In the USA, Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th with “fireworks” and other activities that cause ignition of fires.

“Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th with “fireworks” ”

Another great pleasure of childhood that has been banned by Western Govts for our saafety.. They would rather children sat at home and watched it on their phones, without having access to bomb-making materials.

Wrap them in cottonwool and feed them drugs for the depression that results.

Yup. Remember when we were kids are cracker night came around? Pure fun!
Now in nanny country Oz, “fun” is sitting around all day in a zombie-like trance staring at a dumbphone.
Everything potentially dangerous is banned or highly regulated “for your own good”.
Kids today will die without ever having lived.

“Kids today will die without ever having lived”

True. A lot of people are happy living a nice safe risk free life. They even go the trouble to arrogantly put risk takers down as crazy or “Darwin award candidates” They have no idea of the motivations and rewards , yet somehow feel they can pass judgement.

Indeed, I remember, back in Scotland, scouring the nearby woods for fallen timber (we could do that back in the 50’s) for the bonfire, and jumping up and down with excitement when Dad brought home the bag of fireworks. Bangers, Catherine Wheels and little Rockets. What fun we had and all in our own garden. Pity the poor kids today.

Update on the riots in France

French Police Say “We’re At War With Vermin” As Nationwide Riots Spread Like Cancer

Social unrest spread like cancer across French cities for a fourth consecutive night, with hundreds of buildings and vehicles set ablaze. President Emmanuel Macron’s government struggled to contain the violence, which was sparked on Tuesday after a teenager was shot dead by a police officer.

In an update on Saturday, France’s Interior Ministry said 2,500 fires were reported overnight. Rioters set fire to 1,350 vehicles and 235 buildings nationwide. About 1,300 people were arrested, while the government mobilized 45,000 police officers with armored vehicles to quell the violence.

According to The Telegraph, French police said they were “at war” with “savage hordes of vermin” on Friday night. The country’s top police unions threatened revolt unless Macron’s government restored law and order.

This is driven by the economic decline, cost of living, destroyed futures and pent-up resentment at das gubermint repression.

Depends entirely on who is rioting. I can guess.

If these are recent immigrants Algerians, black Africans or Syrians and it goes without saying Muslims with no heritage in this city OR they are ordinary Frenchmen who among other things are objecting to the first group.

Gigantic cities around the world are being destroyed by mass migration. No one wants to live in the country.

So lots of Paris areas are no go zones, especially around St. Denis. If you are not African there you are a rarity and there were tent cities along the Seine. When the Bataclan murderers fled, they hid in St. Denis. I went there not long ago to visit the Basilica where all the kings of France were buried. But you would think it was Africa except for the architecture. And I have never seen such heavily armed and armoured police in packs. Thanks to the WEF and mass migration, Paris is not a safe place. And that’s a single city of 11.2 Million people, half the size of Australia.

I’ve watched France deteriorate for years now, from totally unchecked illegal immigration under the guise of “refugees”.
As you say, there are no-go zones, if you’re french…
The muslims have taken over entire towns and french people are not welcomed at all. The once proud and refined french culture is gone, replaced by crime and rot. Sad.

Ol’ Klaus was ‘penetrating’ more cabinets last week.

New Zealand’s new Prime Minister, Hipkins, was the target.

They were both visiting China. They appeared onstage together under a banner that said something about “the New Champions”. There were a few others in the lineup (one Vietnamese, I think).

Hipkins muttered about the trend of some countries “looking inward” (only naughty countries would do that!); while the ‘good’ countries are “looking outward” (free entry to Klaus’ Klubhouse for saying that).

Of course, “looking outward” is code for:
      1. Open the Borders to The West i.e. crush organic wage growth for the locals by admitting hordes of cheap workers. Make housing more unaffordable for the locals.

      2. Free Trade with Authoritarian Behemoths. . . So just play into the hands of the Red Dragon. Allow them to dominate/overwhelm any industry in YOUR country, at any moment they choose.

Don’t forget, Klaus recently said “China is an attractive model” — i.e. an attractive model for other countries to follow.

He wants a “fusion of our physical, our digital, and our biological identities”.
That’s why ‘Vaccine Passports’ & a ‘Central Bank Digital Currency’ are getting the big push.

