Who are Trump’s loyal army asks Michael Goldfarb of the BBC
America is so divided in 2016 that one half of the electorate can barely understand the other. Comprehending the Donald Trump phenomenon has become the dominant theme of US election coverage…
Dear BBC et al, half the electorate is mocked, reviled, and otherwise ignored. No wonder the other half are clueless… The divided electorates throughout the West don’t understand each other because there is no national conversation to understand. When was the last time the BBC (or ABC) employed a show host that was a skeptic, Brexit-fan, or UKIP voter? Count the years. How about a whole panel? A series? A doco? When was the last government grant awarded to someone to explain the dangers of big-creeping-government?
It’s practically BBC official policy not to even interview people who disagree with certain views, even if that includes 62% of the British public. This is a good way to divide the electorate and create ignorance and misunderstanding, yes? It’s not that the skeptical half can’t get half the evening news, they can’t even get a 10 second, heavily edited sentence in. Greenpeace, on the other hand, get invited to high level seminars where they decide what the BBC policy will be.
A better question would be why the old media are wall-to-wall fans of Big-Gov?
In the US a smashing 96 percent of campaign donations by the media industry went to Clinton. Only 7% of journalists identify as Republicans. How many journalists have ever run a business or lived off investments (as in a real business that sells to consumers, not to the government?) Their wet-left academic training didn’t teach them how to investigate, or the discipline to study the ideas of their opponents. Nor is there training on the ethics of shamelessly pushing their own personal political preference. Only 20% of US people think the media even try to be unbiased. The public know there is a problem — but that doesn’t solve the problem. It doesn’t generate a national conversation — not one with manners and genuine curiosity instead of namecalling bun-fests.
The BBC crew realize something is missing. Someone wondered on Oct 12th why hatred for Hillary Clinton runs so deep. By Oct 31, they were still asking Why are the candidates so unpopular. Flummoxed, I tell you! By golly, however did the US end up with a choice of two such unpopular candidates? Could it be because one appears to be running a crime syndicate (which nobody likes), but the old media ignores that and mocks the other candidate relentlessly.
Half the US reads the alt-media, and knows about the corruption, which makes them feel betrayed, sold out, and madder than hell. But the other half think the peak issue of the campaign is one guy’s crass bragging to another guy on a bus eleven years ago, not the $50 million dubious dollars the Secretary of State’s family made on-the-side, or the 30,000 emails she bleached after they were subpoenaed.
Thank The Media
They’ve spent a year demonising one candidate, and twenty years lauding the other. They sold a message that dumb, old, selfish people vote for a smaller government, while smart young clever things know that the answer to everything is to ask Big-Santa to solve it with the magic money made by the elves at the Treasury. They bought their own advertising.
Look at the “Loyal Army” story. To set the scene the BBC recite the litany of Donald Trump’s flaws for the 4000th time then wonder why some people aren’t convinced:
What has puzzled people who won’t be voting for him, is how tens of millions of their fellow citizens could still be willing to support him. Who are they?
Wait til you hear the genius flash:
The answer is to be found in understanding what I call “The Bloc”.
(Otherwise known as the Middle Class Worker.)
“The Bloc, roughly 40% of the electorate, doesn’t represent a majority in the US but it is the country’s largest unified group of voters. It has lost four of the last six presidential elections but has mostly remained in control of one or both houses of Congress, and many state legislatures, making it almost impossible for Democratic administrations to govern the country.”
Hmm. How to understand the right-wing – Use standard left-voting-journalistic trick — ask another left-voter:
“One Clinton supporter I met … did understand. Bonnie Cordova, a retired schoolteacher, and I were both watching the second presidential debate at the Bohemian Beer Garden in the New York borough of Queens. I asked her afterwards if she understood why people might vote for Trump.
She did. “I taught in inner city schools for 30 years,” Cordova explained. “I was passed over a few times for promotion for a really good job because I wasn’t a minority and I was working at a school where the kids got free dental and optical treatment because they were immigrant children and I was having trouble affording it for my kids.” She acknowledged that made her resentful. “That’s a flame that can be fanned into hatred. You have to rise above it.”
The innumerate argument is that everyone should feel good about paying money to strangers to support their kids
So “The bloc” (sounds so attractive) are morally inferior people who can’t “rise above” petty jealousy. If Michael Goldfarb actually went so far as to interview a Trump supporter in depth, and tried to understand their struggles and concerns, instead of the superficial platitudes, he might find that there were numbers that don’t add up. Like bills and taxes. Mortgages. (Michael Moore gets it).
The innumerate argument is that everyone should feel good about paying money to strangers to support their kids. But how much money? The BBC never asks. Santa will provide. That’s the more advanced conversation the country (all of the Western ones) needs to have.
Why is the campaign full of hate? Blame the media. They demonize Trump, and if they’d done a tenth of a percent of real job of investigating Clinton, the Democrats would never have selected her. The media are destroying the Democrats by not asking hard questions.
Some of the media are, err, waking up “just in time”?
What a week — even the Washington Post (Clinton cheer squad) suddenly finds that Trump can give a good speech. Journo Chris Cillizza says Trump has a great message, “perfect” and marvels that Trump could have used this message for the whole campaign (as if he hasn’t been doing that all along). Could this be the first time Cillizza has watched a Trump speech direct rather than through the CNN filter?
Chris Cillizza: Donald Trump gave a very, very good speech today in Pennsylvania
Get ready to hear the amazing “new” message:
“I am not a politician,” Trump said. “My only special interest is you, the American people. The guiding rule of the political class in Washington, D.C., is that they are looking out only for themselves. They will say anything, and do anything, to cling to their power and prestige at your expense. I’m running to change and reverse decades of failure, and to work with the American people to create generations of success.”
That is an absolutely perfect message for this I’m-mad-as-hell-and-I’m-not-going-to-take-it-anymore electorate. People want change desperately. And almost no one believes Clinton represents that radical change — or anything close to it. Trump, in that passage above, puts his life outside of politics forward as incontrovertible evidence that he will walk the walk when it comes to bringing real change to the nation’s capitol.
What struck me most about the speech — aside from how well written and delivered it was — was that it laid bare how simply Trump could have constructed a winning message in this campaign. Cast Clinton as the status quo. Make her own every policy and every controversy of the previous Clinton and Obama administrations.
Why didn’t Trump say so before? :- )

Wow, Ms Nova, you really seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this.
Not so long ago, I wondered why Trump had such a following, if all that was said about him on the BBC, et al, was true. Guess what I did? Yep – I actually watched a speech he made at a rally (several, in fact). I looked at footage of supporters and protestors outside his rallies; I saw protestors with no idea what they were protesting about; I saw supporters who knew damned well what they were supporting. I tried to look at the entire picture, not just what the BBC thinks is fitting.
Guess what I found? Yep – the same as you: we have been and are being lied to, big style. Mr Trump is a welcome breath of fresh air in the foetid confines of the establishment, and the establishment hate him for it, as he will reveal them for the charlatans, liars and thieves that most of them are; that terrifies them, and they will have no limits on what they will do to stop the man – and, so far, the best they have come up with was some unguarded locker-room banter with a planted stooge. However, compare Trump’s words with his actions when he is met by a rather pretty lady – total, hands-off respect; it is only the intervention of the stooge that triggers any physical contact, and it is the lady who instigates the move. This next week might see some very interesting developments – hopefully, not the world war three that some seem to be agitating for.
652
Locker room banter is just that. Feeling free of (female) scrutiny blokes engage in competitive nonsense braggadocio. It was always my observation that the blokes who bragged the most had probably done the least. Stories such as Trump’s recorded nonsense are simply one upmanship in a nonsense exercise.
And,Jo.The “wet left” academies are the also rans. So many of our academies are hard left that the whole sector must be called to order.
492
Thank you, JoNova, for having the courage to question garbage disguised as “consensus thinking” & “politically correct opinions.”
When Trump starts to “drain the swamp” after 8 Nov 2016, the public will see that the US NAS (National Academy of Sciences) has misused control of annual budget review of federal research agencies, especially NASA & DOE, to hide reality from the public.
No scientist in NASA or DOE is so stupid as to actually believe Weizsacker’s 1935 error in calculating nuclear energy from a sloping baseline instead of simply measuring the atomic rest mass, as Einstein (1905) and Aston (1922) suggested.

Speaking of “realignments” …….
http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/abc-catalyst-programs-staff-told-they-are-being-made-redundant/ar-AAjNmPZ?li=AAgfYrC&ocid=mailsignout
“Catalyst fills a unique and important place in Australian science journalism and we share concerns that a longer-format replacement would mean important and exciting scientific work was ignored,” Ealy said.
“It would be a huge disservice to the Australian public if the ABC’s strategy is to intentionally dumb down specialist content in favour of ratings.”
Er…but its not disservice to the Australian public whereby the A*C deliberately lyies about climate change…..?
“For 2017, Catalyst will move from the current half-hour, magazine-style program structure to a one-hour documentary format, focused on high-impact, single-issue programs or series,” he said.
“It will be presented by leading science experts, chosen for the various programs. This shift will align Catalyst with world’s best practice for science programming.”
Ah…so presumably “worlds best practice” means “repackaged other networks stuff” to reduce headcount, or maybe keep a tight reign on science to make sure it stays on song?
This last bit was intesesting – cant have that awkward …er….truth stuff leaking out, now can we?
“Demasi has been on leave since a review of her Wi-Fried? program – which linked Wi-Fi and mobile phones with health risks including brain cancer – was found to have breached the ABC’s impartiality guidelines.
The discredited program was the second Catalyst story by Demasi to be found in breach of the ABC’s editorial policies and to be removed from the website. In 2013 Demasi kept her job despite an editorial breach for a program about statins.”
Wifi, statins…..tsk….
Is it just me, or is there a hysterical overreaction to people even being slightly even handed in handling science these days….?

As a female who worked in industry I scratched my head after reading and hearing the ‘kitty-cat’ recording of a private conversation by Billy, the nephew of ex-president Bush. The one who says he is voting for Hillary…. and Trump.
What the heck is the fuss?
Is THAT all the evidence they can dig up, a very old tape of talk heard in locker rooms and factories around the world?
Haven’t these people ever listened to the words of the songs broadcast to their kids everyday???
I can’t stand the stuff on radio and don’t listen to it but here is a random sample: link (Caution -vulgar)

“Haven’t these people ever listened to the words of the songs broadcast to their kids everyday???”
Well put!

I’ve been predicting a second american revolution for a while now….but could extend out to the rest of the west. The Communists have almsot taken over the media completely, so are suprised when normal people dont appreciate their academic bile and vitriol they spew out every day to anyonw who would oppose thier demented view of the world. Clearly, the MSM pinkos have learnt nothing from history in that communism collapses in on itself *because it doesnt work*.
A relative of mine encountered leftist nastiness at the coal face and it was a bruising affair – they have no morals and behave like a bunch of hungry jackals over a dead carcass. I have little time for them but have great delight in asking very hard questions about climate change to their faces when I can..they become incandescent and its amusing to watch.
Dont underestimate how evil they are – based on first hand experience, I havent seen much that I’d consider morally upright in their behaviour – its power for the sake of power, and nhilism is a credo they love.
It is what it is.
311
Amazing isn’t it. The same people who have been involved in the moral decay of our society for the past few decades suddenly become puritans. It was particularly amusing to listen to Michelle Obama huffing away about Trump not long after she had taken her teenage daughter to a JayZ concert. The lyrics of some of JayZ’s songs, if you can call them that, are way worse than anything Trumps said on that tape.
140
Ted… but it wasn’t a locker room. He was in a workplace talking to a work colleague about another work colleague.
121
Easy fix Gee Aye.
After Progressives takeover, there will be no jobs.
161
See #1.1.2.
40
Have you ever been to the cricket, Gee Aye?
Some of the sledging can be pretty strong.
But guess what. The vast majority of people are interested in the cricket.
Get it?
100
no?
16
Gee Aye doesn’t understand metaphor, or drawn parallel. He/she is a little literal.

