Forget Climate “apartheid”: to increase human rights we should emit more CO2

More Fake News to scare the kiddies

Communication pollution

“Climate Apartheid” is just the latest round of Thesaurus-Torture, whereupon people with no clue about anything make up a meaningless buzz-phrase to tell us we are about to lose something we never had.

The Big-Gov-PR-Generator randomly combines climate with any bad word in the dictionary then post hoc rationalizes it to pretend they’ve discovered something. By default they also delete 100,000 years of history. Eons of slavery, genocide and war simply never happened.

Why do we pay a UN Expert to tell us inanities and stoke the fires?

UN report warns coming ‘climate apartheid’ will split Earth between ‘those who escape’ and ‘those who will suffer’

UN “expert” says human rights may not survive.

May not survive? The only places in the world with any human rights are the ones with massive emissions of CO2.

The kindest thing we could do for any nation is to help them use their own resources and produce more CO2. It will increase their quality of life more than nearly any other thing we could do bar from making them a protectorate.

In the Handy-guide for Tyrants and Tin pots, surely Step 2 is: tap primal emotions — in this case “fear” and “jealously”

A particularly dire report from the United Nations Human Rights Council has upped the ante in the fight against climate change, warning that a potential “climate apartheid” could fracture the global population, splitting the planet between the wealthy and the rest of the world who will be “left to suffer.”

It combines 100 other dubious studies to produce a new dimension of nonsense:

The report, published on June 25 and written by U.N. human rights and poverty specialist Philip Alston, combines the work of more than 100 other studies and reports. It goes into particular detail about what will happen if there is too great of a reliance on the private sector to combat the changing climate.

And the answer is always “more government”. Because the entire global private sector is just like GoldmanSachs, right?

“Rather than helping the world adapt to climate change, privatizing basic services and social protection may be a form of maladaptation,” Alston wrote in the report. “When hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc in New York in 2012, stranding low-income and vulnerable New Yorkers without access to power and healthcare, the Goldman Sachs headquarters was protected by tens of thousands of its own sandbags and power from its generator.”

UN logo, full socialist flavour
The mythical climate-apartheid is coming. Sure. The poor, after all, have always had more ability to withstand the elements and pick nice safe places to live. Presumably rich people got trapped in castles or something, eh?

Alston likened it to a coming “climate apartheid,” where the wealthy are able to mitigate some of the potentially catastrophic effects, such as food insecurity, disease and death, and the poor, “who have contributed the least to emissions and have the least capacity to react, will be the most harmed.”

The answer is to help everyone get rich, not to “get the rich” instead.

It’s all another UN analytical train-wreck — if only we put up enough solar panels and gave the government power over everything, then we’d all be happy together, and have equal incomes? It’s just the Soviet Union on Solar — and we know how that will work out. Same collapse, just faster. Death by double-starvation instead by Gulag. Some “progress”.

The UN report by Philip Alston supports the Paris agreement — paradoxically encapsulating all the most useless, toxic and harmful solutions, destroying wealth, reducing CO2 and, based on the last million years of history, guaranteed to reduce human rights.

The upside of papers like this is that the bolder these people become, the more openly they state what they’re actually trying to achieve as well. It’s all about the dollars, baby!!!

It’s more about accumulating control through extortion. Money isn’t really a limiting factor to the Socialists at the UN, as they believe that other peoples money is free and use the threat of CAGW to enable extortion.

extortion: The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.

As the Big Lie gets bigger and bigger, at some point it becomes a farce everyone can see.

At that point, the Elite will do something drastic, like start a world war.

War is especially useful to pass odious laws that strip people of more rights and protections.

And of course, who is to say when the “war” will ever stop?

It’s all about totalitarian control. Money isn’t the goal here, it’s the status of royalty while everyone else gives you reverence. Money being incidental, though they are so worthy that they demand your money and subservience.

Yes, we used to get laughed at when stating that the UN wants to control the world. Now it’s a lot more obvious, but there are still many who just don’t believe such a thing can happen.

At no point in their report did they even entertain the idea of a free world. Not the uncontrolled outcome they envisioned, nor the solution they proposed. Their heart is set on world control with them at the head.

Sorry Jo, the Climate Apartheid meme is just a fluffy bit on nonsense
Here’s a real issue : ABC bias about Peter Ridd
I just had a thought : has the ABC’s Radio National program, the Law Report covered the Peter Ridd unfair dismissal case against JCU at all
So I looked through all it’s programs for 2019.
Not a tiddle of a mention..
        NOT important to the ABC
And thus the ABC is not MY ABC
It is being by and for some other bastards.
If it cannot be changed, it must be abolished.
        Unfortunate..
But after 15 years of watching reading
and listening to biased one sided crap
        The only sensible path forward.

