Media fear the thought of Elon Musk buying Twitter and allowing “free speech”

By Jo Nova

Free Speech is terrifying for bullies with no answers

It’s a travesty: Imagine if any old former President could say what they thought to anyone who wanted to listen?

The Elon Musk deal is on again, and Johnathon Turley has noticed that many in the media are not looking forward to having more freedom to express themselves on Twitter. Nothing says “propaganda hack” better than the journalists who want a safe-space so that people won’t be able to correct them, mock them, or report the news better than they do.

Free Speech is dangerous (for people who are corrupt):

“Be Afraid, Be Actually Afraid”: Reporters Panic At The Thought Of Twitter Restoring Free Speech Protections

by Johnathon Turley, ZeroHedge

“Be afraid, be actually afraid.”

Those words from former Politico Magazine editor Garrett M. Graff captures the hyperventilation in the media week. No it is not Vladimir Putin’s threat of unleashing a nuclear war or the word that our national debt has reached a staggering $31 trillion. No, it is the news that Elon Musk may go forward with the purchase of Twitter and . . . [triggering warning] . . . free speech protections might be restored on the platform.

There really is panic. Think about how poor journalism-school is when journalists say these things in public forums:

BBC journalist Dickens Olewe warned that “Guardrails will be dropped, misinfo & conspiracy theories will thrive. No functional alternatives available, this is it: a complete destruction of the global public square. Been nice y’all.”

PoliticusUSA head Sarah Reese Jones seemed to move from the desperate to the outright delusional: “Before 2020, Facebook deplatformed progressives, then it came for mainstream media and elevated only radicalized conservatives. Cut to 2022, we know Elon Musk plans to do same with Twitter. We know how damaging it will be.Tech giants pose ongoing threat to western democracy.”

That’s right, social media companies have been favoring conservatives and targeting progressives. That is why a wide array of conservative groups and figures have been banned or suspended. That is why the Hunter Biden laptop was buried before the election. That is why there are now numerous reports of backchannels with the government in censoring opposing views.

Euronews correspondent Shona Murray tweeted, “The end of Twitter as we know it is nigh.”

Ben Collins from NBC News, with no sense of irony — “it could affect the midterms”

Twitter ownership might affect the midterms...

Meanwhile many conservatives on Twitter are noticing their accounts are shrinking today. Is management deleting some bots?

It simply astonishes me that supposedly mature, educated adults could be so utterly unaware.

It demonstrates the sheer power of groupthink. People who are educated, reasonably sophisticated, often having a notable expertise or skill, yet on some topics, they exhibit a totalizing blind-spot, and all rationality and sense of balance goes out the window. Nothing can reach them. They lash out at some perceived enemy with an unhinged, unrestrained, hatred, often projecting their own insanity on to them. You know that groupthink has overtaken a topic when the greater part of the internal discussion is how to frustrate and discredit any external disagreement. This kind of thinking permeates the Climategate emails, even to the point of being comical at times.

I think he’s paying too much based on financials alone, especially given the huge number of fake accounts which the owners hid from him, but he is going to transform it into a free speech platform which will make it all worthwhile.

And to see the Left in meltdown in terror that people will again be able to express non-Leftist opinions makes it worthwhile for that aspect alone. We all know how the Left are terrified of alternative opinions or debate without the “protection” of censorship.

The hypocrisy is breathtaking, especially for the fears of influence of Twitter on the mid terms.
You have to add this to the suspicion that the Chinese CEO of an election software company sent the data of 2 million poll workers to China. This was ridiculed yesterday in the NYT as another outrageous ‘conspiracy theory’ but he was just arrested.

All these alleged ‘conspiracy’ theories are becoming admitted fact, even by the NYT. Hunter Biden’s lap tops and now the Chinese government being directly involved in election rigging and much more. The 2016 election was not stolen by the Russians. But Legacy Media l*es, Silicon Valley censorship and the CCP and the Clinton/Obama Democrats deceived the American public before, during and after the election. And they know it, which is why they fear free speech. And the Trump rallies are getting even bigger, a grass roots denial of the control of the media over the American people. The destruction of Democrat cities from Los Angeles to Chicago to New York continues and accelerates as families flee to the safety of Republican states.

The incoming Republican House and perhaps Senate select committees will be investigating a lot of people. Meanwhile Biden is urgently dumping what is left of the US Strategic reserve to forestall the massive gas price jump from the OPEC decision to lower production by 2 million barrels a day.

With 4 weeks to go. And the 2 year effort to blame MAGA for protesting massive election fraud and ‘insurrection’ will have to be revised as the truth about the 2020 election comes out. And Twitter censorship will be missing this time, one of their biggest weapons spiked.

