Tony Thomas has uncovered a plot in Tasmania to turn our schools into leftist activist assembly lines (more than they already are). Luckily it appears to be so boring, no one is watching. (OK, that’s hardly luck, just a fact of life. Beating people up with propaganda is, by definition, and especially after 30 years, not that exciting.) But Curious Climate Schools is still harming children and teachers too, and wasting the taxes of bus drivers, builders and bakers.
In the end, publicly funded academics are shamelessly exploiting eight year olds. They work on their youthful anxiety and naivete (and their dreadful science education) to create political lobby groups which will help academics get more funding. Vote for Big Government! Vote for Climate Change Grants! Write letters to the M.P. you are too young to vote for! It is disgustingly self serving, though all the Doctors of Climate Trauma would be mortified to hear that. They are saving the world, after all. They are the saints who collect salaries. The prophets on academic pay scales.
It’s just Big Government advertising itself, but disguised as “education”:
The program might be called Curious Climate Schools, but the one emotion no one seems to feel about establishment climate lectures is curious. Video views to watch scientists answering children’s questions on climate change, with no comments allowed, are sometimes as high as… five. (But that last linked video’s only been on Youtube for a year. Maybe next year will be bigger?) Their channel has 197 videos and only 25 subscribers. Gems like “How can we get people to care about climate change” have amassed all of nine views. Looks like they don’t have the answer.
Over the years Tony Thomas has investigated the worst of the crony worst, but this program was so bad it caught him off guard:
…nothing I’ve previously seen can match the onslaught on those from seven upwards by the University of Tasmania (UTas), which helped it gain World No 1 ranking for climate activism.
The brainwashing is evident in Tassie kids’ questions like “How long do we have until the earth becomes uninhabitable?” and “How long before climate change will destroy the earth?”
Its agenda, as I see it, is to turn nervous kids into activists, climate-strikers and future Teal and Greens voters. About 40 per cent of classes’ top ten questions have assumed the need for greater climate “action” for “climate social justice”. Teachers are told to encourage kids to join “different groups working to make the climate safer”. I assume they include the likes of Greenpeace, Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.
When a child asks ” “How do we stop pollution of [by] factories?”” an environmental law professor says “…the only way we could stop their pollution is to actually shut them down. ” It’s Marxism 101.
The damage to children’s mental health is appalling, as a study of their questions showed:
…and thanks to greenist “educators”, kids were fixated (27 per cent) on imaginary “existential” climate threats. Study author Dr Chloe Lucas wrote, “Some 5 per cent of questions implied a doomed planet or doomed humanity—e.g., ‘How long will we be able to survive on our planet if we do nothing to try to slow down/reverse climate change’?’’
The page “What can I do” effectively coaches babies to be political activists, telling them to contact politicians, brands, and businesses, and make climate action plans:

Find your tribe and use your voices! Get together with friends and other students who care about climate action. You could join a group like the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. Collective events such as the school strikes for climate raise awareness