Ever been on an assembly line withe lots of women workers?
The sexual insults, insinuations, swearing and blue jokes would fly thick and furious, no shrinking violet need apply!
Clinton and her team are from a different ‘genteel’ elitist background and wouldn’t last 10 second with them.
As Doris, a fine old college, a robust women of ample proportions would say, “she’s a soft stuck-up m’th’r-fukka, in need of of a good ‘ucking slap.” Or her counter to a man not respecting her was along the lines of “try that, and if I don’t like it I’ll bite your ball off and stick them up your ass!”
She had a kind heart and was a good worker.
60
It was not workplace. Bush did not work with or for Trump. Neither did the host of E!
30
No it was a van with two men and ONLY two men.
Once Trump left that van and was greeted by a woman he was positively courtly.
Pleas look at the ORIGINAL and not the fantasies put out by the MSM.
40
What we are actually witnessing is the dumbing down of electorates around the “free” by the media backed by government, Socialist governments in particular.
Freedom of speech has been reigned in by the use of & promotion of PC.
The first victim of PC is truth.
Schools brainwash the young with leftist ideology as do universities. Employers in the media simply won’t employ a journalist with ideas of any ideology other than Socialist.
The brainwashing is most profound in the USA & somehow the people don’t even realise what’s been done to them. Any who do cotton on are quickly silenced thru ostracism & intimidation.
Trump is suddenly a warmongering sex crazed maniac because he won’t tow the Socialist ideology….he’s a Nationalist an d of course we can’t have nationalism because that leads to Nazism. Funny that because Nazi is actually short for National socialist.
Leftist Government in the west obviously feel that the populations have had sufficient brainwashing to warrant the current disaster in Europe and the attempt at forcing the same insanity on the USA, Canada & Australia. I often wonder who or what organisation was actually responsible for ousting Abbott?
Hopefully we will soon have Trump in charge in USA & we may see a swing back to truth & sanity in western democracies.
261
If you point at the UN,you will probably be 100% on the money.I seem to recall”Lord Monkton “warned us about what the UN was up to,about 6 months before Abbott was disposed of.
Beware the “Lady”of the long knives.I’m sure the “Stick Insect”will have extracted her “Knives”out of Abbotts back and is probably looking for a new place to put them.
20
Three cheers for you Jo! You have helped us to discover what has been hidden for much too long. 🙂
201
Sir Radical Rodent,
I truly agree with your observations! What type of rodent might you be? Here about; varmints like rats, possums, and armadillos are not well liked, and you want not my ‘varmint chile’! OTOH some consider squirrels and prairie dogs ‘rodents’ Such, along with meerkats, raccoon, beaver, and wild hog are but ‘critters’! Critter chile can be excellent, depending on the skill of the preparer/cook! Raccoons can be trapped, but never seen by one holding what looks like a stick! Clever critters!!
30
My next old billy goat stew is marinating in wine and spices. Tomorrow it goes in the slow cooker for the day. With luck I can get a bit of venison and rabbit to add to the hogget and goat in the freezer.
Around here beaver would be very easy. I understand the tail was considered a delicacy by the mountain men of the old west probably because of the need for fat in their diet but I think I will forgo the treat.
For possum or coons, all I have to do is set the trap on the front porch. The varmints are all over the place and usually end up dead on the road.
30
‘For possum or coons, all I have to do is set the trap on the front porch. The varmints are all over the place and usually end up dead on the road.’
For possum or armadillo, egg on 2×4 to the top of barrel 1/2 with water and eggshell works fine. My raccoons gang up on me and steal the 2×4!
10
You might want to try kangaroo tail soup.
I haven’t, but there is so much sinew in a kangaroo’s tail that soup would be the only way to get any nutrition out of it.
10
WOW! Home run Jo! An excellent article, with a keen insight into the presidential race of this country.
What the media also does not understand is that the “Mad as hell and not going to take it anymore” block that is voting for Trump are not out there demanding to be heard by the media. We long ago lost interest in trying to convert idiots to any point of view. Instead, we are merely going to vote the bums out. And when I say “bums”, I mean both parties.
I said this elsewhere. It is no small wonder that well over 50% of the primary vote went to “anti-establishment” candidates in BOTH parties. Bernie Sanders got 50% (and would have won if that race was honest) and Trump/Cruz got 70% on the other side.
While most of those Bernie voters will vote for Hillary, many will not.
362
Phil,
After the DNC wikileaks and the treatment of Bernie supporters at the Democrat Convention, plus the Clinton’s treatment of Haiti, I do not think Hillary will get even 1/2 of the 50% that voted for Bernie in the primary.
And this time I do not think those angry voters are going to stay home in disgust either. They will vote Jill Stein or Trump. As the anger grows more likely Trump.
We can thank Assange for a lot of that vote. The young voters love him. He is their hero and they are going to stick it to the democrats in retaliation for statements by:
Hillary link
Sec. of State Kerry. link

Many years ago I worked for an IT company in Melbourne, Oz.
One of our tech guys was friends with Julian Assange and his mates who were caught hacking. A problem arose because our techo loaned out a company owned 80Mb hard drive to the boys. The Feds were all over the place looking for accomplices and they confiscated the hard drive as evidence.
We got the hard drive back about two years later and it was stuffed. lol
Just a bit of history.
50
Slight disagreement – I think Johnson will get more of those votes than Stein. But otherwise agree with your assessment.
20
The MSM in Australia is as bad as the MSM in the US. For instance Bernard Salt writing in the Australian say this:
What arrogance and condescension; and imagine if Trump wins. Will people like Salt continue to malign those who are opposed to the political establishment? Probably.
In Australia the first things that should be done is overhaul the ABC and abolish 18C. Fat chance.
242
“Everyone I speak with on the subject is clearly opposed to the man, as am I”
I guess if you have a lot of socialist mates and spend you life moaning into your inner city latte, this makes sense.
An awful lot of Americans I speak to are of the opinion that “anyone but Hullary” is the order of the day…..
152
They only talk to people of their own. They never speak with those with different viewpoints.
I’m voting for Trump. I’m a white, middle-aged, upper middle class female.
110
The author actually has the solution and states it. But like the MSM in the USA, he is too stupid to understand it.
Of course his own circle is going to think like him! Trump supporters are not laying low. They are shouting from every venue. But the MSM is not reporting it.
I said before, that a requirement for a modern day journalist is half a brain. Any more, and they are too smart for the occupation.
41
A few critics that have appeared here sniping at Jo Nova’s coverage of this US Presidential election are of the same ilk that have supported the cause for CAGW mitigation of Co2 and the trashing of a scientific method that greatly helped humans to envision their future potential.
The same critics support the cause for deconstructing democracy and all it’s applied advantages for the installation of a political ideology that offers people no solutions or goals and crushes any potential by it’s very design.
If anyone wants comparisons of the Marxist dialectic I give you global warming and the 2016 USA election.
374
Sorry if this is O/T, but on the subject of “Deconstructing Democracy” I wonder if any of you have seen this:

David,
That is the general opinion of the elite. That is why the EU was set-up with a dog and pony show elected by the masses that could do nothing but rubber stamp the orders from on high.

This is typical leftist thinking – not how he has a knighthood = establishment
81
How very arrogant of him. I went off Attenborough years ago; he’s certainly been thoroughly BBC’d.
171
As a lifetime student of biology myself I had always admired David Attenborough as one of the greatest teachers of science in the world until several years ago when I saw him explaining in about two minutes why AGW theory was correct.
It was actually sad to see someone who had been one of the great scientists and entertainers in the world revealing such a pathetic and unscientific side of himself. I started to think he was becoming feeble and sentimental and that it might be a good time to quietly retire.
292
Attenborough as good in the early days of Zoo Quest. But he and Prof David Belamy ( a botanist in the UK) declared AGW false. Belamy stuck to the truth and swiftly disappeared from TV and his books from the shops. Attenborough quickly changed his mind and continued to make expensive series including AGW propaganda. Thinks the Chinese one-child system is great and should be used everywhere.
By the way, not every TV channel abroad who have bought Life in the Freezer series are aware that here in the UK there was a 7th episode – using all the well known “the Arctic is disappearing” propaganda. Why?
I have absolutely no respect for him but deeply respect David Belamy!6
321
From Steve Goddard website: Attenborough said, in an interview that someone needs to shoot Trump to save the climate. What is wrong with tbis man?
10
God took the wrong “Bros”
10
Dave Ward,
I can’t imagine that those are Attenborough actual thoughts as he is only a automaton, trained to voice what ever script he is given. Just like he does on television.
The change from human to robot happened a few years before his knighthood.
He now just sits at home awaiting the edited footage and prepared script for the next TV production he voices-over. This makes me wonder who really wrote that piece to which his name is attributed — a BBC minder perhaps?
81
I suspect the NOW mob could *suggest* he could be ruined if he didnt comply….dont under-estimate how nasty these people are and how they will stop at nothing to grasp power…
60
Sorry…..should read “NWO mob”

Only one red thumb!?
Come now sheeple you have nothing more to offer?
40
Let’s face it tom0mason, their heart just isn’t in it, any more. They can’t decide if it’s methane, CO2, H2O, or killer cow breath which is going to destroy the planet. They can’t even agree as to which precious gem of Gaia is going to be sacrificed first: Antarctica and all those cute Penguins, the Arctic and the rather more scary Polar Bears, the Great Barrier Reef, with all those squidgy things, or any old “rain forest” (which is all about ants, ants and more ants).

