Curious Climate Schools program.

Curious Climate Schools PropagandaTrust us, Kids, We’re Climate ‘Educators’

Tony Thomas has uncovered a plot in Tasmania to turn our schools into leftist activist assembly lines (more than they already are). Luckily it appears to be so boring, no one is watching. (OK, that’s hardly luck, just a fact of life. Beating   people up with propaganda is, by definition, and especially after 30 years, not that exciting.) But Curious Climate Schools is still harming children and teachers too, and wasting the taxes of bus drivers, builders and bakers.

In the end, publicly funded academics are shamelessly exploiting eight year olds. They work on their youthful anxiety and naivete (and their dreadful science education) to create political lobby groups which will help academics get more funding. Vote for Big Government! Vote for Climate Change Grants! Write letters to the M.P. you are too young to vote for! It is disgustingly self serving, though all the Doctors of Climate Trauma would be mortified to hear that. They are saving the world, after all. They are the saints who collect salaries. The prophets on academic pay scales.

It’s just Big Government advertising itself, but disguised as “education”:University of Tasmania, logo. Government cronies.

The program might be called Curious Climate Schools, but the one emotion no one seems to feel about establishment climate lectures is curious. Video views to watch scientists answering children’s questions on climate change, with no comments allowed, are sometimes as high as… five. (But that last linked video’s only been on Youtube for a year. Maybe next year will be bigger?) Their channel has 197 videos and only 25 subscribers. Gems like “How can we get people to care about climate change” have amassed all of nine views.  Looks like they don’t have the answer.

Over the years Tony Thomas has investigated the worst of the crony worst, but this program was so bad it caught him off guard:

nothing I’ve previously seen can match the onslaught on those from seven upwards by the University of Tasmania (UTas), which helped it gain World No 1 ranking for climate activism.

The brainwashing is evident in Tassie kids’ questions like “How long do we have until the earth becomes uninhabitable?” and “How long before climate change will destroy the earth?”

Its agenda, as I see it, is to turn nervous kids into activists, climate-strikers and future Teal and Greens voters. About 40 per cent of classes’ top ten questions have assumed the need for greater climate “action” for “climate social justice”. Teachers are told to encourage kids to join “different groups working to make the climate safer”. I assume they include the likes of Greenpeace, Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.

Teachers, students, propaganda. Crystal balls.

When a child asks ” “How do we stop pollution of [by] factories?”” an environmental law professor says “…the only way we could stop their pollution is to actually shut them down. ” It’s Marxism 101.

The damage to children’s mental health is appalling, as a study of their questions showed:

…and thanks to greenist “educators”, kids were fixated (27 per cent) on imaginary “existential” climate threats. Study author Dr Chloe Lucas wrote, “Some 5 per cent of questions implied a doomed planet or doomed humanity—e.g., ‘How long will we be able to survive on our planet if we do nothing to try to slow down/reverse climate change’?’’

The page “What can I do” effectively coaches babies to be political activists, telling them to contact politicians, brands, and businesses, and make climate action plans:

Talk about climate change! This helps to make climate change discussions and actions a normal part of life, and helps shift the ‘social norm’ so that climate change issues become more prominent in our society.

Find your tribe and use your voices! Get together with friends and other students who care about climate action. You could join a group like the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. Collective events such as the school strikes for climate raise awareness

… could you and your schoolmates become Climate Warriors together?

In the search box I asked the most basic of questions: “what percentage of CO2 is made by mankind” and got a page about how to become an activist, a post called “feelings about climate change” and an advert for the UN COP meeting of 18 months ago. Bravo, educators.

Ultimately propaganda and lies are hard to sell

No matter how hard they try, their videos can’t “go viral” because there are no surprises, there’s no rebellion, no risk, no conflict and so there’s no drama and no jokes. There is only the permitted line. If they weren’t pushing a container load of lies — levitating on bluster, they could create drama and interest by interviewing skeptics or even allowing comments. Obviously, they can’t do that.

When you’re selling pagan witchcraft and promising to control the storms as if it were a science, the last thing you can do is let an actual scientist who can talk about their predictions on the show.

They might point out that data is the only thing that matters in science, and the many ways they got it wrong.

