Apple advertising goes full Climate Cult

By Jo Nova

Apple aims at customers with too much money and a desperate need to feel smug

You too can save the world, by spending two-grand on the latest tech-wear — not because it’s lighter, better, faster, bigger, or more useful, but because you want to look like you care about stopping bad weather and bush fires. Signal your virtue to the world! Wear your smug-watch and smile. It’s carbon neutral, and you are the leading carbon-show-off in the class. (Pretend you care about the kids mining cobalt in the Congo, or the Uighur camps in Xinjiang.  Oh nevermind.)

There is a spiritual void out there in 2023 and Apple wants to fill it. But this religion is a world of shallow consumerism and point-scoring, pretending it is deeply philosophical and generous.  Apple are this close to turning their brand into a teachy-preachy pagan apostle of Gaia.

And did Mother Nature say she controls the weather? Oops. What are all the windfarms for?

Mother Nature is a bossy black woman, wouldn’t you know, and the word for the advert is “cringeworthy“.

This adverts sums up everything about the motivations of the average climate acolyte. Like a Gucci handbag, it’s all for show but who cares what it can carry? Will solar panels stop the storms or wind turbines hold back the tide? Doesnt matter, as long as you can fake it.

As Heel versus Babyface says:  “Best advert for android I’ve ever seen.”

Everything seems to be climate change, climate change, climate change. Reasonably sure if there is climate change it is a cycle the planet has been through before. We had the Roman warming period, the Medieval warming period and maybe a slight natural warming period now. No amount of panic, protest or lies would have changed the last two. No amount of virtue signaling will change the current one. If it is natural, no amount of money, wind turbines or solar panels will change it either. It is a pity we are bombarded by computer generated models, false ‘prophets’ and mega rich elites jumping on the bandwagon to make a few more billion. We have been assaulted by predictions for nearly 60 years of global freezing that somehow from 1979 began to turn into global warming. I wonder what is next. Just a thought….global control!

Simply a desperate attempt by the rich and powerful to control the masses. The new world order is no longer a communist plot but a reality. There will be animals, the pigs, who are more equal than you and me. I can really think of no more apt description of the elitists like Schwarb and Besos than pigs. [snip]

Apple knows it’s market, and how to reach them

It follows then, that this advert is aimed squarely at that market.

Of course if you want to buy a watch that is not carbon neutral- there are plenty to choose from

I never thought it would happen, but I agree with Peter on this one. His very simple post includes truths, and a link to why it’s true, backing up his claim. Even a communist can be correct sometimes, lol.

I have a philosophy: “Never let politics get in the way of making money.”

I bought Apple’s stock back in 2000, based solely on the logic of “I can’t believe people are willing to pay these prices for Apple products!” I mean, Apple was right there with Exxon in Profit MARGIN. I didn’t even own an Apple product until 2016, when my sis insisted I get an iPhone on *her* plan. 🙂

I’m still holding Apple stock, retired, comfortable, not giving a single EFF what Apple (nor any other PRIVATE company) does with their marketing strategy, as long as it sells. I don’t buy their products. I don’t care that others do. I’m thrilled others might think they’re saving the planet by buying Apple’s products lol, esp at these ridiculous profit margins! Woot!

Makes me want to put up my 9 year old iphone (a gift, not a purchase) as a target at the shooting range,
but I’ll settle for shooting at a printed target of Apple’s ‘mother nature.’
Every shot makes the world a little warmer and creates more CO2. Yay!
Ayn Rand had the right idea. Go on strike against products sold by your enemies.
Send them to the ash heap along with global warming.

How much “carbon” (sic, that is what scientifically literate people call CO2) could be generated in the manufacture of a smart watch anyway?

And since Apple produces most of its products in the world’s largest CO2 emitter, China, what difference does it make?

China is building around two coal fired power stations every week, with no stopping in sight and they are the world’s largest CO2 emitter by far, more than twice as much as the United States.

Western countries are reducing their CO2 emissions while China’s are increasing almost exponentially.

How much difference could a watch make?

Not that CO2 matters, it’s good for the environment, and only about 4% or the 400ppm of atmospheric CO2 is of anthropogenic origin and rapidly absorbed anyway.

Warmists are totally silent about China’s CO2 emissions but expect Western countries to destroy themselves. That shows you their objectives and political orientation and possibly even who their paymasters are.

I posted links here the other day showing the almost exponentially increasing CO2 emissions of China, the decreasing emissions of US and EU and other countries and a reference that China is building two coal plants per week on average.

A direct quote from the video:

In the video notice also “Mother Nature” a clear reference to Gaia, the pagan earth goddess. The Left/warmists are hostile to the foundation religion of Western Civilisation, Judeo-Christianity but are subtly, and not so subtly replacing it with a pagan substitute of Gaia worship.

Gaia also demanded sacrifices for its worship. I tried the entirety of Western Civilisation will be an adequate sacrifice?

