Trump, State of the Union — Win til you are sick of winning

Donald Trump’s State of the Union is being described as one of the best ever. It was a magnificent campaign speech. Even the LA Times calls it “a pretty effective one”. I don’t watch many political speeches, but this one could be a “how to” guide.

The dour faced white suits of the #Metoo look decidedly unAmerican and self centred when Trump announces great results for all their token mascots and they can’t even clap.  Nancy Pelosi petulantly rips up the speech that Trump had to provide her with at 1:42:50. Some news services are trimming that bit off…

Trump shamelessly plugs his heroes and basks in their greatness.  Rush Limbaugh gets a Presidential Medal of Honor. Buzz Aldrin singled out early at the start. (6:30)

“This year American Astronauts will go back to Space on American Rockets.”

John Hindraker:

This puts the Democrats in a tough spot. Through the first half of the speech, President Trump reeled off one item of good news after another: Record low unemployment! Lowest black unemployment ever! Lowest Hispanic unemployment ever! Rising wages, especially at the bottom! Median net worth skyrocketing! And so on. The Democrats greeted all of this with stony silence. When Trump announced that in the last three years, 10 million people have gotten off welfare, the Democrats looked as though they were ready to cry. …

Trump bragged about American energy production and said nothing, not a syllable, about climate change. Exactly as it should be. Compare this to the Obama 2010 SOTU and the odd moment when he mentioned the “overwhelming evidence” and the audience laughed.  He didn’t realize it would be funny. That was weeks after ClimateGate.

His administration has cut more regulations than any other administration during it’s entire tenure.

Companies are coming back…

Unleashed a revolution in American Energy — the USA is now the number one producuer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world. For the first time in 65 years we are a net exporter of energy.

But there is too much clapping. These Americans…  ;- )  Could anyone imagine that happening downunder?

Trump nailed it all right. So much so that the democrats with their protests looked alien against the groundswell of achievement and applause at the end of every statement. Goddamit….some democrats were even applauding the man!

He is quite an amazing and resilient man to have dealt with all the hoaxes, backstabbers, traitors and saboteurs, and still have unflinchingly stuck to his agenda. Amazing really.

      AP,

      He’s a business man.

      He had a plan..

NOTHING was getting in his way to achieve that.

If only we in Australia had someone who cared about Australia

What an amazing turnaround there has been in America over the last few years.

Many of the formerly unemployed are now leaving home every day to go to work and earn a living.

They feel good about this and are unlikely to reinstall those living in the dream state of media hysteria who brought the nation undone.

    Go USA.

The lefty media have resorted to attributing this improvement in America’s condition on the policies of Obama. They think we’ve forgotten their complaints of the past 3 years that Trump had undone all Obama’s good work.

Interesting that some news outlets have edited Pelosi’s dummy spit. It’s often very enlightening to compare unedited YouTube videos with what gets edited out of traditional media broadcasts due to, ahem, “time constraints”.

The Liberals listen to the MSM too much…They need to be like Mr Trump…..

They also try wishy-washy stuff thinking they are going to win

      THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN…

The only problems with his statements, if you take away party, what he emphised, was what the house has proposed and his party in the Senate has not passed. But, we need another reganist tax hike, just to repair the damages done to the nation by excusing all companies and millionaires from the tax rolls. Or borrow from our children to at least keep what we have workable till they attain majority.u

“The only problems with his statements, if you take away party, what he emphised, was what the house has proposed and his party in the Senate has not passed”

Apart from the difficulty in parsing the content of this, the only thing the House has passed that the Senate has not is the deceitful and vile impeachment based on lies, innuendo and 3rd hand made up BS about what someone heard someone else say about someone.

The House has done bugger all since 2016 except try to overturn the vote of the People in 2016.

If there is ANY justice in the world, the Dems will be decimated in November and we will see the ringleaders of the coup don their new orange suits and enjoy the accommodations in Guantanamo.

To cap it all off of what has been awful week for the Dems, of their own making I might add, Trump will be acquitted today, probably bipartisanley. The big winner of the Iowa caucus was once again Trump. Un -electable Crazy Bernie came out as the Dem’s front runner. In all likelihood, were looking at four more years.

It reads like a media comment that requires “interpretation”.

Can anyone from the US decipher it?

The point about the current president is that he seems to have encouraged his nation to get busy and do things and put some solid purpose into their daily lives.

jim @#6 complains about Trump’s tax cuts for business.

He doesn’t understand that if you give business more money, it uses it to make more money. To make more money it has to employ more people. This is where the benefits flow to. More tax is collected from lower tax rates because more people are making money and paying tax.

The really strange thing about it is that so many of our scholars don’t know this.

I only watch a short portion which included, I’m pleased to say, the tribute to Rush Limbaugh. Dr. Roy Spencer has a great post on that this morning with his personal perspective on what Rush has meant for him.

