Back in 2001 our lecturers saw the approval process for SSRIs as a statistical example of “not very ethical behaviour” and my own appraisal of the mechanism left me concerned about the value of boosting serotonin so that it allowed the overstressed neural pathways to keep working.
As I’ve written on several occasions it was analogous to putting more petrol in a car to keep it moving while the real problem, a leaky radiator, was overheating and bringing the engine nearer to seizure.

It was also there where he started his rise as a key player in the ALP’s Labor Left. During his time in student politics, Albanese led a group within Young Labor that was aligned with the left faction’s Hard Left, which maintained “links with broader left-wing groups, such as the Communist Party of Australia, People for Nuclear Disarmament and the African National Congress.
After University Albanese took on a role as a research officer to the then Minister for Local Government and Administrative Services, Tom Uren, who became a mentor to him. In 1989, the position of Assistant General Secretary of the New South Wales branch of the Labor Party became vacant when John Faulkner was elected to the Senate.

The cost of electrity in Australia is now at least twice that of China.
Aluminium smellters consume 9% of the electricity produced in Australia.
They can now only continue to operate with huge taxpayer subsidies. They are paid even when they are not producing aluminium during “brownouts”.
Australian taxpayers have the right to know how large are these subsidies and when are they up for renegotiation as electricty costs continue to rise.
The cost of electricity in Austalia is still around half the cost of electricity in German and UK but must rise to match since our “leaders” are obsessed with the same green wet dreams of the European elites.

The refinery was old – built in 1963. However,, from some press reports, it seems that state govt environmental regulations were making it tougher to run the plant and still make a profit.
I don’t believe electricity costs were a substantial factor – more likely plant age, labour costs and tougher environmental regulations.

Who in their right mind would have any confidence in a “Voting machine”.
All votes should be recorded on paper ballots (using a pen and not a pencil as in Australia) and the paper ballots saved for auditing if necessary.
Machines could be used to read and tabulate the paper ballots with any rejects subject to visual review by scutineers.
Samples of machine read ballots should be hand counted periodicaly to ensure that the machine is counting properly.
I would say that voting machines from the get go were designed to be rigged.

Mark sense card reading has been going reliably for at least 40 years in various TABs and lottery offices. As you say it could be done that way with some controls. But as usual for the US, they fragment everything and create little fiefdoms where rules are bent and ignored to suit the locals and their masters. Alvin Melvin “Tex” Johnston the famous Boeing 747 test pilot never had this problem with the 747.
Johnston is best known for performing a barnstormer-style barrel roll maneuver with Boeing’s pioneering 367-80 jet in a demonstration flight over Lake Washington outside Seattle, on August 7, 1955. Bill Allen, the then-president of Boeing, had invited many aero-space and airline executives to enjoy Seattle’s Seafair aboard his yacht. Allen had asked Johnston to make a fly-by over Seafair to show off Boeing’s new airliner. Johnston performed the barrel roll during the fly-by, reversed course with a chandelle, and performed a second barrel roll on the way back. The following Monday, Allen called Johnston to his office and asked what he thought he was doing, and responded with “I was selling airplanes”. He kept his position as a test pilot, and did not get in legal trouble for his actions.
Boeing certainly sold airplane – ended up selling 1573 of the 747 “Queen of the Skies” over a 55 year production run which ended in 2023.

A barrel roll is a 1G manoeuvre. I suspect the limiting factor is power to weight ratio.
Someone tried a dutch roll in one and lost three engines, ie they fell off.

Lawnmowers and other garden care equipment can still be purchased until stocks run out. Apparently stockists have pre-planned this event and have many full containers.
People can continue to use them but contractors say the less powerful electric engines will add the labour costs. Electric ride on mowers are twice the price. A harder line is proposed in Washington, legislators are considering one years jail time and a $10,000 fine to anyone using the equipment.