The only downside to Musk’s purchase of “that company” is that he will be giving a lot of loot to loonies who will likely use that surge of fresh capital to build a “new” platform for their bile and / or indulge in other political activity.

Farcebook is the greatest “personal-data mining” operation in history, Twitter is not far behind.

That is true, but the loonies already have trillions in loot at their disposal to buy elections and impose nonsense like ESG.

Let’s hope that this allows more rational discussion and maybe even some increased DEM , Biden, Harris scrutiny before the mid terms next month.
But I’ll believe it when I see it and we’ll all know more in a few weeks.
I’d certainly like to see the moronic, snorting Hunter and the BIG Guy front and centre, but alas this will take more time.

I fully expect a massive tsunami of posts to the ‘new Twitter’ from people claiming to be right wing, espousing hate, inciting violence and pouring forth misogyny, racism, homophobia, etc in a totally OTT way.

This will come from lefties desperately trying to show that Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc are doing the right thing in censoring right wingers. The media will then gleefully trot out the, ‘We told you so. This is why we need to censor speech’ articles. They probably have them written already.

And in more FANTASTIC news, Facebook/META stock is in free fall, Facebook is closing offices and laying off its Leftoid staff and Zuck is no longer one of the ten richest people in America.

Borg Schmuckenturd sure could have used the $400 million he used to buy the 2020 US presidential election to save Farce-book.

The harm that the social(ist) media does to Western Civilisation in general and the war against traditional moral beliefs is extreme.

Twitter is directly involved and even cancelled the account of the US President. An extraordinary action.

E.g. in the United States, censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop affair was enough to have swung the last Presidential election. Even with election fraud (also censored) if US voters had known about the laptop many would have changed their vote, and Trump would be President (as indeed he should have been anyway) even with election fraud.

    https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2020/nov/26/cooper-biden-voters/

What they learned in an admittedly small survey was that one of every six Biden voters (17%) said they would not have voted for him had they known the facts about several of the news stories the national media refused to investigate thoroughly because they might have hurt his candidacy.

Had one of six voters not voted for Biden in the swing states, or voted for Trump instead, the election would have turned out differently.

The survey showed that 45.1% of Biden voters were unaware of the financial scandals of Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and how Hunter’s business had been wrapped up in Biden’s work in foreign affairs while vice president under President Barack Obama.

Elon Musk is a highly successful African American.

Why isn’t he being praised for his achievements?

Green Leftoid types certainly appreciate his main product, electric cars, which are part of the Green belief system, and only affordable by Leftist Elites, not working people.

Is it because he is a free speech-believing conservative?

Here’s freedom to him that wad read
Here’s freedom to hin that wad write
For there’s nane ever feared that the truth should be heard
But him that the wad indite.

Even the supposedly rightwing media is pushing “centrist” to mean not far left of Stalin.

“Senior ABC journalist defects to Labor as top media spinner
One of the state’s most senior journalists has defected to the state government to become the chief spin doctor to the premier”

No one truly believes in free speech. I like to think I do but I’m not so sure on that either.

Years ago now I called Radio National Australia Talks Back show on the topic of free speech.

These shows are highly filtered. You must tell a producer what you wish to say first, and they will decide if it’s worthy of air. This was when the left was very pro free speech before they decided it was hateful.

I said to the producer I don’t think free speech is viable. Clearly annoyed she growled, “why?”. Well, I don’t think society can cope with it, people only believe in it when it’s what they agree with, and that I’d possibly put myself in that bracket and most people would if they could be truly honest. We’ll leave that, she scorned, and the hang up beeps rang cold.

I thought that was quite funny.

You are right. Free speech is a power play. When you control it you call it free and when you are subjected to controllers’ action it isnt.

There’s a lot of spam, drivel, misinformation & paranoia taking up space on freer channels, like eg. Telegram, which distracts from debate and its appeal and some of that may be deliberate. Perhaps the best that can be expected is openly partial editorial lines from different platforms. Keeping a channel free from partiality may be beyond ability of most sponsors.

If Musk plays this properly, there will be an initial outcry from staff, most staff quitting, followed by investigations, followed by people being fired or prosecuted, followed by claw back claims of fraud, followed by a tanking of stock by 50% or more, followed by Musk buying up shares, followed by true transparency and a doubling of value and deletion of bots.

If he plays it proper, Twit may become the most valuable space on the web. Just got to cull the deadweight.

Twitter is a tool for monitoring dissent & dissenters. Not very effectively when the dissent is being censored and banned but in the right hands it could become very effective.