My list of failures continues:  the hot spot is still missing, the climate models can’t predict the climate on a local, regional, or continental scale, they don’t know  why global warming slowed for years, They can’t explain the pause, the cause or the long term historic climate movements either. Measurements of satellites, clouds, 3,000 ocean buoys6,000 boreholes, a thousand tide gauges, and 28 million weather balloons  can’t find the warming that the models predict. In the oceans, the warming isn’t statistically significantsea-levels started rising too early, aren’t rising fast enough, aren’t accelerating, nor are warming anywhere near as much as they predicted. Antarctica was supposed to be warming faster than almost anywhere but they were totally wrong. The vast Southern Ocean is cooling not warming. And the only part of Antarctica that’s warming sits on top of a volcano chain they prefer not to tell you about.

No wonder expert climate modelers don’t want their own pensions bet on climate models.

The academics fool themselves with lies

Just for starters, in order to believe that solar panels stop floods, and EV’s reduce droughts, somehow academics must pretend that the climate hasn’t had worse floods, droughts, fires, hotter weather, and bigger blizzards and ice ages since time began. History be damned! They need to forget that CO2 is the molecule of life, used by every scavenging cell on the planet, and desired by every leaf, diatom, and cyanobacterium.  The truth is that we don’t know where all our emissions go, (carbon accounting is a joke) but we know biology spent the last half billion years figuring out how to capture our CO2 emissions. The demon molecule, carbon dioxide, is actually a good thing, and life on Earth can’t get enough. God’s joke on climate modelers is that  phytoplankton probably plays a much bigger role than vainglorious climate prophets realize.

And more than all that – somehow the professors of climate dystopia have to believe warm blooded mammals don’t like warmth. Global warming saves 166,000 lives a year.  Cold kills ten times as many people as heat does, even in cities where people are protected from the elements, and across the world it kills 20 times as many people as the heat does. This is the catastrophe the ivory tower parasites want to save us from?

There’s obviously no climate emergency at all and Willis Eschenbach has checked all the data and then regularly checks for updates as well.

More evidence that “Climate Change” is a Religion

The idea later proclaimed by the Jesuits is very old — give us a child till he’s 7 and we’ll have him for life.

No need for critical thinking when the “science is settled”.

In fact the Antarctic peninsula has been cooling since 1998 as the Turner Nature, BAS study showed and other studies have since confirmed this as well.
It seems this is just more natural variability and not co2 emissions. Gosh, big surprise NOT.

It’s enough to make you SCREAM!

Flooding the zone with total bo!!ocks from nappies to nigh-nighs: you too can be a Climate Action Hero™… don’t think, act! The End.

A man on the radio spoke of ‘carbon dioxide pollution’ – what’s that?! A book I’m reading on the South Island keeps referring disparagingly to ‘climate change’ – as if it’s never happened before. Telling the truth is now a revolutionary act.

Removing the ability to comment is a great way to ensure people don’t watch YouTube videos.

It shows that the people posting the videos are either totally clueless about one of the key reasons why YouTube works as a platform, or they hate the idea of allowing people to express themselves, or they are really scared of negative feedback.
    Possibly all of the above.

That also is the case for Public Servants who will find out that Permanent doesn’t mean that.

Meteorologists can’t even reliably predict the weather for a single town more than 10 days in advance. Everyone knows this, even the most benighted high school dropout knows this. The proof is on the weather channel and local news for them to see every day.

Expecting people to believe that scientists can reliably predict the chaotic global fluid dynamics of the earth’s atmosphere a hundred YEARS into the future is a bridge too far for anyone with a lick of common sense. All they have to do is look at the last 50 years of failed predictions. The same way they look out their window and see the proof of the limitations of meteorology.

AI has entered BoM and the old stalwarts are attempting to distance themselves, in cyclone direction AI is pretty good.

Its only a matter of time before longer term forecasts become possible, such as the seasonal forecasts, which BoM regularly gets wrong.

“Its only a matter of time before longer term forecasts become possible”

But weather, being a chaotic system, it’s unlikely that it’s possible to do longer term predictions, even in principle.

And for longer term climate predictions, Milankovich Cycles can be accurately predicted but the main driver of climate, our variable star sun, cannot (except the 11/22 year sunspot cycle to a certain extent).

On a related note, the reason that people largely trust meteorologists and don’t trust climate priests is because one group is brutally honest about their limitations and failures while the other is not.

