Please Watch and Share “Juice: Power, Politics, and The Grid” by Robert Bryce

Most of what Robert Bryce covers in his new documentary Juice won’t be news to you if you’re a regular reader of this blog. However, it is exactly the tool we need to bring everyone else into the fold.

It’s gripping, well produced, and covers a ton of ground in short, extremely digestible, 20 minute episodes. In 5 parts (so about an hour and a half total), Bryce and director/producer Tyson Culver cover: how the energy market developed; where we are now; the politics and profits driving decisions; why solar/wind energy will never work; and hope for a possible nuclear renaissance. And they do it all without ever getting too technical for the average viewer.

      Is it really flannery?

      Flannery /flan- er- ee/
      noun
      1. Intense rainfall falling on flooded ground.
      2. Not to be confused with rain that falls over oceans and permanent waterways.
      3. There is no universal measurement for flanneries. It is the result of intense and sustained or frequent rainfall.

The UK High Court has confirmed that a public hearing will take place on Tuesday 20 February and Wednesday 21 February 2024. The two-day hearing may be the final chance for Julian Assange to prevent his extradition to the United States. If extradited, Julian faces a sentence of 175 years for exposing war crimes committed by the United States in the Afghan and Iraq wars.

by Jason Gale: (Bloomberg) — Vaccines that protect against severe illness, death and lingering long Covid symptoms from a coronavirus infection were linked to small increases in neurological, blood, and heart-related conditions in the largest global vaccine safety study to date.

The rare events — identified early in the pandemic — included a higher risk of heart-related inflammation from mRNA shots made by Pfizer Inc., BioNTech SE, and Moderna Inc., and an increased risk of a type of blood clot in the brain after immunization with viral-vector vaccines such as the one developed by the University of Oxford and made by AstraZeneca Plc.

As a notable commenter here recently explained, there was no ‘Great Reset’, it was all just talk.
Billionaires, powerful corporate CEOs, up and coming politicians, and celebrities just chatting.
Of course, any assertion otherwise is, you know … a theory.

Fun fact … one, ah, ‘adjustment’ that could be important …
is that vaccine mandates ‘adjusted’ the profile of military, police, and medical personnel, across the the Western world.

The folk that declined vaccine mandates, are likely the types that would tend refuse unlawful orders.
    Like in the future.
If something, that we can’t even think of, should unexpectedly and unpredictably, come up.
That might involve door locks and Resilience Centers.
    Or MAID.
So I think militaries, police, and medical staffs are much more ‘professional’ as a result.

Forgive me, I am expressing an opinion without a private jet and an invitation to Davos.
For recreational and entertainment purpose only.

‘Safe and Effective’: Covid Booster Shots Cause Heart Failure in Young Adults, Top Study Confirms

A new peer-reviewed study has confirmed that Covid mRNA “booster” shots are causing heart failure to soar in young adults and teenagers.

The study, published in the world-renowned European Heart Journal on February 15, found that a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna injections is directly linked to the “increased incidence rate of myocarditis.”

According to the new study, using data from several Nordic nations, researchers evaluated the risk of myocarditis among 12- to 39-year-olds after receiving COVID-19 mRNA booster vaccination.

The study analyzed data from 8.9 million young adults from four nations: Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

In total, 1,533 cases of myocarditis were identified, which the researchers noted were all caused by the mRNA boosters.

The study concluded that the “booster dose is associated with increased myocarditis risk in adolescents and young adults.”

Been driving a lot in my region lately and seeing lots of scenery. Here we are at the tail end of February and the hills havent fully browned off. The green tinge remains and roadside grass is green where normally it would all be dry and waiting to burn. That hotter drier season that went down the memory hole has certainly passed us by.

The good news is (at the risk of starting a mower thread) our boggy area has finally dried out and I can mow everywhere now. With so much water in the system i am still mowing every couple of weeks in peak summer.

Melbourne had summer last week. There were three consecutive days over 30C or almost three.

Most of Australia has enough atmospheric water to support convective instability. Lots of water no flooding into the interior. Birdsville is now cut off by road. Similar conditions to 1974/75. I wonder if Brisbane will flood again this year.

In Melbourne, the last few days have started with low level condensing cloud that gets burnt off by around 1000. It means it takes a while to get the full intensity of the sun and, now in mid February, the sun is already losing its bite.

The forecast is for another day of summer on Thursday.

I think WA got close to a normal summer this year.

Australia is 500 years into a 10,000 year cooling trend. But warmer winters and milder summers. But there is a lot of water in the Southern Hemisphere and a big ship to turn so the cooling trend is only apparent in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean

I think Perth summer this year is way hotter than normal. But whether it ends up with more hot days in the high 30s, compared to the long heatwaves of the mid-1970s, remains to be seen.

The Northern Hemisphere is 500 years into a 10,000 year trend of increasing sunlight. The land will continue to warm until the ice advances south and down again. I put that at almost 200 years away.

Europe, UK, Canada, Russia etc will warm by atlas 4C on average before the ice starts accumulating and the oceans start to fall again.

The climate prognosticators are so blinded by the funding that comes with demonising CO2 that they have not looked at history to understand how glaciation starts. Many new snowfall records again this NH winter.

        30

      • #

I have found that the land solar energy anomaly correlates quite well with the surface temperature anamolay:
        https://1drv.ms/i/s!Aq1iAj8Yo7jNh0Nr7yx3w1k6KaxO?e=2IhfdC

The warming trend of the land is accelerating slightly because the peak sun has only started to shift northward. That, combine with the much greater proportion of land in the NH compared with the SH means the land is warming up. Oceans are temperature limited to 30C. But they also warm the land when the land temperature drops lower than the nearby ocean temperature. So ocean act as a memory thermometer but cannot sustain above 30C.

