Al Gore’s swimming pool uses the same electricity as six US homes

The National Center for Public Policy Research released a report that tells us Al Gore’s swimming pool uses the same electricity as six average US homes. In kilowatt hours, his house draws a total annual load equivalent to 21 homes — averages 19,241 kWh per month. He probably lives alone now that Tipper and the kids have moved out. This is after he paid $60,000 to add solar panels which provide about 5% of his domestic electricity (Why doesn’t he just go solar, that’d be only $720k, plus batteries).

He owns two other homes.

I would never use this as an ad hom argument to say that man-made global warming crisis is wildly exaggerated (there are plenty of other reasons to say that). Obviously poor Al needs to use more electricity than most people so he can swim in between flights, because he is constantly being attacked in articles like this one:

How Al Gore Fooled The World Into Paying For His Giant Carbon Footprint

…The real reason Al Gore wants you to read his books and go see his movies and even see his lectures isn’t because he is trying to save the Earth from global warming and climate change, but because he’s invested in products that will be successful as long as people are convinced by the climate change scare tactics.

He quotes Andrew Follett in the Daily Caller:

The former vice president’s global warming activism has helped increase his net worth from $700,000 in 2000 to an estimated net worth of $172.5 million by 2015. Gore and the former chief of Goldman Sachs Asset Management made nearly $218 million in profits between 2008 and 2011 from a carbon trading company they co-founded. By 2008, Gore was able to put a whopping $35 million into hedge funds and other investments.

Gore also has a remarkable record of investing in companies right before they get huge grants from the government.

Obviously Gore believes the planet is in a crisis and is doing his best to save it.

From the report:

In powering his home, Gore still greatly outpaces most Americans in energy consumption. The findings were shocking:

• The past year, Gore’s home energy use averaged 19,241 kilowatt hours (kWh) every month, compared to the U.S. household average of 901 kWh per month.3,4
• Gore guzzles more electricity in one year than the average American family uses in 21 years.5
• In September of 2016, Gore’s home consumed 30,993 kWh in just one month – as much energy as a typical American family burns in 34 months.
• During the last 12 months, Gore devoured 66,159 kWh of electricity just heating his pool. That is enough energy to power six average U.S. households for a year.
• From August 2016 through July 2017, Gore spent almost $22,000 on electricity bills.6
• Gore paid an estimated $60,000 to install 33 solar panels. Those solar panels produce an average of 1,092 kWh per month, only 5.7% of Gore’s typical monthly energy consumption.

Bulls gore so I guess Al Gore is full of BULLshit. I mean a 20ft SL rise in the “near future” predicted in his Oscar winning Doco “An Inconvenient Truth (2006)” (really should have been in the fantasy category). In reality “Eustatic SL” has risen ~ 2-3cm in that period, ie ~ 1 inch – 19ft 11in to go Al – at this rate your “near future” is circa 4,400 AD. I don’t think that’s in the “near future” and oops I haven’t factored in the imminent LIA – make that circa 5,000 AD – and what about the next IA? – we may not see Al Gore’s 20ft SL rise for another ~100,000 years.

Worth over $100,000,000 and not a penny honestly earned.

“Money is the barometer of a society’s virtue. When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion–when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing–when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors–when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you–when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice–you may know that your society is doomed. Money is so noble a medium that does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality. It will not permit a country to survive as half-property, half-loot”

Here’s a two part posting from the US that has an interesting take on things: http://wmbriggs.com/post/22293/

Political power contains its own seeds of self destruction. Only those who are addicted to power over others will seek it and cling to it. The rest simply want to be left alone to live and let live. Hence the wave after wave of freedom, aggrandizement of power, oppression, and collapse. It is exceedingly rare for either a coup or a revolution to yield a lasting freedom.

I am not sure there is a good way out of this vicious cycle. I am quite sure that the acquisition and exercise of political power will fail sooner rather than later. The only way I think has even a marginal chance is to stop feeding those who believe and act as if the only thing that counts is political power.

The Beatles swami Maharishi left a 2 Billion pound estate. The Bakkers airconditioned their dogs kennel. L. Ron Hubbard invented a religion explicitly to make money. Still people believe.

Science may have killed religion but people want to believe something, so they have Scientology and they have Global Warming. We can live with crazy religions. What is maddening are the politicians who no longer believe in anything, as long as they keep their jobs. That is the real problem. Tell them what they want to believe and when we get power, we do what we want. Just as true in the UK as the US and Australia. Politicians who stand for nothing, believe in nothing and think Venezuela is a great place to live and windmills will save us.