As a resident of Paris for the last 10 years, it has changed a lot in that time, some things for the better, some not (in my opinion).
One thing that has stayed the same is the protests and the property damage – are they all justified? Probably not, but I do lean towards the idea that it is better to have this “protest” mentality than to sit back and do nothing, even if I think destroying property is just not on.

There are some areas of Paris where it’s not wise to visit if one has a different skin colour to those in the area. The chances are high that nothing bad will happen during daylight hours unless you look like you’re a (very) lost tourist, or a police officer, but it can be somewhat intimidating when people stop talking to each other and just stare at you as you walk down the street.

Burning down libraries, autos, buses and looting stores is not protesting. It’s rioting.

Non-violent demonstrations by millions against pension changes, which have taken place, is perhaps what you have in mind.

Hi James, on another topic, you may be able to help.
About twenty years ago my wife and I were in Paris and I can vaguely remember visiting a church up a long slope. It may have been near a pond that people used for model boat sailing and motorised small boats. I had a quick look on the map but St Denis seems to be as far from the centre as that royal palace outside of town?
Unfortunately at the moment I can’t check it out on my home computer which has google Earth.

St Denis has a “place in infamy”KK……..the French fascist Party was formed there in 1936….”by Jacques Doriot and a number of fellow former members of the French Communist Party (including Henri Barbé and Paul Marion) who had moved towards nationalism in opposition to the Popular Front. The PPF centered initially around the town of Saint-Denis, of which Doriot was mayor (as a Communist) from 1930 to 1934, and drew its support from the large working class population in the area.

And still there are ignorant folk (known as leftists by the psychiatric profession) claiming fascism is NOT a lefty thing. All together now: shake heads and laugh whilst pointing at them!

Sunday entertainment: Anti-Oil Group Disrupts Pride Parade Over Feud With LGBT Group

Just Stop Oil, a group associated with protests targeting famous works of art, took credit for the disruption, arguing that the organizers of the parade did not do enough to condemn new oil and gas leases. According to police, seven people were arrested on “public nuisance” charges.

“Pride is a protest. But Pride in London allows destructive industries such as Coca-Cola, who are the world’s biggest plastic polluter and who have been accused of numerous human rights abuses, to co-opt it and pinkwash themselves,” Just Stop Oil said on Twitter. “The LGBTQ+ supporters of Just Stop Oil have taken action against Pride in London today, because the organisation is working with industries complicit in worsening the climate crisis.”

Is the veganism hype over? How sales of fake meat brands are dwindling across the UK with chains like Pret rolling back meat-free products and dozens of independent plant-based restaurants shutting down

The rise in vegan diets has no doubt been on of the biggest trends of the last ten years – with most food brands, restaurants and cafes launching plant-based options in their menus.

But it seems the fall of veganism has come as quickly as the rise, with many brands now ditching or declining their plant-based options with sales dwindling.

In December, Pret A Manger closed half of its vegetarian and vegan-only stores, after admitting many customers don’t see themselves as ‘full-time veggies’, while Meatless Farm, one of the country’s leading faux-meat retailers has gone into administration.

The firm was set up in 2016 and sold £11million worth of plant-based mince, burgers and chicken in 2021 – but has struggled as demand for meat-free products slowed.

While popular lunchtime staples such as Costa and Starbucks still have vegan staples on their menus, Costa’s latest summer menu offered no new vegan options, while Starbucks offered the plant-based breakfast wrap, but nothing meat-and-dairy free in their lunch menu.

Beyond Meat, was one of the brightest starts of the alternative meat sector. But in its most recent quarter it recorded a loss of almost $15m (£12.4m), and a 23% decline in sales compared with the same period in the previous year.

V Rev, one of Manchester’s first and most popular vegan eatery’s closed its doors in December.

Other vegan restaurant in Manchester including JJ’s Vish and Chips and Zad’s as well as Frost Burgers in Liverpool and Donner Summer in Sheffield also shut their doors in 2022 citing costs as the reason.

Kalifornia Kitchen, an ultra-trendy vegan eatery in London also closed its doors while the Mango Tree in Taunton, Somerset, which opened as a plant-based restaurant starting selling meat and vegetarian dishes in a bid to win more customers.

Edinburgh vegan bar and restaurant Harmonium shut after an ‘incredibly difficult period of trading’ in April.

