Trump’s advisers vow to decimate climate policy and go all-out on fossil fuels

Donald Trump

By Jo Nova

Now that the Billionaire-Green mask is off, conservatives are getting serious

Scott Waldman at Politico outlines the nightmare scenario where if Trump wins, he might “rewrite federal climate reports” or “install loyalists atop key science agencies” without seeming to realize that’s the Democrats modus operandi of science for thirty years.

No more going wobbly in climate fight, Trump supporters vow

Trump’s campaign utterances, and the policy proposals being drafted by hundreds of his supporters, point to the likelihood that his return to the White House would bring an all-out war on climate science and policies — eclipsing even his first-term efforts that brought U.S. climate action to a virtual standstill. Those could include steps that aides shrank back from taking last time, such as meddling in the findings of federal climate reports.

“The approach is to go back to all-out fossil fuel production and sit on the EPA,” said Steve Milloy, a former Trump transition team adviser who is well known for his industry-backed attacks on climate science.

But as the GOP front-runner, he’s gone back to alleging that human-caused global warming is fake, is baselessly blaming whale deaths on wind turbines and said last month that if elected he would be a “ dictator for one day” — in part so he could “drill, drill, drill.”

Robert Gottleibsen points out that if the Trump plans are carried out Australian green policies will be wildly out of whack with the US. Even the presence of Trump 2.0 on the campaign trail can put a break on climate-ambition:

US Flag, Flying.

Trump aims for the US to have the lowest-cost energy and electricity of any nation in the world, including China, by reversing the Biden carbon policies. He will ramp up oil drilling on public lands; and offer tax breaks to oil, gas, and coal producers; roll back current efforts to encourage the adoption of electric cars; and reverse the proposed pollution limits that would require at least 54 per cent of new vehicles sold in the US to be electric by 2030.

That will make Australia out of step with the US, and it means that the world is going to reduce carbon emissions at a much slower pace. We will need to take that into consideration in our policies.

“We’re writing a battle plan”:

[Politico] Dozens of conservative groups have banded together to write climate policy goals that would devastate virtually every regulation of the fossil fuel industry. The Project 2025 effort, led by the Heritage Foundation and partially authored by former Trump administration officials, also would turn key government agencies, such as the Environmental Protection Agency, toward increasing fossil fuel production rather than public health protections.

“We are writing a battle plan, and we are marshaling our forces,” Paul Dans, director of Project 2025 at the Heritage Foundation, told E&E News for a story last year. “Never before has the whole conservative movement banded together to systematically prepare to take power Day 1 and deconstruct the administrative state.”

It’s excellent to hear conservatives are banding together and planning ahead on climate policy. We just hope they are also banding together on election reform to get rid of electronic machines, fix dodgy software, reduce ballot harvesting and teach voters why fraud is not The American Way. Polling effectively shows 13 million voters in the US would admit casting fraudulent ballots if asked by a pollster. One fifth of US voters don’t seem to know that polling is meant to be done in the privacy of a ballot booth, not watched by coercive friends, or handed to middle men…

Climate bullying doesn’t work anymore

The experts have noticed that Trump is not “tempering” his language. The climate bullies are irrelevant.

Dana Fisher, director of American University’s Center for Environment, Community and Equity, called the change in tone both notable and dangerous — showing that Trump is no longer concerned about reaching moderate and independent voters with his approach to climate policy.

“He doesn’t feel like he has to temper his language,” Fisher said. “The rhetoric means that he’s much more likely to empower these efforts and initiatives than when he was concerned about how they would play the last time.”

And after 91 indictments, it’s not like anyone would care about being called a climate denier. Indeed, he is probably hoping they’ll do it more.

To reassure himself, the Politico writer doesn’t think Trump’s full throated “denial” will sit well with the voters (boy is he in for a surprise).  He quotes the usual mindless apple-pie climate poll, where people are asked if they don’t mind if the government uses other people’s money to solve climate change.

The Daily Mail asked the voters instead, and found it was a winner:

‘Drill, baby, drill.’ Americans by wide margin back Trump’s greenlighting of oil and gas projects

Daily Mail

Americans by a wide margin endorse President Donald Trump’s pledge to ‘Drill, baby, drill’ and allow oil and gas schemes on federal lands, despite fears of global warming after 2023’s searing temperatures, our poll shows.

A DailyMail.com/TIPP Poll reveals that 49 percent of US adults support the former president’s pro-fossil fuel policy, while only 40 percent disagree. Another 11 percent said they were not sure.

Trump instead vows to slash US energy and electricity costs by ramping up domestic production of fossil fuels, with tax breaks for producers of oil, gas, and coal, even as scientists warn about man-made global warming.

He also wants to scrap much of Biden’s $369 billion Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate measure in US history.