Folks in Guyana, on Tokyo Subways and in National Socialist Germany discovered that “we” can also DIE with whack job religions. We have a political party in the US (and England, Portugal, Uruguay, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, South Africa, Scotland, Russia, Norway, Netherlands, Côte d’Ivoire, Italy and… Australia) that seeks alternatives to coercion, ESPECIALLY coercion motivated by ignorant superstition. A 3rd party with 1.4% of the vote made light beer a felony in America for 14 years. We have 3.28% and are moving politics back in the direction of Freedom. Instead of politicians, think of principles when you vote, and the change will materialize before you.

Not sure what “whack job religion” you are thinking of when you tossed in National Socialist Germany. Most people don’t view the Jewish faith as a whack job, and that is the only “faith” that figured into what happened in the time you are mentioning, as national socialism was a political party, not a religion. On the other hand, it wasn’t a small party that caused prohibition, either, it was the majority of Americans that voted to accept it – a bit skewed by sex, I suspect, as men didn’t take it seriously, and women were tired of their men hanging out in bars. If you are referring to Libertarianism, it isn’t leading towards freedom, never has, and never will. Let me say this – as long as “parties” controlled by “party leadership” choose candidates instead of the people, then it doesn’t matter if you think principles. And a party “label” neither giveth nor taketh away principles, candidates, by personal choice, make that decision.

National Socialism displaced traditional religion in Nazi Germany. National Socialism had many religious aspects to it. One can draw parallels between National Socialism’s religious aspects and the religious aspects of AGW/Green movements.

Can’t fault the politicians. Most “democratic” systems have the power of recall.

Blame the voters that listen to propaganda about the candidate – rather than try to research them themselves, they listen to TV talking heads that pitch the propaganda. Countries like mine – the US – regularly elect those politicians that are bought by the highest bidder because the people actually don’t exercise the power that IS theirs – the vote. It can do many things, but the first thing it requires are citizens that care enough about their country to accept that “controlled government” IS their responsibility, and that what government controls IS their responsibility as well.

Too often we all say “my vote doesn’t count anyway,” so when they don’t cast it, they proved their point. Most elected governments have been given over to the highest bidder because the people chose not to limit anything. Term limits are a mistake, but campaign funding limits and campaign ads CAN be limited by law, but you have to want to control your country, not let your country control you. If you limit the funding for a campaign, you take the “buying of politicians” out of the equation, to a degree, because then people that don’t have access to “superfunds” can compete on a more level playing field.

Gold has been an obsession for some since time began, but it doesn’t have to control the people or their country, unless they really only care enough to complain, not try to do anything.

    He’s carbon neutral.

When Al Gore wants to take flight in his jet or order imported larks’ tongues he just walks around his desk and buys some carbon credits from…Al Gore! Al Gore then thanks Al Gore very much and asks if there are tax advantages in the transaction. To which Al Gore replies: “Al, old son, there are always tax advantages, but I don’t need to tell you that. You’re Al Gore!”

Ken Berlin is President and Chief Executive Officer of AL GORE’S Climate Reality Project:

4 Aug: Xinhua: Interview: U.S. climate advocate gives thumbs up to China’s efforts to fight climate change
“China has a very comprehensive program to address the climate change,” Ken Berlin, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Climate Reality Project, told Xinhua on the sidelines of the ***”2017 JCI Global Partnership Summit,” sponsored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
“Your job is to reduce the dependence on coal,” he said, noting that “China is completely on the right track.”

“On the world level, you are showing a good leadership,” said Berlin, adding that the Chinese government is very “progressive” in its efforts to deal with the climate change, citing the example that the country has a very good five-year plan for its renewable energy development…

While speaking highly of the efforts made by the Chinese government, Berlin criticized the Trump administration for its withdrawal from the Paris Climate Change Agreement, saying that he didn’t understand why Trump decided to pull out from it, doubting that it might be out of “ideological” or other reasons.
“The fossil fuel industry, the coal industry in particular, is not growing in the United States. But in the meantime, the renewable energy is growing very, very rapidly. So, if you discourage new and renewable energy, you will lose tremendous job opportunities,” said Berlin.
“So, I think he (President Trump) is on the wrong track, as his decision will hurt the U.S. economy and jobs,” he stressed.

Citing a Citibank report, Berlin said that “not taking action on climate change would cost the world 44 trillion U.S. dollars by 2060.”
“According to the same report, if we transition to a clean energy economy, the globe would save some 1.8 trillion dollars by 2040,” he said…

The transition to a low carbon economy would provide a cumulative gain through increased GDP amounting to 19 trillion dollars by 2050.
Therefore, Berlin called on all countries to stick to the Paris Climate Change Agreement and take immediate action to support the climate pact…

People should “become involved in campaigns to support climate action,” “contact your elected representatives to let them know how important climate action and the Paris Agreement are to you,” “reduce your carbon footprint by switching to renewable energy, reducing transportation, and eating less meat.”
What’s important is that all people should “engage with climate change deniers,” he said.