Strange ad and is very symptomatic of everything that’s bad about the climate cult. It shows how climate zealots in corporations are so paranoid about being seen as doing something about climate change that they have to think how they can virtue signal every aspect of the business and when these corporates dutifully do what the climate cult wants it’s never enough. Climate action went from reducing temps by 1 degree by end of century to 1 degree by 2060 to 1.5 by 2050 to net zero by 2030.
I think by the time it’s finished they’ll be signing up for net zero by 2020, lowering temperatures by 5 degrees and reducing population by 25%.
Who cares if it makes no sense. In the climate change fantasy world laws of physics , historical facts and reality don’t matter. The past can be changed to suit the narrative but no matter what sacrifices are made to this cult it will never be enough. Next year when Mother Nature turns up there will be another checklist of demands to be satisfied.

In the video it is stated that Apple is planting forests to offset “carbon” (sic).

Many such carbon credits are worthless, even the far Left “The Guardian” admits this.

    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/18/revealed-forest-carbon-offsets-biggest-provider-worthless-verra-aoe

Revealed: more than 90% of rainforest carbon offsets by biggest certifier are worthless, analysis shows

Investigation into Verra carbon standard finds most are ‘phantom credits’ and may worsen global heating

    The investigation found that:

Only a handful of Verra’s rainforest projects showed evidence of deforestation reductions, according to two studies, with further analysis indicating that 94% of the credits had no benefit to the climate.

The threat to forests had been overstated by about 400% on average for Verra projects, according to analysis of a 2022 University of Cambridge study.
Gucci, Salesforce, BHP, Shell, easyJet, Leon and the band Pearl Jam were among dozens of companies and organisations that have bought rainforest offsets approved by Verra for environmental claims.

Human rights issues are a serious concern in at least one of the offsetting projects. The Guardian visited a flagship project in Peru, and was shown videos that residents said showed their homes being cut down with chainsaws and ropes by park guards and police. They spoke of forced evictions and tensions with park authorities.

The analysis: “It’s disappointing and scary”
To assess the credits, a team of journalists analysed the findings of three scientific studies that used satellite images to check the results of a number of forest offsetting projects, known as Redd+ schemes. Although a number of studies have looked at offsets, these are the only three known to have attempted to apply rigorous scientific methods to measuring avoided deforestation.

5,4,3,2,1-countdown to when all the Android phone makers make similar comments. It’s like the major supermarkets couldn’t wait to announce their intentions to meet Net Net Zero. All it does is create more income for all the ad agencies. So, the majors are going to buy carbon credits. Who actually checks they did this? Which also means the backside will fall out of that dodgy market anyway.

It’s amazing what religious fanatics truly choose to BELIEVE and they couldn’t care less about the real DATA for Human flourishing over the last 100 years or 50 years or…..?
So how come 4.8 billion MORE Humans are now BETTER fed and clothed and housed ON THE SAME AREA of LAND compared to 60 + years ago?
Population then 3 billion and today 8 billion.
Global life expectancy then about 50 years and today about 73 years.
THINK and how come 1460 million Africans in 2023 enjoy a life expectancy of 64 years and are better fed and housed and educated etc than the 227 million Africans in 1950? Never forget that African life expectancy was just 36 years in 1950.
AGAIN how come this amazing Human flourishing has only occurred within the last 0.1% of our Human existence? Any ideas?

Apple claim to be a woke, environmentally friendly, Gaia worshipping company, but the reality is, their more recent products like iPhones and laptops are not easy or even not possible to repair.

Just watch any YouTube videos by Louis Rossman (US) or Australian Hugh Jeffries e.g. see https://youtu.be/K2WhU77ihw8 .

Making your product difficult, expensive or impossible to repair is hardly environmentally friendly.

      It works, Neville.

Pretty much the only people who die from famine today are due to deliberate starvation by communists in various wars, mostly in Africa and to a lesser extent Asia or socialist/communist mismanagement.

Here are the top 10 countries with most deaths caused by starvation:

      https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/starvation-deaths-by-country

      Angola: 101.32 🇦🇴
      Mali: 57.15 🇲🇱
      Bangladesh: 56.36 🇧🇩
      Cambodia: 50.19 🇰🇭
      Somalia: 46.73 🇸🇴
      Benin: 37.71 🇧🇯
      Bolivia: 31.79 🇧🇴
      Central African Republic: 29.51 🇨🇫
      Madagascar: 28.32 🇲🇬
      Eritrea: 27.52 🇪🇷

Also see relevant graph on Neville’s linked page.

