Media giant AP News sells out journalism for just $8m from billionaires

The Media is the problem. Magnifying Glass.

By Jo Nova

The media is totally bought and sold

A bunch of giant Foundations (run by billionaires that also invest in renewable energy) gave Associated Press (AP) $8 million dollars last year to push the climate propaganda even harder than it has been running for the last 20 years.

In return AP, which calls itself a not-for-profit news agency took the grant and then ran 64 climate crisis or ESG stories in the next year. They called this surge a “sweeping climate journalism initiative”.

Sixty four stories doesn’t sound like much but AP stories are repeated in 1,300 newspapers and broadcasters. So 64 stories could really mean 83,200 stories.

The money came from the Rockefeller Foundation, Quadrivium (James Murdoch, who is son of Rupert), the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Walton Family Foundation (Walmart), and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Looks like, smells like, advertising money for Renewable investors disguised as a grant?

At least some of these Billionaires may be paying for media stories that could improve the return on their green investments. According to InfluenceWatch, two years ago Quadrivium Foundation committed to invest $250 million US in BlackRock Inc for “green energy infrastructure”. Likewise the Rockefeller heirs invested in renewables years ago, and the Walton family have made hundreds of millions of dollars from solar power.

STUDY: AP Pushes Woke Terms Across 64 Climate Stories After $8M Grant from Leftist Orgs

Joseph Vazquez and Luis Corneli, Newsbusters

AP announced Feb. 15, 2022, that it would “significantly expand its climate coverage” with the goal to “infuse” the media landscape with climate journalism backed solely by private interest groups. AP called the new development a “sweeping climate journalism initiative” and claimed in its press release that it would retain “complete editorial control of all content.” AP also claims on its “About Us” page that it is in the business of “unbiased news,” which is little more than a pathetic joke. The so-called “journalism” AP has been doing on climate involves behaving like the de facto mouthpiece for its major left-wing donors who have an obsession with pushing apocalyptic climate narratives on the internet.

It’s a parody of journalism: AP said the money came “without strings”

AP Associate Press Logo. Media

AP summarized Carovillano’s claim that “AP accepts money to cover certain areas but without strings attached; the funders have no influence on the stories that are done.” Carovillano, in this particular case, called the activist investment a “‘mutually beneficial arrangement.’”

And if politicians got free houses or holidays from companies they made laws about, they could just say it was a “mutually beneficial arrangement” right? And we would laugh out of town, any politician that said that.

“The AP is supposed to be a newswire service, reporting hard news,” Legal Senior Policy Fellow at the Energy and Environment Legal Institute Steve Milloy told MRC Business. “But it has deteriorated into a climate propaganda outfit for left-wing foundations. The AP routinely reports just one side of any climate story. If it lets its readers know there is another side, that only occurs via bogus ‘fact-check’ articles that are intended for use by climate activists to get other outlets to censor climate skeptics.”

Because AP stories are run in many other news outlets, the propaganda is amplified but the payoff money gets laundered through the other outlets, which don’t mention the conflict of interest.

[Steve Milloy] continued: “The AP imagines that its corruption of the news is excused because it discloses on its website that it is being paid to report one-side of every climate story. But its stories are run by other media outlets who don’t make the necessary disclosures.”

Climate Depot founder Marc Morano also ripped apart AP’s unashamed partnership with left-wing groups in comments to MRC Business:

The media is not only ideology in sync with the climate agenda of our government, international organizations, academia, and the billionaire class, but they are also quite literally being paid to promote the climate scare. AP has received millions from ‘philanthropic grants’ to toss out all objectivity and balance in their reporting. The AP and the corporate media engage in paid press release journalism. The media has zero obligation to serve as watchdogs over government claims or policies and instead regurgitate the approved messaging of their paymasters.

It’s Climate hush money — it buys silence

The big problem with the current media is the total lack of any critical research or backgrounding, or cross-checks on the stories. When the IPCC says we are all doomed, AP says “we’re all doomed” — they don’t interview the Nobel Prize winners who disagree, or the men who walked on the moon, or any of the 30,000 scientists who can point out the flaws in the UN hyperbole.

AP News was founded in 1846. The original founders must be rolling in their graves.

If climate skeptics got $8m in funding from anywhere, the media would be all over it. But when one of the core groups of the media world sells out journalism to politically motivated vested interests most of the most lauded reporters in the world won’t even notice…

You can step on a bug or spray it, but the big question here is, why these large supra-governmental organisations exist at all.

“Not For Profit” “Foundations” are operating outside of the tax systems of numerous countries with enormous sums of Cash completely bypassing the tax regimes that apply to the rest of us.

This arrangement is very much like the weird allocation of AUD$444 Million by someone in a position of trust that was given to the Great Big Barrier Reef Foundation.