To keep peace in my home, I had not intended to watch any of it, but I couldn’t resist.

To matter who is the Democrat challenger, I WILL vote for Donald Trump PRIMARILY because of his climate change policies! There are plenty of other reasons to support him, and I do, but the climate policies significantly weaken the world’s climate alarmists’ impact.

Moreover, we are having our third long cold winter in a row here the NH. iles and piles of snow and cold, cold, temps. Right now it 0 degrees F where I am.           Sounds like what Australia is doing at the moment;

enduring the Dream “we had to have”.

We are now a de-industrialised nation on the brink.

The ultimate goal is to have our schools and universities full, “our” ABC and associated media full of woke interviewers talking to an endless stream of “professors” and nobody at work getting their hands dirty.

I expect to see ramifications from our bushfires that haven’t been dreamt of yet.

It would be for sure and certain that some carbon sequestration investments have gone up in smoke with there fires.

Formulae have been developed for calculating the carbon content of vegetative ground cover. Couple those formulae with a price for carbon and you have a valuation of the carbon “lost” in these fires.

So now lawyers will be sifting through the ashes with a plan to attach blame for the fires to somebody that still has cash for the purpose of rendering compensation.

Blame might not be limited to those who initiated fires. They will also be trying to attach blame on the basis of failure to limit the fires.

Just imagine the dollar value that they will put on this local fire that supposedly burned 5,000 sq km of National Parks. That carbon was just written off at zero in earlier times.

When you think it couldn’t get worse, the Democrat party finds a way. Pelosi (you have to pass it to read it) ripped up the state of the union speech. That says it all. It’s the destruction of the good BECAUSE it is good.

Trump Derangement Syndrome and hate everything BECAUSE Trump and fly over country citizens are for it, is only the beginning. It rapidly goes down hill from there. Abysmal failure in Iowa is simply the next step toward Democratic dreams and fantasies (nightmares?).

The problem is that the people who are determined to control everything and everybody do it, in part, because their lives are out of control. By controlling everything, they believe they will at long last find peace and serenity. However, all that is accomplished is the spreading of their internal angst to one and all. They make their problems a problem for everyone without diminishing their own angst. In fact, they increase it exponentially. This leaves them with only doing more of the same only more brutally. Rinse and repeat endlessly. It cannot end well.

News Flash. A major world leader gave a major speech without a treacly bow to “Climate Change”. Huzzah! I’m sure Greta is furious this morning.

The climate will be changeable, and sometimes nasty, and we will cope. Prosperity is how.

Nature is right now providing Africa with locusts. Africa is likely to face a food deficit. Will ‘Belt and Road’ step in to save the day? The
pampered Euro farmers? Or will a prosperous US again be the source of aid?

The speech was ordinary, competent, sufficiently dignified, appropriate, and good theater. It is worth noting that half the audience was in denial of even
fundamental realities, and certainly lacking in the bipartisanship so often cherished in name only.

As the major alternative energy projects in the US mature, they are failing, as is true in much of the world. Some are perceived, in retrospect, to have been frauds
from the get-go; with partisan hacks getting large payouts of public funds, and leaving behind debt and under- or non- performance. Nonetheless, it seems likely that
the left will campaign on the duopoly of climate change crisis and free medical care for all.

IN the US political system, we often get to make binary choices. It will be interesting to see how this one goes.

Carter was equally bad from a policy point of view and even more ineffective as a leader, but at least Americans could see this and didn’t re-elect him. The fact that Obama was re-elected when his transparent goal was to make America irrelevant tells me that it was the most ignorant electorate ever that allowed Obama to continue his reign of economic deconstruction.

This is why the Democrats prefer minority candidates. Since identity politics and virtue signaling are the primary tactics of the political left, many are coerced into voting for a minority candidate because they don’t want to think of themselves as being prejudiced.

But there is too much clapping

But there is so much good news and so many positive achievements, it’s hard not to stand up and applaud.

Even Nancy Pelosi had to stand up and clap on occasion.

But there’s so much good news … If only the US presidency wasn’t limited to two terms.

All those good results are there because it’s time for them. Trump’s terms of office have been well positioned on the global economic cycle. It’s long enough for Trump. The world economy has reached the end of the recession it was thrown into in October 2017 and over the rest of this year it will accelerate rapidly. Everyone will forget 2008 and pump the money pumps. Trump will reach the end of his tenure in 2024/5 and will leave office with the American economy booming. He may even be acclaimed as the Best President Yet.

In the absence of a World War or some other disaster of that scale or larger, it will perform like a winner until 2026. The President after Trump won’t know what’s hit him/her in October 2026 — it will be 2008 all over again, plus some. The recession from June 2027 through to 2029 will be deep.