Meteorologists will give you chapter-and-verse on why their models aren’t reliable past 10 days, and won’t try to explain away failed forecasts by telling you not to believe your lying eyes. If they predicted a sunny day and it rains, they won’t try to gaslight you into believing it’s not raining. They’ll admit they fell short.

When was the last time you ever heard a climate priest admit to the limitations of their craft, or accept results that do not fit their hypothesis? They are more interested in ‘hiding the decline’ than in fixing their models to account for reality. Instead, they ‘adjust’ the historical data so that it fits their hypothesis, and try to gaslight people into believing in the High Holy Hockey Stick. Hallelujah!

Comparing weather to climate is the worst argument ever. Surprised anyone still green thumbs this.

I’ll put money where my mouth is. I offer bets of the 2050 equivalent of today’s one million dollars to one, that June 2050 will be cooler than December 2050 in New South Wales.

you know that June is winter and December is summer? Those things are climate, for the uninitiated, and as you will see in 2050, can be predicted much better than weather.

According to the zealots we won’t be able to differentiate between summer and winter, would you take a bet on that? Presumably by 2050 temperatures will be similar to the Holocene thermal max and the world didn’t come to an end on that occasion.

          How enigmatic.

Anyway, here is asimple contrast. The plants and animals that are adapted to their local climate can survive extremes in whatever element outside that. They can’t survive long if that extreme becomes not merely the weather but becomes the climate.

It is totally idiotic to say “someone can’t even predict the weather next weekr, how can we rely on them predicting the climate in 50 years”. It is an unscientific distraction, and besides, the people doing one are not the same people who are doing the other.

I think I understand what you mean. But the climate alarmists, while accusing skeptics of not knowing the difference, are constantly pointing to weather events as signs of climate change. Seems like every time there is a tornado or hurricane or flood, they screech, “See? Climate change!” Granted, many of these screwballs are not scientists.
I am 71 and live in the USA Midwest. The climate here was temperate the day I was born, and it remains temperate today. If it were to become tropical or polar, that would be climate change.

re: “scientists can reliably predict the chaotic global fluid dynamics of the earth’s atmosphere a hundred YEARS into the future”

It’s true. They can – IPCC AR5: Multiple lines of evidence indicate a strong, consistent, almost linear relationship between cumulative CO2 emissions and projected global temperature change to the year 2100 in both the RCPs and the wider set of mitigation scenarios analysed in WGIII (Figure SPM.5b).

So there you have it – the models do trillions of calculations, on 20-minute time-slices with Earth’s atmosphere, surface and oceans divided into thousands of cells, and the result is a straight line that can be calculated on the back of an envelope using one and only one input number, namely, cumulative human emissions of CO2 over the next 100 years.

I think the reason some people believe that forecasters can accurately tell us what the weather will be, say, 10 days from now is that by the time that 10th day gets here, nobody remembers what the forecast for it was 10 days ago. It likely will have been revised numerous times as it became the 9th day, the 8th day, and so on. Our local weekly newspaper used to print a 10-day forecast. I would always put it on the refrigerator so I could laugh at it. Most people only remember what the forecasters said about today’s weather yesterday, and much of the time they are pretty close when they predict only 24 hours in advance.

This is not science. It’s cult indoctrination. Akin to the Hitler Youth.

And in Scotland a new law making calling a man a man illegal as gone into effect on 1st April and it’s not a joke.

But would you employ a doctor or verterinarian who did not know the difference between men and women?

Or a biologist who did not understand the fundamental role of carbon dioxide in all life on earth?

The vilification of carbon dioxide is beyond comprehension let alone science. I can only conclude it’s about the money
and the politics. Educating a new generation of extreme ecologists who hate people and vote Green or Teal.

The image is a bit like David Cameron’s Avatar of wondeful aliens in tune with the planet and rampaging evil humans.
But perhaps his best film was ” “Piranha II: The Spawning” (1982)”

Apparently humans are not children of God, made in his image.
They are the aliens out to destroy the planet. And should be exterminated.

And this is a political message by the rampant Greens starting with devout follower of mass murderer Lenin, Adam Bandt. And Anthony Albanese, follower of Leon Trotsky. Trotsky only differed in that unlike Stalin he believed in international socialism, the export of Marxism, like the UN/EU.

All were admirers of Fascism, the other left wing extremist group who joined forces with big business, as we saw in The Voice.

Gender in the human context was a word used by psychologists for rare self image related problems. Gender was never the same as sex. There are only two sexes.