I’m surprised that you are unable to see what is actually going on in these countries. The simplistic Communism/China/Russia/etc. Bad, West good is infantile. BTW none of these countries are actually communist.
The way it works is, if a country declares itself to be socialist leaning or has a desire to use its assets to better the lot of its peoples then immediately the western powers, led by the US and UN, sanction it and attempt to replace its government. The MSM will be used to declare ‘another failed communist state’ and this is echoed by intellectually challenged right wingers.
The travesty of the starvations in these countries is entirely down to the west trying to get their hands on the resources of these countries, pure and simple and evil.
Just look at Australia, UK, NZ, Canada – repressive uniparty governments, assets owned by foriegn multinationals, poor benefits, poor healthcare and excessive spending on american arms and wars. We are the defeated ones, we’ve given up fighting for our rights and freedoms. But at least we’re not commies eh !

Lest we forget. — read Gulag Archipelago, and Mao’s Great Famine.

And the one from my friend Steven Mosher, one of the few westerners allowed into China in the late 1970s, who learnt Cantonese, and was very sympathetic to the chinese rural peasants. His eyes were gradually opened to the full gruelling tyranny and horror of the Revolution and later one child policy.

The violence and atrocities inflicted in the name of the Communist regime’s various crash campaigns left their marks on many victims. During the “Cultural Revolution,” Mao had called on the Chinese youth “not only to demolish all the old ideology and culture . . . but also to create and cultivate among the masses an entirely new, proletarian ideology and culture.” No one suspected of being an employer, a landowner, an intellectual or of possessing “cultural contra band,” i.e., “anything that could be connected with the past or with the West” was safe from persecution. At any time he might be forced “to stand with bowed head and humble demeanor before a hostile crowd of people . . . who denounce him for his supposed crimes and demand a full confession.” Anyone who spoke out in defense of the accused could also expect to be denounced.

Few victims could long resist such abuse; many committed suicide; millions died or were killed. Those persecuted in this way were among China’s most exceptional persons, the most intelligent, industrious and energetic.

History is essential in understanding what has gone before – the good and the bad. China and Russia have certainly had chequered pasts, but they are very different beasts today. IMO they have learned and moved on, and now they prosper. The West hasn’t, which is why we are truly in such a state of decline.
It depresses me to see the country I grew up in becoming such a failed state. But one thing I know for sure, it’s not because of what happened in China or Russia in the past, it’s because of what’s happening in Washington and Westminster today.

I’m not denying your claims, just concerned with the sources.
BTW, organ harvesting and baby factories is rife in Ukraine but we don’t consider that an issue. Maybe because the recipients overwhelming come from America!

    Copied from elsewhere.

“Origin of the Climate Cult scam:

What’s behind this lunatic end of the world story called “climate change” that will lead to the deindustrialization of the West?

After the collapse of the Berlin Wall and then Soviet Communism, the communists had nothing left to show the world so they hitched their tent to a single issue party, the Greens, knowing that single issue parties traditionally had trouble gaining traction.

It was a marriage made in heaven(or hell), to mutual advantage.

Who is surprised that the deindustrialization of the West is now the primary goal of so called Green parties under the absurd label of climate change?

Unsurprisingly, China is exempt from any such energy regulations , as a “developing country” and continues to build a dozen new coal-fired power stations every month, for the next decade.
Australia supplies the coal, but can’t use it.
Strictly speaking this is called aiding and abetting the enemy, economic suicide, treason, and more.

It’s a very long way from saving whales, and wood chipping, seemingly admirable causes, which is why Patrick Moore, the co-founder of Greepeace quit in disgust, decades ago.

By way of example, Former Greens Sen. Lee Rhiannon, and her family, had long been under ASIO surveillance since she was a child, when people were more concerned with the threat of communism.

This is the background behind the lunatic policies of the Greens, and their scam to deindustrialize the West and institute ever greater social control, typically under the thumb of supra-national organizations such as the UN, WEF, the wealthy Foundations etc.

So yes, it is a communist plot.”

I see a lot of hate and outrage directed towards Apple in these comments, for reasons that can be applied just as easily to other consumer electronics manufacturers, but, for some reason, Apple is “worse” than the others…?

Of course, some will see this as me defending Apple, when, really, I’m just saying the negative aspects of modern consumer electronics extend beyond one brand, and the whole industry should be seen for what it is.

All consumer electronics are made by companies which benefit from slave labour at some point in their product lifecycle – to keep manufacturing costs down and to keep the products affordable.

t’s not just Apple products that are hard, or effectively impossible to repair. Glue the batteries in, solder the RAM and the storage device to the board – it makes the thing smaller, more portable, easier to make, and they are popular. They make what us – the consumers, want.

There is something different about this new situation, especially since 2016.
The obvious move by corporate actors to become overtly political, and their surprising and difficult to understand willingness to alienate large portions of their customer base.
Such as Google, Twitter and Facebook, including documented co-operation with intelligence, LE, and health officials, surreptitiously choosing sides in a US election and the associated promotion of the political aspects of a global health crisis.

Maybe there is a business opportunity here. The climate change/Gaia Worshipping/AGW/anti CO2, cult/fad/craze/hoax/scam will fade just like all crazes do. This time though the number of mentally impaired folk will be enormous, and quite possibly there will be an extreme shortage of psychiatric practitioners.