‘The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money’–Margaret Thatcher
20
And socialist are noble cause thieves stealing other people’s earned money.
10
On the plus-side, Jo, you don’t have to pay the Beebyanka to continue peddling its lies.
111
The betrayal by the Fourth Estate is total. From reporting the news to its outright manufacture, they traded their independence for their thirty pieces of silver, their political position. Critical analysis was replaced by Progressive belief, and by rank eco-fanaticism. It’s a true popcorn moment watching their virtual echo World implode around them as they slowly awake to an uncomfortable reality. Defunding the State monolith that is funded media is now more important than ever and this is an excellent time to do it. At the same time, an examination of University funding is urgently required. The University culture has replicated the descent of the Fourth Estate
411
Not total, Manfred. There are some publishing sound information, else all would bave been lost by now.
91
Total refers to the betrayal, perhaps less than elegantly and explicitly expressed. The same betrayal that results in the unrelenting bias and distortion so well enumerated and described here. That small portions of the MSM in the US (none I have discerned in New Zealand or Australia) project a counterpoint is of course true. And of course, were it not for The Net general and our host in particular as one outstanding example of counterpoint, I agree, things could have been more difficult though not ‘lost’, because … people still vote the way they individually determine even when they’re repeatedly told otherwise by 95% of MSM propaganda (Brexit). So, I think the Trump ‘shock’ will be cataclysmic, a causal reason for the subsequent unraveling of a Left centered MSM. CNN appears to have started to show signs of readjustment after the second leak of a debate question by the Donna Brazile.
I have met no one willing to open a conversation extolling the virtues of Trump. Most willing to mention politics make indecisive and meaningless remarks about the ‘mess’ over in the US with a weak Clinton centered compliment and some denigrating banality about Trump, usually that he’s stupid, a rascist and/or misogynist. A little reminder about that inconvenient thing called ‘democracy’ makes a very useful opener.
70
You don’t get to be a Billionair by being “Stupid”
10
The blame may be heaped higher on editorial policy than on individual journalists.
Quote from the late great Christopher Hitchens:
It makes you wonder just how little has to be cut out of a piece of text in order to completely change the interpretation.
60
What the fourth estate publishes is often biased by those who provide the funds.
I the case of the ABC, BBC, NBC, and other public broadcasters, that is the Government of the day. Irrespective of what their respective charters say, public broadcasters are influenced by the attitudes of those in political power. It is one thing getting an interview with a senior politican, it is quite another to be given a preprepared press release.
It is only the alternative media, and blogs such as this, that can explore around the edges of what people are actually saying and doing, and report the summation of what they see.
141
Possibly, but the ABC shows little sign of being interested in anything other than the Left wing of the Labor Party and the Greens.
I think the revolving door idea has some merit; i.e. that the reporters talk to their friends who are the media advisers/public relations/spn doctors working for a Minister but paid by the Government. When there is a change some reporters move into government jobs and the displaced friends move in (or back) to the media. They all went to the same sort of indoctrination at university, meet socially, live in the same suburbs and hear the same garbage over and over. That, and an exalted idea of their status guides what we get from them.
140
As I keep telling my 11 yo about climate change – the reality is that the teachers are forced to lie to you, by the govt teaching lies through its required curriculum.
I make sure my child knows where the lie is coming from, so that her teachers are always respected but she knows thay are forced to lie to her.
It is what it is.
100
Wise tactic.
50
The BBC disposed of Dr David Bellamy when he dared depart the party line on global warming. Their benighted puppet David Attenborough has obligingly pranced at the end of their strings since the late 1980’s, receiving a knighthood for his trouble. It appears like Government and Corporation in lockstep.
Maybe. But if so, that is precisely because the MSM have betrayed their vocation and job. In reality, it is the opposite is required. I think however, that it is way beyond this.
The News and Weather manufactured propaganda output is designed to weigh heavily on the elected officials and to thereby express the required eco-Globalist influence. The players behind the MSM (UN, UNEP, Corporate interests, Greens et al.) drive the influence game for the present. If they’re Trumped, things may change.
80
I keep thinking of that movie “V for Vendetta” and the tight control the gummint had on the media….
10
The last dark deed of the Howard Government was the passage of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act in October 2007. That act is the auditing basis of the carbon tax.
Mr Howard’s plan was to get the auditing system bedded down, then start taxing. Labor’s carbon tax would be a couple of years behind schedule if Mr Howard had not laid the bureaucratic foundations for it.
The evil that men do lives after them, and in Mr Howard’s case that is a possible future in which Australia does not have a cement industry, a steel industry, oil refining, a multitude of other industries and, most importantly, a synthetic liquid fuels industry.
That is the part of the Howard legacy that many of us have toiled mightily to avoid. That legacy is now with us, and we stare into the abyss of a continually shrinking economy.
The list of carbon tax plotters is a lot longer than Howard, Rudd and Gillard.
We all blamed labor for the carbon tax,but in fact it was”Little Johnny Howard”who started the ball rolling. And now Turdbull has brought it back in.
As a scientist, what saddens me is that most of our scientific institutions have failed in their duty to serve and protect the Australian people. The CSIRO, the Bureau of Meteorology, the universities — these have all failed us and sold their souls for a handful of silver. Our academics have met our lowest expectations of them.
Then there are the institutions that actively, and purposefully, and very treacherously, conspire against us.
Chief among them is the ABC, which has ceaselessly, and shamelessly, promoted the bizarre cult of carbon. The ABC pays lip service to the norms of our society while doing its utmost to undermine them. The corporation is well past its use by date. It sees Australia through its perverted lens of self-loathing.
The next federal government will inherit a lot of debt. Sacrifices will have to be made to pay off that debt. The easiest sacrifice to make will be to shut down the ABC. The huge sum that is spent keeping the beast alive would be better spent paying off Labor’s legacy of debt.
If our nation is to endure, the ABC must not survive the next term of federal parliament. None who love this country will weep for it — just as this government did not weep for the cement workers who have already lost their jobs due to the carbon tax.
Then there is the matter of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). They have told too many lies over too many years. Their betrayal of the Australian people cannot be forgiven.

Problem is that media tends to attract the Left more than the Right.
If you break down what makes a Left and a Right tick, the Left is typically of the mindset of ‘I know what is best for the world. There is great injustice and only *I* can change it. Everything would just be so much better if the correct people were in charge’.
Speak to a Right and things are more ‘why won’t these people leave us alone and let us get on with living our lives the way we want to.’ Most Rights don’t really want to be in charge. They want to be successful because success is a reward but successful and ‘in charge’ are not necessarily the same thing.
So what is media? Media is telling people what they need to know.
Now if you are a Left the connection of ‘what the people need to know’ and ‘I know best’ is pretty obvious. Telling the base facts and allowing discussion is too simple. When YOU know what is best and YOU know what is clearly right/wrong, then why wouldn’t you only tell people what they need to know?
Lefts know best. Just ask them. And when you know best why wouldn’t you want a job telling everyone else what to think?

Well said. Refreshing. Brilliant.
It is the point that the media classes like the ABC/SBS cannot see, that they are part of a Group Think. This from the former Chairman, Maurice Newmann. They believe only they understand what is needed and that is whatever they are told. Even journalists at the Australian like Sheridan and Kelly and Savva seem to believe they are the Government in Waiting, always lecturing incompetent ill informed politicians like Tony Abbott on what they should think, what they should do.
The very worst are the mentally armour plated ABC, 1,000 full time public service journalists who are given total independence so they take long Christmas holidays, award themselves pay and conditions above anyone else and all think the same on any issue. They are all Green voters, inner city privileged people and really collectively hate Tony Abbott, absolutely detest Pauline Hanson, adore Malcolm Turnbull but would not vote for him ever and think most Australians are uncultured ignorant uneducated people. They are the Public Self Service. Accountable to no one, total irresponsibiltiy presented as valuable independent thinking. No wonder they all think the same. They never have to justify their employment to anyone.
In this the increasingly Sydney Harbour based ABC elite join the Canberra public service elite, a sheltered workshop run by windmills, a legislation factory which tries to control everyone’s lives from their cossetted, closeted existence. It was not long ago that one entire suburb burnt to the ground because the Greens would not allow council fire prevention. Climate change of course, so they do not even have to take the blame for the consequences of their group think
Now the public service have decided we should join the great fraternity of like minded UN and EU and American public controllers, bureaucrats and in concert with the Merchant Banks, make everyone destitute while they retire to the beach on indexed lifelong publicly funded pensions. World taxation, world with no borders, everyone living in harmony. No ‘wealth for toil’ from the Advance Australia Fair. Wealth from taxation. It works for them.
Who needs manufacturing, farming, trading and the many occupations which 65% of Australians engage as they struggle to make a living, feed their families and live in a home. Just get the government to pay for it all while the bureaucratic elite sit around their coffee tables deciding what industries to tax and close next. It works for them.
The revolution coming in the US will come to Australia. Bring back our Prime Minister and not the empty suit we have at present. Innovation and agility. Jobs and Growth. A man who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is no more. He knows it too.
The US wants what they have not had for the sixteen years of the useless and destructive Clinton/Obama administration, a leader, even a world leader. Russia have one. Even the UK have one. The French want one. Australia used to have one. We want our leader back.
The ABC/SBS monolith must be sold. We do not need an overstuffed ABC with over 1,000 public self service journalists and 4,000 helpers. We do not need 5,000 CSIRO scientists doing nothing much. We do not need hundreds of thousands of public service bureaucrats all justifying their jobs by hiring more people to manage. Government is not the point of this society. The people are. Donald Trump makes perfect sense.

Is this why Comey had to act ?
“NYPD detectives and a NYPD Chief, the department’s highest rank under Commissioner, said openly that if the FBI and Justice Department fail to garner timely indictments against Clinton and co- conspirators, NYPD will go public with the damaging emails now in the hands of FBI Director James Comey and many FBI field offices.
“What’s in the emails is staggering and as a father, it turned my stomach,” the NYPD Chief said. “There is not going to be any Houdini-like escape from what we found. We have copies of everything. We will ship them to Wikileaks or I will personally hold my own press conference if it comes to that.”
The NYPD Chief said once Comey saw the alarming contents of the emails he was forced to reopen a criminal probe against Clinton.
“People are going to prison,” he said.”

NB. Look up in the top left hand corner of the link —91% of all bets in the last 2 days with PaddyPower are on Trump
291
Wow! “As a father, it turned my stomach”? This does not sound like racketeering and this from a policeman, not a legislator. It is understandable in the context of the investigation into Weiner’s approach to a teenage girl, but what on earth does this have to do with the Clintons?
91
Please read the link before pontificating.
It seems to me it’s all unsubstantiated at the moment, anyway. The hardest thing is to aquire full, reliable information.
22
linking Clinton herself and associates to: Child exploitation and Sex crimes with minors (children)
That is clear enough and the first I have read of this. Maybe it is hyperbole, because the investigation is into Weiner, not Clinton.
However it may revolve around the infamous Jeffrey Epstein ..
“The new emails contain travel documents and itineraries indicating Hillary Clinton, President Bill Clinton, Weiner and multiple members of Congress and other government officials accompanied convicted pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein on his Boeing 727 on multiple occasions to his private island in the U.S Virgin Islands”

A few facts about NYPD
First, I heard these are no nonsense guys that will go after the big boys.
Second, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani broke his promise to Trump at the RNC convention.
Third they do NOT like their democrat mayor.
Hundreds of NYC police officers turned their backs on a screen showing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio at police officers funeral. Before that NYPD cops, furious with Bill de Blasio, turn their backs on the mayor as he entered the hospital where the officers died.
Rafael Ramos, 40, and Wenjian Liu, 32 were shot ‘execution-style’ on Dec 20th 2014. Of course they are not the last police officer shot by Black Lives Matter (BLM) ‘protestors’ several more were shot this year. BLM is Soros funded ( Hacked Soros Memo: $650,000 to Black Lives Matter ) and while Hillary had the family of thugs killed by cops on stage at the Democratic Convention, Trump honored our law enforcement and military.
Police officers have ZERO love for Hillary, Soros and their support of Black Lives Matters. Not when it gets them wounded, killed or put on trial.
161
Ross, those sites are often more speculation than fact, but that does not mean they are always wrong. But you did bring up an angle I had not thought of before. The Democrats really POed the cops in this country by shunning them at their convention, and lionizing the families of the felons who were killed by cops (none were clean). So it may well be that the cops are behind the push to indict Clinton. Their “Union” has fully endorsed Trump (a rare occasion for any union to endorse a republican), and there is outright animosity between the police unions and democrats over their embrace of BLM.
30
“their embrace of BLM.”
US Bureau of Land Management or something else?
BLM, NOAA, TSA, DEA, NASA, NSF, and Homeland security; at a minimum, need be eliminated/disbanded with no recourse for former employees/appointees!
All other US gov institutions need a 90% reduction in employment/funding! The US is without sufficient funds to employ such do-nothing plodders. The FAA and the weather bureau, can ask for funds from airlines or the states directly, if their services are important to those
10
Why haven’t you heard the trump message before ? Because MSM, government TV worldwide has refused to report it.
282
Exactly Stephen,
For a journalist to come out and admit they haven’t heard this before is an absolute indictment on their “profession”. Even if they hate Trump and don’t agree with much of what he says, you would think they would at least follow what he doing and saying. I wonder if Chris Cillizza is aware of Trump’s speech he gave at Gettysburg ?