If there’s ever going to be a Democrat president, that could be a good time to have one: all the worst of their climate policies will be brought in. And the economy will crash, big time.

The electorate will most likely be viciously antipathetic.

I did enjoy Nancy Girl’s little fit of pique in the background. Has the biter been bit?
Trying to impeach a president with all those good results is not going to do her political future much good at all; it could be an effective hemp collar for her.

Like all views, projections and prognostications of the future, this comes with no guarantees 😀
If it follows past history with no major disasters (like Big Rocks From Space or Nuclear Wars) then that’s what we have to look forward to. Any and all responsibility or liability for investment performances on your part rest solely with you.

Originally it was not specified. Washington set the precedent by stepping down after two terms when he could have easily been reelected again.

Then FDR was reelected four times. Granted in 1940 with WWII underway and the US trying to stay out of it, but realistically that was unlikely, it was felt that the situation warranted an exception to the two term precedent. The war was still underway in 1944.

After WW2 a constitutional amendment was passed specifying two terms.

I think it unlikely that Clinton would have voluntarily stepped down had he not been required to do so. Likewise Obama. Their supporters wanted to keep the “60’s revolution” in power momentum thing rolling. Then 911 and the War on Terror would probably have cemented his incumbency like WW2 did FDR’s.

We dodged a bullet in Gore looking back on things now. Try to fathom the Clintons and Obama in power virtually in perpetuity for a 1/3 of a century.

Not completely sure what your point is here, Young Hatband.

Much is made by some people that in 2016 Clinton won the popular vote, ergo, she was ROBBED!!!

That would be wonderful if the system was based on the popular vote, but it isn’t. It is based on the electoral college using a system that – if I understand my history correctly – was purposely designed to prevent the more popular states bullying the smaller states by sheer weight of numbers.

Winning the colleges is how you become president. That is the agreed process. Outside of provable corruption NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.

It is like trying to argue your team won at cricket because they hit more sixes. Sixes are wonderful but they are not listed in the agreed rules for winning a game.

So… not really sure what your point is.

Trump understood the game and campaigned accordingly. Clinton did not. Or something. Either way, under the legally agreed methods used, Trump won.

The Democrats have thrown one of the biggest tantrums in history since 2016, Pelosi tearing up the speech was just another outburst in between sobbing.

I was perhaps symbolic of tearing up any hope of winning in 2020.

Objectively, American voters need to ask themselves what Democrats could do better than the current administration is doing.

Unemployment? Not a chance. You can’t improve upon “lowest ever”.
Jobs? Doubtful, as trade agreements are bringing back manufacturers from overseas as well as improving the lives of workers everywhere.
Income disparity? No, because the fastest growth is at the bottom among blue-collar workers.
Energy policy? Environment? Regulatory oversight? Taxation? Interest rates? No, no, no, no, and no.

There’s virtually nothing that Democrats are proposing that could improve on allowing the status quo to continue another four years. The only thing they have to run on is their hatred of DJT. But objectively, they’re fighting a losing battle.

26 Sept 2019: TheFederalist: Top Romney Adviser Worked With Hunter Biden On Board Of Ukrainian Energy Company
          By Erielle Davidson
According to web archives, top Mitt Romney adviser Joseph Cofer Black, who publicly goes by “Cofer Black,” joined Burisma’s board of directors while Hunter Biden was also serving on the board…
According to The New Yorker, Hunter joined Burisma’s board in April of 2014 and remained on it until he declined to renew his position this past May. Meanwhile, according to Burisma’s website, Black was appointed in February of 2017 and continues to serve on its board. The timelines would indicate that Black and Biden worked together at Burisma, and indeed, web archives from late 2017 show Black and Biden listed simultaneously on the board…

Black joined the CIA in 1974 and eventually climbed the ranks to become director of the National Counterterrorism Center from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, President George W. Bush appointed him ambassador at large and coordinator for counterterrorism. He later worked at Blackwater as a vice chairman before joining Romney’s campaign as a “special adviser” on Romney’s Foreign Policy and National Security Advisory Team in October of 2011. In 2017, Black joined the board of Burisma…

5 Feb: The Verge: Motherboard just published the terrible app that caused chaos at the Iowa caucuses
The news organization wants it looked at by more tech and security researchers
    By Nick Statt
According to editor-in-chief Jason Koebler, “Trust and transparency are core to the US electoral process,” and “that’s why Motherboard is publishing the app that malfunctioned in Iowa.”
“The app’s failure — and the widespread attention this failure has received — spurred chaos on election night, followed by speculation, conspiracy theories, and political jockeying,” Koebler writes in an article that contains a link to the Android APK file, which anyone can download and sideload onto a compatible Android smartphone. “…

