Wokeness trains young minds to be victims

Someone who knows what life in a poor country and what having children means explains why Woke Culture has gone too far to young people at the Oxford Union.

The only thing Wokeness has to offer in exchange is to brainwash bright minds like you that you are victims and to complain, to protest, to throw soup on paintings.

Konstantine Kisin is a British satirist, author, and commentator who was born and raised in Moscow.

Very clever and very droll. Perhaps he also should have touched a little on fake science and the motives of people who push it.

He does say that, but just not in this video. He’s allowing the students to skip that entire argument, for the sake of showing them that it doesn’t matter anyway.

I hope this is not considered off-topic because it is definitely relevant to the above.

The woke Left always claim they are not “racist”, but keeping poor countries from developing by not allowing them to have access to energy is surely the ultimate racism?

Third World countries lack access to energy because international development agencies and governments won’t (or are extremely reluctant to) fund coal or gas power generation leaving only hydro as real power generation, of which there are few suitable sites. Funding tends to be only for useless virtue signaling projects like wind and solar.

The woke simply have no clue of the suffering in the Third World. The Third World suffers partly due to no or little access to inexpensive or reliable energy, as well as partly due to dysfunctional Leftist governments, a lack of free enterprise, legal systems that don’t properly recognise property rights and contracts etc..

Here is a list of Third World-ish countries that are in receipt of UN Green Climate Funds.

Here’s an example of how Green Climate Funds money is spent for Bangladesh.

This document outlines the gender action plan for project FP190: Climate Investor Two. Gender action plans seek to operationalise the constraints and opportunities for women and men identified during the gender analysis towards fully integrating them into the project design.

Generally, being woke is something that those with too much time and money on their hands can afford to flaunt.

Still at home with mum and dad
Those the State trough in undemanding “jobs”
      Teal independents

      Not off topic at all.

I lived and worked in PNG and the conditions many there live under would shock many here. I can tell you that those who worked for me and who I know were extremely keen for their children to have the best education and best chance at having a better life than them. They would, as this fellow asserts, easily put their childrens future well in front of any ridiculous concepts like climate change.

The answer for PNG and other third world countries is to allow them to develop and use the cheapest possible energy sources. PNG is rich in oil and gas, and if one can overcome the corruption which permeates so many areas of that country then it has plenty of ability to improve.

We need to stop the cargo cult mentality of waiting for China or Australia or others to hand out, and get PNG and other third world countries to move forward under their own steam.

Covid was a perfect example of Western stupidity with a lockdown which badly wrecked the economy whilst doing nothing at all for the locals, all engineered by idiotic “bosses” from Australia who in reality have no idea at all about life in PNG.

Dave, thanks. The ablest and least corruptible politician in PNG over the past few decades was the one-time PM, Sir Mekere Morauta. I met him and talked with him at length after his son’s tragic suicide in 1997. (I was a good friend of his son’s brother James, a brilliant philosopher and really nice bloke I met while doing law. So I was at the funeral and wake.) Sir Mekere was cleaning up the economy and, shock, horror, trying to balance the books – like Cardinal Pell was trying to do at the Vatican. I asked him, “How long do you think you have?” He said “Because of what I’m doing, I’ll be out in six months.” He was dead right. He was ousted six months later. Great man. PNG is a failed state. Bit like Victoria.

The only problem is the wasted TRILLIONS that could have been put to good use on saving a large number of the world’s poor but instead was wasted on the SCAM of zero “carbon”.

Young minds are being wasted and convinced that defacing masterpieces and glueing themselves to roadways will stop climate change while three-quarters of our Earth’s population lives in squalor and uneducated depravity. You can’t let the poor people of this world become rich, with western lifestyles. Who’s going to make all our cheap consumer goods? Imagine the cost of making an iPhone in Australia, retail would be $10 000++. So the wokeanistas want to keep them poor so they, the rich woke Western world can still enjoy cheap, iPhone, TV, fridge, cars, bikes, cheap holidays to Bali( and complain about dirty beaches in a 3rd world country)…ect. I’m ok jack so bad luck,no cheap reliable baseload power stations for you.