The final straw was the threat by the NYPD that THEY would hold a press conference on the subject if he did not reopen the case.
The skuttlebutt is former NYC Mayor and Trump supporter Rudy Giuliani has been talking with the NYPD.

Obama was an unknown. A clean slate.
Bush was disliked even by republicans esp. after the bank bailout, the way he handled 9/11 and the Patriot Act forming Homeland Security.
McCain was remembered by many voters as the Vietnam Songbird link
So you had blacks and democrats and those think themselves ‘enlightened’ voting for Obama and people like me voting third party because we just could not stomach McCain.
The Democrat hope was to repeat the feat with a ‘woman’ but they did not count on females instinctively disliking Hillary. (I liked several democrat First Ladies but NOT Hillary.) They did not count on all the old Clinton baggage and they certainly did not count on Wikileaks and Anonymous.
It is the Independents who really count in US election and they don’t like either party.
By 2010 Rasmussen found 1/3 republican, 1/3 democrat and 1/3 tea party. So the tea party had to be taken out and the Blair-Rockefeller Report was used to show the Tea Party was ‘racist.’
However this time the ‘Race Card’ and all the rest of the PC labels are laughed at. Aside from the e-mails, I think Hillary’s calling Trump supporters Irredeemable Deplorables and her husband laughing at the ‘other basket’ who he called ‘Coal people’ — the workers who lost their jobs to ‘clean energy’ WTO and NAFTA, — was the campaigns biggest mistake. That lost Hillary the Union vote.
It is a really really bad mistake to laugh at voters BEFORE they cast their vote.

The financial markets are spooked at the prospect of a trump win.
52
The news is telling us that the markets are spooked because people fear a Trump victory.
It would not, by any chance, be related to the fact that investors are slowly realising that the US economy has become a first rate basket case under Obama’s administration? Or that people are now realising that a bunch of left wing thugs have been running the country?
92
Yea, the “people”. i.e. Wall Street. The part that the democrats are supposed to hate.
20
This gambling. If everyone thinks the market value will go down, it goes down regardless. Picking the right direction, either direction can make you a billionaire and the problem the Stock Exchange and regulatory authorities have is to keep some sense in the system or shut the thing. Otherwise what goes down goes up again and v.v. All in the timing. Computer trading system can make the whole market unstable because they react in fractions of a second.
In Australia when we had a fixed government supported exchange rate, we used to get a devaluation of the currency against other currencies by up to 20% every election. You could make 20% on election day, so it became institutionalized. It did not matter who the candidates were or who won, it was always the same. So Paul Keating as his first move after election floated the currency, trapping the speculators.
So as with Brexit, the markets are not voters. They are speculators, gambling on moves in the currencies. Stock exchanges are affected as it is one of the short term places people park their cash. However to read the headlines, you would think the people are afraid of BREXIT or Trump. That is intentionally misleading.
101
Radio NZ gleefully reported this ‘disturbance in the Force’ across the Globe. It is more of the same fatuous, Leftist propaganda and MSM bias. They whined that global trade interests (code for eco-globalisation) were becoming less certain with the advent of Trump. All too true, though dishonestly reported. Hard to conceive as it is, that under Obama, the accumulation of US national debt has surpassed the debt of all Administrations in US history added together, it’s incomprehensible that World markets would view national insolvency, record low interest rates and deflation as anything other than a serious and depressing challenge. The possibility of Trumpian change by a man who understands business and trade would in a rational World be propelling the markets forward in positive expectation. I believe it is as likely they will as the MSM adjustment bureau will no longer be able to bridge the gap between their virtual reality and the real World.
In the same news TV NZ went on to highlight the speech given by President Obama denouncing Trump as someone too unstable, temperamentally ill suited, and unqualified to be POTUS. They omitted of course the Damoclean indictment for corruption beyond belief that is still emerging over Hilliar, who is by DNC definition perfectly suited to the Office.

The media are practicing censorship for the simple reason that it works; they know that many people are not politically engaged, and time poor, and therefore take their cue from short bite news items and headlines, which is the perfect audience if you want to shape opinion rather than simply report facts. I have been sceptical of the Australian media for many years, and have largely abandoned it in consequence, but the bias has always been relatively muted and probably invisible many less-engaged people; but this US election cycle has shocked me if only because any pretence of independence has been cast aside as Trump has risen despite the increasingly hysterical, irrational and, in some instances. simply dishonest attacks by the majority of the old media, who any rational person must conclude are in the paid service of certain interests. Not that there is any problem with being a paid advocate, but you cannot do it while pretending to be an independent and trustworthy source of information upon which people can then make their own judgments. The reality is the old media know full well that there is a rational case to be made for supporting / electing Trump, but they are just blacking it out in the hope that there remain enough low information voters who will be swayed to elect their preferred candidate; and lets face it, the critical mass within the media is now so entrenched with progressive politics and politicians that it would be very difficult to get the alternative view out, even if some wanted to try. And it is a good plan for so long as people don’t have alternative sources of information, which regrettable for the old media and is controlling interests, they now do. All of which is why the old media is fast losing audience, respect, credibility and ultimately money; and the new alternative media is fast eating the old media’s lunch.
I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time; but I think Trump will win this election. And I fervently hope that he does, not because I like the man or his policies, but because western democracy badly need a disruptor to break open the culture of political insiders and people who it seems now own them. Nothing that Trump might do is worse than what we know Clinton will do.

I can only hope that US voters are looking a little more deeply into the issues with Clinton than our ABC or “The Australian”.
If you only had those sources you wouldn’t even know that Hillary Clinton has lied (and lied and lied…). The turgidity of his prose has long been an indicator that Greg Sheridan at “The Australian” is brain dead, but the question I would really still like answered is why does the ABC work so hard to convince us that world peace and prosperity depends on the election of Clinton? Sure, it’s a collective with a collective voice, but it won’t be influencing a single vote.

two pro-Clinton media outlets take on SOME of the Clinton corruption:
1 Nov: New Yorker: The Trouble with Doug Band
By Benjamin Wallace-Wells
Band was persuading his clients to donate money to Bill Clinton’s charitable projects and to hire the former President to give corporate speeches and serve on boards. He counted eight million dollars that he’d raised for the Clinton Foundation this way, and said that his efforts had so far made more than thirty million dollars for Clinton, and would pay him more than sixty million dollars over the next decade…
That Band felt free to trash-talk Chelsea Clinton, and that she failed to quickly dislodge him, says a great deal about how close he was to the former President, and how much trust Bill Clinton had in him…

Wikileaks reveals emails that show the depth of the corruption at the Clinton Foundation. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down.
When top Bill Clinton aide Douglas Band wrote the memo, he was a central player at the Clinton Foundation and president of his own corporate consulting firm. Over the course of 13 pages, he made a case that his multiple roles had served the interests of the Clinton family and its charity.
In doing so, Band also detailed a circle of enrichment in which he raised money for the Clinton Foundation from top-tier corporations such as Dow Chemical and Coca-Cola that were clients of his firm, Teneo, while pressing many of those same donors to provide personal income to the former president…

i swear i woke up to this intro to today’s program, which then opened with ABC’s zillionth attack on Cardinal Pell, then the lengthy “useful pagan” segment, before finishing with a SaintPopeFrancis segment:
2 Nov: ABC Religion & Ethics Report: Andrew West: Donald Trump: A useful pagan?
INTRO: You’ve heard Donald Trump called many things – sexist, racist, tax dodger, a man who loses his cool on twitter. But have you ever heard him called a pagan? …
(from summary) Now you’re stuck with a candidate who boasts about his three marriages, admits to groping women, and who says he’s never asked God for forgiveness for anything…
The Republican presidential candidate has split two key voting groups he needs to win – evangelicals and conservative Catholics.
Some say “never Trump”, others have likened him to a pagan in the Old Testament – the wrong man used for the right reason.
Neil Young writes on US religion and politics and is author of We Gather Together: The Religious Right and the Problem of Interfaith Politics. He’s analysed the latest polls.
http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/religionandethicsreport/
no prize for guessing who is going to win, according to Young, who has been writing for HuffPo since 2011!
btw Clinton’s name never comes up and I can find no Clinton segment, positive or negative, on the program this year. however, Andrew West has:
28 Sep: Is Trump losing the religious right?
Why are some traditional, conservative Christians moving away from Trump?…
31 Aug: Trump and the Mormon vote
Why has Trump offended the Mormons? And how will this cost him politically?
27 Jul: US election: expect the unexpected from the religious right
Donald Trump is widely held to have divided the religious right. How will this affect the outcome of the election?
i know almost nothing about Twitter, but is there any sign of public interest on Andrew West’s twitter page? it’s the same on so many ABC presenters’ twitter & FB pages, yet we’re told Aussies overwhelmingly love “theirABC”!

I have – or rather had – a nice Norwegian lady friend. I knew her many years ago in Paris. She is now a politician in the main political party of Norway – Arbeiderpartiet (Workers’ Party). This lady unfriended me in Facebook – because I pointed out that Hillary Clinton and her husband are known criminals and warmongers.
The point I am getting at is that I believe that time will reveal a direct link between the following events:
1- Obama receiving a Nobel Peace prize.
2- The Norwegian government handing big sums of money over to the Clinton Foundation.
3- The Americans giving the leader of Arbeiderpartiet – Stoltenberg – the job of NATO secretary general.
4- The father of Stoltenberg – who was foreign minister of Norway at the time – organizing the fake “Oslo Peace Accord” which was never respected by the Israelis. Arafat was poisoned not long after.
5- Norwegian skiers being allowed to consume huge amounts of asthma medication to help them get their gold medals.
I could go on, but the threat of corruption is there for all to see.
81
The timing of Obama’s Nobel Prize is such that he would have to have been nominated for it before he was elected President.
45
With all due respect. You misunderstood my point. The objective was to make Obama appear respectable and electable. The Nobel Prize was the perfect umbrella under which an ex-Chicago rent-boy could take shelter. The same applied to him being made president of the Harvard Law Review.

