far away for a globalist evil empire and says the oceans are going to boil. Maybe a lot of teenagers are now also sensing this.

Aloha! That’s sad! That means 2/3 actually think the world will end in 2030! Are we supposed to wait until 2031 to see if 2/3 think climate science is totally fake? How are so many brainwashed so easily?

This has been the long term effect of the Fabian Society practices of subjugating the education system in the West to effect a marxist revolution from within. Over the past 30 years parents foolishly trusted the teachers in public schools and those parents essentially treated elementary school as their child’s “day care center”. Parents have been engaged too long in this DROP AND GO mentality! PTA meetings used to be every parent in the neighborhood came to the school to meet the teachers and give a damn about their own child’s education.

Truly we need to know why were these teachers so easily brainwashed to believe they own our kids? When did the THREE R’s go from Reading Riting and Rithmatic to Recking Resexing and Revolution? For every child that fails at reading one teacher needs to be fired. For every child that fails at writing once teacher needs to be fired. For every child that fails at math one teacher needs to be fired. Teacher unions need to be abolished. The federal education dept need to be scraped since each state should regulate its own education system. End the bureaucracy! End the public school monopoly! If ever there was “anti-trust” its the public schools run 100% exclusively by government. Either that or end property taxes. No more cake and eat it too!

Under graduate school teachers are ill equipped to teach climate change

‘Overall, results suggest that most of the 87 PSTs were, by their own admission, not well equipped to teach their future students about climate change.

‘The reasons for this seem to include an implicit lack of understanding of the underpinning science, its impacts and/ or mitigation and adaptation actions that are necessary for pro-environmental action and a leaning towards a belief for a “balanced’ view of climate change.

‘The media was a strong element in their sources of knowledge (and possibly beliefs). Sky News host Sharri Markson has revealed a NSW cabinet minister’s wife has been disciplined by the Department of Education for pro-Palestinian activism at the public school where she teaches.

Despite this action, the Emergency Services Minister Jihad Dib’s wife, Erin, was part of a small group of teachers on Friday plotting a protest outside the offices of Chris Minns, Anthony Albanese or Jason Clare.

During the meeting, Ms Dib, a teacher at Burwood Girls’ High, offered to help produce a booklet to distribute at schools which accuses Israel of genocide and it explains how to get around the Education Department code of conduct.

Sky News has obtained an exclusive audio recording of the Teachers for Palestine group meeting on Friday which was attended by about 15 people.

In the explosive audio recording, Ms Dib discloses who her husband is as they debate which politician’s office to hold a rally outside of.

Here’s the conclusive proof that our modern world is the safest and best time to be alive.
In 1990 the world population was 5.3 billion and deaths from lack of food = 656,300 deaths.
Yet in 2019 deaths from lack of food were 212,200 and population was about 7.9 billion.
Also in Africa deaths from lack of food in 1990 were 208,200 and population 0.638 billion.
Yet in 2019 deaths from lack of food were 94,700 and population was about 1.2+ billion.
So leave the farmers alone and things can only improve. And we are definitely experiencing the best climate in Human history.
And this remarkable change has occurred in just the last 30 years.

When I went looking for the science I could not find it – when I went looking for the money I found the science.

The followers of the religion of Climate Change are just using the tactics of another religion.

Give me a child till he is seven years old,’ said St Ignatius Loyola, ‘ and I will show you the man.’

The World needs more ‘Naomi Seibts’ and fewer ‘Greta Thunberg’s’. The climate mafia despises kids that actually do their own research and can think for themselves.

For those interested and I expect Jo is all over this, the defamation case Mann vs Steyn is underway in Washington DC. You know, the Hockey Stick thing. It’s only taken about 10 years to eventually come to trial. A recreation and update of each day’s proceedings is being podcast. The podcast is called “ Climate change on trial”. I’m listening to it on Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/episode/0yezPHdMuWeZ2eqz0Un1fu?si=9ZhV4LexSx2QKN4LNpFlqQ) , but it’s possibly on other podcast channels. There’s 4 episodes so far.

I fear for Mark. His health isn’t great and he has been under tremendous stress for some time, first with this case, then his appalling treatment at GB News and subsequently his fight with OFCOM. I admire his determination, but since the onset of his heart problems I wish he could just walk away from all the lawfare.

Teens rebelling against climate indoctrination reflects a generation of children of students who lived through the height of climate mania the Al Gore inconvenient truth. So this is either rebellion against their parents or support of parents who have woken up to the climate alarmist narrative and have woken up to the fact that virtually all climate predictions ( especially polar bears) have been wrong and that cost of living , school fees, family values etc are all more important issues. Either way there is a light that the climate zealots appear to be losing their power.
When young people start to vote for conservatives and disrupters like Trump and Milei the activists game is over. It’s only a matter of time before the hanger on media parasites ,corporate weasels and government shysters abandon the sinking climate ship.
One by one the symbols of the decadent left will be left to wither, net zero, multiple genders, EVs , renewables, vaccine mandates etc.
The defeat of the voice has reinstated my belief that voters are not as stupid or disengaged as I have always feared and there is capacity to swing all but the most extreme from commonly held narratives.

Britain does not have a “Labor” Party. It has a Labour Party. You would think an Australian would know that.

But it now hates the British working class that was its main constituency. They nevertheless vote for it because it bribes them with their own money more effectively than the so-called Conservative Party.

88 years ago the Jarrow marchers trudged to London for the ‘right to work’. Today people demand the right not to work. In one lifetime the Welfare State has literally de-moralised the British people.

At high school many years ago we had a teacher on what you would now call ‘civics’, a nice bloke but as red as bull’s blood. Marx was served at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At the end of a year someone did a straw poll on voting preferences (when they would become eligible). More than half: conservative. Young people are not stupid and neither gullible. they look through the propaganda and manipulation, even more so than their own parents did.

While the CCDH is close to the Labour Party the sad thing is that many of the Tory Party agree with its ideas as we see by their membership of the Conservative Environment Network, funded by the greenie scum billionaires.

#32 Kim – a gallant effort to bring awareness to the upcoming situation, however Tim Pool absolutely ‘stood on his own dick’ here.
Guest Ben Davison [Suspicious 0bservers] tried to inform people from 32 minutes up to ~ 60 minutes and gave up after Pools manga 2012 and star wars detractions and buffoonery.
Go and look at the Suspicious 0bservers website or better, his yutube vids.
The earth IS warming up, but less so than every other planet in our system. That’s because we have the strongest magnetic field. But even that is diminishing at a staggering rate. And it’s believed to be worse than we know because NASA and the ESA will not release the 2020 magnetic field data. Which leads some to believe the decay rate is expotential rather than linear.

#32.1 Klem – In a forum of highly educated and inquisitive minds, your ‘retort’ is something of a horses ass. Either watch the video and agree with it / add info to it / provide info against it as opposed to a Beavis/ Butthead schtick
