    https://fordauthority.com/2023/08/farley-shares-his-ford-f-150-lightning-charging-experience/

Road trip: Ford CEO Jim Farley struggles first-hand as he embarks on a road trip in a Ford F-150 Lightning, one that began in Silicon Valley and is set to end in Las Vegas.

John. Interesting that one of Farley’s EV-charging problems was his hotel not having a charging station….

Two major issues which will NEVER be solved: A) How many charging stations would a hotel or motel need if EVs were the majority of vehicles parked at a hotel or motel…and where would the power come from? and B) Will hotels and motels continue to allow ANY EVs parking at / on / under their premises as they continually self-detonate?

The latter issue leads me to wonder how accommodation houses react to guests bringing suitcases full of explosives into them today. Same way as they’ll be reacting to EVs tomorrow?

Guests probably shouldn’t be allowed to bring in large tanks of flammable liquid either.

          large tanks of flammable liquid

When ICE vehicles catch fire it’s far less hazardous than when a BEV catches fire.
The risks and consequences aren’t as dire.

I think William pointed out that when an EV goes up, it requires a large amount of emergency response vehicles, which then reduces their use for other emergencies. But when an ICE catches fire, they only send one response vehicle.

Simon makes another really silly comment.

Despite knowing that ICE car fuel tanks practically NEVER self-detonate, and that EVs often do…so often that numerous car ferry companies refuse to have them aboard (whilst happily carrying hundreds or thousands of fully-tanked ICEs), Simon writes the silliest thing he can think of (and that IS saying something!).

What pleasure does it give any human being to constantly play the fool with no “cunning” point to make at all?

          Sad!

I wonder if Simon knows that there is a narrow window of flammability for fuel.
Too much fuel vapour or not enough oxygen and nothing happens.
You can take a 5l petrol can, 75% full and drop a lit match in it.

At least America will have electricity to charge EVs as even under the Maladministration of the White House Resident power stations are not being destroyed as they are in Australia.

In America it seems unreliables are a mere annoyance rather than economy-destroying as in Australia.

Also in the US, unreliables subsidy harvesting works differently. In Australia the subsidy payments are harvested directly from the consumer electricity bill. In the US they tend to be invisible on the electricity bill but come in the form of tax credits.

      Warren Buffet said:

For example, on wind energy, we get a tax credit if we build a lot of wind farms. That’s the only reason to build them. They don’t make sense without the tax credit.

That’s not to say that the White House Resident isn’t doing everything in his power to destroy the US economy, he, or rather those that tell him what to do, just aren’t doing it with windmills which is the main weapon used in Australia (apart from massive debt spending).

I am disappointed with Samsung phones because 1) they no longer support SD cards and 2) the 1TB S23 is only available with the large physical size phone, not the smaller one. The larger size is too big for my shirt pocket but I want the 1TB memory plus option for an SD card. They are becoming just like Apple. This is not progress….

I think that in today’s Australia all Governments are doing and have done in recent years, just every single thing wrong that it’s possible to do wrong.

As a result our freedom; our energy supply; our physical, mental and economic well being during and after covid; have all been destroyed.

These are mostly things we will never get back if conservatives and fellow rational thinkers remain silent.

“New ACMA powers to combat misinformation and disinformation”.

They don’t have to be long if you don’t have time. A short submission will do if that’s all you can manage.

You can do a short online form submission (no more difficult than a blog post here), or submit a full 20 page (or however short or long you want) document as I have done.

    Due by August 20, 2023.

Remember, it WILL HAPPEN if conservatives and fellow rational thinkers remain silent.

Pretty sure it will happen regardless of submissions.

The process is not really intended to consult with the public … everyone knows this will be used for political csnsorship, so you write in a submission, “This will obviously be used for political censorship”.

They shrug and say, “Yeah we like it that way” … but then simply deny like always.

It’s not a voting system where they count the positive and negative submissions … they don’t need to explain the decision making and how a conclusion was reached. There’s no ultimate responsibility here, only the ability to grab power and use that.

Possibly true Tel, but we must try.

Dictatorship and slavery is where it’s heading if we don’t fight.

If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.

Of course! There is nothing more certain. This whole charade is a ploy to identify the first people to hit.