IMHO most US government classification is used only to cover up ‘incompetence’ or ‘fraud’! The US markings mean nothing, but are used by the federal courts to inhibit US citizens from reveling that very ‘incompetence’!
Why must we rely on the spook agencies of enemies to revel US ‘incompetence’, ‘fraud’, and deceit?
00
What about our own political backyard?
A female prime minister who toppled the prime minister that led her party who had about 15 years earlier been dismissed by the law firm that employed her based on a union slush fund fraud. She had to give her right to practise law as a solicitor but was employed as a staffer by a state premier and the government he led arranged for a police investigation into the slush fund matters to be shelved. As a student activist this women openly expressed hostility towards military veterans and wore a red beret, red scarf and red shoes at Anzac Day marches as a protest while former military personnel were marching. She established the Socialist Forum, an ALP faction for leftists of various types and years later merged the Socialist Forum with the Australian Fabian Society (socialists). While she was prime minister a investigative journalist recommenced inquiries into the AWU slush fund and related matters and the then PM demanded that he be stopped which resulted in him being instructed to drop the inquiry and as a result he resigned from his radio station position and established his own website, Michael Smith News.
The slush fund and part of the related matters was covered at the Trade Union Royal Commission into a lack of governance and widespread corruption. Victoria Police and Western Australia Police reopened fraud investigations into the slush fund but when a new Victoria Labor government took office the inquiries were again placed on the back burner. meanwhile the now former prime minister has been reported in media outlets for granting $100 million to the University of Adelaide (later they appointed her an honorary professor). She arranged around $300 million to be gifted to the education fund associated to the Clinton Foundation and she is now on the board of the education fund. The government she led also gifted the Clinton Foundation directly, all paid by Australian taxpayers.
This women together with her foreign spin doctor from Great Britain crafted a nasty attack on the Australian leader of the opposition, Tony Abbott, claiming that he is a misogynist. The same or similar attack and claims were made earlier in Great Britain against opposition leader David Cameron. The spin doctor worked here on a 457 visa as a foreign worker. While she was prime minister the woman delivered a speech in the Australian Parliament attacking Mr.Abbott and was hailed by sisters as a role model for young women.
Apart from a small band of Australian journalists and MSM outlets most ignored the background history of this women and even went as far as supporting her denials including that in relation to the slush fund matters she was young and naive at the time. But she was a solicitor.
The MSM support of politicians who manipulate for self gain and succeed is sickening.
What about the one in every eight Australians living in poverty, thousands of children homeless? The monies squandered on payments to Clinton’s Foundation, UN IPCC and other recipients of our monies directed to them for personal and other political purposes is unacceptable.
And there is a common link to this den of thieves, international socialism and fellow travellers or hangers on determined to profit as the politicians push to gain control of the world.
We must ask why the MSM fails to behave professionally and expose what is going on.

It’s stories like this that make me feel very unhappy with the world.
But a ray of hope Dennis, we now seem to have a significant news system on the net that is bypassing the mainstream media.
Brexit, Hillxit, Ruddxit. There’s a weight of online info about Hillary that is way too big for it to be ignored.
Maybe others will be forced to take her down to save themselves.

On ABC National radio this morning that a number of countries are questioning Australia’s commitment to reducing emissions, including the New Zealand government.
The Australian government has pointed out that the emissions here have been contained to within the targets set down by the UN IPCC. In fact Australia is one of the few to achieve the goals.
Another example of propaganda aimed at brainwashing voters to persuade us to accept that our tax monies must be handed over to foreigners.

MSM on BAD election monitoring!
3 Nov: HuffPo: Christina Wilkie: Pro-Trump Group Racks Up Volunteer ‘Poll Watchers’ Even As Lawsuits Allege Voter Intimidation
More than 2,700 people have registered so far to serve as volunteer poll watchers for Stop the Steal, a pro-Donald Trump group run by noted dirty trickster Roger Stone…
Even well-designed, scientific exit polls do not capture exact vote totals ― they survey only a small percentage of voters, after all ― and they cannot be used to challenge an election, according to legal experts…
Hearings in the four lawsuits ― filed by the ***state Democratic parties in Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Arizona ― are scheduled to take place throughout the day on Wednesday. They seek emergency measures to prevent these Trump supporters from deploying to polling stations in minority neighborhoods on Election Day.
A fifth lawsuit in New Jersey seeks to hold the Republican National Committee accountable for Trump’s statements to his supporters that they should “watch other communities” on Election Day “because we don’t want this election stolen from us.” Oral arguments in that case are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday…
MSM on GOOD election monitoring:
2 Nov: McClatchy: Teresa Welsh: A Kenyan crowdsourcing tool will monitor the U.S. election for fraud
(Trump) has claimed, despite lack of evidence, that the ballots will be “rigged” against him.
If that does happen, a crowdsourcing tool invented in Kenya is prepared to document it.
Kenya knows a thing or two about contested elections, which some speculate may be a situation the U.S. finds itself in next week. In response to violence following the country’s 2007 presidential contest when Raila Odinga refused to acknowledge the victory of opponent Mwai Kibaki, a group of coders developed a platform to document where protests were occurring. They named the crisis map Ushahidi, which means “testimony” in Swahili…
“There has been unprecedented conversation in the 2016 USA election about issues with the voting process, and even some potential worry of violence on election day,” Ushahidi COO Nat Manning wrote.
???“While there is no evidence of voter fraud in America, there are instances of voter suppression and voting issues on election day. As citizens, let’s raise our voices and help to report any issues on election day as well as celebrate all those who run a tight ship and bring trust to the underpinning of our democratic systems.”…
Worry has also been raised by reports that Russia is attempting to influence the results of the election, favoring a Trump win…
Russia did request permission to post election monitors at American polling places, which the State Department dismissed as a “PR stunt.”…
Ushahidi said it is ***nonpartisan and said it is a citizen-led effort “to ensure transparency.” Citizens can sign up to verify reports on the site and will receive training before Election Day.

About Nathaniel Manning
I think it’s pretty cool that I am an American who works in San Francisco, the capital of technology, for Ushahidi, an incredible organization with origins in Kenya…
In 2012 I was selected as a Presidential Innovation Fellow, working with ***Todd Park – the Chief Technology Officer of the USA… I stayed on after the fellowship as the first Chief Data Officer of USAID. It was thrilling, to say the least. I worked between the White House and USAID to develop tools and strategies for liberating data to fuel entrepreneurship and innovation to solve big problems around the world…
???I used to work for the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) throughout Asia and Australia, where I helped to craft business models that make clean energy financially feasible in emerging nations. I focused on solar in Malaysia, rural electrification in India, waste management in Indonesia, carbon capture and storage in Australia, and energy efficiency in Thailand…
Some random facts that result in good stories:
I danced off Justin Timberlake in a Reggae bar on Frenchman Street in New Orleans (and won).
I meditated with the Dalai Lama at his home monastery in Mcleod Ganj.
I missed my meeting with President Obama because I was on my honeymoon in New Zealand. I think he would have approved…

***Todd Park: Todd Park is a technology advisor based in Silicon Valley for the Obama Administration…In March 2012, President Obama appointed Todd Park to replace Aneesh Chopra as the United States Chief Technology Officer and Assistant to the President…
Inspired by Code for America, Park also started the Presidential Innovation Fellows program, designed to bring top innovators from outside government for focused “tours of duty” with federal innovators on game-changing projects…

I have received three messages to a “Ms (blahblah)” regarding her volunteering to help watch at the polls between 4 and 7 pm next Tuesday, as well as a reminder that she is canvassing tomorrow.
It’s for Hillary. A group supporting Hillary is asking the for same thing the media is denouncing Trump for asking. And people wonder why I am so irritated with the 2016 elections.
I don’t know what organization, local or otherwise, is making the calls, but at least one of the volunteers doesn’t know her own phone number, or didn’t really want to volunteer and made up one that happened to be mine, or the people who registered as a volunteer took it down wrong.
Trump isn’t the only one asking for people to be “watching” the polls. He’s just the only one being zapped for it.

It would seem the DNC’s ability to persuade the public, is extremely poor —note those who think the Russians are involved is only 10%.
51
That Russian yarn only lasted 24 hours before it was scuttled, except over at Mother Jones.
A classical Marxist would say the media is in the hands of the elite, its a means of production which disseminates the ideas and values of the ruling class. In this way the media deny alternative views (which is clearly visible in the climate change non debate) and the masses are inflicted with a false consciousness.
This is true to a point, but the communications revolution is changing everything, the people have become more skeptical of the MSM as the interwebs developed. Marx would be astonished at the gradual evolution
31
They have been going for weeks, if not months, about the Russians / Russian hackers/ Trump’s supposed links to Russia etc.

Putin and Xi can deal with Trump.

Maybe they decided to not provoke President Putin, after all he did point out that man-made global warming is a fraud last year. Maybe the MSM are afraid that he will produce damning evidence and sink the agenda completely?

With a Left the mindset is generally ‘I know best’.
They know what is the correct amount of Social Justice. They know what is best for the planet. They know what is best for you.
Anyone who disagrees with them is wrong.
A Right generally knows what is best for THEM. You might call them selfish, or you might call them realistic and pragmatic. Despite what the Left want to believe, they are very open to other people’s points of view and opinions, they just feel very comfortable with disagreeing with you. A Right doesn’t have to have the ‘correct’ point of view on life, they just need to have the one that successfully let’s them fed their family and pay their own bills.
So this is the problem with the Left. They are ALWAYS correct because They Know Best. This core belief that they are correct and know what is best for the world is what drives them. Ever wondered why all the little activist groups are Left? Because for a Left pushing the Truth is what is important for them. It literally drives them. A Right finds an issue amusing, but not a lifestyle.
So a Left cannot accept that someone disagrees. It just simply doesn’t happen. Anyone who disagrees is Wrong! If someone else actually had a valid argument it would mean that everything a Left has based their life around must be questioned.
Question a Right and they might agree with you but state that doesn’t work for them personally.
Question a Left and you are questioning EVERYTHING they believe in.
So when you get situations like this, where people like Trump (who is clearly Wrong) have masses of support then they refuse to accept it. Trump and his supporters are simply just Wrong. They is all there is to it.
100
I disagree with you. No, honestly I totally agree with you; I was just demonstrating my ability to disagree you.
For some reason the name Lewandowski kept echoing in my mind.

Didn’t think much of the man until that audio tape came out where he felt compelled to tell the truth to a guy named Bush. He wanted to present himself as a Ladies man but admitted that he tried and failed with the woman that Bush asked him about. You would never see Hillary admit to any failure no matter how obvious. Why didn’t he just say “Been there. Done that” when Bush asked him about the woman? It sure would have fit his narrative but he seems to be obligated to the truth no matter how it makes him look.

exit polling you can believe in!!!
3 Nov: Forbes: Karlyn Bowman: Are Exit Polls Reliable?
Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International will conduct this year’s poll for the National Election Pool, a consortium of the five major networks (***ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CNN) and the Associated Press***. About 3,000 people will be involved in the 50-state effort, and more than 100,000 voters will be surveyed…
Because many Americans will vote absentee or early–possibly as many as a third this year–the exit pollsters also survey people before Election Day to ask whether they have voted and, if so, how. Those results are combined with the results collected on Election Day. Edison then provides its estimates and the rest of the exit poll data to the consortium members; the desk analysts at the networks review it and decide when to call an election…
But exit polls aren’t always reliable, and the controversy surrounding the 2000 election is the most infamous example. The exit pollsters and news organizations awarded Florida to Al Gore before the polls closed and then retracted it. Later, the networks (but not the exit pollsters) awarded Florida to George W. Bush–and then retracted that call, too.
There was a lot of blame to go around. Absentee votes were undercounted, and the election model was flawed. A simple mistake in data entry inflated Gore’s vote. Fierce network competition to be the first to call the contest triggered the premature calls. After the election, the networks vowed not to release results in any state until all the polls in that state had closed…
The machinery was overhauled for the 2002 elections, but that year, massive technical failures botched exit poll reporting. In 2004, and again in 2006, the exit poll overstated Democrats’ performance…
This problem was due, according to a post-election analysis by Mitofsky, “to Kerry voters participating in the exit polls at a higher rate than Bush voters.” …
Can these past problems be overcome on Tuesday night? To compensate for the potential oversampling of Democrats, Edison/Mitofsky have improved interviewer training and are using fewer young interviewers. They have compromised with states that had kept interviewers far from the polling locations, which made data collection difficult. And as in 2006, the networks won’t get the data until 5 p.m., which will help to prevent the kind of leaks that suggested–too early–that Kerry would win in 2004. Additional safeguards will check the poll against actual votes. These changes should improve the reliability of the only tool we have to look at the views and values of actual voters and how they have changed over time.

