David Attenborough’s reputation was last seen falling off a cliff

Attenborough turned a natural phenomenon into an advert for the Climate-scare industry.  As Benny Pieser at GWPF points out Falling Walruses were turned into the new posterboy of climate change, “It would be a sad legacy if he did not set the record straight.””

Here’s the brief synopsis in case you don’t feel like watching walrus horror flicks.

Though this old video that Polar Bear Expert Susan Crockford found is kinda novel — you can see scientists test theories and then throw them out.

Biologists in 1994 noticed walruses falling down a steep incline. They tried to figure it out. They scratch their heads. Admit they don’t know. They saw it happen three years in a row,  and as many as 120 walruses met a flattening end.

The first theory was the animals were trying to escape severe storms, but the next year the weather was perfect. Walruses rolled and crashed again. So did that theory.

The second theory, was that perhaps the sights and sounds of humans were putting them out… but no — discussions with locals suggested not.

The third theory was that they were suicidal. But Dr Seagers, quaintly, doesn’t think we should put human thoughts into a walrus. We have no information, he says with disarming honesty. The lack of any data wouldn’t stop modern climate scientists of course. They could always do a Monte-Carlo on 3,000 model runs of simulated walrus brains.

In the end Dr Seager thinks it’s probably just that the mass walrus gathering has become too crowded. He says they spread out and change the terrain making new paths, and they simply have access to higher ground to fall off from now (or something like that).

I’m glad I’m not a walrus, though some gullible Greens must be feeling like one.

EPA post delayed while I solve a html glitch with references…

There were other flaws in the Netflix documentary which we’ve discussed before.

Perhaps more useful would have been to show how many temp stations reporting stations have been in the same location for a long time. I’m willing to bet a very low percentage.

I tried for a day or so to follow Tony’s posts. ON BOM
But as there have been 9-10 in a day or so
      I gave up.
Standing under a Niagara of info is too exhausting.
      Ken’s two posts a day
At Ken’s Kingdom is much better.
      Gundagai this morning
Where BOM put’s a weather station in a caravan park !
Just how incompetent can BOM get ?

Tony left out 2 stations with historical long temperature records, Echuca and Hay, which show no substantial warming. But, of course, the BoM ignore temperature data before 1910. The impression the BoM gives the media and public is that The Federation Drought, and the heatwaves and droughts before then, never existed.

But…but everyone is supposed to forget about history, verified fact, and validated theory. It is the crises of the moment that is supposed to consume the thoughts, fears, and anxieties of everyone. The consequential panic is to cause them to forget about the necessity of proof and fall willingly over the edge of the abyss to their deaths along with all the walruses.

Actually stopping, looking, studying, and thinking to understand the situation was and is not going to be allowed. We must DO SOMETHING NOW!!!!! We cannot wait for rational considerations to take effect. Something a walrus cannot do even to save its life but that we can.

Which is the paradigm that those things called smartphones enable perfectly…..20 second attention spans are developed, and create the illusion of knowledge thats really only based on other peoples words that can be googled ( assuming the results havent been left wing filtered ) then regurgitated as “fact”.

The more we know about the general population and how ignorant of science ( and rational thought ) it is, the scarier it gets…..

A 20 second attention span is exactly what the “brave new generation” cannot deliver. If the scene does not change every 3 to 5 seconds, they get bored and drift of into fantasy, AR, VR, and the latest computer game. Reality is so stable and predictable. Nothing really changes. It’s no fun.

When I was a teacher, I could deal with a 20 second attention span and actually teach some physics and mathematics. I don’t know how to do it on a 3 second span and I don’t think it possible.

Throw chalk at your students – as my Maths teacher did to us daydreamers, cartoonists, snoozers, etc.

Oh right, chalk’s banned from classrooms eh, being made from calcium sulfate or some toxic pollution stuff.

Bring back the cane! Whip those lazy little fantasists into shape! Corporal punishment never hurt nobody… 🙂

Don’t be too critical of the young! It is their elders who are shoving this stuff down their throats. Kudos to those who resist. But for those who believe what every manipulative device known to humankind is being used to make them believe, well, there is hope. But how cynical might they become when they learn how duplicitous their elders have been! Why should they believe any of us about anything ever again?

          50

          • #
            Lionell Griffith

Sadly, the issue is not believing. Believing is easy. All you have to do is accept everything your are told and BELIEVE!

The key to the future is knowing how to know and then actually working toward knowing something. Such a thing is not seen as relevant to their lives so they follow the easy path, believe, and just want to have fun.

Tomorrow and especially the day after, they will have to know something. Surprise! Their empty minds give them nothing of value and they join the crowd. The crowd that is heading rapidly toward the bottom of the abyss where they will join all the dead walruses.

          Lionel Griffth,

How about you refrain from attacking others based on age alone? You are comitting an act of dire fraudulence with your utter nonsense; much to your misinformation, the so-called “brave new generation” is actually more right-winged than our “generation”(s)—thereby, attacking solely based on age, is downright insidious—and I shall urge you to withdraw your statement(s) at once.

Attention-span has all to do with the individual himself, rather than his entire age demographic; in fact, my nephew—and likewise most country lads—are very right-winged and logical, and have tended even more towards the right as of late.

Henceforth, at all costs—do NOT associate those urban elitist scoundrels with rural folks. Pardon my anger…I merely despise attacks based on age, i.e. something of which is entirely out of anyone’s control. Just remember this: Greta Thunberg does NOT represent the majority of youth, especially those of whom are rural.

Some walruses, their own lives destroy,
Down steep cliffs like a rag doll or toy,

    Could by chance misconstrue,

David Attenborough seems to come from a very elite family and probably doesn’t feel the need to go too deeply into the things that are put before him to endorse.
Falling walruses, seems to be logically a human climate change issue, tick.