US oil production broke records last year, and it’s on track to surge to a new high of 13.21 million barrels per day this year, says a forecast from the government’s Energy Information Administration.

Steve Milloy, mentioned as a Trump advisor at the top of the Politico article, has written the skeptical JunkScience.com blog for years. If he’s ever put in charge of the EPA, it will be toast. Which is exactly why the grifters of government will fight to the death to stop Trump 2.0. They can’t let him win.

    Fantastic news.

The current anti-energy policies of the Left are about the most economically destructive policies any civilised nation can have. That, of course, is their intent.

I hope on his first day in office (assuming there’s an honest election), President Trump cancels the Paris Agreement as he did last time, only for it to be be reinstated by the Obiden regime.

As I’ve said here before, few people fully understand just what a powerhouse the US economy is when it is unleashed.

Cheap, reliable, plentiful energy drives economic activity. The USA has the added benefit of being the world’s greatest innovative, inventor economy. Creativity flows when the constraints are lifted.

If President Trump is elected again, we can expect to see the Chinese economy left struggling in the dust. All western economies will benefit as a result. It all comes down to removing the leashes.

Hopefully, for the benefit of the free world, President Trump will be elected and will unleash the economic beast that the Marxists have succeeded in wounding.

Trump is the ONLY and last chance the US and the West have.

Western Civilisational collapse is certain without him. He is the ONLY thing stopping the final phases of takeover of the West by the Left.

          Running mates

Among them: Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Kari Lake.

Kari Lake is an American former television news anchor, former candidate for governor of Arizona in 2022, and current United States Senate candidate in Arizona for the 2024 election.

‘the ONLY and last chance the US and the West have.
‘..Western Civilisational collapse is certain without him. He is the ONLY thing stopping the final phase.’
Therein lies the fight. The last election was fought on the same grounds. The left extreme knew Trump could destroy 50years of work and power gained over the entire country. Voters were detail-naive re their future under all the AGW propaganda, and they were further side-tracked by COVID-19. We watched the seemingly dirty but ‘legally clean’ vote counting period play out. Recall the SCOTUS eavesdropper (who seems to have not been heard of again) who reported on a Robert’s haranguing of the other Justices not to hear cases re election procedures and Justice Thomas’ statement saying if they followed Roberts’ demands then Democracy was dead.

I only repeat this to show just how far the protection of the voting system was questionable at the last election. With what is currently happening in lawfare against Trump to try to block him standing again, add on the dissension from the last election. The next election could become explosive. The officials, law enforcement and routines this time are going to have to be impeccable if the USA is to get past this one. Remember Kennedy!

The only fault Trump had as president was that he didn’t truly understand how deranged some on the left are. If he is elected this time around, I expect he will be much more cautious when selecting his team.
David Maddison #3.1 you are absolutely correct when you say that Trump is the last hope for the West. The Left will go all out to get their ‘new voters’ organised, so 2024-28 may be the last Republican administration for a generation. But I find it inconceivable that the Left will allow Trump to win 2024. They’re too quiet at the moment, so you have to assume that they’re up to something. Mark Dice believes that they will persuade Biden to step aside and will replace him with Gavin Newsom. Given the state of affairs in California — 💩 –, how would he fare?
Others are saying that there’s another pandemic on the way, which will mean mail-in voting. The Davos crowd have been saying that ‘global boiling’ (each time I hear that term is sounds more and more ridiculous) is a ‘health’ crisis. Could that be the trigger for ‘climate’ lockdowns?
2024 is going to be a very interesting year.

I agree that the Dems will try to replace Biden, almost certainly at the last poosible moment and more likely with “Big Mike” than Newsom. I fear, if they do that, (s)he could actually win, in which case it’s all over for the “West” as we know it.

Many voters support “Action on Cllimate Change” but are unwiling to spend than $10 a week on any such action.

Claims that “renewables are the cheapest form of electricty” and “If elelcted we will reduce your power bills by $275” have been proven to be false.

And they do put power into the hands of the unelected. And they do give advantage to the world’s bad actors.

    Americans love their trucks

The most popular “car” in the USA is a pick-up truck.

In 2023, more than 700,000 customers chose a new Ford F-Series truck, making it the best-selling truck in the United States for the 47th consecutive year.

Only 3% of these sales were the EV Lightning version before Ford cancelled production.

Americans have already voted on “Action for Climate Change”.

The most popular “car” in the USA is a pick-up truck.

It is no longer unique to USA. This is a list of Australia’s top selling vehicles through 2023:

      Ford Ranger
      Toyota Hilux
      Isuzu D-Max
      Toyota RAV4
      MG ZS
      Mazda CX-5
      Toyota Prado
      Mitsubishi Outlander
      Ford Everest
      Hyundai Tucson

      https://www.canstarblue.com.au/vehicles/top-selling-cars/

I expect the only reason the Hilux lost its top spot was due to supply issues. Wait times for many Toyota models spun out to as high as 240 days in 2023. It is supposed to get better in 2024. Our local Toyota dealer stopped taking orders last year. They became a financing, service centre and second-hand dealer. Notice the oft repeated TV ads for pre-owned Toyatas?