2 Nov: Hampton University’s CPP Latest Poll Shows Virginia Voter Shift from Clinton to Trump Post Email Investigation
Democratic Presidential nominee Clinton had a two point lead before the email news story broke on Friday Oct. 28. She is now trailing three points behind Republican Presidential nominee Trump.
With only six days left before the November Presidential election, Trump has jumped ahead of Clinton, erasing a 12 point deficit reported by the CPP in early October…
When Virginians were asked if the election were held today, 44 percent of those surveyed would vote for Trump and 41 percent would choose Clinton, while a high percentage of voters remain undecided (15 percent). This is a major shift from just one month ago when Clinton led Trump by 12 points…
It must be noted that the poll began on Wednesday, Oct. 26, with 13 days to go before the election. During this time, the news story about the FBI reopening the investigation into email servers used by Clinton was released on Friday, October 28th. While details were scarce, the news did have an impact on the data collected during this time…

2 Nov: UK Independent: Adam Withnall: One of Hillary Clinton’s worst fears comes true as black turnout drops
Democrats hope Ms Clinton’s strength in other demographics can make up for post-Obama dip
The dip in African-American turnout has been observed in some key swing states, which will hold the key to deciding the election on 8 November.
A CNN analysis of the demographics of the 24.4 million Americans who had already cast their votes by Wednesday morning suggested Republicans were in a better position than they were in previous presidential elections in Florida, Iowa, ***North Carolina and Ohio…
The dip was particularly evident in Florida, the largest and most important of the swing states in terms of electoral college votes…
3 Nov: Business Insider: Maxwell Tani: ‘The fate of the world rests on your shoulders’
President Barack Obama delivered an impassioned plea to voters in North Carolina to vote next week and reject the candidacy of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
“We won’t win this election, potentially, if we don’t win North Carolina,” he said during a campaign rally for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. “I hate to put a little pressure on you, but the fate of the republic rests on your shoulders. The fate of the world is teetering.”…
With just one week until the general election, the Clinton campaign has deployed Obama to key battleground states including Ohio, North Carolina, and Florida in hopes that he can gin up Democratic turnout.
Despite strong early vote rates in states like Nevada, the president worried that black voter turnout is “not as solid as it needs to be” in other battleground states like Florida.

As the polls in the presidential race tighten, the mood in Hollywood this week is one of concern, worry and even abject fear — and it all centers on one question: Could Donald Trump pull off an upset on Tuesday?
In an industry that leans heavily to the left, for many it’s a nightmare scenario…
Some industry figures say they are losing sleep. Others say that business conversations inevitably turn to the latest polls or of other potential “bombshells.” Others who haven’t warmed up to Clinton say that they fear getting into political conversations at all.
“I’m f**king terrified,” said writer-director Adam McKay, via email. “If Trump were to win we will see a dismantling of our democracy we cannot imagine. PHOTO: Victoria is targeting 5,400 megawatts of renewable capacity by 2025 — 30 per cent more than Hazelwood (Reuters)
In the short-term, the loss of generation from Hazelwood will see Victoria import more energy from other states — most likely from cleaner black-coal-powered stations in New South Wales and Queensland.
Nevertheless, Mr McConnell said there was still a very small chance of supply shortfall in Victoria.
“We’re talking about the peaks of peaks — the super hot sunny days in summer, where you could have a supply shortfall,” he said.”
So, where will SA get electricity from during peak deman periods I ask?

Hillary Clinton led Republican Donald Trump by 6 percentage points among likely voters, according to a Reuters/Ipsos daily tracking poll released on Wednesday, the same advantage the Democratic presidential nominee held before an FBI announcement that reignited the controversy about her email practices.

2 Nov: GatewayPundit: Jim Hoft: DONALD TRUMP Leads by 5 Points in Latest North Carolina Poll
***PIC: Trump continues to draw huge crowds in rally after rally like this one in Miami on Wednesday (Mary Q.)
Via Trafalgar Group—
A new North Carolina Presidential poll of likely voters was released today, showing Donald Trump widening his lead over Hillary Clinton. The Trafalgar Group (TFG), a national political consulting and public relations firm, conducted the poll October 27th through November 1st.
The presidential results show Donald Trump leading with 49.13%, Hillary Clinton 44.16%…
TFG surveyed 1,154 likely general election voters using a random sample of registered voters in North Carolina. The survey was stratified to reflect the election demographics in North Carolina. The margin of error is +/- 2.88.
Commenting on the survey, TFG Senior Strategist Robert Cahaly said, “It’s our belief that there is a significant “Brexit” type undercurrent of support for Trump that many polls are not capturing…
In our Ohio, Florida, and this North Carolina survey we find a consistent pattern of Clinton support dropping 5-6% while Trump support increases 4.5-5.5% for this question…
“Lastly we have noted that there will likely be a major influx of participation from registered voters who haven’t voted since 2006 or before. This mobilization is reminiscent to the Obama turnout of 2008. These voters’ primary motivation is the rejection of the establishment, just as the Obama ’08 voters who rejected the establishment of that time.”…
The Trafalgar Group conducted many of the most accurate GOP polls in the 2016 Primary, most notably South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida in the southeast, as well as Michigan, Ohio, Kansas, and Louisiana…

There are several reasons, and they tend to reinforce one another over time. (I’m writing from within an American context.)
First, journalism, despite its supposed emphasis on the who-what-when-where-why of the “news” it “reports,” is merely one more “expressive trade.” Those who go into the expressive trades are overwhelmingly dominated by their emotions. Therefore, they respond to what they see and hear emotionally above all else – and the Democrats have learned how to pander to that.
Second, reporters are as lazy as anyone else. They’re prefer that someone else do the work, if that’s at all possible. This is another characteristic the Left has learned to exploit. The key concept is access. Democrats have gone out of their way to grant reporters access to them on highly favorable terms. Republicans have tended to maintain a far higher degree of personal and professional reserve.
Third, journalists want to think of themselves as a force for good. Thus, if one side can effectively color the other as evil, the press will naturally favor the “good guys.” Among other things, that helps them to write “stories” with a clear moral vector. (As a writer of fiction, I object to this as an encroachment on my guild’s territory.) The Democrats have done this, often slanderously, for decades – in the U.S., since the Wilson Administration. Once again, the Republicans have mounted no countermeasure of consequence.
These three factors have operated for a century at least, each potentiating the others as time has passed. In consequence, today’s “journalist” is a social-justice crusader who knows little and understands less about political dynamics, Constitutional law, economics, demographics, and general human nature. It’s not likely to change any time soon.

… political dynamics, Constitutional law, economics, demographics, and general human nature
You need to include scientifically illiterate and mathematically innumerate in that list.
You are correct, of course, but the term to cover the “journo attitude” is Noble Cause Corruption. They do indeed believe that access to the corridors of power makes them players without the messy irritation of running for election.

3 Nov: Springfield News-Sun: Laura A. Bischoff: New poll: Donald Trump up 5 over Hillary Clinton in Ohio
Republican Donald Trump holds a 5-point lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton in Ohio, where her support among women is collapsing, according to a new poll released Wednesday by Quinnipiac University.
If the election were today, Trump would get 46 percent to Clinton’s 41 percent…
“No one has been elected president since 1960 without carrying two of the key swing states, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. And, this year, North Carolina has been added to the mix. All four of these key states remain close entering the final days,” Brown said in a written statement. “Florida, which has the largest cache of electoral votes, is a virtual tie and North Carolina is almost as close. Donald Trump’s strength is with independent voters.”…
Just 17 days ago, the same poll showed the race tied 45-45 in Ohio…

3 Nov: InvestorsBusinessDaily: Ed Carson: With Trump, Clinton Deadlocked, Race Is In ‘Brexit’ Zone: IBD/TIPP Poll
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton remained tied at 44% with the election just four days away, according to the latest IBD/TIPP Presidential Election Tracking Poll…
Trump, for his part, has vowed to pull off “Brexit times five.” And he’s riding a similar populist wave.
“In both the Brexit vote and the U.S. presidential campaign, a surge in populist sentiment has occurred within each electorate,” said Ragavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, which runs the IBD/TIPP poll.
On both sides of the Atlantic, a large and growing share of voters has felt ignored by the political establishment and views immigration and globalization with suspicion.
Brexit pollsters failed to realize how strongly working class voters would turn out to vote against staying in the EU.
Trump poses similar challenges because he attracts and repels different groups than a typical Republican nominee. He’s going to win the white working class by huge margins, but will that offset weakness among college graduates and other groups?

Your tone presumes you are certain of the outcome and I agree, Mal is set in his views despite the evidence.
So, Mal will conclude that the CSIRO ( and NASA etc ) are wrong and/or corrupt without any of his beloved empirical data to support his claims. He doesn’t have the education to interpret the evidence and would be better served if he had some relevant experts to advise him rather than just a biologist,a geologist and a geographer. The CSIRO can present him evidence until they are blue in the face and he’ll just say he doesn’t believe it, give me more.

what an Orwellian headline from Reuters, especially given what’s in the actual story!
2 Nov: Reuters: Amanda Becker: Hillary Clinton: Wall Street’s favorite enemy
And yet, Wall Street appears unperturbed by the prospect of a Clinton presidency. In fact, the banking industry has supported Clinton with buckets of cash and stocks have sold off on days when the Clinton campaign stumbles. Privately, bankers say that they trust her to remain a pragmatist who will keep the current regulatory regime laid down by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform legislation passed in 2010.
“I don’t think Clinton wakes up thinking about Wall Street,” one senior banking industry lobbyist said.
There are hints in apparently leaked email discussions among Clinton’s campaign staff that bankers are not far off the mark when they count on her to tread lightly.
Pressed during the campaign by progressive Democrats to call for a revival of the Glass-Steagall Act that would require separation of commercial and investment banking, Clinton ultimately refused…
Ultimately, what bankers most like about Clinton is that she is not Donald Trump.
Many financiers fear her unorthodox Republican rival could disrupt global trade, damage geopolitical relationships and rattle markets, industry analysts and participants say…
Trump’s candidacy has upended traditional political alliances and bankers that usually contribute more to the Republicans have been flinging money at Clinton.
Employees of the 17 largest bank holding companies and their subsidiaries have been sending her $10 for every $1 they contributed to Trump, according to a Reuters analysis…
DEVIL YOU KNOW
People who work for hedge funds and private equity firms have contributed more than $56 million to Clinton’s presidential campaign and the supporting groups that face no legal cap on donations. Trump’s campaign and related groups received just $243,000 from donors in the same sector…
“It’s basically going with the devil you know over the devil you don’t,” said Brian Gardner, a managing director of New York investment firm Keefe Bruyette & Woods. What also helped, he said, was the familiarity with Hillary and Bill Clinton dating back to the 1990s when her husband was president and ushered in a period of financial deregulation.
“There is a closeness and a comfort level between the titans on Wall Street and the Clintons,” he said.