Just spotted a climate walrus leap off a cliff. It’s called Harry. An elitist walrus if there ever was one.

“I spend 99% of my life traveling the world by commercial, occasionally there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe — it’s generally as simple as that.”

    https://time.com/5667284/prince-harry-defends-private-jet-travalyst/

What about the rest of us and our families, Harry?

“Britain’s Prince Harry said on Wednesday [global warming] was a daily threat for the people of Fiji …”

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-royals-fiji/prince-harry-highlights-daily-threat-of-climate-change-on-visit-to-fiji-idUSKCN1MY0TI

Don’t panic. Harry is using paper straws.

If I were Harry or another top Royal, politician, or celebrity, I would travel and stay in places that are safe and private. The term paparazzi comes to mind.
I seriously don’t understand British Royalty at all, but insofar as it exists I’ll give them a break on this issue.
Recall August 27, 1979, Lord Louis Mountbatten was killed.

By restricting their exposure in public places they also make it safer for “the rest of us and our families.

One of the worst aspects of Royal Leadership is that they are heavily invested in the local Renewables scene and that by extension anyone opposing “renewablesun” is criticizing that family which is above criticism.

It makes the possibility of creating a real, functional and economic electricity generation and distribution system for the general population.

It makes you a bit uncertain about the quality of their leadership and makes you want to ask whether they take mains power like everyone else and/or do they have substantial back-up diesels at the palace and country residences.

I’d say they would. They also know when the grid finally falls apart, they will have backup gennies and huge underground diesel tanks to last for years.

As to leadership, as weve seen, things like the Epstein mess reach to the highest levels, whats to say there isnt other odious things lurking that have compromised leadership in many places?

Walruses are smart, yet simple creatures lacking imagination. Humans have imagination in spades and invented weapons of mass destruction, a form of suicide.

Walrus and humans occasionally get themselves up a tree and there is no way to get down, but usually migrational gatherings go swimmingly.

From memory, in the Attenborough doco, polar bears were seen in the background, and other researchers said that this is common, that they had seen this before – the walrus climbs up the other side which is just sloped, not vertical, the Polar bears get between them and they way they came, and so they exit stage left, and come to a very flat and sticky end.

It at least makes more sense than “the walrus was on top of an iceberg and climate change made some fall off so they all committed suicide”

We must ban polar bears before it’s too late!

P.S. Peter Ridd was just interviewed on a radio station here (Newstalk ZB?). I’m in the middle of another house-shift (the owner is bailing Hong Kong and returning to NZ so we’ve got to vacate) so I only heard snippets. Will see if I can locate a link later on.

As one who is self trained and has mastered Darwinian evolutionary science in a single lifetime, i have to speak up when it is necessary and on this occasion explain the Walruses challenging a cliff are a pristine, text book example of Darwinian ‘survival of the fittest’ at work.

Only the very strongest Walrus’s survive the descent from the cliff face.

It took David Attenborough a lifetime to create his reputation as a naturalist.

But only a few short years to destroy it as he converted to the climate change religion.

    I preferred David Bellamy.

Walrus’s pushed over a cliff by the pressure of others crowding in below reminds me of football crowds. There dozens of humans at the edge of a crowd die as they are pushed against fences (cliffs) or narrow passageways. Nothing unusual, just walrus crowds behaving like human crowds. Therefore – stay away from crowds!

Bellamy was always ahead of the Rabbitborough. More personable, presented information well without the condescending and droning tone we have come to know.
His big mistake was saying that these numbers don’t add up.

    chicanery, smoke and mirrors.

The care of the british royal family for the environment is a complete joke . Charles , who is Harrys father bought property at Orchid Island close to Vero beach Florida approx 40 years ago for his polo-horse hobby . He arranged the building of stables and training-ranges where previously had been the best grapefruit-groves of the whole world : Orchid Island. Aided by its special micro-climate Orchid Island produced the very best eating quality grapefruit , but its skin was too tender to handle through the regular supermarket-channels . Instead of creating a market for this outstanding fruit , which the jewish traders at the us eastcoast tried , Charles bought the territory from the grove-owners for an undisclosed large sum . Where once the best cultivar of grapefruit in the world existed is nowadays grass-fields for his polo-horse hobby in the wintertime . Charles is able to explain this in the press as human progress with a greenish undertone . Well he must have learned Harry something .

DA was undoubtedly just reading a script and promoting an agenda, albeit one he was happy to endorse.

The WWF has it seems to me turned into an extremist political organisation.

    https://www.wwf.org.uk/updates/our-planet-trailer

The WWF is firmly embroiled in spreading (perhaps even THE origin of) the current hysteria about the fires in the Brazilian Amazon, and the papers in the UK have apocalyptic WWF adverts of the rain forest appealing for yet more cash from the gullible – as if our governments, the UN and these NGOs and charities aren’t already swimming in enough of our mostly stolen/extorted cash.

What’s Walrus for “Hold my beer and watch this!”?

1994, huh? Had those scientists stopped by my old home town on their way back to civilization they might have cleared up the mystery. Every summer, throngs would haul out to the Cutbanks to watch other people (mostly young males) sign a waiver, put on an old pair of skis, and tumble down the slope. Older wiser males had told them that participating would improve their chances of getting laid, without revealing that their prospective mate would probably turn out to be a walrus.

    In case you’re skeptical…

The “Sandblast” was first held in 1972 and attracted participants from all over the world, including Canadian ski champions. It was discontinued in 2004 after three people were hurt while trying to navigate the course on a couch rather than skis.