Following the banning of internet access for the noisy ones who make a submission, the Govt will turn on the opposition and use it to stifle their criticism of any Govt policy. They will drive this tyranny until they are safely back in the pre-internet days when they controlled the media completely.

Did you read the “when you can win easily” bit? Making a futile effort and then saying, “Well I tried” is not the same as winning easily in my books.

Besides that … in the case of the Churchill speech, he wasn’t a great wartime leader, his military strategy was crap and he never made it clear how exactly his whole “win easily” system was supposed to work. The USA eventually bailed him out. Churchill sounded impressive and was good with his words but to a large extent he was the guy who lost the British Empire.

Maybe you’re right, but I think the British Empire was done for after the mass slaughter of the empire’s youth in WW1. That and the awakening of the USA giant sealed the Empire’s fate.

I don’t believe any Government of the world is a more fanatical believer in the anthropogenic global warming fraud than Australia’s, all states and federal.

An alternative Government led by a pretend conservative Liberal Party is no different. Dutton pretends to support nuclear power but only because 1) he actually believes CO2 is bad and 2) he knows it would be impossible to build a nuclear reactor in Australia for half a century or more, given that it took 50 years to decide on a second Sydney airport.

Even the wokest nations of Europe like Once Great Britain and Germany are seeing what is (un)common sense and reopening old power stations, something that wouldn’t happen in Australia because once a power station is shut down they are immediately destroyed with great urgency.

David, Australia is still exporting masses of gas and coal. We have risked national security and increased sovereign risk, but unlike the UK, Germany and the Netherlands we didn’t shut down our own production of fossil fuels.

We live the daft hypocrisy of making our own energy unaffordable but governments would not cut off the money flow from exports.

I suspect the only reason we haven’t reached the same point in the U-turn as Europe is only because we are too rich with energy, the pain isn’t burning here as much as it is there. Our winters are not as cold.

      90

      • #
        Graeme No.3

        Jo:
Germany didn’t shut down their coal production, only stopping some generation plants (but not destroying them as our morons do). And they expanded one mine recently even removing wind turbines there).
Even as the Engewende reached its peek they still got their electricity from 23% (brown coal) plants. Now the figure is more like 33%.
And there used to be some chemical works using lignite (to make Waxes etc.) but I assume that these have gone in the depression.
The policies in the UK are similar to our morons but there are slight signs of sanity returning e.g. Drax may have to go back to coal (although the coal seam the plant was built on may not be usable from neglect – a customer for Australian coal? )

Drs Richard Lindzen and Will Happer in a letter to the EPA
    https://co2coalition.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Happer-Lindzen-EPA-Power-Plants-2023-07-19.pdf?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

An excerpt from the letter below. It’s worthwhile reading the whole letter. Easy reading, understandable and factual.

Here the EPA relies on a number of studies, cited and analyzed below, that do not use the
scientific method and therefore are not reliable. Instead, all use what we call the “Unscientific
Method”: consensus, peer review, government opinion from the International Panel on Climate
Change (“IPCC”), models that do not work, falsifying data by omitting contradictory data, and
fabrication of supporting data. None of this produces scientific knowledge; only the scientific
    method does.
In science, omitting contradictory data is such an egregious violation of the scientific
method that it is deemed “falsification.”6
It is illustrated by what can be called the “world is flat
analysis,” which involves cherry-picking a limited set of favorable data and then failing to consider
contradictory evidence. Under this method, the theory that the world is flat is true if one uses only
eyesight data and does not consider the voluminous other evidence that it is round.
The Unscientific Method of analysis, relying on consensus, peer review, government
opinion, models that do not work, cherry-picking data and omitting voluminous contradictory data,
is commonly employed in these studies and by the EPA in the Proposed Rule. None of the studies
provides scientific knowledge, and thus none provides any scientific support for the Proposed
    Rule.

Here is an excellent Tucker interview of RFK Jr.

    https://youtu.be/HN5A6lhjV0c

Unlike modern Leftists, RFK is “old school”. He is polite, he is an intellectual, he knows history, he is pro-science and pro-rationalism, he is patriotic, he is a decent and honest human being. He is also more conservative than typical GOP members today. He is not obnoxious in any way.

No wonder the modern Left hate him and the White House Resident refuses to give him Secret Service protection.