Personally, I’ll never understand why people continue to see this as a money grab unless their own interests are “money centered.” Yes, money will flow, but it doesn’t matter if it is AGW or something else, money will flow.

Why people don’t see this for what it truly is all about, remains a mystery. This is about population reduction. Period. Yes, it is also for “world government,” but a world government will not be successful or even happen unless population is reduced to a number that CAN be centrally governed.

So primarily this is about reducing the population in order to institute world government. As for the money, it doesn’t matter. The poor will still be poor, the middle class will still be attritioned, and the rich will still have the bulk of the wealth. But there will be billions of less “useless eaters” to manage, and the world population will have been reduced to weaponless serf who will be unable to mount revolutionary efforts to regain human rights and dignity. All you countries that have turned in your guns, opting for a “less violent” society, take a long, strong look at whether or not you have a snowball’s chance in hell of breaking out from the yoke of government, should that government become abusive. Doesn’t your government already pretty much do what it wants since there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it?

The UN / left wing commentary always blames colonialism & capitalism as the cause of all the world’s problems and then pushes the big government socialist totalitarian solution. Ironcally, these rent seeking bureaucrats never consider why all the world’s “human rights” refugees leave their much touted totalitarian states and always seek refuge in a western democratic colonial capitalist society such as USA, Canada or Australia.

Serge, I’ve been given a little insight over the last year as to what it’s like to live in a part of deepest darkest Africa that was never “colonised”.

Descriptions of the mental state of people living in Africa who live without the perspective provided by “colonisation” are appalling.

Superstition is rife. Comprehension of ordinary events is limited to ascribing them to the interference of some vengeful spirit.

Despite our present situation in the West, we have come quite some distance in establishing self awareness by comparison with our “godless” neighbours.

I was in the nearest city a couple weeks ago, and I was staggered by the amount of use of the phone. As soon as people get to the corner of the street and are waiting for the green man to walk, at least 50% of them pull out their phones and start diddling with it.

You look around at an eatery and you’ll see 70% of people playing with their phones. It’s just ridiculous.

There are several issues that contribute to the blindness of alarmists.

      - The presumed ECS is the consequence of many errors, misrepresentations and outright lies
      - All of these errors were canonized as 'settled' science since AR1
      - CAGW alarmists don't accept falsification as part of the scientific method
      - Consensus climate science has become so convoluted that deference to authority is necessary
      - The authority (the IPCC) is fatally compromised by conflicts of interest
      - The gap between the two sides is so large, there can be no middle ground
      - Trump Derangement Syndrome

World Meteorological Organisation said this week that 2019 was on track to be among the world’s hottest years, and 2015-2019 would be the hottest five-year period on record. It said the European heatwave was “absolutely consistent” with extremes linked to the impact of greenhouse gas emissions. The Sun July 2019

To think for a moment … ponder the extreme fragility of the brittle Left with its veneer of climatism dogma.

Consider for a moment the unlikely. Were the MSM to suddenly awaken, return to an adherence to the Canons of Journalism, return to rigorously scrutinise with informed critical thinking those conniving politicians, the chanting educators and infantilised teachers, the legion of low wattage municipal bureaucrats, the UN IPCC, UNEP, ECOSOC, UN GMC and the whole fetid pus-Green corporatist globalist swamp of diktat, de-industrialisation, de-population, destitution and despair, then the entire teetering edifice, that Trojan horse of UN global “administration,” better known as the climatism scam would quite literally evaporate up its own derrière, in a matter of spectacular liberty, hope and prosperity expanding weeks.

Of that I have no doubt. Little wonder then that the daily manufactured diet of stridency, theatrical melodrama and desperation grows more extreme. Never miss an opportunity to poke the blob.

NO EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCE FOR THE SIGNIFICANT ANTHROPOGENIC CLIMATE CHANGE. J. KAUPPINEN AND P. MALMI. July 13, 2019.

The IPCC climate sensitivity is about one order of magnitude too high, because a strong negative feedback of the clouds is missing in climate models. If we pay attention to the fact that only a small part of the increased CO2 concentration is anthropogenic, we have to recognize that the anthropogenic climate change does not exist in practice. The major part of the extra CO2 is emitted from oceans [6], according to Henry`s law. The low clouds practically control the global average temperature. During the last hundred years the temperature is increased about 0.1°C because of CO2. The human contribution was about 0.01°C.