Here is a list of solar and wind plant in Ethiopia, a dysfunctional Third World country as we know.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_power_stations_in_Ethiopia?wprov=sfla1

They are building lots of solar and wind plant but they have very little baseload power from proper power stations to back it up.

In fact, the only useful power stations they have are a number of mostly small hydroelectric plant which produce 93.5% of the country’s electricity.

The rest of the power is from one gas power station and a number of small power stations that burn bagasse (biomass from sugar cane).

And all of the above are likely badly mismanaged and off line a lot of the time due to bad management and war, typical of Third World countries.

The wind and solar is just woke virtue signaling useless nonsense. It’s not even suitable for a Third World country, let alone developed countries.

There is a clear pattern to all this.
    The “Powers that Be” are
    – culling the herd with toxic processed food (whilst demonising nutritious food)
    – Destroying our energy systems with a Don Quixote delusion of free energy
    – Poisoning the family unit (no fault divorce)
    – Diluting the population with “diversity”
    – Enthusiastically promoting futile sexual orientations
    – Demonising modern food production which would lead to malnutrition.
    – Futile wars to shore up the military-industrial complex
    – Truth no longer allowed to be told- Logic is spurned- feelings trump history.
    – Dropping educational standards year over year
    – Debasing the music industry to lurid rapid fire imagery with coincidental noise.
    – Changing dictionary definitions to suit propaganda goals (e.g. Pandemic, Vaccine)
    – Inflating the currency with a stock market rigged for the big players to prosper.

There is ZERO justification for any of the above. We should be grateful for
the wonderful progress of science and technology. For example, the modern
smartphones are more powerful than a Cray supercomputer of the 70’s. It is all
    taken for granted.

I dunno … China is pretty darn close to the Techno-Fascist model … with their unquestioning obedience to Emporer Xi and phones that track everything you do.

Russia is a bit more complex, but it ain’t exactly free market utopia either. Both of them strictly control social media and hunt down people for the crime of wrongthink.

Looks like the problem of military takeover seems fairly widespread … at least with a war they can put us up against real enemies instead of fake doomsday scenarios. Not sure if that’s comforting, but it does mean the liars eventually get hauled out.

Every time I hear reasoned argument, the author tacitly accepts Climate Change exists, that CO2 is warming the planet, that there is a real man made problem.

What I never hear from Prof Ian Plimer, Mr Kisin, Bjorn Lomberg, Will Happer or anyone else, is that there is almost zero, under 3% easily measured fossil CO2 in the air.

The remedies for Climate Change all imply we can change atmospheric CO2 levels. How? We cannot. Rather we are told to reduce human ’emissions’ of CO2 even though it doesn’t make the slightest difference to total CO2. Mr Kisin argues that if all of GB sank beneath the waves, it would make 2% difference. It wouldn’t. Even growing trees was supposed to reduce CO2. But it isn’t true. In fact the opposite is true. More CO2 means more trees. Even NASA admits this.

So even if there is a problem somehow with CO2, we can only adapt. But after 35 years of this, no one has even established a problem! So the profiteers of doom just stopped talking about rapid sea level rises and Polar bears and no more snow and melting the Arctic. ‘Extreme events’ is the new bandwagon, a claim which can neither be proven nor disproven. At least the incidence of Hurricanes has dropped substantially, but who really cares? Each hurricane is man made.

This amazing conjecture of man made Extreme Weather comes without explanation, supposedly from computer models which have all been wrong for 35 years and cannot explain what is now the past let alone the future. They cannot predict La Nina! Why should we believe them?

Prove the connection between human activity and CO2 levels first. Over the time of this graph, since 1960 the human population has tripled and car numbers alone have gone up x10 but the graph of CO2 is a straight line from 320ppm to 420ppm! Human emissions have had no effect on world CO2 in the last 60 years. That is self evident and you don’t have to be a scientist to see it.

    281

    • #
      TdeF

If someone can prove there is more than 3% fossil fuel CO2 in the air, I would love to see the proof. Correlation is not causation.

And if someone alleges CO2 causes warming, why not argue that warming increases CO2, which is simple known science called Henry’s Law for dissolved CO2.

      160

    • #
      Annie

I do agree with you on that aspect of his address TdeF but I was very pleased at the fact he could say what he did in the woke hotbed of Oxford.