And the move to make carbon dioxide evil and to make gender the same as sex have a lot in common.

Both attempt to redefine reality with the force of law.

And given that Russia and China proved conclusively at a huge cost in lives that communism did not work to improve the lives of the working classes. A hundred million died. But also that capitalism and consumerism actually worked as in America and Europe.

So the new 1970s idea from French philosophers, Post Modernism was to preserve Marxism and argue everyone is oppressed not by the wealthy or religion but by white male privilege. Everyone else is a victim and the university people just change tack. And in passing, that the world is being destroyed by carbon dioxide created by the rich industrialists. So business as usual for communists/fascists/Trots including Bandt and Albanese and Biden.

If you believe either, you have a problem with reality. As pointed out by John Cleese in 1979 when all this became mainstream at universities.

      190

      • #

And I do wonder whether Cleese and Eric Idle have not been converted to Post Modernism.

And why populism is so bad, as in Trump, Milei, Miloni, Le Pen, Orban, Abbott. Boris Johnson was on the list until he married an extreme Green and became unpopular overnight. Tony Abbott was defenestrated by his own party and Turnbull’s Liberals, partnered with the Greens.

Populism is portrayed as a dirty word, because it is a threat to authoritarians. As Recep Erdogan found out in the last municipal elections, if you rule for yourself and not for the people, even if you control all the media eventually the people will work it out. The tragedy is that it can take so long for them to work it out – witness Daniel Andrews – and also that a leader who controls everything can’t be voted out – witness Vladimir Putin.

So why was the Eemian Interglacial so much warmer than our Holocene? Co2 levels then were about 280 ppm and today are about 420 + ppm and yet sea levels then were about 6 to 9 metres higher than today in 2024.
Yet during our more recent FULL GLACIATION ( 115 K to 11 K years ago co2 levels dropped to 180 ppm or starvation levels for our plants and thankfully saved by the start of the Holocene warming after 11 K years ago.
And the Holocene optimum was much warmer than today in 2024 and sea levels were still 1.5 metres higher 4 K years ago on our east coast of Australia.
We can check the facts and do the Co2 Coalition quiz at the link. What a pity the kids are not linked to this site to try the quiz.

The real question is why don’t ‘boiling seas’ mean an increase in CO2 given 98% of CO2 gas is dissolved in the ocean?

This is the one issue avoided by the CO2 Coalition who still claim the increase in CO2 is man made because there is no other explanation. Really? I try not to be critical of such great work, but I would be surprised if CO2 did not go up with increasing ocean surface temperature! A rational for CO2 staying constant does not exist.

The last Eemian interglacial was much warmer than our Holocene and much warmer than today in 2024. And Hippos swam in the Thames and the Rhine. Here’s a link to the Wiki article and a quote.

Note also that forests grew a lot further north during the Eemian and far above the Arctic circle where only tundra exists today in 2024. Will we ever learn to THINK?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Interglacial

” The warmest peak of the Last Interglacial was around 125,000 years ago, when forests reached as far north as North Cape, Norway (which is now tundra) well above the Arctic Circle at 71°10′21″N 25°47′40″E. Hardwood trees such as hazel and oak grew as far north as Oulu, Finland. At the peak of the Last Interglacial, the Northern Hemisphere winters were generally warmer and wetter than now, though some areas were actually slightly cooler than today. The hippopotamus was distributed as far north as the rivers Rhine and Thames”.

There are two Tasmanias, as Tony Thomas points out, the most overgoverned people in the world.

I would add that half are public servants who occupy Hobart and administer the rest.
The rest are hard working farmers and manufacturers and fisherman. It’s a sharp divide.

In Washington DC 98.4% vote Democrat. You have to conclude that no one who votes Republic is allowed to work in the public service in the US. Or Liberal in Tasmania.

So government funded lying to children is part of the communist/fascist agenda. Fascism is communism in league with big business, as we saw with Albanese and The Voice. Albanese could have legislated The Voice. But he wanted the constitution changed and obviously could not care less about real aboriginal welfare. Nor does these Climate warriors care about the planet.

Suicide cults are a manifestation of the religious mind.

Heaven’s Gate was an American new religious movement known primarily for the mass suicides committed by its members in 1997. Commonly designated a cult, it was founded in 1974 and led by Bonnie Nettles (1927–1985) and Marshall Applewhite (1931–1997), known within the movement as Ti and Do, respectively.