    It’s a lot but it’s worth repeating.

It’s the Message we need to grasp:

From my own limited perspective, the best period in Australian history for poor people was post world war 11 up till the late sixties. Such decency, such clarity in public life, such amazing progress.

Then we had the age of decline into self serving pity and ultimately into the nirvana of Pure Victimhood.

    We’re there.

    No escape! Enjoy.

Have to agree with you KK re the best period of Australian history, but a question arises as to why this was so. In my opinion it was because generally the population at large had very little in terms of material possessions. People were universally poor but many could see that with hard work their lives could be made better. Bear in mind the period you talk about (late ’40’s to late ’60’s ) there were very few cars, only the far flung farms had phones in their homes on the party line system and the telly was only there for half this time. People walked about town, talked with neighbours, shopped locally and everyone had been touched by the war. There was hope and vision for a better future. Then came telly and the car, people stayed home to watch the box or travelled further afield in the auto and the start of “possessions envy” . It’s just been a long down hill slide from there.

        Sambar…..
I’m not sure that it’s fair to assert that the majority of Australians 1900-1950 were “universally poor”. While they may have lacked the technology that these days even most of our “poor” take for granted, the majority of the “poor” had adequate food, clothing, shelter, basic medicine and access to education for their children.
Real poverty is when you cannot access the necessities, let alone the luxuries.

That said, I agree that technology has had something to do with the breakdown in community.

Your correct PW and Yarpos, I expressed myself a little poorly ( no pun intended ). What I did mean was poor in terms of material possessions. I think that culturally society was quite rich. Most people ( families ) that I new growing up were involved in many things that benefited community as a whole. Because cars were few and far between, and in the country public transport almost non existant, country towns flourished around sporting clubs, progress asociations, fire brigardes etc. Everyone was working from the same base, and it seemed, at least from my point of view as a child, that people did not covet “materialistic things” as much as today. In terms of the neccessities of life, everyone in my area lived like kings. Work was plentiful, food was plentiful and housing and clothing affordable by most. Some kids wents to school without shoes in the summer and many of us chose to go barefoot a lot of the time, it was just the way it was. With the arrival of the car and the telly came the notion that what you had was now “not enough” and you could / should upstage your neighbours by being the first to own a brand new something, and therefore make everyone else envious. And Yarpos, you are spot on. I am a ten pound pom. Best decision ever made by my parents was to “get away”. I have lived in Australia for over 72 years and am proudly Aussie through and through. Sadly political changes in the Hawke /Keating era have labelled me an alien in my own country. I didn’t need to be naturalised Australian, I was and am, and always will be an Aussie. I registered for national service to go to Vietnam, no one aked me if i was Austrailan, I regiistered to vote, as was my entitlement, I applied for an Australian passport in the 90’s and was told no way. On this point I’m a little bitter.

22 Jul: ABC: Adani protesters block entry to Abbot Point, French journalist and crew charged
By Melissa Maddison and Sofie Wainwright
A prominent French journalist and his film crew have been charged with trespass for being on the railway line at the entrance to Adani’s Abbot Point coal-loading facility in north Queensland.
Reporter Hugo Clement and his crew have been bailed to appear at the Bowen Magistrates Court in early September.
The police charge sheet shows strict bail conditions have been applied to Mr Clement, banning him from being within 20 kilometres of Adani’s Carmichael mine site or less than 100 metres from any other Adani site.
Mr Clement, who works for the French national broadcaster ***France2, was filming an anti-Adani protest when the group was put in handcuffs and arrested about 7:00am…

Mr Clement said they had been in Australia for almost a week, that they had been on the ***Great Barrier Reef diving and talking to scientists as part of a documentary series about the world’s oceans…
Mr Clement is well known in Europe for his work on climate change and the environment and has previously told stories on e-waste being dumped in Africa, marine debris, and the export of waste from France to South East Asia…
Mr Clement said not many people in France knew about the Carmichael mine…
“The mining, the coal mining, that global warming — it’s something we cannot hide today. We have to talk about it.”…

    by ***France 2/ James Vasina
It’s a direct consequence of climate change. The temperature and acidity of oceans is increasing and many ecosystems can’t keep up. Corals – a cornerstone of marine biodiversity – are especially impacted. Off the coast of north-eastern Australia, over half of the Great Barrier Reef has disappeared in the past three decades due to a phenomenon known as coral bleaching. Since 2016 the situation has been getting worse. Scientists may have a solution, but the clock is ticking.