      130

      • #
        TdeF

Yes, he was very good. It was enjoyable.

The debate was that Woke people are idiotic and a religious belief in Climate Change is mandated to unthinking Woke youth.

He touched on this when his wife had their baby because they were ‘traditional’. Presumably in the fully woke world the men get pregnant. He simply chose Man made Climate Change and Stop Oil, Climate Extinction as simple manifestations of willing indoctrination. He was asking the opposition to laugh at themselves in the debate.

However the way science really works since Rene Descartes is not faith based religion but that you build only on an indisputable rock foundation of fact based evidence and absolute proofs. And if the very first fact is wrong, the house of cards falls down. This is my point.

So I am not disappointed in Mr Kisin at all, but that scientists do not ever challenge the foundation lie that humans control CO2. And even non scientists like Kisin just deal with inane behaviour by people who believe in something which is clearly wrong. Climate Rapture. Australia also has 2% of world ’emissions’, if you don’t count breathing.

My question is who created the CO2 level in 1750 before machines? And while the graphs are structured to 340ppm as the X axis and create a rocketship, the real graph properly scaled is nowhere to be seen on the internet, the graph where 0 CO2 is the X axis and the graph is quite boring. The 50% increase over 250 years looks tiny, inconsequential, likely natural which it is.

The next lies of the IPCC are

        1. that the bulk of CO2 in the entire system, 98% of it in the ocean below 100 metres plays no part in atmospheric CO2 balance.

        2. that the half life for exchange of CO2 is 80 years when it is 5 years. This was known early last century.

        3. that the only explanation for the correlation of CO2 and temperature is that CO2 causes warming when the more obvious and simpler explanation is that warming causes CO2.

But it is bad when an extraordinary science based institution like Oxford University has to be told the belief in man made Climate Change is insane. What do their scientists think? Or are they too scared to offer an opinion?

        140

Woke modern socialists are just following the lead of the National Socialists.

    http://en.friends-against-wind.org/realities/how-renewables-and-the-global-warming-industry-are-literally-hitler

Wind power, using the cost-free wind, can be built on a large scale. Improved technology will in the future make it no more expensive than thermal power. This is technically and economically possible and opens up a quite new life-important type of power generation. The future of wind is no longer small windmills, but very large real power plants. The wind towers must be at least 100 m [330 ft] high, the higher the better, ideally with rotors 100 m [330 ft] in diameter. This kind of high cage mast is already built in the shape of high radio masts.

The surplus electricity from the windmills, situated along the sea coast, will be used for the production of very inexpensive hydrogen.

In 1941, he published the first German-language article on global warming, the title of which translates as The Activity of Man as a Climate Factor.

Why does the skeptical argument fail to gain traction?

Christopher Monckton of Brenchley (wuwt) explains.

‘Climate skepticism has four failings: a lack of elementary professionalism; a tendency to be over-skeptical of both sides of the argument; a striking absence of the intuitive ability of the mathematician, who wanders cheerfully and competently from the concrete to the theoretical and back; and unjustifiable discourtesy towards the scientific labors of fellow-skeptics.

‘Therefore, the skeptical argument – which is, objectively speaking, correct – has gained a lot less traction that it deserves. An interesting instance of all four failings was a 2400-word rebuttal directed at me that was published here recently.’

    50

    • #
      TdeF

Lord Monkton has been a brilliantly argued and thoroughly entertaining skeptic but I would disagree completely with “a tendency to be over-skeptical of both sides of the argument”

Any scientific proposition has to be founded in fact. Only 3% of CO2 is fossil fuel. That’s not skepticism. It’s fact. Everything after that is meaningless. Nothing about carbon on the front page of the Australian is right. We do not control CO2. In science you have to prove what you say and man made CO2 has never been proven. Whether it produces heating or extreme events is a moot point.

      91

      • #

I wonder if Christopher was meaning that we waste a lot of time and resources attacking our own team and getting into petty competitions to strike down other skeptics.

I don’t think he would think disagree at all with skeptics pointing out genuine mistakes of skeptics politely and with goodwill. But we know skeptics frequently turn the cannons of scorn on the friendlies.

