Time Magazine wins Woke Joke of the Year Award

Some teenagers risk ten years in a Chinese jail. While another risks school detention as the chosen puppet of Big Government and Big Money.

Guess which one Time Magazine thinks is more worthy?

Raw nature smashing in the background.

A young girl, pure and clean.

A white jacket, symbolic of Arthurian purity of purpose, and the most prestigious global award given on behalf of a grateful world.

Overwhelming in its clarity: what a message.

But please, don’t analyse this too deeply, this is pure Hollywood.

Comrade of the Year – aka Whiney Child – is wonderfully satirised in thepeoplescube(dot)com complete with red hammer & sickle on the front of her Arthurian-esque (pink?) trademark oversized hoodie.

We learned as kids to NEVER turn our backs on the ocean, not even for a moment, yet here is the CCCult’s model “font of wisdom” showing she has still learnt nothing about life, the sea, self-preservation…

      * Uncle Joe “Sniffy” Biden makes an appearance in another version at the above link, as does a version of da Vinci’s “Moaning Lisa”.

The criterion is “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.”

StefanL – yes, but Greta was really only a big sensation in the media’s eyes – lots of noise but not a very high percentage of people actually took her message seriously. For impact on people’s lives I’d say Trump and Xi Jinping swamp anything Greta did. Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize for doing…..what?….not actually starting a war?

          Deano,

I was responding to the first comment in this thread by Robert Rosicka about dictators being named “Man of the Year”.

Congratulations to Greta Thunberg, who proves by skipping school, not actually accomplishing anything, and having a larger carbon (sic) footprint than almost anyone in the world, you too can be praised by a failing magazine looking to virtue signal with the wokest, worst apocalypse. Ever.

Those ennobling TIME covers. Was there ever such spookery, such statist dogspew? Just the sight of TIME in a dentist’s waiting room is enough to take my mind off dentistry. But don’t get me started on the media. I never know when to stop.

Yeah, I’m far more trad conservative than right wing, so I’m biased toward most of E Michael Jones’ positions. But the bloke says it all for me about Greta, or rather about what’s produced Greta, so I’m linking him…

Our western civilisation is doomed – notice how quiet China is as we destroy ourselves?

Notice how quiet most Australians are too. Not to worry. Eventually we will yell and scream when the pain threshold is surpassed.

Time magazine scores another goal for stupidity. This young girl is being despicably used by her parents and possibly others and Time has no qualms about joining the party. Time Magazine used to be worth reading but that went to the dogs years ago. Now, nothing…

People who live in major cities such as New York become detached from nature.
They live in a virtual world detached from actuality or how the natural universe works.
They man made social construct that has a herd (heard) mentality and where adherence to the social order is of paramount importance.
Consequently they are gullible and naive and easily manipulated by anyone (in this case the eco fascists who prey on their ignorance and herd mentality.

Communism, Maoism, Nazism all over again
Repeat a lie or even have a modicum of truth buried in a gross lie will lead the herd until like all cults harsh reality hits home
Unfortunately we may lose our western civilisation before returning point is reache
As nature abhors vacuum, the strong (China. India and/or Indonesia) will just walk in and take over.
    The green activists wont win!
They are just tools by the great powers who know how to play the geopolitical game.

At the moment I’m reading the book, ‘Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds’. The book is by Charles Mackay. It was first published in 1841 and a second edition in 1852. Its current printing is published by Barnes & Noble, New York, in 2004.

It is a fascinating account of similar sociological events that happened prior to Mackay’s time and which are still taking place today. In places it makes me realize that nothing much has changed with regard to the madness of crowds.

Most interesting is the way the book describes how large masses people just fasten to various prophets of doom without any critical thought involved. This puts me in mind of the effect Greta has had and I’m not actually criticizing Greta. She has a right to her opinions and the right to express them. But I am criticizing the vast numbers of people who just accept her opinions ardently and without question.

I recommend this book. It’s hard going in places but well worth it.

I guess they have to use shock tactics to sell the magazine. All the leftists will dutifully fork out the cash, because to them it is an act that makes a political statement. Otherwise, why would anybody buy it? I guess the legacy publications exist entirely on subscriptions from government departments, agencies, institutions, libraries etc – and maybe that’s why so many formerly good publications have had to ‘go left’.

Time magazine still exists? Does anybody actually read it? It was no longer considered relevant when I was a kid decades ago.

Håkan – good link. it includes:

“Svante Arrhenius’s disciple, meteorologist Carl-Gustaf Rossby, graced the cover of Time Magazine in 1956 and foretold a time to come”

20 Sept 2019: Union of Concerned Scientists blog: I’m a Scientist and Greta Thunberg’s Speech to Congress Inspires Me
    by Brenda Ekwurzel,senior climate scientist
I was honored to meet Greta Thunberg, the 16-year old climate activist…
Moments before Greta’s powerful speech to members of Congress on September 18, 2019 in the largest room on Capitol Hill, the Ways and Means Committee room, she was preparing in a small room. Those of us with her stood a little away so that she might think about the words she was about to share with the world. Her father, Svante Thunberg, deftly encouraged us to speak in low tones while still engaging in friendly conversation. I remarked to him that I admired his first name because I appreciate that he shares it with the Swedish scientist and Nobel laureate in chemistry, Svante Arrhenius, who made noteworthy contributions in climate science by pointing out how different levels of carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere would affect Earth’s climate (the so-called “greenhouse effect”).

Svante Thunberg smiled and replied that he grew up knowing that he was related to, and named after, the Nobel laureate. However, until recently no one in Greta’s family quite understood exactly what Arrhenius was honored for. Mr. Thunberg said he himself did not truly appreciate it until Greta started to seriously learn more about climate change. With a twinkle in his eye and mirthful irony he posited this as a kind of an indicator that even Arrhenius’s own descendants were not sufficiently aware of the climate science—which likely means this applies to most people.

Sure enough, if you look at the Nobel Prize website page, “Svante August Arrhenius was born on February 19, 1859, the son of Svante Gustaf Arrhenius and Carolina Christina Thunberg.” Greta is distantly related to Svante Arrhenius.
Full circle: we have now received two warnings from Swedish thinkers, one from the 19th century and one from the 21st century…

Adults like me are moved to see the inspiring momentum of the thousands of youth like Greta who are challenging “business as usual” and fighting for their future. Let’s act now. #UniteBehindTheScience.

I read to today about a bunch of brave people that risked their lives to fly out to White Island in NZ and recovery bodies for the families of those killed. A bunch of people risking their lives to really do no more than give comfort to others. Greta Thunberg, person of the year? makes me sick.