UN Launches All-out War on Free Speech

So why is eliminating the UN not being discussed widely and seriously?

    160

    • #
      WXcycles

In other words, forget everything about the free exchange of ideas: the UN feels that its ‘values’ are being threatened and those who criticize those values must therefore be shut down.

Naturally, the UN assures everyone that, “Addressing hate speech does not mean limiting or prohibiting freedom of speech. It means keeping hate speech from escalating into something more dangerous, particularly incitement to discrimination, hostility and violence, which is prohibited under international law”.

Except the UN most definitely seeks to prohibit freedom of speech, especially the kind that challenges the UN’s agendas. This was evident with regard to the UN Global Compact on Migration, in which it was explicitly stated that public funding to “media outlets that systematically promote intolerance, xenophobia, racism and other forms of discrimination towards migrants” should be stopped.

In contrast to the UN Global Migration compact, the UN’s action plan against hate speech does contain a definition of what the UN considers to be “hate” and it happens to be the broadest and vaguest of definitions possible: “Any kind of communication in speech, writing or behaviour, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, colour, descent, gender or other identity factor”. With a definition as broad as this, all speech could be labelled “hate”.

The new action plan plays straight into the OIC’s decades-long attempts to ban criticism of Islam as ‘hate speech’. In the wake of the launch of Guterres’ action plan, Pakistan has already presented a six-point plan “to address the new manifestations of racism and faith-based hatred, especially Islamophobia” at the United Nations headquarters. The presentation was organized by Pakistan along with Turkey, the Holy See and the UN.

The one great thing about reports like this is that the unhinged desperation begins to show…causing them to come very close to threatening us with totalitarian action by them that’s worse than anything their CAGW would foreshadow….they’re losing it….eg the dark muttering that we may lose our human rights.

Of all the dire stuff they peddle to us that loss is probably the most likely to happen…not as a result of CAGW …but as a result of the Global Socialists’ desperation to use CAGW to control us and redistribute our wealth to failed Socialist states….as they’ve admitted.

Funny thing is Goldman Sachs seem to think they’re great CAGW warriors..they certainly do a lot of bragging about it.

The LW journalists of the world…and Australian journalists in particular are the ultimate villains in all of this and should take the blame when the reckoning comes.

The Australian journalists are more to blame than most because they must know Australia would suffer the greatest impact from their prescription…the only 1st world country that will be forced to try to survive without any baseload synchronised electricity…100% dependent on 100% weather-dependent electricity ..forever…while all Australia’s trade partners and competitors will have access to baseload nuclear..river hydro and interconnectors to neighboring countries ..forever.

CAGW cult scientists and the LW politicians have certainly betrayed the people of the world…but it’s journalists who ultimately have the responsibility and the awesome overarching power to either bring us the truth…or bury it.

We know they have the power to make or break the politicians …we know they can choose to destroy a politician for telling the truth…and we know it’s only they who could help realist scientists and politicians to get the truth out….IF it suited the journalists.

It’s all in the journalists’ hands.

On this issue..as with the US news on Trump…almost all of Australian journalists have chosen to routinely censor out facts that give the lie to CAGW …and facts re the criminality and betrayal of America in the real collusion between Democrats..FBI…CIA..Obama’s DoJ and LW US journalists… 2 fabricate a dossier intended for impeachment of Trump….collusion that began before he was even elected.

We get all the UN alarm propaganda and all of the anti-Trump stuff…with none of the other side….a rancid insult to Australians and censorship that would make the former Soviet leaders proud.

The journalists would stand condemned even if they thought CAGW was real…but IMO they don’t believe that…because if they did they’d report everything….on the soot melting polar ice..glaciers and permafrost..and agitate for action on it…they’d harass Europe et al on the use of palm oil, for which much of the deforestation occurs….they’d report on the anti-science nature of the ‘consensus’ and the fact that the science was ‘closed’ before the research was even done…because they’d want the science to be unimpeachable…they’d point out that cloud research hadn’t been done back then…and no research into the oscillations…and they’d campaign to get it done…they’d alert citizens to the fact that manufacture of their solar panels causes release of nitrogen trifluoride…an infinitely more potent GHG than CO2…and myriad other facts….and they’d want all the credentialled scientists to be heard…no closed shop and dangerous groupthink.

They’d fess up on all that…because if they actually thought CAGW was real and not natural…they would worry…if they were rational, that is…that dismissal of some of the facts might worsen what they believed was an unprecedented catastrophe….and they’d want the whole population to know and trust that their coverage was not censored because they’d be desperate for maximum cooperation.

