When the Egyptian antiquities inspector responsible for the area of Giza, Mohamed Zaky Nour, the civil engineer who was in charge of cleaning up the area of the Pyramids of Giza, Kamal el Malakh, and the supervisor of the cleaning process of the area, Doctor Abdel Men’em Aboubakr were finishing their work at the pyramids, they found what seemed to be a wall made out of limestone. After a lot of digging in the ground, they reached the bottom of the wall and found 42 pieces of rock that were divided into two groups to protect them against any outer dangers or harm. On 26 May 1954, the nozzle of the hole where the pieces of the solar boat were opened and everybody who was there smelled the distinctive scent of the cedar wood.[4] The ship was disassembled around the funeral rites into 1224 small pieces before being buried near the pyramids in the boat pit. The ship was fully re-assembled in 1968.[4][1]
The stones were holding down this magnificent ship that was dismantled. Some of the ropes still had moisture embedded.

The USAF and DARPA started conducting X-62A test flights under AI control in December 2022, logging 17 hours by the time we first learned of the program in early 2023. Although DARPA’s AI agent flew the X-62A, there was always a pair of human pilots onboard to monitor the test flight and, if necessary, take control. But in those early tests, the X-62A flew against simulated adversaries.
By September 2023, the program had completed 21 test flights, including the first-ever AI versus human aerial engagement within visual range, flying against a human-piloted F-16. During that time, DARPA says the team made over 100,000 lines of flight-critical software changes, which it called “an unprecedented rate of development.”
That’s certainly an achievement, but just focusing on the dogfight is a mistake, according to Gray. “That misses the point. Dogfighting was the problem to solve so we could start testing autonomous artificial intelligence systems in the air, but every lesson we’re learning applies to every task we can give to an autonomous system,” he said.

The data I have found is low resolution of about 1000 years between data points.

Presumably such a ban would include the current version of the solar hot water system I have. As well as panels on the roof, the system has an instantaneous gas heater, for the times that the sun doesn’t shine. As well the system has two electrical connections, one for a pump to send water through the panels to stop water freezing in the panels when the weather is cold (every year) and one for the gas heater. Back in the old days the gas heater would have had a gas pilot light.
I didn’t have the system installed, it came with the house.
So what would happen to such a system on a cold night if there was no electricity?
An observation is that the system wastes water all year. If the sun is shining the pipes are full of hot water, so it seems to take forever for the water to cool down enough for a shower. When the sun isn’t shining, it takes a while for the “instantaneous” gas heater to kick in and start providing hot water.

Likely it’s not a mains pressure system. With no electric power there may not be any mixing and the delivery would depend on gravity feed. The bottom of the tank would be regulated to a maximum of 60 Celsius but the top is not regulated so it could be well above 60 degreeC.

Mr Bowen (the other half of Dumb and Dumber) believes that a “Big Battery” rated at 2 GW can replace a 2 GW coal power station.
However, such batteries can only provide around 8 GWh of energy before they need to be recharged (assuming a full discharge cycle).
A long way short of the energy that can be provided by a coal fired power station of a rated capacity of 2 GW
Such gross ignorance is leading Australia into economic disaster and we are not alone.

We keep seeing ads on TV from a large international business that provides home solar batteries along with other things. The ads are about a recall of home solar batteries.
What of all the other suppliers of home solar batteries? Do they not have similar problems?

The adds are refering to batterypacks that use a particular batch(s) of LG manufactured cells that have been shown to have a manufacturing defect which could lead to failure and fire .
Those cells have been used in batteries with various retail brand names other than the main LG models.
Many of the other battery brands ( eg ..Tesla, BYD, etc etc) use different cell chemistry and construction which has not shown the tendency to fail at the same unaccepable rate.

If the general thesis is that China is suffering lower than average prices, then seems like an excellent time for foreign tourists. Just read your recommendation Old Ozzie & had a huge laugh. Husband & I have travelled to most of the corners of the globe. Husband is a good driver & mechanically minded so that has mostly involved rental cars – even in the most inhospitable regions.
A few years ago – pre Covid we noticed a short China deal as you mentioned & decided to chance it. I had been to China a few times before, but husband hadn’t been for a few years & was keen to see Beijing as for some reason he hadn’t passed through.
What a disaster the short, cheap trip proved to be! Through no fault of our own we missed our connecting flight from HK to Beijing & finally arrived there in the early hours of the morning with no expected guide to meet us. When finally collected several hours later, with no sleep, we were informed we were to start an immediate tour!
Our group proved to be full of Canberra public servants who refused to criticise any slack and disgraceful practices of the company. It was a nightmare trip. You get what you pay for mostly, & it was the trip from hell, overall.

I know….it’s very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kids “The Green Revolution” science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacation in Bali getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your 50 cent light bulbs with $10.00 light bulbs….. well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.
The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth’s atmosphere in just four days – yes, FOUR DAYS – by that volcano in Iceland which has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time – EVERY DAY.
I don’t really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth.
Yes, folks, Mt. Pinatubo was active for over one year – think about it.
Of course, I shouldn’t spoil this ‘touchy-feely tree-hugging’ moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which keeps happening despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.
And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud, but the fact of the matter is that the bush fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year. Just remember that your government just tried to impose a whopping carbon tax on you, on the basis of the bogus ‘human-caused’ climate-change scenario.
Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention ‘Global Warming’ anymore, but just “Climate Change” – you know why?
It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century and these global warming bull**** artists got caught with their pants down. And, just keep in mind that you might yet be stuck with an Emissions Trading Scheme – that whopping new tax – imposed on you that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer.
It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting, that’s for sure.

A Dutch man with the longest case of COVID infection ever recorded suffered from the sickness for a record 613 days, with the ailment mutating into a unique new variant that baffled medical researchers.
The 72-year-old unnamed patient was diagnosed with the omicron variant in February 2022, according to Time, citing research from the University of Amsterdam.
It is the longest time anyone has been infected with the virus, researchers said.
The patient, who had already been suffering from a blood disease before contracting COVID, immune system failed to produce enough white blood cells or antibodies to combat the virus despite receiving the vaccine multiple times.

A growing number of Australia’s most beautiful natural environments are being closed off to the public for opaque cultural heritage reasons, with one commentator labelling it a “crazy” trend that’s creating “bad vibes” between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
In NSW, the four-year closure of Mount Warning in the Northern Rivers region’s Wollumbin National Park has been a long-simmering controversy.
The breathtaking mountain, which once attracted more than 100,000 people a year, was initially closed to the public amid Covid restrictions in 2020 and in 2021, the local Aboriginal owners requested the track be closed permanently.
The Wollumbin Aboriginal Place Management plan stated that the mountain was considered a “men’s site” and that the “sanctity” of Wollumbin Aboriginal Place “may also manifest physically”, making people sick or putting women in “physical danger”.

In the mid 1970s one of our corporate lawyers and I submitted words re the proposal to make a huge Kakadu park. Among those words, we repeated that the greens wanted to lock people out. Also, that parks are their own enemy if they attract crowds – crowds destroy.
In the event, they created Kakadu over our mineral exploration licences, no compensation to us. One of the first visible acts was hundreds of signs saying, in effect, no unauthorised access. It is just so dumb, when new laws are made by city folk who have little idea of what they do.