In the search box I asked the most basic of questions: “what percentage of CO2 is made by mankind” and got a page about how to become an activist, a post called “feelings about climate change” and an advert for the UN COP meeting of 18 months ago. Bravo, educators.
Ultimately propaganda and lies are hard to sell
No matter how hard they try, their videos can’t “go viral” because there are no surprises, there’s no rebellion, no risk, no conflict and so there’s no drama and no jokes. There is only the permitted line. If they weren’t pushing a container load of lies — levitating on bluster, they could create drama and interest by interviewing skeptics or even allowing comments. Obviously, they can’t do that.
When you’re selling pagan witchcraft and promising to control the storms as if it were a science, the last thing you can do is let an actual scientist who can talk about their predictions on the show.
They might point out that data is the only thing that matters in science, and the many ways they got it wrong.
My list of failures continues: the hot spot is still missing, the climate models can’t predict the climate on a local, regional, or continental scale, they don’t know why global warming slowed for years, They can’t explain the pause, the cause or the long term historic climate movements either. Measurements of satellites, clouds, 3,000 ocean buoys, 6,000 boreholes, a thousand tide gauges, and 28 million weather balloons can’t find the warming that the models predict. In the oceans, the warming isn’t statistically significant, sea-levels started rising too early, aren’t rising fast enough, aren’t accelerating, nor are warming anywhere near as much as they predicted. Antarctica was supposed to be warming faster than almost anywhere but they were totally wrong. The vast Southern Ocean is cooling not warming. And the only part of Antarctica that’s warming sits on top of a volcano chain they prefer not to tell you about.
No wonder expert climate modelers don’t want their own pensions bet on climate models.
The academics fool themselves with lies
Just for starters, in order to believe that solar panels stop floods, and EV’s reduce droughts, somehow academics must pretend that the climate hasn’t had worse floods, droughts, fires, hotter weather, and bigger blizzards and ice ages since time began. History be damned! They need to forget that CO2 is the molecule of life, used by every scavenging cell on the planet, and desired by every leaf, diatom, and cyanobacterium. The truth is that we don’t know where all our emissions go, (carbon accounting is a joke) but we know biology spent the last half billion years figuring out how to capture our CO2 emissions. The demon molecule, carbon dioxide, is actually a good thing, and life on Earth can’t get enough. God’s joke on climate modelers is that phytoplankton probably plays a much bigger role than vainglorious climate prophets realize.
And more than all that – somehow the professors of climate dystopia have to believe warm blooded mammals don’t like warmth. Global warming saves 166,000 lives a year. Cold kills ten times as many people as heat does, even in cities where people are protected from the elements, and across the world it kills 20 times as many people as the heat does. This is the catastrophe the ivory tower parasites want to save us from?

Some time ago our abc had a program for children at their site called Planetslayer where kids were directed to add up their carbon footprint and as it got larger their image of a pig got bigger and bigger until it exploded. The program has disappeared but not the attitude. Watts kept some part of the Planetslayer obscenity.

Meteorologists can’t even reliably predict the weather for a single town more than 10 days in advance. Everyone knows this, even the most benighted high school dropout knows this. The proof is on the weather channel and local news for them to see every day.

On a related note, the reason that people largely trust meteorologists and don’t trust climate priests is because one group is brutally honest about their limitations and failures while the other is not.
Meteorologists will give you chapter-and-verse on why their models aren’t reliable past 10 days, and won’t try to explain away failed forecasts by telling you not to believe your lying eyes. If they predicted a sunny day and it rains, they won’t try to gaslight you into believing it’s not raining. They’ll admit they fell short.
When was the last time you ever heard a climate priest admit to the limitations of their craft, or accept results that do not fit their hypothesis? They are more interested in ‘hiding the decline’ than in fixing their models to account for reality. Instead, they ‘adjust’ the historical data so that it fits their hypothesis, and try to gaslight people into believing in the High Holy Hockey Stick. Hallelujah!

I think I understand what you mean. But the climate alarmists, while accusing skeptics of not knowing the difference, are constantly pointing to weather events as signs of climate change. Seems like every time there is a tornado or hurricane or flood, they screech, “See? Climate change!” Granted, many of these screwballs are not scientists.
I am 71 and live in the USA Midwest. The climate here was temperate the day I was born, and it remains temperate today. If it were to become tropical or polar, that would be climate change.

They can – IPCC AR5: Multiple lines of evidence indicate a strong, consistent, almost linear relationship between cumulative CO2 emissions and projected global temperature change to the year 2100 in both the RCPs and the wider set of mitigation scenarios analysed in WGIII (Figure SPM.5b).
So there you have it – the models do trillions of calculations, on 20-minute time-slices with Earth’s atmosphere, surface and oceans divided into thousands of cells, and the result is a straight line that can be calculated on the back of an envelope using one and only one input number, namely, cumulative human emissions of CO2 over the next 100 years.