Politicians too would want citizens to have all the information on this if they truly believed it rather than just covering their backsides…because they especially would want trust and maximum cooperation.

NY was built near sea level in a notorious (since 1600s) hurricane belt. No amount of solar panels across the Earth can change that. However, mentioning use of the rubble from the World Trade Centre construction to substantially narrow the mouth of the Hudson, thus making more real estate, might well embarrass certain bodies, whether public and private, some decades on.

Were I involved in the Battery Park extension I’d be grateful should someone change the subject to “climate change” after Sandy (which has had to be promoted from post-tropical to Cat 3 sorta or just “new normal”). If constantly changing the subject means enslaving and brutifying all major media…already done, guys!

And all the while the UN distracts us with nonsense NASA admit the do not know about the basics of water…

    From https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2019/07/22/noaa-on-water-vapor-2019-edition/

The feedback loop in which water is involved is critically important to projecting future climate change, but as yet is still fairly poorly measured and understood.

    and

As yet, though the basics of the hydrological cycle are fairly well understood, we have very little comprehension of the complexity of the feedback loops.

So all those Climate Models™ the UN-IPCC true believers, and government are convince by ARE NOT run on basic physics because as NASA says, water in all its forms is “poorly measured and understood” resulting in “very little comprehension of the complexity of the feedback loops.”

    ¯
Is it important? Well, those Climate Models™ are the linchpin for the UN to extract money and power from everyone in the world!
Only the reason for foolish governments to sheepishly follow the UN-IPCC’s dumb idea of decarbonization is the utter belief confidence level espoused by the UN-IPCC in the results from those Climate Models™.
The main reason that kids believe in some extinction event in their lifetimes is because of the UN-IPCC and the ‘projected scenarios’ (aka predictions) from Climate Models™.
The only reason XR idiots have any traction is the belief in those Climate Models™ predictions.

      Thanks tom0,
Well found. I still doubt that any claim that water vapour is a greenhouse gas is valid. And their “uncertainty” reinforces my scepticism. But I am convinced that water, in all its forms, plays a significant role in both weather and climate.
Does the phase change from liquid to vapour, cooling the air around it in the process, qualify it for the descriptor?
But I’m glad they’re starting to look at. I like water. And wish some would condense out above me, soon.

ABC discovers solar has a downside:

AUDIO: 3min34sec: 23 Jul: ABC AM: Solar booming in Australia, but with that comes toxic waste and valuable resources to landfill
    By Emilia Terzon
With more than 2 million Australian homes now having rooftop solar, industry proponents say the nation is on its way to a renewable future. But what if those same solar panels end up in landfill?
At the moment, there are no laws regulating the solar industry’s waste and experts predict there could be a whopping 1,500 kilotonnes of it being generated by 2050. Now the Federal Government is looking at whether it needs to regulate the industry.
    Featured:
    Jeremy Hunt, solar panel installer
    Professor Rodney Stewart, Griffith University
    Clive Fleming, solar panel recycler
    Andrew Gilhooly, Sunpower
    TRANSCRIPT:
The Federal Government is now examining if it needs to regulate the industry, as Emilia Terzon reports…
EMILIA TERZON: Only one company in Australia recycles solar panels. Reclaim PV in Adelaide currently takes 50,000 a year, but it won’t accept panels with toxic materials…

EMILIA TERZON: Major manufacturer Sun Power says it covers recycling costs for any panel that fails under warranty, but it’s Australian manager, Andrew Gilhooly, says in the future when warranties expire, some of the bill will likely go to the consumer.
ANDREW GILHOOLY: Any costs incurred in truck rolling or getting up on the roof and shipping and so forth is to be covered by a third party, probably either the end user, yeah, probably the end user…

Who does the National Roads & Motorists Associate represent, 99 per cent of ICEV member owners or the EV industry?

Has the NRMA considered the tens of billions of dollars it would cost Australians to changeover from the existing liquid fossil fuels distribution network to electric recharging stations, and preparing the electricity grid for EV demand when at the present time the grid is in trouble with businesses being paid with taxpayer’s monies not to operate during peak demand periods?

And any consideration given for the cost to NRMA members and others as their ICEVs are devalued and almost worthless as a trade in to replace them with expensive smaller vehicles and even more expensive larger vehicle EVs.

      60

      • #
        PeterW

Mandatory EV sales would cause a lot of people to keep their older ICE vehicles longer, while pushing others back into the second-hand market.