As on Land, So on Coral.

We are being had! and when integrity is not required in government office we are all in a real bad situation.

$8 million is not a lot of money in this context. But it could be more than Associated Press was worth.

Last I heard of AP was that it was in danger of going down the gurgler. And it wasn’t alone. So who is next?

Bought and sold is right. Now it is somebody else’s tool. Do they know how to get their value out of it?

I am always surprised at how small the amounts accepted by the gr1fters to sell out their principles.

Take Brandon’s crime family: Their deceit is massively damaging to their nation, out of proportion to the paltry few millions they received. China et al got good value.

A lousy $8M? AP have sold their soul for $8million? How incredibly cheap! That’s a house in some suburbs.

But it’s about time the coal, oil, gas companies and the mega companies and billionaires who need cheaper energy including steel, concrete, chemicals, aircraft, ships, trucks.

Companies like GE, Caterpillar, NUCOR, BASF, BP to name a few could put just a little effort in to saving their businesses from the dual hit of roaring costs and taxes.

The difference is that they would be telling the truth, not the biggest and most devastating scam in human history. There is no carbon dioxide problem. CO2 was proven completely natural over 65 years ago. And the story of imminent catastrophic climate extinction is just ridiculous after 35 years of absolutely no change anywhere.

“People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.” Adam Smith

And making the world dependent on Chinese windmills is treasonous after the Chinese Army virus intentionally distributed worldwide killed millions. And everyone knows it and knew it. Despite the UN, WHO and the Press. But still everyone pretends it was accidental and climate change is true.

And if a lousy $8Million has such an impact, how much would it cost to get the truth told?

AAP turnover is $510Million. With 3,300 people in Associated press, $8 Million is only $2400 each. Free sandwiches for a year maybe. And Gary Pruit, the CEO is on $4.5Million a year.

The real question is what happened to the $8 million? Cui Bono? To whom did the money go?
Only an individual in a critical position would consider that a lot of money and worth the scandal. It’s advertising revenue.

Then Malcolm and Lucy’s $A444 million gift in tax free cash, 7 1/2 tons of free gold was based on another lie, that the Great Barrier Reef needed the money. And the six people who received the cash didn’t know it was coming and hadn’t asked for it and couldn’t explain what they were going to do with it. They had no idea. It was enough money to run a business the size of AAP with thousands of people.

This shows you how much raw taxpayer cash is in fake Climate Change. And no one asks. Those poor polar bears.

          And the still unanswered question;

do we have law that applies to everybody? and if so why Absolutely No Action on this worrying matter.

One law for Them; a more demanding application for Us.

      Ass. Press, or, Ass. Squeeze?

Jo, you’re on fire this week, one after another, boom! Better be careful, as AP’s taken legal action against bloggers using their material in the past. And to think they started out (like CNN) reporting war adventures, ie. Mexico-American War in 1846, then moved onto publishing stories such as The Moon Hoax about lunarian men-bats. Give that paper a Pulitzer Prize!

If they can buy the media so cheaply, who’s to say politicians aren’t also being bought? And not just politicians, social(ist) media “influencers”, the IPCC and many others including as we know from the Twitter Files, an entire social(ist) media organisation. There is no reason that sites like Goolag, Farcebook etc. hadn’t also been purchased and acting as agents of propaganda for government/Deep State/The Left/the billionaire subsidy harvesters like pre-Musk Twitter was.

Furthermore, regardless of the fact that conservatives and fellow rational thinkers don’t receive any funding, any challenge provided to the Official Narrative is met with a vicious response and the usual ad hominem and argumentum ad verecundiam attacks by the Left, followed by such measures as sacking/firing, vexatious litigation, and canceling.

The Left are utterly intolerant and terrified of alternative opinions or the plurality of opinions that should be allowed in a free society. Indeed, they now call opinions that don’t follow the Official Narrative on climate, covid or anything else as “dangerous” and use the term which you hear more and more “dangerous misinformation” with calls and action for governments and their social(ist) media agents to “cancel” such alternative opinions. These opinions are just words, and the Left should be able to challenge them with other words but they refuse to. They are fundamentally fascist in their behaviour. Suppressing words always leads to far worse behaviours.

For only $8 million to buy “journalists” this is an outstanding return on investment for the billionaire subsidy harvesters and their fellow parasites.

And why isn’t this paper newsworthy? Published 14 Feb 2023 from the University of Technology in the Algave, Portugal. Peter Stallinga.

    (1) The adjustment time is never larger than the residence time and is less than 5 years.
    (2) The idea of the atmosphere being stable at 280 ppm in pre-industrial times is untenable.
    (3) Nearly 90% of all anthropogenic carbon dioxide has already been removed from the atmosphere.