Scholars have described the theology of Heaven’s Gate as a mixture of Christian millenarianism, New Age, and ufology, and as such it has been characterized as a UFO religion.

The central belief of the group was that followers could transform themselves into immortal extraterrestrial beings by rejecting their human nature, and they would ascend to heaven, referred to as the “Next Level” or “The Evolutionary Level Above Human”.

A solar panel factory to be built on the site of a former coal-fired power station

The factory will need lots of reliable energy so siting next to Bayswater is wise or maybe they are predicting a nuke nearby.

Ah, the good ol’ days… Tariffs of 50% on Chinese solar panels as they come over the wharf, 25% subsidies to the mates who own the Australian solar panel factories, and the Govt keeps the rest. Meanwhile the public pay more for shoddy goods made by bored over-paid unionists who couldn’t care less about quality control.

So ruinables have knocked us back to the 1950s it seems, how much further back do we go?

The odd thing is, that there is no rebuttal of the science, but according to this post, the established science should not be passed on to the next generation. Like most arguments, this is in the playbook of the formally pro smoking lobby known as the Heartland Institute (note: the web page linked is one of their offshoots).

‘Although it makes up such a tiny proportion of our atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – also called a ‘greenhouse gas’ – is responsible for most of this warming effect.’

That is patently false, however water vapour in the stratosphere is a genuine greenhouse gas.

Okay, background first, and then I’ll get to the point.

The light of my life is my granddaughter Savannah. She’s 25 now, and manages a hairdressing salon [snip for privacy concerns] she has been running now for almost three years, and last year, her salon was on the list of five best outets in Australia, and she won Hairdresser of the year for that Company, which now has around 120 outlets here in Oz, so that’s a lot of hairdressers, and a lot of stores as well.

We moved to Rockhampton in 2010 so we could be there as she grew up, knowing that if we stayed here on The Gold Coast, we might only see her for an hour or two on one or two days a year. This way, we got to be there and watch as she grew into what she is now. We (me and her) are so close now. A couple of years back now, I mentioned that she could start calling me Tony. She scoffed at that and replied, “No way, you’ll always be Poppy.”

I taught her to drive over many Months, when she mentioned it was just too harrowing going out with her Mum or Dad, and she just felt ‘comfortable’ with me. I was the designated driver to bring her home from School two or three days a week, with Mum and Dad both working. She’d come home with me and do her homework, more often than not in the same room, me at my computer, and her with her laptop.

Now, she knew what I was doing with renewable power and all that, but her interest was minimal, and I never pushed it, but I was always curious.

Sometime, during her year in Grade 11, (so, she’s now almost 16) same thing, me at the computer and her on the laptop. It took me weeks to think about mentioning it, not wanting to seem in any way ‘pushy’ or to alienate her.

I gently brought up the subject of Climate Change and what may or may not be being taught in her High School.

She stopped what she was doing, looked at me and her response was something I’ll never forget, because it was the first time I ever heard her ‘swear’.

She let out a big ‘humph’ and responded. ….. “Yeah, we’ve been getting a bit of that now we’re in Senior years, but seriously Poppy, no one listens to that ‘$h1t!”

I never asked her again. Gave me a whole new appreciation of young children.

Even today, when I stay with them and the topic of renewable power comes up in general conversation, as it sometimes does, young Savannah gives me the ‘evil eye’, translated to ….. don’t you start Poppy!

    Tony.

[Sweet story Tony sorry about the minor snip]

I had three daughter, one died in 2017 so I am raising her son, now 8.7, but I am very proud of both girls who were somewhat left a decade ago but are now confirmed conservatives. Neither live close so no brainwashing but they were always taught to think for themselves and do their own research. I am so proud of them. More to the point are their friends who also reject the current madness whether it be climate or gender related. They are in their 40 s so I take great solace in the fact that there are many who are not fooled. The result of the racial division referendum bears this out. A referendum on net zero climate policy and nuclear power would go the same way.

According to a recent Essential Poll in the Guardian, half the electorate don’t have a problem with nuclear power generation. More importantly is the shift in sentiment, I count it as a win.

‘The poll found 38% of voters say Australia is not doing enough to combat climate change, the lowest proportion in seven years coming off highs of 62% who said the same in January 2020 at the height of black summer bushfires.’