The trend appears to be global, with vegan restaurants as far and wide as Sydney and LA also shutting down due to a combination of rising bills and less demand.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-12237675/Brits-abandoning-veganism-brands-dwindling-country.html

People have been given a chance at trying vegan diets or fake meat and rejected it.

Next: SEE a renewed push for eating insects, “to save the planet”.

In the more fanatical WEF/UN countries like Australia, they are already feeding insects to kids in the indoctrination centres once known as schools where kids used to learn useful things like reading, writing, arithmetic, history, critical thinking skills, the marvels of Western Civilisation, etc..

I am a life long vegetarian but think others should eat what they like with the proviso that if wealthy enough they buy meat that is raised and killed humanely. Vegan food is beyond dull. For some reasons those making it believe that potential customers want to have it tasting like meat. WE don’t. Vegans seem to believe they are saving the planet and can be very assertive. They aren’t saving the planet at all. I am glad the fad seems to be tailing off.

The idea, as I understand it, is to provide bacon-lovers something that looks and tastes like bacon, thus removing the need to raise pigs. Conversion then could progress. However, the few meatless “meats” I’ve checked at the grocery are much more expensive than the real thing. Second, I’ve read such products do not pass the taste test. I don’t know.

        • #
          Mantaray

tonyb. I have a philosophical / logical / experiential aversion to vegetarianism…which actually precludes most fruit and vegetables from my diet….

Almost 100% of animal and animal products are edible: almost all in their natural state, with no processing whatsoever. However, even though cooking , smoking etc makes most of them tastier while lessening the risk of spoilage, they ARE 99.99% edible raw.

Meanwhile 99.99% of plants are inedible or outright poisonous to humans. The teeny-tiny number of plants which ARE (eventually) edible are mostly very heavily processed (ground, powdered etc) Also, many of the edible ones are ONLY edible for a very short period in their growing life (ie when “ripe”). Many of the staples (including all the nightshades; potatoes etc) are serious dangers if eaten “at the wrong time”.

What this adds up to is that plants are not “meant” for human consumption. Consider then, animals eating them….

All animals concentrate on a very very limited type of plant. Some (Koalas, Pandas etc) only ONE THING. Humans however have decided to try a hundred or so, and are having issues because of this., Latest problem: diabetes and it’s variants due to grain and sugar (same thing really) consumption. Plus lotsa other worries…

PLUS, almost every nutrient a human “needs” is in the animal-based products so easily found and digested. Next time your plane crashes in the wilderness…and you survive it….how many plants will you be eating?

I’m betting that catching little critters and a spot of fish-trapping , egg-collecting etc will get you outta there long before a botany-identification expedition will!

French Govt. Wants to Inject Domain Blocking Lists Directly Into Web Browsers

A coordinated effort to associate online piracy with malware, identity theft and banking fraud, is well underway. As a result, legislation beyond copyright infringement is likely to play a key role in tackling piracy moving forward. The French government’s current plan for tackling online harms envisions state-operated domain blocking lists being injected directly into web browsers to prevent fraud. It’s a well-intentioned move but will not stop there.

“In a well-intentioned yet dangerous move to fight online fraud, France is on the verge of forcing browsers to create a dystopian technical capability,” Mozilla reported this week.

“Article 6 (para II and III) of the SREN Bill [below, translated] would force browser providers to create the means to mandatorily block websites present on a government provided list.”

Now to check stores! Yep, no-one has them.
eg Ariston MWA33B got rave reviews but you can’t buy it anywhere!
Why is it that manufacturers produce a great product that people love, then they discontinue it?

Living in a Coup with Massive Election Rigging & War

Legendary financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong was forecasting “chaos” in 2023, and that’s exactly what we got. His cycle work says don’t look for it to get better anytime soon. Armstrong explains, “We are in the midst of a coup. We have all these people who have been neocons for 30 years. Even Ron Paul said recently that the neocons have been waging war for 30 years and have not won a one single one. This is what they live for. Look at the clip of Lindsey Graham saying this is the best money we ever spent killing Russians. How can you take pleasure in that statement that this is the best money we ever spent killing Russians. This is not defense. These are the words of a psychopath in my mind. . . . They are not about to accept anybody who is going to be against war. The neocons are in full control of the government—period. We are living in the time of a coup. The United States is not the free country you thought it was. . . .”