It’s as if skeptics are clueless about team dynamics and how important it is to motivate and reward volunteers for effort and bravery. Skeptics are often hit hardest by other skeptics. Desmog etc just sit back and wait to cut n paste the critics (who are sometimes wrong themselves). It’s an unprofessional bun fight.

        70

        • #

          https://wattsupwiththat.com/2023/01/16/why-climate-skepticism-has-not-yet-succeeded/

Indeed, it is exactly the case. Skeptics fire off at skeptics without bothering to contact them first, or quote them accurately. There are one or two skeptical sites that publish this sort of thing without editing or reviewing. It’s fast but unprofessional because it wastes everyone’s time.

So half cocked criticism in an ill-mannered way creates confusion for readers with mistakes, feeds the lazy but well paid believers like DeSmog with ammo and demoralizes the volunteers. This is what Monckton means by “unprofessional”. And he is exactly right. Skeptics are our own worst enemies.

Some will say it’s better to air dirty laundry for everyone to see. I say, a few minutes of editing and a behind the scenes reply is essential in a movement of volunteers. That’s the publishers job. Getting 1000 readers to smell the dirty pointless laundry damages the skeptical movement.

No matter how wrong skeptics are, they deserve the courtesy of a reply before publication, and for a reviewer to spend five minutes deleting out the snide pointless remarks.

How many skeptics are working for nothing purely with the aim of helping out, only to get hit with snark, mistakes and slap downs or worse, ad homs, and accusations they’re in it for money or ego? (Hard to believe but it has happened). Without money to fund skeptics, it’s a major tactical error to not even bother being diplomatic.

Careless unedited blog posts drive other skeptics out of the debate. It’s like vandalism.

How strange, I am not aware of skeptic fighting. So given the claim, it obviously exists. But im a causual observer of climate change material and I haven’t stumbled across it. I don’t read Desmog.

So Im not sure that’s the reason it’s failing. Lack of professionalism I can see is a problem. But other reasons, I dont really know. It’s a good question though.

But if pushed for a primary reason, I’d say it comes down to a battle for the minds of the public, and the educational system brainwashing kids to it has been successful.

It’s a very simple theory, hard to deny to the naive mind. Basically 40 years it has been at work in the classroom, and that correlates pretty well with the time it took to take effect.

It comes down to the ineffective argument people provide against Mann’s hockey stick, even to a child. Either they don’t know the answer themselves or they provide some argument the child dismisses as nonsense, or cant communicate it within 20 seconds, the effective attention span.

Remember Malcolm Roberts on QnA versus Cox the cool scientist. That was very telling. The way Cox threw the graph on an A4 paper at Roberts with utter contempt, mocking him for his stupidity. That one act sums it all up really. And we have never been able to effectively argue that down.

Depends on the time of day.
In lush growth spots the CO2 can range from base level, say 350, up to 1250 during the 24 hr cycle.

Konstantin is wonderful at encapsulating dilemmas and refuting the crap. But even he makes the mistake of playing in front of his own goal. So many do. Some to appease the left stupidly thinking they might listen if you appear to share their concern, most through ignorance. It’s got to stop; the real situation must be told.

He said that even if Britain sank into the sea it would make no difference to global warming, because we contribute so little CO2. More often you hear that any action we take is nugatory in the face of India and China, etc, ramping up coal.

Wrong argument every time. CO2 is not a pollutant, a problem, a threat or an emergency. It is necessary for all life on Earth and the more the better. The whole CO2 angle is scam to impoverish and disorient the people for monetary gain, by sociopaths, and control by psychopaths (a.k.a. the WEF, the UN, the World Bank and many others.)

    20

  • #
    Sonny

Why does the skeptical argument fail to gain traction?

Simple: “saving the world against the evil capitalists ruining the world for monetary gain” is more simple, digestible and compatible with the marxist brainwashing than “saving people from the evil globalists who run the world and secretly want to cull and enslave the population to make the world a more attractive theme park for themselves”.

In other words its all about the attractiveness of the narrative and its ease of acceptance.
Its all too easy to accept the mainstream narrative in which the leaders of the world are lovey-dovey environmentalists, than to accept the truth that they are lying genocidal psychopaths.