Now the International Organization for Standardization (ISO, think ISO9001:2015 certification for companies and organizations) has come onboard and has updated the standard and articulated requirements related to climate change.
    See here.

I am guessing that this is another way to make money while increasing overhead for companies.
Here’s the key clause that will be added to the ISO9001:2015 standard:

The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.

Note the use of the word shall, which means that it is mandatory for an organization to take this clause into account. An ISO auditor may ask for evidence collected.

    50

    • #
      KP

Meanwhile it was decades ago that companies buying the products of ISO registered suppliers realised that ISO was just rubbish as usual, all you had to do was have the paperwork in order and they were happy. It was no guarantee of quality at all, just another quango hooked into taxpayer money.

      50

      • #
        Paul

ISO9001 moved one from those days. It’s a good standard nowadays focusing on risk and business process management. No more mandatory procedures, no more belittling of organizations. It still does not directly influence the quality of products but it certainly helps to run a business.
The addition of the climate change clause appears wholly artificial to me and aims at virtue signaling and creating opportunities for more consultation.

    Brainwash ’em young.

New Catan game has overpopulation, pollution, fossil fuels, and clean energy

In Klaus Teuber’s Catan (previously Settlers of Catan), the player is tasked with starting from scratch and building as much as they can: the largest army, the most cities, the best sea ports for easy trading, even the longest road. It’s all beneficial, and the only real drawback is that you have to prioritize certain things over others. There wasn’t direct conflict or battle, but there were scarce resources, and the savviest player could corner the market for them.

Catan was released in 1995. Now, in 2024, Teuber’s son, Benjamin Teuber, is releasing Catan: New Energies, which he developed with his late father. While it is “rooted in classic Catan mechanics of trading, harvesting, and building,” there are some decidedly 2024 issues at play now that the Vikings have settled in for more than a millennia.

As detailed by Benjamin Teuber in a Fast Company interview, New Energies will see players:

Choosing between cheaper fossil fuel power or research-intensive renewables
Limited in resources as pollution grows
Ending the game entirely if pollution hits a certain level
Countering pollution with “green tokens” from renewable building
Dealing with the effects worldwide climate change exacts on smaller islands
Realizing that “As in real life, the most sustainable player does not always win.”

The Romans introduced winemaking to the UK, in a period with a relatively warm climate {The Roman Warm Period}. Their vineyards were as far north as Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire, with others in Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire, and probably many other sites.

The invading Normans certainly planted them and the Domesday Books of 1086 and 1087 record 45, some attached to monasteries, others owned by the King and his nobles. In the Middle Ages, vineyards were cultivated by the clergy in a variety of places and the Archbishop of Canterbury was a noted vineyard owner.

Wine production across Europe prior to the Little Ice Age was much different than today. Evidence shows that during the warmer centuries before the Little Ice Age, grapes were cultivated, and wine was produced in northern parts of Europe.

For instance, we have known for centuries that the Vikings who terrorized much of Europe between the eighth and tenth centuries were fond of alcohol, wine included. It now seems clear that they didn’t just rob it from their victims in France. They also produced it themselves.

In recent years, studies have revealed evidence of grape cultivation in Denmark, Norway, and Scandinavia.

With the worst of the Little Ice Age in the second half of the sixteenth and into the seventeenth centuries, declining temperatures wiped out England’s wine industry.

So what is wrong with a little global warming returning us to the Roman Warm Period 200 {BCE to 150 CE} and the Medieval Warm Period{c. 950 to c. 1250}?

Unseasonal weather delivers smallest vintage in a generation
    July 11, 2023
    By Rachel White
Released today, Wine Australia’s National Vintage Report 2023 estimates the Australian winegrape vintage to be 1.32 million tonnes, 26 per cent below the 10-year average and the lowest recorded since 2000.

Weather conditions this year were widely reported to be the most challenging for winegrowers in 20 years, with a third consecutive La Niña event producing the wettest year since 2011 and the coolest year since 2012.

I back the cockroaches to survive

The 2008 film Wall-E depicted Earth as a post-apocalyptic wasteland with nothing on it but the abandoned remnants of human society and a forlorn, trash-compacting robot. The titular robot’s only living company is a surprisingly adorable pet cockroach named Hal, Pixar’s nod to the popular myth that cockroaches will outlive us all.