The batteries in all the modern lawn mowers are plug in. So batteries can be charged anywhere.
I installed a smoke detector in the garage because I charge a number of different batteries from portable tools in the garage. I have only caused a fire when I charged a small 4S LiPo battery, used in a model boat, without using a BMS. It did burn but not aggressively and was too small to spread the fire.
I do not have any lithium battery on charge if I am not in the house. That includes phones and computer. I do not charge anything over night.
All the power tools, including lawn mowers, use batteries with built in BMS. That affords some level of protection but they are all compact energy sources capable of starting a fire.
I store all my LiPo batteries in a weather sealed box outdoors away from the house. These are the ones that have the highest power density and soft packaging so most prone to mechanical damage.
The smartest approach would be to set up changing in a garden shed that is remote from the house. Something I may eventually get around to doing.

The comparison of the various models indicate that a monkey throwing darts could deliver a better result. In fact the regional temperatures way back in early 1980s are better predictors of regional monthly temperatures now than the climate models. In some regions they have the trend the wrong way.

A widespread Facebook phishing campaign stating, “I can’t believe he is gone. I’m gonna miss him so much,” leads unsuspecting users to a website that steals your Facebook credentials.
This phishing attack is ongoing and widely spread on Facebook through friend’s hacked accounts, as the threat actors build a massive army of stolen accounts for use in further scams on the social media platform.
As the posts come from your friends’ hacked accounts, they look more convincing and trustworthy, leading many to fall for the scam.
The phishing campaign started around a year ago, with Facebook having trouble blocking the posts as they continue to this day. However, when new posts are created and reported, Facebook deactivates the Facebook.com redirect link in the post so that they no longer work.

While IgG4 antibodies may naturally appear in allergies due to repeat immune stimulations with allergens, they are inappropriate for replicating pathogens such as Sars-Cov-2.

71% of drivers consider buying older cars due to data privacy concerns
Data privacy within the automotive industry was analyzed in a recent report by Kaspersky. According to the report, 72% of drivers are uncomfortable with the idea of automakers sharing their data with third parties. Eighty-seven percent of survey participants said automakers should be required to delete their data upon request, and 28% said they have some idea what kind of data their car collects.
Seventy-one percent of drivers even said they would consider buying an older car or one with less technology, in order to protect their privacy and security. More than three-quarters of drivers expressed concern when presented with research findings showing that zero out of 25 researched car brands met the minimum security criteria.
Forty-eight percent said they use either Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, while 33% don’t have it, and 19% have it but choose not to use it. Privacy experts say avoiding these services is one way to prevent data collection. Meanwhile, 20% of drivers said they don’t use Bluetooth in the car. Forty-two percent of those who do use Bluetooth said they choose not to share their phone’s address book with their car.
When asked why they think automakers might be collecting data about them (without being limited to a single answer) half (49.5%) said they think it’s to sell it to advertisers or other third parties, while 40% think it’s to share with insurance companies, 30% think it is for safety, and 27% think it is to provide better customer service. Twelve percent said they don’t know and 8% said they don’t think automakers are collecting their data.
While drivers worried about how their data is handled, 42% of respondents said they’re worried about the car collecting their personal data in the first place. The level of concern was greatest among 18-24 year-olds (52%), compared to just 33% among those 55 and over. Young drivers were also the most likely (81%) to say they would consider buying and older car or one with less technology, in order to protect their privacy.

Mrs Y purchased some Australia Day merch at Coles today. It was interesting to note that not one item had the words Australia Day on it. It had Australia, flag, southern cross, Australia map shapes and that’s it. We have reached a low ebb when retailers think not selling generic items celebrating their own country is somehow virtuous or will placate the woke mob.

That little shop is neither IGA or Spar, nor is it tap and go if you wish to pay cash, as I do most of the time. I have been in there several times lately and used cash each time. I also often use cash in the supermarket the local town, not IGA or Spar either.
I use cash on the occasions I am in Colesworth as often as possible, not that I darken their doors very often.

All independents are supplied via Metcash under many brands, small turnover shops do the Coles, and Woolworths run.
Mine was Friendly Grocer when I brought it, converted to IGA.
I practice what I preach, I support the locals, I use cash and the card goes in the hole in the wall, if it is outside bank hours.