All the evidence is there. 18 references saying the same thing. Man made CO2 is a lie, the foundation lie long before you talk of possible warming which hasn’t happened in 35 years and computer fabrications which are all wrong.

We always thought that truth would trump the hype. We were wrong. This was always about creeping communism and so far the communists have won. CO2 was simply the carrier for a far bigger and far more damaging message. We only have to see what countries did not follow the new rules and how they have flourished while those who caved are going backwards. We are the suckers and we are governed by people who are either ignorant (in Chris Bowen’s case highly likely) or treacherous/treasonous. I do not believe that a sensible person would just listen to the bureaucrats and reject Bob Carter or Ian Plimer or Peter Ridd. One did and his name was Tony Abbott and he was backstabbed by Turnbull and moderate Liberals. This has been a set up from day one.

        Alan Moran, May 2023:

“While conservative/liberal reformists tend to regard their own positions as mainstream, in fact, based on election outcomes, they can be certain in Australia of no more than 15-25 per cent of the vote compared to the socialist/green left at about 55 per cent of the vote and the centrists at 25-35 per cent. (In the latest German regional election, the conservatives/reformists – some of whom are quite green – got 15 per cent, the socialists/greens 53 per cent, and the centrists 26 per cent.)”

This trend has been clear for over twenty years now. What finally pushed it into majority was the bushfire season of 2019-2020. People became absolutely terrified as they realised there was nowhere to run – so the snake oil of reduce your sinful (fossil-fuelled) living resonated at over 3000 dB. The Covid lockdowns that followed then reassured them that Govt will rescue them, albeit with some inconvenience and a little pain.

Magic always wins … there are far too many midwits for otherwise.

We all know the climate stories are centrally generated propaganda. Every time a new story comes out, if you try to fact check for information on Google, a crude search will just return page after page of the same story regurgitated by site after site.

Associated Press is a not-for-profit agency and so does not pay tax.

And yet they act like a for-profit news outlet and should surely be taxed?

This level of journalism is expensive. AP, which is a not-for-profit cooperative, invests hundreds of millions of dollars every year in newsgathering and distribution. Revenue from licensing this content, across formats (including digital), is our main source of funding.
    https://www.ap.org/about/our-causes/intellectual-property

There is also Australian Associated Press https://www.aap.com.au/about-us/ started in 1935 by Keith Murdoch. It is also a not-for-profit and yet acts as a for-profit corporation and should pay tax?

Both agencies are involved in “fact checks” (sic), which for topics like covid and “climate change” makes them nothing makes them nothing more than tax-exempt regurgitators of the Official Narrative.

In Australia, AAP is actually registered as a charity.

And the idea that the Wuhan Flu was made in Wuhan was a ‘conspiracy theory’ and ‘xenophobic’. This from the leader of the US congress, Democrat Nancy Pelosi. It was the truth. And how many Americans died? And why isn’t Pelosi held accountable?

And the WHO President Tedros Adhonom, President Xi’s appointee, the first non medical doctor in Who history, who declared formally in January 2020 that the Wuhan Flu was “not transmissable human to human”. He lied.

He could have stopped instantly based on the Taiwanese report on his desk in November 2019. But he excused this because Taiwan wasn’t a country so he did not have to read it. And then he renamed the man made virus to C*vid, a cover up.

So Tedros Adhonom actively and deliberately spread the deadliest plague in living memory. And the WHO’s existence is purely to prevent plague, not facilitate it. Why isn’t he before the International Court of Justice in the Hague charged with crimes against humanity? And another UN slave subsidiary plays ball in attacking Western democracies.

And perhaps one of the most appalling henchmen in the story, the communist mayor of Florence who for no apparent reason at the same time declared it was hug a Chinese day. Are we to believe that was just a coincidence?

Why aren’t these people on trial for mass murder?

And why does the press say nothing. Do they have to be paid?

Especially in Australia where we are being punished by Chinese economic war for merely asking for an investigation into the origin of the virus. Which is proof enough of guilt, as if any were needed.

They love Net Zero !! If you consider the climate alarmist narrative of the bulk of todays MSM, $8m and 64 stories (even if they are repeated X no of times) would hardly be significant.

You will note one of the donors is James Murdoch.
Expect dad’s hold on Fox to slip, if it hasn’t already with the firing of Tucker Carlson.
The kids are as Woke as they come. Immense privilege does that.

Rupert Murdoch could have done nothing with his life, born rich by anyone’s standards
but a real visionary he put it all on the line at least three times.
I doubt his children and grandchildren will have his courage. Or the principles. He could be the
last of the 20th century newspaper barons. And his empire spans the globe.

I would suggest he is easily the best known Australian in history.
And the only one to tie his kangaroo down sport was the Australian taxman. So he has been American for decades.
The Australian taxman destroyed Paul Hogan’s career.