The Climate Reality Project is a diverse group of passionate individuals who have come together to solve the greatest challenge of our time. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore spends the majority of his time as chairman of the Project, a non-profit devoted to solving the climate crisis.

    Wikipedia: Coalition for Green Capital
The Coalition for Green Capital (CGC) was created as an outgrowth of Reed Hundt and ***KENNETH BERLIN’s efforts with the Obama-Biden Transition Team to promote financing for clean energy and energy efficiency. CGC has since become the nation’s leading expert on Green Bank institution creation and financing.
The CGC was created coming off of the Obama-Biden Transition Team in 2009, and initially focused on advocating for a federal-level Green Bank…
CGC now works in over a dozen states that are at some state of Green Bank development or consideration. And CGC now works increasingly at the international level, particularly with the formation of the Global Green Bank Network.

NOW HERE’S THE FUN BIT, JUST OUT FROM REUTERS. READ ALL:

4 Aug: CNBC: Reuters: China coal-fired power plant issues green bonds
A power producer in the city of Tianjin has issued “green bonds” worth 1 billion yuan ($150 million) to finance a 2,000-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant, a move slammed by an environmental group for diverting funds from cleaner projects…

The bond sale will be used to pay back loans used to build two 1,000-MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired generation plants, the company said in a statement.
China has been promoting new financing methods to help pay for the country’s transition to cleaner modes of growth. In June, it launched five “green finance” pilot zones, where at least ***3 trillion yuan a year will be spent over 2016-2020 to cut pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

Supercritical technologies use high temperatures and pressure levels to improve power generation efficiency, cutting fuel consumption and reducing emissions. ***Many such plants have been financed using the United Nations’ “Clean Development Mechanism” aimed at funding carbon-cutting projects.

China aims to reduce the share of coal in its total energy mix from 64 percent in 2015 to 58 percent by 2020, ***but absolute consumption is still expected to rise over the period. ***To compensate, regulators have been trying to encourage lower-emission coal-fired power generation technologies through subsidies and preferential financing policies

***Clean coal was listed in the catalog of sectors eligible for green financing published in late 2015. The list included ultra-supercritical co-generation power plants with capacity of 300 MW or more.
But the inclusion of coal has been criticized by environmental groups, who say it diverts investment from renewables…

Maybe people should know something of the Gores and how they rose politically and financially —
Once there was some high placed Russian, arguably a kingpin of the Communist Party of the USA, lets just call him A. Hammer, and he helped to kick off and power both Al Gore Sr. and A Gore Junior business and political rise.
Indeed A. Hammer was so pleased by some of Al Gore’s (Sn & Jn.) work for Occidental Petroleum (who Al Gore Sn worked for and A Hammer controlled), when their politicking to moving Tennessee Valley Authority on an A. Hammer project, that Mr. Hammer named him executive vice president and director of Island Creek Coal Co. in 1972. A position Al Gore Jn. held while he was still just a tobacco farmer. All through Al Gore Jrn.’s as vice president and director of Island Creek Coal Co., it remained TVA’s top supplier of coal for decades. Later Al Gore Jrn (with friends and family) would become the main control of Occidental Petroleum.

What a disgusting man. But I think those to blame for this man’s life of lies and deception are those who jumped to believe him without looking closely at what they were buying into. Every man like Gore needs many enablers to succeed and he found plenty of them. But what the heck? As long as he tells you what you want to hear or he puts money into your pocket while he fills his, let him lie and cheat. After all it’s no skin off their noses. No! His mere appearance, well (over) fed, complacent, patronising, almost a stereotype of a corrupt political operative.

I am certain Al Gore and family really care for us. Several years ago while researching aspartame, aka NutraSweet, which was on a US Army biological weapons list, I discovered that the Gore family made millions marketing the poison as sweetener and likely were instrumental in getting the US Food and Drug Administration to approve it as safe. Google now hides this search result on pages 100+. The big boys protect each other. It takes a lot of work and time to connect the dots. Al is a nobody. Around about the time that Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth came out, he had not long prior, purchased Belle Meade in TN.
The property had two homes – the mansion & a fairly good sized pool house, The cost for his electricity per annum for that property alone – was $30K.
At the time he also owned an apartment in MD & his late father’s home in TN – then he found a newer, younger woman, got rid of Tipper & purchased a mansion in CA, so unless he has sold his previous homes – he owns 5.

Read about the Snail Darter & Al Gore by Jeffrey St Clair & don’t forget that the older Gore family’s money came from tobacco.
Back in 2007, he gave his son a Prius in which he got arrested for driving at 100mph while under the influence of drugs & let’s not forget that he claimed to have invented the internet & that ‘Love Story’ was made about he & Tipper.
    The man is revolting!!