Armstrong also predicts that the neocons will rig the 2024 election so Biden (or some other neocon) gets a second term. Is there any way to stop this election rigging and fraud in 2024? Armstrong says, “I don’t believe so. Our computers show that holy hell breaks loose starting in 2025. I think the problem will be the cheating will be in everybody’s face this time.”

Armstrong also says the neocons will try to start a war before the 2024 election so Biden will win because a wartime president has never lost an election. Armstrong says the cheating will be necessary because the real poll numbers for Biden are in the single digits and not the 40% approval ratings the Lying Legacy Media tells you. Armstrong contends Biden’s approval number is still stuck at 9.5% with his deadly accurate Socrates computer program, but the big reason for Biden and his crew to worry is the real inflation number. Armstrong says, “Inflation is subsiding a little bit, but it is basically still over 26%.”

Armstrong says Biden’s approval numbers are so low and inflation is so high that they have to have war with Russia. War is the reason they had to remove Trump out of the White House because Trump was against constant war. Armstrong adds, “No way they are going to allow a free election. It you think the CIA cannot rig the vote, I don’t know what planet you live on.”

The common retort is there’s no evidence. Actually as this article shows there is a mountain of evidence- and it’s irrefutable. This clearly shows it was done electronically. It’s not from getting out the votes (ballot harvesting). Which means that Republicans voting by mail and early will make no difference in 24. Anybody who believes that Biden got tens of millions of additional votes from mail in voting is not thinking clearly or is completely innumerate.

        From the article:

The plots for the swing states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Georgia all exhibit PID controlled (computer algorithm program) behavior. All settled into a Trump-to-Biden ratio that would have resulted in a Trump victory. Then the swing states “stopped counting.” When they started counting again, they were approaching a new set point – one that would result in the swing states going to Biden.

In simple terms, after Florida and Texas were called for Trump, it is believed that all the votes in the national Scytl-Edison ENR system were pulled and reset back to zero. It took almost two days to put those same votes back in the system. Prior to 10 pm, when all the swing states decided to “stop counting,” Trump was in the lead. After the Edison Zero and re-insertion of votes that had supposedly already been counted, Biden lept ahead and stayed there until the end of “counting.”

Several experts in election analysis circles believe that Florida and Texas were originally slated to go to Biden, but when Trump received more support than expected, “Plan B” was deployed. This required seven smaller states to: (1) stop counting, (2) recalculate the algorithms, (3) reboot the ENR system, and (4) retabulate the votes in different percentages to give the election to Biden.

        It was premeditated fraud:

To make it seem normal and expected, “Plan B” was floated out to the public a few days before the election by Bernie Sanders on late night television when he made an exact prediction of which states would stop counting at 10 pm:

        It was wide spread:

More evidence that the ENR is controlled by an algorithm was discovered by Jeff O’Donnell in some county-level ENR data that was reported by Scytl-Edison on election night in Chester and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania; Fulton, Macomb, and Bibb Counties in Georgia; and Chatham and Surry Counties in North Carolina.

The exact same behavior in the Trump to Biden ratio was found in the ENR in every state.

Can we ease up on all the speculation about the next presidential election. The result has nothing to do with the population democratic vote which means polls predicting that result are meaningless.

The actual election is just a sham so Americans can pretend they have something to do with the process. They don’t. The actual result is decided by the secret vote of small, secret committees in each state, collectively known as The Electoral College.

Kim posted a comment this morning on yesterday’s thread, I don’t think it got the attention it deserved.
I have only read the article and will read the actual 44 page document from the Whitehouse. (Bottom link)

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Congressionally-Mandated-Report-on-Solar-Radiation-Modification.pdf

“The fact that this report even exists is probably the most consequential component of this release,” said Shuchi Talati, the executive director of the Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering, a nonprofit that seeks to include developing countries in the debate over solar modification. “This report also signals that the U.S. government is supportive of well-governed research, including outdoor experimentation, which I think is quite significant.”

Another conspiracy theory lost to fact.