Here is an interesting article from Influence Watch on Associated Press.

    https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/associated-press-ap/

It talks about their bias in language use, finances and other matters.

    Concerning their “stylebook”:

The AP Stylebook has shifted to favor left-wing terminology and thinking since 2013, 7 recommending that writers stop using the phrase “illegal immigrant,” 8 arguing that white people’s skin color plays into systemic inequalities and injustices, 9 prohibiting the use of “pro-life” to characterize people who oppose abortion, 10 and suggesting writers use the word “unrest” instead of “riot” to describe occasionally violent demonstrations that occurred in the summer of 2020 following the police-custody death of George Floyd. 11 12

Concerning their finances, for such a huge and influential organisation they have extremely modest income (2018 figures):

    Total revenue $186,280
    Total functional expenses $179,373
    Total assets (EOY) $13,413
    Total liabilities (EOY) $71,027
    Unrelated business income? N
    Total contributions $155,680
    Program service revenue $16,320
    Investment income $0
Comp. of current officers, directors, etc. $0

This shows the efficiency of private industry versus government. $8million is nothing compared to the $1billion the Australian Govt gives the ABC each year to push climate change propaganda.

News you will not read from AP (NCDC via Cap Allon):

So far this year (to May 21) the world has set 68 new all-time low temperature records vs 34 new all-time high temperatures.

The social contagion of the belief in anthropogenic global warming is so extensive, it’s difficult to see how we can ever make the truth prevail.

    Definition:

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/psychology/social-contagion

Social contagion is an ubiquitous process by which information, such as attitudes, emotions, or behaviors, are rapidly spread throughout a group from one member to others without rational thought and reason.

Do you think the Australian media is as gullible and clueless as overseas media or more so?

I am inclined to think more so.

I think maybe you’re not adequately crediting media activism as being deliberate and calculated for at least sections of the media. I’d suggest they’re not duped or conned into propaganda. Media ethics and basic reporting of facts rather than opinion seems to have reduced. My assumption is many don’t care if it’s fact or not as long as it helps the cause. Sometimes the cause is the activism and sometimes the cause is clicks for the media company revenue.

But that’s just my opinion and not a fact.

In NZ 2022 the media (mostly Newshub – not AP) hyped the NZ$20m “SeaRise Project” at the behest of a govt coordinated effort. One Newshub/TV3 reporter breathlessly announced “headline after headline after headline” which were mostly Newshub generated headlines aided by state RNZ and others.

Searise completely neglects tide-guage MSL observations, instead gives IPCC SSP5-8.5 and 8.5H+ “projections” with vertical land movement (VLM) “projections” out to 2150.

The VLM 2150 “projections” only relied on a short 7-year satellite baseline dataset (2003-2011) measuring subsidence and uplift along coastal New Zealand.

Both SSP and VLM “projections” are now inconsistent with subsequent observations to 2023 therefore useless for planning and policy but are integrated anyway.

The Left are useless at everything except they are masters of propaganda as shown by the temporary successes of National Socialism and Communism, etc..

I’m not sure what the point of your comment is. To start a discussion? To vent? To get some green thumbs? To totally peeve or insult anybody who considers themselves to be of the “left” so they leave the blog instead of reading a different perspective to their usual info sources? The latter is the most likely result even if your aim was to achieve something else.

It astounds me that the fire in the belly has departed from so many people in influential positions.
Just about every conversation that I have these days involves others complaining about how bad matters are.
If pressed a little, many agree that they are alienated, that they no longer feel that they have places to express how they can help society, offer ideas to show national pride, and even if they did, nobody would listen. Some go as far as saying that if they could be heard, it would be short because they would be cancelled.
There is wide feeling that people who related to this country with national pride no longer give a stuff because the part ownership that they used to feel has been taken from them.
This example might help: the Labor party before the last Federal election promised households a reduction of $275 in electricity bills. Now they speak of an increase in bills of 30% or so. However, they now promise compensation by help with bills by money refunds.
The problem is that this refund money is described by the PM down as a favour, a cause to bless the government for being so thoughtful. But the money they say will be given is NOT THEIR MONEY, it is yours and mine taken by them. This is an utterly immoral, even illegal plan in the sense of false advertising and broken inducements to vote. Disreputable.
Where is the fire in the belly of Joan Citizen to rebel against this blatant, proven, admitted misconduct? Where are the citizen idealists, the private objections from concerned lawyers, the occasional wealthy sponsor of the proper action to fight this corruption?
I do not know. It is beyond me to understand mass lemming behaviour, mass individual stupidity, plus the incredible greed of the offenders in high places. Is it illicit drugs, too many migrants with alien values, mismanagement of education, influence of mass media with captured minds, or my current suspect, social media? It has to be more than something in the drinking water. But it is extremely serious, even the biggest problem of our times.