Motherboard has a separate article alongside the one containing the app link that features numerous perspectives and analysis from tech and security professionals, one of which said the software looks basically like an app built by a student learning how to program and following online tutorials…READ ON

    by Joe Schoffstall
Acronym, the dark-money group behind the mobile app that derailed the news cycle by causing widespread delays in the Iowa caucus results, received funding from the political operations of Tom Steyer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, financial records reveal…

…Steyer’s NextGen Climate Action Committee made a $45,000 donation to the nonprofit and paid another $90,000 for its data consulting services…
Acronym’s PAC, Pacronym, was also a major beneficiary of wealthy Democrats’ funding. The committee received six-figure contributions from director Steven Spielberg, former actress Kate Capshaw, and liberal billionaire George Soros’s Democracy PAC in late 2019…

Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf said Tuesday morning that the department’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency had previously offered to test the app but was rebuffed…

As much as I complain about that Orange fellow, its quite horrifying to think what the alternative would have been. We really dodged a bullet at that last election. Unless Gabbard or Yang rise suddenly to the top, I suppose its better to stick with this Trump. He’s had great success creating jobs, and getting an agreement that the Chinese have to try harder to change their policies such that another 200 billion in American goods is sold into China. That is a real triumph. Its actually a triumph for free trade even if tariffs and the threat of tariffs is what got him that deal. But while unemployment is a lot lower than it was it is not now low. The Americans are working with rigged economic figures.

It would be nice if Trump had an American foreign policy. But he’s been such an extremist in that department we are likely to get a pleasing backlash sooner or later. So I suppose its all for the best.

What is amazing is the complete dysfunction of the Democratic top leadership. You would not think any institution could degenerate to that degree. Their stupidity is a continual source of wonderment.

3 Dec 2019: WashingtonTimes: Rush Limbaugh producer ‘Bo Snerdley’ founds new PAC for black conservatives
With partner Autry Pruitt, he promises to ‘make Black Americans Republican again’
    by Jennifer Harper
He is well-known on the air waves as “Bo Snerdley,” the senior producer for Rush Limbaugh’s daily talk radio show, heard by an audience of 14 million. His real name is James Golden, however — and he is now on a mission to “make Black Americans Republican again.”

With fellow black conservative Autry Pruitt, Mr. Golden has founded New Journey PAC, a political action committee that promotes conservative values among black Americans — and everyone else for that matter. The organization includes MAGA.BLACK, a new online destination for one and all, they say.
“For 80 years, the Democratic Party has taken the black vote for granted. Under the leadership of President Trump, Black-Americans enjoyed the lowest unemployment rate ever recorded. The Trump approach has produced an economy that works for all Americans, yet Democrats are promising more of the same — votes for crumbs. It is simply not enough to stand on the sidelines and hope for the best,” the two founders say in their mission statement.

“The concept was not to build a destination solely for black conservatives or to solely promote black conservatism, but to be a destination for all conservatives. Frankly, we founded this destination out of frustration. We are fed up with the racial narratives that the left uses to paint conservatives as bigots and racists, simply because we have a different view of public policy and politics,” the statement said.

Among the goals of the new PAC is to “debunk the phony liberal narrative that Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, evangelicals and even conservative Democrats are racist.”

Mr. Golden believes the Republican Party’s historical ties with black Americans is ‘inarguable’ — but has been “purposefully ignored by academia, and the main-stream media” for the last five decades.

“The result is that entire generations of Americans have been subjected to a false narrative about who Republicans are, their role in the civil rights movement, and their interest in seeing all Americans, including blacks, achieving the American Dream,” Mr. Golden said.

The two founders also cite promising poll numbers from Rasmussen Reports and Emerson College which now place support for President Trump among blacks at an “astonishing” ***34%.

***4 Feb: Fox News: Liz Peek: Democrats’ impeachment flop sets stage for boffo State of the Union speech by Trump
Trump will also point out that the strong jobs market has helped minorities, with African American and Hispanic unemployment also at record lows. That’s one reason African American support for Trump has doubled over the past year. A new Rasmussen survey finds 42 percent of black voters approve of the president, up from 21 percent a year ago. The poll echoes recent findings by Marist and Emerson, which also report the president’s popularity among blacks increasing.

To be clear: pollsters do not expect President Trump to win 30 percent of the black vote. He doesn’t need to. Just as he unexpectedly won in 2016 by wooing blue-collar workers long taken for granted by Democrats, Trump’s prospects this November are measurably improved by any significant increase in minority approval. He got an estimated 8 percent of the black vote in 2016; an increase to 15 percent would mean an easy victory this time around…

4 Feb: The Hill: Trump hits highest Gallup approval rating of his presidency
    By Brett Samuels
The boost in Tuesday’s poll is largely attributable to a surge in support for Trump from Republicans and independents. The poll found 94 percent of Republicans approve of Trump’s performance, up from 88 percent in early January.
Among independents, 42 percent said they approve of Trump, up from 37 percent in early January…