even more Orwellian!
1 Nov: NY Daily News Editorial: DAMN RIGHT, We’re With HER!
Daily News doubles down on endorsement of Clinton for President — it’s that important
We do so with faith that Clinton would be a transformative leader for the good, far beyond making history as the first female President.
And we do so with fact-based, fearful conviction that Donald Trump would lead a nation divided against itself, with catastrophic consequences at home and abroad.
Lost in a campaign distorted by Trump’s ego-driven demagoguery is the indisputable truth that Clinton’s instincts, skills and programs are an excellent match for the challenges of a uniquely frightening American moment…
The 320 million people of this land tear at one another in a battle to reclaim their destiny from a government that, put bluntly, screwed them on a bipartisan basis…
Now comes a reckoning that made vengeful soulmates of the unlikely Bernie Sanders and the ungodly Trump. Vessels for white-hot anger, the socialist and the tax-evading billionaire built their candidacies on destroying a “rigged” system as champion of its victims.
But revenge for the sake of revenge – which is the heart of Trump’s campaign – would be madness as the chief motivator for selecting the custodian of the world’s shining-star democracy, largest economy and mightiest military.
On Oct. 20, the Daily News Editorial Board published the longest editorial in its 97-year history – a call for burying Trump in a landslide. We needed 7,500 words to document his unfitness for the presidency as an ignorant and divisive “liar, thief, bully, hypocrite, sexual victimizer and unhinged, self-adoring demagogue.”…
Most recently, she has been dogged by overhyped concerns about the Clinton Foundation (which have turned up not a single quid pro quo of any significance), as well as by legitimate criticism of her use of a homebrew computer server for official emails.
Generally, though, Clinton’s critics convict her of the crime of being a politician…
There are three primary prescriptions for breaking the nation’s roiling fever: ***jobs, jobs and jobs…
???Way up the ladder, Wall Street would do swimmingly under Trump…

***”Jobs, jobs, jobs”, has been a regular feature of Trump’s speeches all year, & Daily News has Trump as Wall Street’s best friend? what next?

3 Nov: Guardian: Brexit to require parliamentary approval in setback for Theresa May
Government to appeal to supreme court against judgment that MPs rather than government must trigger article 50
by Owen Bowcott and Jessica Elgot
Parliament alone has the power to trigger Brexit by notifying Brussels of the UK’s intention to leave the European Union, the high court has ruled.
The judgment (pdf)(LINK), delivered by the lord chief justice, Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd, is likely to slow the pace of Britain’s departure from the EU and is a huge setback for Theresa May, who had insisted the government alone would decide when to trigger the process.
The lord chief justice said that “the most fundamental rule of the UK constitution is that parliament is sovereign”.
A government spokesman said that ministers would appeal to the supreme court against the decision. The hearing will take place on 7-8 December…READ ALL

Oh this is a classic. I’m sure they actually teach this on journalism classes. The present-day journalists are largely schooled to do that kind of trickstering.
I’m just a bit confused; what media I should read to get some unbiased views?
41
Greetings, Wert,
You ask, ‘ … what media should I read to get some unbiased views?’ The truth is that every last one of us are biased, in some way. I’m biased (I’m what is known as a “climate sceptic” or “d-e-n-i-e-r”); Jo and her husband Dr. David Evans are biased; Anthony Watts is biased; Al Gore is biased … … …
You get the idea. The trick is to know, a priori, what the bias is, then take the information, glean what you can from it, stash it into your memory cells for recall at the appropriate time, and be able to process it with other information. Depending on your level of scientific literacy, you should be able to sift, analyze, and process the biased information you receive into a cogent set of beliefs (at which point you become ‘biased’ yourself). In-and-of-itself, bias is NOT necessarily a bad thing. If I am biased to accept Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation, then I would plan to use it to send a probe to Mars, throw a ball into basket from a distance of eight metres, etc.
A wise man once told me that the only thing no one can ever take away from you is knowledge. People can take your money, your time, your freedom, but they can never take what you know. Never stop learning; knowing how to learn is one’s greatest asset. Enjoy the journey, and spend lots of time here at Jo’s place.
Vlad the Impaler
130
Vlad detailed it very well. I would add that you should seek those who SAY they are biased, and present their bias up front. Then you know the slant you will get. Shun those who claim to be unbiased as they are trying to deceive you. If they are going to lie to you about their bias, they are going to lie to you about everything.

7 points ahead:
3 Nov: WRAL: Matthew Burns: WRAL poll: Trump charges ahead in North Carolina
SurveyUSA polled 659 people statewide Friday through Monday who have already cast their ballots or are likely to vote in the election and found Trump with a 51 to 44 percent lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.9 percentage points.
In a WRAL News poll released three weeks ago, Clinton led Trump 46 to 44 percent…
The latest poll was conducted after the FBI notified members of Congress that it was reopening an investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state…
Breaking down the results, Trump has flipped the gender gap in recent weeks, cutting Clinton’s 12-point lead among women down to 7 points while widening his dominance among male voters from 9 points to 23 points. He also has erased her lead among voters 50 and older, moving from a 5-point deficit to an 11-point advantage, while maintaining his slight lead among voters ages 18 to 49…
At this late date, few voters say they might change their minds…
http://www.wral.com/wral-poll-trump-charges-ahead-in-nc/16183780/
however, BIG MSM aren’t backing down:
1 hr ago: Tweet: Matthew Dowd/ABC: National polls pick up contours of the race first. State polls are lagging indicators. U will see improvement for Clinton in states by Mon
reply from poll analyst, Bill Mitchell: Wait, and you know this HOW? It’s only Thursday. Nothing but horrible news for HRC coming out. I guess you’ve already decided the result?
Bill Mitchell latest tweets:
So ABC has gone from D+10 to D+7 and yet Hillary has SURGED 3 points despite nothing but HORRIBLE news? Sure ABC, sure…
How is ABC faking a 2 point lead for Hillary despite just a D+7 sample? They dropped Trump from +15 to +7 w/ I’s and to only 6 w/ blacks…
The ABC Tracking poll has an advantage. No reputation to protect. It’s just a new tracking poll. If they miss by 8 points, who cares?…
So in 2 days of purely HORRIBLE news for Hillary, the ABC poll has SURGED her 3 points by sneakily collapsing subgroups…
IBD is holding the Trump surge back as long as they can. By election day, even they will probably be at Trump +4.
So on IBD, if we go from a D+8 sample to a D+4 sample but the poll remains the same, Trump is really losing ground – and we know he isn’t.
IBD still playing games with the sample. They have now walked their D+8 sample back to a D+4 sample, yet the poll remains magically tied…
—-
Mitchell hasn’t tackled the new CBS/NYT poll at time of posting this, and I can’t see anywhere on CBS or NYT what the sampling was. of course, National polls mean little, so who cares, but it looks like MSM have decided to go down with Clinton, if necessary, or they are confident the machines will be magically fractioned:

3 Nov: Politico: The Economist endorses Clinton: She’s ‘a better candidate than she seems’
By Louis Nelson
The Economist, the Europe-focused news magazine, has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, writing in its Nov. 5 print edition that the former secretary of state is “a better candidate than she seems and better suited to cope with the awful, broken state of Washington politics than her critics will admit.”
While the endorsement’s writers offered warm praise of Clinton’s candidacy, they also wrote that their choice was made much easier given the alternative of Donald Trump in the White House…
Her “prosaic style combined with gradualism and hard work could make for a more successful presidency than her critics allow,” the magazine wrote…

3 Nov: Rasmussen: White House Watch: Trump Takes The Lead
Republican Donald Trump has a three-point lead in Rasmussen Reports’ White House Watch survey. Among voters who are certain how they will vote, Trump now has over 50% support.
The latest national telephone and online survey of Likely U.S. Voters shows Trump leading Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton 45% to 42%.
Clinton and Trump have been tied for the previous two days. This is the first time Trump’s been ahead in the White House Watch in nearly two weeks, but it remains to be seen whether this is the start of a trend or a one-day hiccup…
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2016/white_house_watch_nov3
Tweet Brad Trawick: Rasmussen has a D+4 Sample. Trump +14 with Independents and at 23% with black vote.
reply Bill Mitchell: If this is true, Trump will win in a landslide. These numbers are OUTSTANDING for him. Rasmussen will go Trump +5 tomorrow if this holds.
Bill Mitchell tweets:
Rasmussen gives Trump 23% of black vote. ABC gives him 6%. Somebody is wrong
Hint: It’s ABC….
So while Trump collapsing with Independents in the ABC poll, he surges with Independents in Rasmussen…
Two new polls showing Trump up 5 and 7 in NC. Media still reporting state as “dead heat”…
I continue to hold my position that the Dem Leadership and Media know Hillary has already lost. All of this spin is for downballot voting…
I am sticking with my prediction of a week ago. Trump wins by 5-6 points. Would be higher but I’m making allowances for cheating…

108% of voting population endorses Obama
A poll watcher told WND up to 10 percent of the ballots cast at a polling station in Pennsylvania reverted to a default, which gave Barack Obama a vote no matter who the voter had selected. The incident took place in the state where officials claimed Obama got a total of 19,605 votes in 59 voting divisions to zero for Mitt Romney and not far from the 100 precincts in Ohio where Obama got 99 percent of the vote, a feat not even achieved by third-world dictators. It was in Upper Macungie Township, near Allentown, Pa., where an auditor, Robert Ashcroft, was dispatched by Republicans to monitor the vote on Election Day. He said the software he observed would “change the selection back to default – to Obama.”…

