**Auroras being seen now in places like Adelaide Hills, Blue Mountains, Australind WA, Glenburnie, SA, Canberra, even Adelaide itself?**
Worth poking a head outside if you are near a dark spot. This is 12:20pm EST and may last a couple of hours. Moon is “unfortunate”, but the Glendale App is in a good zone predicting IMF is nice for five hours. People are excited in the SpaceWeatherLive forum. Nullschool suggests people may get lucky, even though auroras are fickle, changeable things.
Looks like simple plurals are still causing great problems to the author – auroras!
[Fingers type it without cortical involvement. Brain is wondering what 143GW means in relation to space weather. But fixed thanks. — Jo]

While we’re nitpicking, 12:20pm is early afternoon. Try am.

:… auroras are fickle, changeable things.”
Thus, one might not want to travel far from home to view.
Note: iPhone and other digital cameras will “see” more than the human eye. Not my area of expertise, so another two or a dozen might offer more info.
30
I took a look at the night sky when this was first posted, about 7 hours ago,
Viewing conditions are not good where I live in Melbourne. I was unable to see the aurora.
I will keep a watch on the BOM Aurora site over the rest of the week when I may be in a better location,
https://www.sws.bom.gov.au/Aurora
The Kaus index shows the Aurora strength for our southern skies.
10
As far as I can see, Glendale App gives you the best chance. The odds of an aurora change with the solar wind (so to speak). It’s a minute by minute thing. The 3 hour averaged info by most of the “Kp” reporting sites is fine if you don’t mind sitting in a field for 3 hours waiting…
We get about 45 minutes warning from a satellite of an incoming rush of charged particles. So you’d need to get some kind of “ping” warning sent to your email or phone and plan accordingly (and sites do offer that). But when something exciting comes off the sun, it’s very hard to predict it’s arrival exactly. Some are faster than others.

Surprisingly sensible outcome for once in the UK. “Judges at the UK Supreme Court have unanimously ruled that a woman is defined by biological sex under equalities law.”

Leftoids will be in extreme meltdown.
A rare science-based result from a UK court.
Unfortunately, I think the UK Government response will be to change the law to state that men can be women regardless of biological fact.
For now, men might be out of women’s spaces, but they will be back.

The Labor Party can run a campaign but not a country.
The Liberal Party can (sort of) run a country but not a campaign.
150
A problem I have been thinking about is; what actually works to change the way a person votes? Election posters are going up all over the place, Liberals are featuring prominently. Do they do any good?
I have made a donation to fund a billboard truck which has anti Green slogans. It will drive around attracting attention, but will it reduce the Green votes? I certainly hope so.
I suspect however that the voters have made up their minds months ago.
90
Change only occurs at the precipice and 90% of people are still at the restaurant…
80
I don’t think the welded-on – on either side of the spectrum – are open to argument or persuasion. It is the swing voter that makes the difference and I suspect there are fewer of them these days, thanks to a divisive media and the internet generally.

Early settlers were adamant that Tasmanian aborigines were different from mainland ones.
Indicates that the Tasmanians may have been separated from the ‘standard’ types after the sea rose (cutting Bass Straight) about 8,000 years ago. With the reports early about mainland aborigines hunting “pigmies” in NW West Australia and in the tropical forests of Queensland this may have saved those in Tasmania.

Sir Humphrey and Sir Arnold would be astonished by the suggestion that the Liberal/National coalition could possibly run a country. Even sort of. Even in jest.
Running the country is the exclusive domain of the public serpents.

The meaning of life
In The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the supercomputer Deep Thought is built by a race of hyper-intelligent alien beings to determine the answer to “life, the universe, and everything.”
Deep Thought determines that the answer is, somewhat anticlimactically, “42.”
It sounds like a joke, but is there more to this answer?
Douglas Adams was an unabashed computer nerd and knew a heck of a lot about programming language and coding.
In programming, an asterisk is commonly used to translate as” whatever you want it to be”.
In ASCII language, the most basic computer software, “42” is the designation for an asterisk.
A computer, Deep Thought, was asked what the true meaning of life was. It answered as a computer would. 42 = “anything you want it to be.”
Genius.

There was an interesting clip yesterday of a proud Russian drone controller waging war on Ukraine. One problem – he was in a high-rise Moscow building with panoramic views of the city through his window – the building he was operating from easily identified.
So if there is a Ukrainian drone strike on a central Moscow hi-rise, we all know why.
The Russian-sourced video was quickly removed, and the operator may now be in an FSB basement.
30
Oops.
00
You should have read the article Rowjay! That apartment in Moscow was the point of the whole thing, he can sit there and control a drone blowing up Ukies from anywhere in the world…
“For the first time, an FPV drone controlled from Moscow hits a Ukrainian Armed Forces facility in Chasov Yar. The strike was carried out by the FPV drone “Ovod” using the new control system “Orbita”. The UAV crew from the Espanyola brigade prepared the drone for takeoff.
The drone was controlled by a UAV operator located in Moscow. The drone flew more than 11 km and successfully hit the target.
“Orbita” will allow drone strikes to be carried out by issuing commands from anywhere in the world.”
We are getting closer to wars being waged between armies of robots in some third country who wanted nothing to do with it, while being controlled from powerful countries thousands of miles away. We already have the Yanks with their Predator drones all around the world killing people by a controller in America.