RFK is pro-science when it comes to vaccines and the creation of Randomized Controlled Trials before approval versus Big Pharma fixing the game with Government scientists and politicians in on the payoff. News is just out in the States that primary care physicians were getting at least $50 a CoVid Jab in some states as part of their incentive package from the emergency pandemic spending.

But, RFK is anything but pro-science when it comes to climate change. I pulled this article in a quick search, but it’s where he stood, and probably still does even though he may be backing off AGW running for a President. But, I think we all know politicians go home to roost after they get elected.

I find it hard to believe that RFK Jr is the new messiah that is going to change the USA and help the rest of us.
He appears to have bought into a lot of the green BS and appears to be anti nuclear. This alone means if he was president the pain and economic ruin would continue.
Also, he has bought 100% into the zionist playbook and shows no sympathies for the Palestinian predicament. This wouldn’t bode well for world peace.
On the positive side he speaks well and he is, IMO, spot on with the Covid fiasco, USA state corruption and he has stated he would free Julian Assange if elected.
His real chances are insignificant so at the moment he can say what he likes, if elected we would find out if he is real or full of bluster.

OK everyone – As Pauline H would say – “please explain”

Fire and Fury: The Story of the 2023 Maui Fire and its Implications for Climate Change

Fire and Fury: The Story of the Maui Fire and its Implications for Climate Change is a gripping and eye-opening account of one of the most devastating wildfires in Hawaii’s history, and how it reveals the urgent need to address the global climate crisis. The book chronicles the events of August 8-11, 2023, when a massive fire swept across the island of Maui, fueled by drought, heat, and hurricane winds. The book describes the harrowing experiences of the people who lived through the fire, as well as the heroic efforts of the firefighters and rescuers who battled the flames. The book also examines the causes and consequences of the fire, both locally and globally, and how it exposes the vulnerability of our society and our planet to the impacts of climate change. The book draws on scientific research, eyewitness accounts, official reports, and media coverage to provide a comprehensive and compelling narrative of the Maui fire and its implications for climate change.

The government should not have to the power/ability to define mis-information.
In particular I used the following quote attributed to Michael Crichton at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA, USA on January 17, 2003
The work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world. In science, consensus is irrelevant. What are relevant are reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus

LinkedIn accounts hacked in widespread hijacking campaign

LinkedIn is being targeted in a wave of account hacks resulting in many accounts being locked out for security reasons or ultimately hijacked by attackers.

As reported today by Cyberint, many LinkedIn users have been complaining about the account takeovers or lockouts and an inability to resolve the problems through LinkedIn support.

“Some have even been pressured into paying a ransom to regain control or faced with the permanent deletion of their accounts,” reports Cyberint’s researcher Coral Tayar.

“While LinkedIn has not yet issued an official announcement, it appears that their support response time has lengthened, with reports of a high volume of support requests.”

“My account was hacked 6 days ago. Email was changed in the middle of the night and I had no ability to confirm the change or prevent it,” wrote an affected user in Reddit thread about the hacks.

“No response from them anywhere. It’s pathetic. I tried reporting my hacked account, going through identity verification, and even DMing them on @linkedinhelp on twitter. No responses anywhere. What a joke of a company..”

Cyberint says there are also signs of a breakout reflected in Google Trends, where search terms about LinkedIn account hack or recovery record an increase of 5,000% over the past few months.

Here we go: Scientists demand Britons wear face masks as new Covid variant spreads

The variant could “potentially cause a big wave”, Brits have been warned, as a professor said the UK is “worryingly” ill-prepared for such an event.

Scientists have suggested Brits may need to don masks again as a new variant of Covid-19 is recorded in multiple countries.

Dubbed BA.X, online virus trackers have found the virus in Denmark and Israel, although this has not yet been independently verified.

Some scientists are already calling for new measures to be introduced – but others say it is too early to determine whether the variant could lead to another pandemic.

Dr Trisha Greenhalgh, an internationally-renowned expert in primary care, based at the University of Oxford, tweeted: “It looks like it’s once again time to MASK UP”.

Meanwhile, Professor Christina Pagel, a mathematician from University College London who sits on Independent SAGE, said: “To everyone else — very very early days but this coronavirus variant (now in 2 countries) has a LOT of new mutations that makes it v different to previous Omicron strains.”