Roy,because he’s not a “Politician”
30
True, he’s not a politician. But I would argue that he needed to be, at least in large measure, a politician. If he had bothered to better understand the world he was trying to get into he might be assured of becoming the next president at this point in the race. Using political strategy and tactics need not be dishonest or compromise his ability to get his agenda accomplished.
00
Why must he be a better politician? I have had that thrown at me several times, and not a single time has anyone been able to say what is so special about a politician other than the uncanny ability to lie badly and repeatedly.
I will concede that playing politics often gets people elected. But when was the last time you saw a politician and said “I want to be him/her/it!”? The truth of the matter is that politicians are pretty worthless. They know how to get elected. But I cannot name a single on in government today that knows how to govern. Dictate, yes. Govern, no.
00
Phil,
I guess we’ll need to agree to disagree. But like it or not, Trump is trying to enter the world of politics. He cannot escape being in that world. He need not do it the wrong way but he’s absolutely going to have to do it — politics. And my friend, I think you know it as well as I do.
When he enters the world of the White House he’s going to need the help of congress and many others if he’s to get anywhere. And I have not the slightest doubt that he has alienated (actually pissed off if the truth be known) many of the very people whose cooperation he will need to get his agenda accomplished. How will they behave in that situation. I know my first instinct would be to buck him in any way I could. That’s human nature.
I understand the loathing people have for politics. I can’t stand much of it myself. But when I’ve dealt with the local government, the county, I didn’t rush in with a cannon and start shooting at them. I worked to build a relationship with the supervisor who represents me and when I made my plea for what I think was right I kept my presentation civil and polite. I was definite in what I was trying to get across and I had the help and support of someone on the board of supervisors. Between us we made it work.*** And I can’t understand why a man who has been so successful at putting together large projects requiring the cooperation of many people, including at least local government agencies, not all of whom would be agreeing with what he wants can’t translate his knowledge of how to navigate that world into a good understanding of how to navigate the environment of Washington DC. Maybe he thinks he can pay his way around the roadblocks with his great fortune? I got some bad news for him. That ain’t legal and he’ll be even worse off.
Jo doesn’t tolerate name calling and such nonsense on this blog, just try it an I think you’ll see I’m right. I know because she came down hard on me once for doing it. No one saw most of that but I had to eat some humble pie. There’s a reason for that. And donald Trump went on about how evil Hillary is. Well, whe may be. But he pissed off everyone who was even thinking about voting for her. How does he get those people back into his camp?
I’ve made myself unpopular and certainly risked my credibility trying to get this point across.
This weekend is supposed to be Trump’s big push to get to the electoral votes he needs. I hope it works.
00
*** And then 3 months later a different supervisor decided he wanted to change his original vote and got it back on the agenda for a revote. His change would have killed what we worked for and then another supervisor followed his change and it all went down he drain with no hope of getting back to what we worked so hard for.
So, yes, politics sucks. But what would you put in place of it? Hand to hand combat?
00
What you see as negative, I see as honesty. The “hillary voters” would never vote for him even if he was Mitt Romney. I see that in comments where they refuse to acknowledge the fact that she broke the law (Comey just said no prosecutor would take the case, not that he did not believe she had broken the law).
The difference between the local supervisors and the Feds is I can work with the locals. They are mostly still citizen politicians. The feds however are in a different class and they forget who votes for them. You may remember Cantor. Well, I was one of the reasons he is gone now.
As for “doing anything”. I take the advice of Thomas Jefferson: “That government is best which governs least.”
So if he does NOTHING other than appoint some judges, that is better than doing things for the sake of doing things.
00

A new ***Heat Street/Rasmussen Reports telephone and online survey of Likely Utah Voters finds Trump with 42% support to Democrat Hillary Clinton’s 31%. Republican-turned-Independent candidate Evan McMullin has faded to 21%…
(SUUURE!) Last week, it was Trump 32%, McMullin 29%, Clinton 28%. The week before that, Trump held a negligible 30% lead over McMullin (29%)…
Sixty-one percent (61%) of Utah Republicans now say their party should not endorse McMullin instead of Trump. That compares to 49% last week…
Trump has a sizable lead among men and leads by three among women…

funny thing is, I saw these new figures with a pic of the Rasmussen article on some twitter page, but showing the opening line as:
“Donald Trump is still slightly ahead in reliably Republican Utah”
did a google search & the link/result that got me to the article above with Trump “safely” ahead by 11 points, also showed the “slightly ahead” line in the google summary.
the propaganda never ends.

PLUS
On August 27, 2015, an email from Lanny Davis, special counsel to President Bill Clinton, and spokesperson for the President and the White House on matters concerning campaign-finance investigations and other legal issues, appears to suggest that both Fox news and Megyn Kelly were part of the campaign’s pre-coordination with journalists. Davis tells Jen Palmieri the following “personal” thoughts, which suggest getting a guarantee from Megyn Kelly that she won’t be “tough on Hillary” in a proposed interview – which could be a “ratings and media bonanza” – meant to explain why Hillary “wiped” her server…READ ALL

feeling the heat of a Trump win:
3 Nov: The Hill: Chatter grows that Ryan could step down
Four House Republicans, including a senior lawmaker close to leadership, told The Hill they expect Ryan to step down after Tuesday’s elections, arguing that he faces a daunting path to the 218 votes he needs to win a full two-year term leading the House GOP.
Aides to the Wisconsin Republican insist he isn’t going anywhere and that he’s completely focused right now on protecting the GOP’s majority in the lower chamber…
But even some Ryan allies are conceding that the Speaker now finds himself in an untenable position after just a year on the job.
It’s not just the usual Freedom Caucus members who are pushing for change at the top; some more mainstream Republicans from safe GOP districts could pull their support over Ryan’s handling of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, lawmakers said.
The brash New York real estate mogul is enormously popular in many of these districts, but Ryan stopped actively supporting Trump after a recording surfaced of him talking in 2005 about groping and kissing women…
“Those who talk to Paul say he is all in to stay Speaker,” the lawmaker continued. “But if you talk to members from the South, many will struggle to vote for him — even though they like him — because their constituents are furious” over his treatment of Trump…
GOP sources said Ryan helped himself this week when he announced that he cast an early ballot for Trump…
http://thehill.com/homenews/house/304245-chatter-grows-that-ryan-could-step-down
above is very lengthy, yet doesn’t mention another reason Republican voters are angry with Ryan, who wonder whether his anti-Trump position is, in any way, connected to his relative being considered by Democrats to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court:

3 Nov: ReadConservatives: CNN In Huge Trouble After Being Caught Editing Trump’s Words To Change What He Said!
The main stream media has been doing this over this whole election!
CNN released an article with the following headline “Donald Trump“ , skeptical of mail-in balloting, encourages voting more than once if necessary”.
The article quotes him saying “If you go to university center, they’ll give you a new ballot, they’ll void your old ballot, in some places they do that four or five times, so by tomorrow, almost everyone will have their new ballots in.”
However this is what he really said, “If you go to university center, they’ll give you a new ballot, they’ll void your old ballot. They’ll give you a new ballot, and you can go out and make sure it get’s in. Now in some places, they do that four or five times, but we don’t do that. So by tomorrow, almost everyone will have their new ballots in.”…

3 Nov: FiveThirtyEight: Nate Silver: Why Clinton’s Position is Worse Than Obama’s
There’s been a potential breach of Hillary Clinton’s electoral firewall. And it’s come in New Hampshire, a state that we said a couple of weeks ago could be a good indicator of a Donald Trump comeback because of its large number of swing voters. Three new polls of New Hampshire released today showed a tied race, Trump ahead by 1 percentage point and Trump up by 5…
If Clinton lost New Hampshire but won her other firewall states, each candidate would finish with 269 electoral votes, taking the election to the House of Representatives. Or maybe not — if Clinton also lost the 2nd Congressional District of Maine, where polls show a tight race and where the demographics are unfavorable to her, Trump would win the Electoral College 270-268, probably despite losing the popular…
Couldn’t Clinton win Nevada to make up for the loss of New Hampshire? Or Florida? Or North Carolina? Well… of course she could. All those states remain highly competitive. The point, as we’ve said before, is just that Clinton’s so-called firewall is not very robust…

Nate Silver is now calling it a tight race. Meaning he is Agenda polling again so a Hillary win does not stink to high heaven.
The North Carolina data does not pass the smell test.
Hillary has a problem in North Carolina because it is “Mixed Paper Ballot and DREs with VVPAT”
DRE – Direct Recording Electronic Voting Machines
VVPAT – Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail Printers
And Pat McCrory is a Republican and fairly honest.

I should also add that Research Triangle Park is heavy tech and was decimated by the H1b visas that ousted Americans. Believe me, I have gotten an earful on H1b visas and bad trade deals over the years.
I can see these young savvy voters going Trump, Johnson, or Still but #NEVERHILLARY.
The fact Assange has gone after Hillary not Trump is going to leave a major impression on the Techno types.

Sundance (The Conservative Treehouse) does a really good job on analyzing US politics and the political moves behind the headlines.
He alerted people to the ‘splitter strategy’ fielding 17 candidates so there was no hope of one candidate getting a majority and thus allowing the GOP elite to pick who we got (Jeb Bush) on the second ballot when the delegates were free to vote as they please (or were bribed to as explained by someone whose relatives were brided in another election.) Trump put a spike in their plans and they have not forgiven him.

3 Nov: ZeroHedge: Tyler Durden: Latest WikiLeaks Dump Includes Full List Of Fees From Clinton Global Initiative Donors
The latest WikiLeaks dump from this morning includes a very detailed list of 2012/2013 donors to the Clinton Global Initiative. Like the donors to the Clinton Foundation (which we reviewed here), the list is a who’s who of wall street banks, giant energy corporations, chemical conglomerates and multi-national pharmas…you know, all the “shady” corporations that you’ve been told were in bed with the Republicans.

3 Nov: Sacramento Bee: Christopher Cadelago: Before Democratic megadonor Tom Steyer criticized Donald Trump, he invested in his casinos
Steyer, a managing partner at the hedge fund Farallon Capital Management until 2012, reported a $558,000 investment in the gambling and hospitality company that operated the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J., according to a review of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission records. Trump once referred to it as “the eighth wonder of the world.”…
Farallon also held shares in other gambling interests valued at a few hundred million dollars over the years, including Mandalay Resort Group, Station Casinos and Anchor Gaming. “These businesses provided perfectly legal and legitimate gaming options for adults,” Duran said…
The Sacramento Bee reported last month that Steyer, starring in a pair of TV ads and co-chairing a California ballot measure to raise state tobacco taxes, invested millions of dollars in tobacco companies. Steyer, who has contributed $11.3 million to passing Proposition 56, the $2 per-pack tax, said he opposed Farallon’s investment in tobacco and insisted on a vote of the firm’s partners. Steyer lost, allowing Farallon’s stake in tobacco to proceed, Duran said…
Trump finally attacked Steyer at a rally last month in Florida, charging that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has received millions of dollars from wealthy donors “who want to shut down American energy altogether.”
“Radical activists like Tom Steyer have promised to spend more than $70 million this election to get Clinton and Democrats like her elected,” Trump told the cheering audience in Panama City. “In return, Clinton wants to shut down energy production all across the United States. Wait until you see your energy bills.”…

2 Nov: HuffPo: Cesar Vargas: Why I Can No Longer Support Hillary Clinton
It took me a long time to write this. I had to dig deep into my being to come up with these words. I’m recanting my endorsement of Hillary Clinton for the presidency.
I’m aware of how vindictive Clintonians can be. I’m not speaking about the Clintons themselves, but of those surrounding them…
There has been no repudiation, let alone denunciation, of what was said in those emails-just denial, finger pointing, and doublespeak. To appoint the very same folks who carried out many malicious behaviors to tip the scales for Hillary is just as unpardonable. Why reward unethical behavior? It’s mind-boggling…
I’m not telling you not to vote for her. I’m aware of what is at stake. The Supreme Court and a petulant man-child that might quicken the apocalypse, I know. I’m telling you that I’m no longer endorsing her. Vote with your conscience. Vote strategically. Or don’t. It’s your prerogative.
I’ve seen how our heroes, activists, journalists, and celebrities have completely sold their souls to support something no person with an iota of morality would do…

A joint poll from NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Marist College put Trump up over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton 49 percent to 40 percent among likely voters in Texas…
A series of October polls appeared to show a closer race than usual in Texas, with several pointing to a low single-digit lead for Trump in the state. Those results began turning heads in Texas and around the country, as Democrats eyed an unexpected opportunity to pick off the solidly red Republican stronghold.
But recent figures suggest the state may be returning closer to the position most observers expected before the race began…
A poll earlier this week from CBS 11/Dixie Strategies showed Trump surging to a 12-point lead in Texas…