I think the reason some people believe that forecasters can accurately tell us what the weather will be, say, 10 days from now is that by the time that 10th day gets here, nobody remembers what the forecast for it was 10 days ago. It likely will have been revised numerous times as it became the 9th day, the 8th day, and so on. Our local weekly newspaper used to print a 10-day forecast. I would always put it on the refrigerator so I could laugh at it. Most people only remember what the forecasters said about today’s weather yesterday, and much of the time they are pretty close when they predict only 24 hours in advance.

So why was the Eemian Interglacial so much warmer than our Holocene? Co2 levels then were about 280 ppm and today are about 420 + ppm and yet sea levels then were about 6 to 9 metres higher than today in 2024.
Yet during our more recent FULL GLACIATION ( 115 K to 11 K years ago co2 levels dropped to 180 ppm or starvation levels for our plants and thankfully saved by the start of the Holocene warming after 11 K years ago.
And the Holocene optimum was much warmer than today in 2024 and sea levels were still 1.5 metres higher 4 K years ago on our east coast of Australia.

Okay, background first, and then I’ll get to the point.
The light of my life is my granddaughter Savannah. She’s 25 now, and manages a hairdressing salon [snip for privacy concerns] she has been running now for almost three years, and last year, her salon was on the list of five best outets in Australia, and she won Hairdresser of the year for that Company, which now has around 120 outlets here in Oz, so that’s a lot of hairdressers, and a lot of stores as well.
We moved to Rockhampton in 2010 so we could be there as she grew up, knowing that if we stayed here on The Gold Coast, we might only see her for an hour or two on one or two days a year. This way, we got to be there and watch as she grew into what she is now. We (me and her) are so close now. A couple of years back now, I mentioned that she could start calling me Tony. She scoffed at that and replied, “No way, you’ll always be Poppy.”
I taught her to drive over many Months, when she mentioned it was just too harrowing going out with her Mum or Dad, and she just felt ‘comfortable’ with me. I was the designated driver to bring her home from School two or three days a week, with Mum and Dad both working. She’d come home with me and do her homework, more often than not in the same room, me at my computer, and her with her laptop.
Now, she knew what I was doing with renewable power and all that, but her interest was minimal, and I never pushed it, but I was always curious.
Sometime, during her year in Grade 11, (so, she’s now almost 16) same thing, me at the computer and her on the laptop. It took me weeks to think about mentioning it, not wanting to seem in any way ‘pushy’ or to alienate her.
I gently brought up the subject of Climate Change and what may or may not be being taught in her High School.
She stopped what she was doing, looked at me and her response was something I’ll never forget, because it was the first time I ever heard her ‘swear’.
She let out a big ‘humph’ and responded. ….. “Yeah, we’ve been getting a bit of that now we’re in Senior years, but seriously Poppy, no one listens to that ‘$h1t!”
I never asked her again. Gave me a whole new appreciation of young children.
Even today, when I stay with them and the topic of renewable power comes up in general conversation, as it sometimes does, young Savannah gives me the ‘evil eye’, translated to ….. don’t you start Poppy!

I had three daughter, one died in 2017 so I am raising her son, now 8.7, but I am very proud of both girls who were somewhat left a decade ago but are now confirmed conservatives. Neither live close so no brainwashing but they were always taught to think for themselves and do their own research. I am so proud of them. More to the point are their friends who also reject the current madness whether it be climate or gender related. They are in their 40 s so I take great solace in the fact that there are many who are not fooled. The result of the racial division referendum bears this out. A referendum on net zero climate policy and nuclear power would go the same way.

ISO9001 moved one from those days. It’s a good standard nowadays focusing on risk and business process management. No more mandatory procedures, no more belittling of organizations. It still does not directly influence the quality of products but it certainly helps to run a business.
The addition of the climate change clause appears wholly artificial to me and aims at virtue signaling and creating opportunities for more consultation.