Mine is a standard F150, year 2019. It has just 2 doors** – no back seats – an 8 ft bed. Shifts in and out of 4 wheel drive (4X4), didn’t cost a fortune, and hasn’t spontaneously burst into flames.

**Quite rare in modern pickups. Mine has just enough of the “nanny” schist to tick me off.

That’s a sweeping statement. Try driving a small 2WD in the snow for 3 months or more each year compared to a larger vehicle, and tell me which one you prefer; especially when the salt used on the roads eats through the panels on your small car within 2 years. Or how about attaching a snow plow to the front of your Subaru to clear your driveway? Small cars have their advantages, but a sweeping statement like yours is a little ill-considered.

“Trump’s a Climate Change Denier!” Here comes the elite’s gaslighting to whip up hysterics against Rs, and lash the weak and ignorant into docile conformists, kneeling before Gaia.

Here’s an example that uses a vague poll to infer that Trump lost the last election because he’s out of step with the 67% of voters who say “climate change” is a problem we must do something about.
SEE El Paso, Texas video ‘news story’ https://www.ktsm.com/video/trump-has-history-of-denying-climate-change-what-it-could-mean-for-november/9357330/

Meanwhile, serious polls show that for the average voter climate ranks dead last, when ranked out of 19 other issues. This finding has remained consistent for decades.

But if one just accepts reality, where will climate hysterics acquire hope and virtue to signal?

The apparent support for climate change action comes mostly from the mistaken belief that somebody else is paying for it, or even that renewables will be cheaper. As the economic reality dawns on them, support will plummet.

Hi Greg. I had cataracts removed from both eyes four years ago. Fantastic difference. However, watch out for your vision gradually becoming a little hazy. It is very common. The natural existing capsule remaining behind the new lens starts to cloud over. Easily fixed by laser surgery. My surgeon did it in his office in about ten seconds for each eye, removing a “spy hole” just behind your new lens. Now all good, clear vision.

My surgeon does that as standard procedure now, about 6 months after the initial surgery.

Being able to see out of one eye properly mostly just shows up how bad the other one is 🙁
The disparity between them soon becomes rather disconcerting, so having them both working properly again is a great relief.

btw Greg, my surgeon is an expatriate Kiwi.

Trump has shown gross naivety about many things outside business.
He seems to listen, get the drift in arguments from people (no doubt acceptable as experts to the people he trusts), a little the way some like me use this blog.
Nobody knows nor is expected to know everything in detail about everything.

Trump understood the arguments for cheap medicines for COVID but lacked the knowledge of how to present it. The media made him out to look stupid. Trump said he ‘liked’ the NK leader and Putin. It’s his way of noting his language and threat had got through to them so everybody knew where they stood. Again, the Press had its field day pretending to be aggrieved that he would say such things.

On AGW he knows the right people and would understand the massacring of the scientific method by ‘opinion science’ and the reasons for it. He should let the detailed debate on climate be handled by the Currys etc. Use texts presented in simple form, prepared by expert ‘climate scientists’ for his speeches. His Achilles heel is saying too much about things he is not up to scratch on. Such off-the-cuff remarks are used to destroy him.

We can only hope that Trump remains in good health and good spirits and surrounds himself with wise people prepared to do all the things needed to remove the sludge and slime from Washington DC.

I would not be disappointed to see DeSantis join Trump for the run to the Whitehouse. Florida’s response to Covid under DeSantis sets him apart. Trump was flustered during those days -being badly misled by his medical adviser. DeSantis probably had more time to think it through and made wise choices by putting freedom above “public health”. As VP, Desantis would be in good stead to follow Trump for two more terms. Think what that would mean for the cause of sanity.

Melbournians are probably the best people in the world to retrospectively assess different approaches to “public health”. The Melbourne street skirmishes where the public were battering the police and the police were battering the public were not particularly healthy. Dan was making a point that we will mame you for the good of “public health” – and I doubt Dan would appreciate the incongruity.

The UN is working toward enshrining loss of freedoms for the sake of “climate” and “public health”. There need to be strong minded people calling out this dangerous carp. UK is already advancing this agenda with their ULEZ zones. No wonder the plebs are reacting.

I would have “Defund UN” as the #1 item of Project 2025. All those incompetent morons working on CMIP7 and AR7 can get a real job doing useful things.

Yes, the opposition would love a RINO for VP as an insurance policy. DeSantis is not a RINO, particularly on the climate action fraud. That’s a different kind of insurance policy.