Only about 10% of the NH oceans are hitting the 30C limit in September so they can get a lot warmer yet.

It also explains why Antarctica and the Southern Ocean are cooling because the energy anomaly in the SH is declining. Just not much land to reflect that change.

I would like a graph back to the early 19th century

Without going to JPL ephemeris data, I can go back to 1500. It takes a bit of time to run the insolation through months by latitude so it helps if you specify a time range. It takes about 1 hour to run 100 years.

It is also better to specify a baseline say 22 years before the data you really want. That captures two Jupiter orbits and ensures a good anamloud trend for the period of interest.

Traning as an electrical engineer; then a very expensive education in private industry to make good engineering decisions for my various employers; curiosity and the availability of historical information on the web. Also, there is good evidence that there are cycles of glaciation interspersed with 10k to 15k interglacial periods. The NH is currently in an integral;acial and has just started the journey back into glaciation.

Climate models are useful as well because nothing works like they think it works. So looking for their fundamental flaws helps hone my own thinking.

Migrant Crime Turning Cities Into War Zones, Time to Clean House

Criminals posing as asylum seekers are turning American cities into war zones.

The Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, feared for how it tortures its victims, is setting up business in New York City, police sources reveal.

Gang members recruit migrants from shelters and as they come off buses from Texas, putting then to work in retail theft rings or on mopeds, grabbing phones and handbags and roughing up pedestrians.

“This is organized crime. It’s just like the Mafia,” says Paul DiGiacomo, president of the NYC Detectives’ Endowment Association.

Two-man teams snatch pedestrians’ phones and deliver them to Tren de Aragua stash houses, where professional hackers make fraudulent banking transactions and drain cash from all accounts. Then, the phones are wiped clean and shipped to South America for resale.

Criminals posing as asylum seekers are turning American cities into war zones

      .

New York is focused entirely on preventing Trump from becoming President again. No time to worry about making New York inhabitable.

New York is infested with the criminally deluded. It was only a matter of time before the crime becomes overt again.

New York will evolve safe enclaves with gated entry and armed security forces to protect them.

Three decades ago, was the first time I experienced automatic central locking in a car. It was in Johabnnesburg. Car jacking was rife and it was standard practice to lock the doors as soon as you set off; but the more expensive cars did it automatically. The shop foreman at a small factory I visited had a company ute so he could do out of hours calls. He lived in a small permanent house in Soweto. The ute had been stolen four times. He had learnt not to confront theives with four bullet wounds to show for the first time he tried. So the ute was really a liability rather than a perk of his senior position.

The other aspect about South Africa were the walled and gated communities. These were 4m high walls with razor wire on top. A serious impediment to casual theft. These gated communities will become the norm in places like NY and LA so the wealthy can avoid the mess they have created.

I was appalled when I saw the Jo’burg suburbs for the first time, back in 2004 or thereabouts. You’re right about the walls, gates and razorwire, but don’t forget the very visible armed security guards that roam around in utes, bristling with automatic weapons. Then there were the steel front doors on every house, mesh on every window and ‘safe rooms’ inside the houses, behind yet another steel door. The guy I was visiting had a better CCTV system than most prisons or banks. I couldn’t live that way but, then again, the folks in those suburbs didn’t want to either – they simply had no choice. Of course many of them have since escaped overseas. I meet many Seth Efricans here in QLD but they talk of a much bigger expat community over in WA.

There are other aspects you can expect here too Rick- The way shops are laid out in Aussie makes shoplifting easy, as the big chains are complaining about now. We could learn a lot from the RSA about personal security, and how not to have two cars stolen and the cops say “its not the regular guy, he’s inside”.

Burglar bars on the windows will become a trend I’m sure, alarms are just ignored now, and it won’t be long before copper wire gets stolen from these out-of-the-way renewable sites.

If anyone has time, please look into this a bit deeper.

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-02-17/ziga-dorkic-solar-powered-van/103472376

I have a gut feeling that some journalist got taken for a ride.

Those solar cells on the side look fake to me, and his story of getting random LiPo cells out of power tools and linking them all up sounds extremely difficult and dangerous.

Also, ride-on electric mowers have not been around all that long and he claims to have collected second-hand motors when he was building it 10 years ago. That would require that the motors came from new ride on mowers built approx 20 years ago, because those mowers are not cheap and people wouldn’t be scrapping them so quickly.

If you count the 8th photo down from the top of the article, you can see under the bonnet what looks a lot like alternators, with extra heatsinks glued to the outside. That’s a very weird configuration and I have never heard that automotive alternators can be run in reverse as motors … not saying it’s impossible but sure makes me think this could be a hoax.

    Your mileage may vary!!! 🙂

… anyhow here is another article on the same van from two years ago. Note that subtle details of the story are different.

      This still bugs me.

I looked at the second photo down and near the front wheel arch, and above the black step where the driver gets in … you see what looks like a padlock sticking out.

On this model of van, the fuel inlet is located in that position … but if it’s electric then why lock up your fuel? The padlock is non-standard, normally the van would have a different style of lock that sits flush … but perhaps he wanted more security, or the original was damaged somehow. Anyway … I don’t believe the van is really solar powered electric.

Here’s another bit of evidence … in the video at about 23 seconds from the start, they show the “electric motors” under the bonnet and the belts are spinning. But, on an electric vehicle, why spin the motor when the vehicle is stationary? That would only make sense if an internal combustion engine was ticking away on idle.

I reckon it’s a scam. Dunno if the ABC genuinely fell for it, or gave the old guy a wink and a nod and played along … but it’s a scam.

But the EV zealots just have NO IDEA Full stop! Wouldn’t know a motor when they saw it, let alone a Power plant.
