Australians launch ‘cash-only week’ to protest digital payments
A growing movement of Australians against digital payments have designated this week as “cash-only week” in protest of the digital trend.
“Pay with cash only for everything that you can 3-10 July,” read a post shared on Facebook and Twitter among hundreds of thousands of users. “Please be part of this. Get behind the cash only movement.
“If everyone does cash only, it can only benefit us plebs of society. It’s our hard-earned!!! Stop paying fees and charges that big corps impose on us.”
The post was shared by Call Out Cash Businesses, a Facebook group of over 41,000 members who share which businesses refuse to accept cash. Similar groups include Keep Cash: Worldwide, a group of nearly 90,000 members who are “united across the world to keeping cash as a valid option”.

The masses do not realize what CBDC really entails. It is marketed as a convenient and modern way to bank. In truth it is a tool for control, an important tool that governments need to usher in the Great Reset. A recent poll by the Bank of Canada aimed to see how willingly the public would accept a new digital currency. Surprisingly, the majority said they were willing to make the switch without hesitation.
An alarming 59% of respondents said they are willing to switch to CBDC once available. They do not realize that they won’t have a choice in the matter. Around 43% said they were “somewhat willing” to accept CBDC. Then 11% said they were “very willing” and 5% “extremely willing.” Only 25% said they would not make the switch, which again will not be optional. Only 16% admitted that they do not understand the concept.

Spain adopts Worldcoin’s ID protocol as the company boasts ambitious plans
Spain is now the largest and fastest-growing market in Europe for Worldcoin’s World ID proof-of-personhood protocol, according to the company.
World ID uses iris biometrics as part of a digital identity and a wallet for cryptocurrency transfers. Users sign up via Worldcoin’s Orb iris scanners. Subscribers receive small sums paid in Worldcoin tokens in exchange for their data.
Since World ID launched in Madrid year ago, according to Worldcoin, 150,000 people in Spain have signed up. Reportedly, 20,000 people register every month.
Spain’s largest city, Barcelona, will be home to multiple Orbs.
Though Spain may be in the lead right now, Worldcoin expanded into Germany, Europe’s largest economy, in June.
Worldcoin also has a foothold in Portugal. As of February, 120,000 people had enrolled for WorldCoin in Portugal, a nation with 10.3 million residents. About 500 enrollments take place every day.
According to Worldcoin, it has collected 2 million biometric credentials so far, with 40,000 new registrations last week.
In an interview with crypto trade publication Coindesk, Alex Blania, CEO of Worldcoin, said he thinks a widely deployed digital identity scheme like Worldcoin’s is inevitable.
“Something like World ID will eventually exist, meaning that you will need to verify [that you are human] on the internet, whether you like it or not,” said Blania.
“I think that’s certainly going to happen with the progress in AI.”
He said he believes the transition could occur in the next couple years.

Interesting that last week I could only use cash. The banks auto tellers were down and the internet was down in the local hardware store. So no reserve cash meant no purchase could be carried out. When the shop assistant asked for $15 dollars less than the total of the items I presented I though she was incorrect; I was wrong she gave me 10% discount for cash. I won’t use anything but cash in this store from now on!
You will always need cash during power failures and emergencies that disable the internet and auto tellers etc.

SpaceX’s Starlink satellites are leaking disruptive radio signals
Radio telescopes are picking up strange radio signals from an intelligent lifeform – ourselves. A new study has shown that large satellite constellations, such as SpaceX’s Starlink swarm, are unintentionally leaking signals that can interfere with vital observations.
Interference from human activities and technology can ruin astronomical observations, so it’s no wonder that these facilities are usually built far from cities in quiet, dark, remote places. But a new threat is emerging to spoil the show – satellite constellations.
Over the last few years, SpaceX has been launching small satellites into orbit that can provide high-speed internet access to regions that normally go without. It may be a noble cause, but with thousands of them up there, they started to leave bright trails across telescope images constantly. SpaceX tried to fix this by making future satellites less reflective, but problems remain.
Now scientists have identified a new issue. They used the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) telescope to observe 68 Starlink satellites to measure the kinds of radio signals they produce, and how that can affect the astronomical observations of LOFAR and other radio telescopes.
And sure enough, they detected not just radio signals the satellites use for communication, but many of them were also emitting unintended electromagnetic radiation from their onboard electronics.