The EXAGGERATED so called dangerous SLR scare is always abused by the delusional CC loonies and is flogged to death every month of every year.
Of course so much of it is just more BS and FRAUD and it’s great to see Dr Pielke jr’s latest post on LANDIFICATION this month.
He lists many of the studies showing coastal land increases around the world and also the growth and stability of Coral islands etc.
Even their loopy ABC has now agreed with Bolt about the coral islands stability and growth over the last 30 years.

The swamp will go all in to stop him . For me , I don’t trust any politician on either side . How many times have you been lied to by them ? Promise everything and deliver whatever your donors want . Get a large pension for life even when you stuff up and get caught . My trust will have to be earned . All red thumbs will be added to my collection….

Trump’s advisers should tell Trump to display this OWI Data countries’ co2 emissions graph since 1990.
This clearly proves that the co2 emissions from the NON OECD ( China, India + developing countries) countries have SOARED since 1990 while OECD emissions are only a tiny increase over the same period of time.
Isn’t it about time the VOTERS WOKE UP to the lies + CORRUPTION + FRAUD over the last 30 years?

Your graph raises the following questions

      – Do people living in China and India want to get richer (or even just have a descent stardard of living)?
      – Do people living in the USA, Europe and Australia want to get poorer?

These questions will determine the fate of Net Zero.

Per capita CO2 emissions will go much higher in China and India to catch up with the USA and other Western countries.

Fossil fuels literally fueled the Industrial Revolution (today’s climate protesters would still be tending the fields without it) and will continue to fuel improving living standards for decades to come if alllowed to do so.

IMHO there is no good reason why China and India will always be third world. If they implement (pre green madness) policies that the west have developed, and if the world can keep its energy production growing, then there is nothing to stop China and India. OK, so Xi Jinping won’t implement those policies, but even he won’t be there for ever. But the world will have to use an awful lot more nuclear energy to get there. I wish the Chinese and Indian people well. All peoples, actually.

At COP 28 China and India gave the finger to the rest of the world.

‘In the case of India, the experts say, carbon emissions are already lower on a per capita basis than in most developed countries and the government feels it is unfair for the nation to be held to the same standards.’ (VOA News)

The CCP could crumble in the near future, however any new broom will no doubt retain the per capita argument.

      BTW here’s Wiki’s version of countries’ co2 emissions since 1990 to 2021.
Note USA and EU are now lower in 2021 and EU are even lower than their 1970 co2 emissions. Will the OECD voters ever WAKE UP?

Just looking at CO2 emissions by country gives a false impression as it does not include the CO2 released in making imported goods

        Consumption-based accounting of CO2 emissions

The graph on this link shows the transfer of CO2 emissions as more manufactured goods are outsourced to China and India.

The two things stopping the re-election of Donald Trump will be:

    1) A fraudulent election.

    2) The release of the US Election Variant of Covid, or as the WHO calls it “Disease X”. This will be used to enact lockdowns and subsequently ensure the DemocRATs can harvest lots of fraudulent mail-in ballots.

In one corner, the Goliath …
Google, Blackrock, YouTube, the ‘defense’ Industry, TikTok, Facebook, NYT, WP, the alphabet aparatti entirety of Western governments, the Davos Country Club, Western Academia … the Republican party …
      https://apnews.com/article/jeff-dewit-resigns-kari-lake-recording-bribe-07319f36b057f804f880a7e07f8d16b1
      … an incomplete list.

Or in other words, the global political/cultural apparatus that perpetrated ‘Pandemic’.
An event, (if history can survive Google and Wikipedia), that will be shown to have killed millions, not from a virus, but the government response to the supposed virus …
(Sorry, if there had been a highly infectious deadly respiratory viral outbreak, the homeless villages in San Francisco would have been wiped out. Instead Gov. Newsome had to remove them when his friend Xi came to brunch.)

In the other corner, the David …
a 77 year old former TV celebrity.
      And there’s this …
      https://judiciary.house.gov/media/in-the-news/alarming-surveillance-feds-asked-banks-search-private-transactions-terms-maga

Only the intervention of higher power can help.

      Prediction.
SCOTUS will remove DJT. (The decision will be curiously leaked prior, as in the abortion decision to soften the outcry. The previous decision also conveniently timed to effect the election cycle.)
      Why?
The have a clear history of choosing the path of least resistance.
      The are elite among elites.
They possess a shared contempt of MAGA culture and the uneducated, unwashed occupants of the Southern and Fly-over States.
The removal of Trump makes their comfortable DC neighborhoods safe from Antifa siege. The DOJ and Federal LE has already signaled that they will not be protected from the protests.
The Media will celebrate their heroism.
There will be applause when they walk into the Cosmos Club.
      Win Win.