“New Study Shakes Up Heart Disease Theory: High Cholesterol May Not Mean High Risk”
https://scitechdaily.com/new-study-shakes-up-heart-disease-theory-high-cholesterol-may-not-mean-high-risk/

Alongside my new-found scepticism of all things medical brought about by ‘The Enlightenment’ (a.k.a. Covid 19), I grew sceptical of the benefits of statins. I have been taking statins since my heart attack and they have lowered my cholesterol, though to what end I’m no longer sure.
However, for the past year and a half, I have pretty much reverted to my ‘old’ diet, which included more red meat, more eggs and full fat dairy of every kind. In fact I would say my intake has increased the last few months As I try to build up my wife’s general health, esp blood count.
It hasn’t increased my cholesterol at all. In fact, it has gone DOWN slightly and the LDL value reduced by quite a bit.
60
On a similar tack I now routinely ask my GP and the assorted specialists my wife and I see what difference each medication will make.
Will it show up in blood tests? Will the effect be observable?
30
What do they say with respect to statins?
10
The effect of statins shows up in blood tests.
10
“It hasn’t increased my cholesterol at all. In fact, it has gone DOWN slightly and the LDL value reduced by quite a bit.”
It is my understanding, that it was never the saturated fat, it was the industrial created hydrogenated ‘trans-fats’.
Which I think add an extra protein on the chain our bodies can’t recognize.
A nice T-bone will not show up in your blood test.
The hydrogenated fats will.
The anti-fat pro statin decades long propaganda was convenient for Pharma and processed food manufacturing.
Making altered fats like ‘Canola oil’ (which is actually rape seed oil), toxic before processing, palatable to consumers.
“Follow the Science” has been primarily marketing for decades.
The ‘low fat foods/statins’ saga was prequel to the corruption of ‘public health’ long before Pandemic.

Well, I usually feel anyone who has to make aYoutube video of something is too dense to write an article about it, and generally I just read stuff rather than worry about videos and what-their-names.. audio stuff… podcasts! I live in a silent house most of the time.
Anyway- transcript.. This doesn’t fill me with hope-
“coming out of Washington at the moment um you know we’ve just had this week um POTUS say that Ukraine started the war, why are his advisers not correcting him does he really believe that
1:41
um what a what a great question of course I was gobsmacked when I when I heard him say that myself uh and uh it’s very uh frustrating because it’s clear..”
That’s just straight propaganda, like this- “He walked out into the road and I couldn’t avoid running him over.” “You were doing 85kph in a 50 zone” “But he just walked out into the road and I couldn’t avoid him…” That is their argument in a nutshell.
..and the rest is just Anti-Trump rubbish from a couple of losers who have made their money out of the carefully crafted society where unwritten rules make some people millionaires and don’t allow others to comment. There’s about as much chance of those guys sitting down and having a peace agreement with Russia as there is the Democrats joining the Republicans!
Swap the names over and it sounds just like Russia talking about Ukraine and the Yanks.. Still, the Germans were our hated enemy, the Japanese too, and the Viet Cong.. All friends now… like Russia and Good ol’ Joseph were..
Never trust a politician.

So, the bottom line is that there were ‘early’ or ‘earlier’, humans.
They moved about – and had a lot if time to do that.
They encountered other groups of ‘early’ humans, some of whom they interbred with.
Some of the offspring were fertile, and did well.
Now, I think we come to the first quandary.
Lumpers – were they all part of one species (with considerable variety)? – or Splitters – where there are at least as many species as researchers (it seems)?
If the ‘truth’ is a “tangled bush”, with branches and twigs splitting and recombining, are either of those approaches of value? Let alone correct!
Your answer will probably depend on your philosophy. Humans seem to need ‘order’, but Nature doesnt necessarily produce order.
What may apply to humans may also apply to wvery other species, too.

Japanese Scientists: Covid ‘Vaccines’ Slash Survival Rate of Cancer Patients 50%
A group of Japan’s leading oncology scientists has raised the alarm after uncovering evidence that Covid mRNA “vaccines” dramatically reduce the survival rate of cancer patients.
The findings were revealed by a research team led by Dr. Makoto Abue of the Miyagi Cancer Center in Natori, Japan
The average survival period following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis plummeted to 10.3 months among vaccinated patients compared to 20.8 months for unvaccinated.

CSIRO are coming for your dogs: https://www.publish.csiro.au/PC/PC24071
Dogs as owned pet animals are globally ubiquitous and numerous. While the impact of cats, both feral and owned, on biodiversity has been relatively well-studied, by contrast, the comparative effect of owned dogs has been poorly acknowledged. As the commonest large carnivore in the world, the environmental impacts of owned dogs are extensive and multifarious: they are implicated in direct killing and disturbance of multiple species, particularly shore birds, but also their mere presence, even when leashed, can disturb birds and mammals, causing them to leave areas where dogs are exercised. Furthermore, scent traces and urine and faeces left by dogs can continue to have this effect even when dogs are not present. Faeces and urine can transfer zoonoses to wildlife and, when accumulated, can pollute waterways and impact plant growth. Owned dogs that enter waterways contribute to toxic pollution through wash-off of chemical ectoparasite treatment applications. Finally, the sheer number of dogs contributes to global carbon emissions and land and fresh water use via the pet food industry. We argue that the environmental impact of owned dogs is far greater, more insidious, and more concerning than is generally recognised.

The $499,932 of taxpayer funds awarded to MacIntyre and her team will be used to create AI that can identify public health disinformation and its effect on communities.
“Disinformation, or ‘fake news’, is a significant challenge in today’s public health field, and unfortunately is a consequence of living in a highly connected world,” says Professor MacIntyre. “It affects community sentiment, which in turn can affect vaccination rates and uptake of other health interventions. AI-driven solutions will help detect and combat disinformation as more threats emerge, and will provide early warnings of negative community sentiment, which can inform health promotion and public health messaging to communities.”4 [emphasis added]