Scientists unlock the secret to flexible and unbreakable metal.
Researchers at Purdue University have developed an innovative treatment for a high-quality steel alloy that has resulted in remarkable strength and plasticity, two properties that are typically difficult to combine. The treatment creates ultra-fine metal grains on the outermost layer of the steel, which exhibit a unique behavior under strain, leading to super plasticity. While the exact mechanism behind this phenomenon remains unclear, the implications of this research are significant.
The steel alloy used in the study, known as T-91, is commonly employed in nuclear and petrochemical applications. However, the researchers believe that this treatment could have wide-ranging applications, including car axles, suspension cables, and other structural components that require strong and ductile steel.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this research is the discovery of a “nanolaminate” structure within the treated steel. This nanolaminate consists of ultra-fine metal grains extending approximately 200 microns from the surface. Microscopy images have revealed unexpected deformation patterns in the treated steel, which has been named G-T91 (gradient T91).

Although metals like steel may appear uniform, under magnification, they are composed of individual crystals called grains. When a metal is subjected to strain, these grains can deform in a way that maintains the metal’s structure without causing rupture, enabling it to stretch and bend. Larger grains can withstand more strain than smaller grains, creating a trade-off between large-grain deformable metals and small-grain strong metals.

During the 1990s a former ADF Intelligence Corps Officer who had been working at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, asked a group of business colleagues at lunch if they believed there were “UFOs”. He explained his sighting standing behind the flight crew on an RAAF Hercules C-130 flying to Indonesia and crossing the WA Coast.

For the first time since its release, OpenAI’s uber-popular ChatGPT has lost users month-over-month, The Washington Post reports, a possible sign that the AI chatbot’s popularity may have already peaked.
According to internet data firm Similarweb, mobile and desktop traffic to the AI chatbot’s website fell almost ten percent in June compared to the previous month, a worrying sign for OpenAI, as the company is spending a fortune keeping its AI chatbot running.
It’s also a notable trend, considering ChatGPT was hailed as the fastest-growing app ever earlier this year, reaching an estimated 100 million active monthly users in just two months. (Meta’s Threads has since taken the crown for amassing 100 million users in just five days.)

1 positive (trying to stop a negative) and two negtive indicators.
The positive is that one shop in our local centre has taken the initiative re cash money use and has signs up encouraging cash transactions. Shopkeeper is well versed in the developments at some ANZ branches (which have chosen to not carry cash) and recent reported grocery store incidents where customers could not get cashout at assisted checkouts – don’t know if selfserves have had limits applied. Anyways she has plenty of talking points so should be able to wake up some customers.
On the negative the shopping centre is losing a coffee shop effective this Saturday. They used to be near a donut franchise which closed back in February so big open void which no doubt centre management will populate with pop-ups – how many mobile phone cases or cheap trinkets do people have a need for?
The other (strangely interesting) negative is yesterday contacted bank to inquire on finalising the mortgage and very soon into conversation the manager offered a 1.5% discount if we wanted to keep it going?!! Ummm no we are battening down the hatches and getting rid of debt. The $80k-odd mort has crept to 7.XXXX and our humanitarian impulses do not stretch to unnecessarily supporting the banking industry besides both ANZ and NAB CEOs believe customers are managing fine.

An offshore wind turbine zone has been declared for the Hunter Region NSW from Port Stephens to Norah Heads, following public protest Minister Bowen has arranged for the distance offshore to be moved from ten kilometres to twenty kilometres, each turbine about the height of City of Sydney Centrepoint Tower, so despite greater distance from shore still obvious on the seascape horizon.
Obviously offshore wind turbines are far more expensive installed and with transmission cables than on land.
However, not far to the West is the location of the recently shut down Liddell coal fired power station (2,000MW nameplate) and nearby Bayswater coal fired power station (2,600MW). The site has a coal mine and shared water supply.
Obviously replacement with Small Modular Reactors would be far less expensive and provide twenty four hour a day generators.
And I recently read that Mini Modular Reactors are now ready for sale.
The total cost of transition to the new over eighty per cent of supply, up from Labor RET of thirty per cent, is going to be environmentally damaging and impact adversely on farming and other activities. SMR can be assembled on existing power station sites and connected straight to the electricity grid.
The former CEO of Snowy Hydro has estimated that the 2023 dollar value cost of transition will be over 2,000 billion dollars and construction time over eighty years.
SMR assembled on existing power station sites could be generating within a decade.

I imagine that Ruritania and the Duchy of Grand Fenwick – or other potential hostile powers – will note the presence of a big cable – >20 Km long – keeping the lights on [if the wind blows …].
Of course, if there is no hostile power, that won’t matter; the octopi won’t break it.
But I could imagine that there c o u l d be a hostile power within the limited lifetime of the bird choppers.

I’m a big fan of the Dac, they were advanced in their day and last forever.
On an anti-submarine exercise with RAAF 10 Sqn. in the RNZAF base near Auckland that I will make no attempt to spell, we were taken on a trip to Rotorua on a day off. Two aircraft were available, a Dac and Bristol Frightener [not misspelled]. Wing spars break on the Bristol so it was a no-brainer which I chose. 🙂