    “Bullets vs Arrow Penetration Question”

    https://youtu.be/2_kCqNAp_2c

I’m assuming it is not a trick video.
I reckon the difference in outcome is due to five effects:
    • Depth. There is a shorter depth of wood to go through than the sand in the bag.
    • Kinetic energy threshold of fracture resistance. The tougher material of the sand grains means each sand grain cannot be fractured, not even by the high energy bullet. Whereas the wood fibers can be sheared. Only an intact material can transmit the pressure and support shear forces. The lower energy of the arrow means it is stopped by the multi layers of wood fibers.
    • Compressibility. Compared to stone, the wood is slightly bendable and compressible, so deformation does not travel very far from the wood impact path. The bullet does not spread the load over much wood sideways. It does not recruit more material to spread the energy sideways. Also because the bullet is moving much faster, the pressure wave of the impacted wood does not have time to spread out very far sideways before the bullet has already moved forward and sheared through the fiber. So it passes through the wood.
    • Turning the bullet. The bullet may be able to be turned side-on due to the inhomogeneous and movable sand, which then presents a broader cross section and catches even more sand. The arrow remains straight (and the same crossection) all the way through the bag.
    • High friction building support. When the bullet impacts the sand their only possible reaction is to be pushed. Due to their rounded shape they will tend to go sideways and spread the energy sideways. It accelerates the grains together so quickly that the friction between them rises to the point of inhibiting spreading sideways any further. This creates a cone of supporting structure that spreads out the energy over a large mass of sand (and the bag), which arrests the bullet. That doesn’t happen in the wood because fibers are weaker and snap before they can spread shear forces. The arrow is slow enough to allow sideways movement of sand grains which never stick together, so the support cone is never created.

    How does that sound?

Bullets are low mass high speed projectiles designed to dump their energy into a target upon impact. The barrel rifling imparts spin and stability allowing easy board penetration but energy dissipation prevents passage through the sandbag.
Arrows are higher mass high kinetic energy projectiles designed for penetration. The much lower density sand presents far less of an obstacle than the much higher density wood.

A bit too generic (bullets vs arrows) , depends which bullets. Many are designed specifically not to penetrate, to impart max energy on the target and/or reduce the possibility of injuries beyond the target (think police)

Climate-Friendly Cocktail Recipes Go Light on Ice

For years the hospitality industry has seen diners clamoring for foods that prioritize climate-friendly practices, such as local and seasonal ingredients that are grown or raised with carbon footprints in mind. Yet cocktail culture hasn’t been hit with the same scrutiny. As the American West experiences water scarcity and energy prices remain volatile, the protocol for properly made cocktails doesn’t look sustainable. Is it possible to make satisfying cocktails without so much ice?

The author calls for an “energy-efficient, climate-conscious cocktail movement” that entails room-temperature drinks.

Warm beers for aussies to save the planet? Pitchforks on standby.😆

This is interesting though, and I checked the physics:

As any bartender will tell you, a cocktail flung back and forth over ice inside a shaker gets cold very fast. “The amount of energy you get from melting ice is phenomenal,” Arnold told me. Calculator in hand, he explained that if you shake three and a half ounces of tempered ice for 12 seconds, you’ll generate about 2,000 watts of power on average.

The UK has a number of interconnectors to the EU so that when the unreliables fail they can buy very expensive electricity from Europe – which may come from Coal fired generators, North Sea Gas or Russia ! So much for strategic energy independence and separation from the EU.
The UK has also trialed paying people not to use electricity during peak times. And, is also pushing ‘Smart’ meters that could support dynamic charging and remote control of customers supplies (ON/OFF).
Although the UK currently supports Nuclear, they are at least 10-20 years away from have a viable Nuclear baseline capacity.
See this great site for live status: http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/

Oz has no interconnectors and insufficient Nuclear so on the current trajectory appears stuffed.

    “Sunday morning music”

“One hundred years ago, a 36-year-old Russian composer named Arseny Avraamov climbed on to a specially built tower in Baku, Azerbaijan, then part of the USSR. Surveying the urban landscape before him, he lifted two red flags and began to wave them from side to side. What happened next was one of the most extraordinary musical events of the 20th Century. One which, until recently, remained almost completely forgotten.

The event was the Symphony of Sirens, a musical work incorporating the city of Baku as its orchestra. It was staged on 7 November 1922, to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the October Revolution, and included the entire Caspian flotilla, cannons, locomotives, artillery regiments, hydroplanes, factory sirens, bells, foghorns, brass bands and a massive choir. Avraamov wasn’t just conducting an orchestra, he was conducting a city.”