        The results?
        1. More older vehicles staying on the road means more exhaust, not less.
        2. More older vehicles staying on the road means more deaths through accidents involving worn components and lower safety standards.
        3. Delayed replacement of ICE vehicles PLUS more people in the market for second-hand ICE vehicles will drive up prices…. meaning that -as usual – the relatively poor are at a greater disadvantage.

It seems to me that all this “climate catastrophe” stuff from the UN and other willing bodies and politicians is no more than gaslighting.

We are being told repeatedly that what we know, what history has previously told us (before records are re-written and adjusted/homogenised etc), what genuine science tells us is not true; that we are in fact wrong despite our own lived experiences.

    all over the MSM today:

23 Jul: Guardian: Q&A: Alastair Campbell compares Donald Trump to Hitler
Tony Blair’s former campaign director likens US president’s administration to Third Reich and warns ‘seeds of fascism are being sown’
    by Michael McGowan
Alastair Campbell has ***again compared Donald Trump to Hitler, likening the race-fuelled attacks by the US president against four US congresswomen to those made during Nazi Germany.
The chief spin doctor to former British prime minister Tony Blair did not hold back on Monday night’s Q&A program on the ABC, taking on Trump and Boris Johnson…
On Trump, Campbell was asked about comments made during a GQ interview earlier in the Trump presidency comparing his administration to Nazi Germany. Saying he was reading The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich, the 1960 history by American journalist William Shirer, Campbell said that “on every page you feel the resonance”…
Of Johnson, likely to be the next UK prime minister, Campbell said: “Inside his head, he is Winston Churchill. In reality, he’s a hack.”
Campbell is in Australia to speak at events hosted by Orygen and the University of New South Wales Centre for Ideas on the politics of mental health. He has spoken publicly about his own breakdown in the 1980s…

23 Jul: news.com.au: Tony Blair’s former press secretary says ‘seeds of fascism’ are being sown in current political climate
A guest on Q&A has been criticised for comparing Donald Trump to Hitler, with a panellist slamming him for the “over the top” comment.
    by Candace Sutton
On Q&A, (Alastair) Campbell said that the majority of people in most countries “with possibly the exception of Russia” found Mr Trump “pretty much despicable”.
“Trump talks about fake news. He’s the biggest creator of fake news on the planet,” Mr Campbell said. “Donald Trump, according to the Washington Post, tells an average of 12 lies a day.”
He said he thought the US leader was “racist” and slammed the rise of populism as a “virus”.
“That’s what populism is doing. There’s a populist virus in the world at the moment. “Somehow these populist leaders — Trump, [British politicians] Johnson, Farage — they’re liars…

    reminder:

2004: Guardian: Press Association: Campbell called ‘scumbag’ by heckler
Alastair Campbell was branded a “lying scumbag” as he told of his time as Tony Blair’s spin chief during his one-man show.
Mr Campbell brushed aside a solitary female heckler last night as he told an audience at the Royal Festival Hall in London of his time at the heart of New Labour. The middle-aged woman left the hall shortly after yelling the insult.
In a lighthearted response to the incident, Mr Campbell said he would go home and write, “Went to the Festival Hall, got called a liar – again”…

on ABC Q&A, Campbell was answering a question from Kent Getsinger in Adelaide (at 1min03 into the video):

VIDEO: 1hr4min: 22 Jul: ABC Q&A: Boris, Brexit, and the Black Dog
Panellists includ: Alastair Campbell (former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s spokesman, press secretary and director of communications and strategy…Alastair has been a vocal participant in Britain’s Brexit debate, arguing that the country should remain in the European Union and pressing for a second referendum on the issue)
Here are the questions our panel faced this week:
      TRUMP XENOPHOBIA
Kent Getsinger asked via Skype: Vincent Navarro has written that xenophobia and racism are “symptoms” of populist movements and that the cause of populism is the “enormous deterioration of …the working classes living conditions”. So why do political leaders and pundits distract us by focusing on the symptoms which divide us? The most recent example was last week when President Trump made racist slurs against 4 progressive congress women saying that they were “incapable of loving their country”…

no surprise to find the same Getsinger on ABCFran’s Breakfast. (arguably, if the Mueller investigation had been shut down the minute Mueller knew there had been no Trump/Russia collusion, the Dems would not have won back the House):

This current administration continues politics of division and attacks everything that we stand for. We have known this far too well over the past 2 years being inundated into disbelief at the multitude of depths that they will plunge…

(PDF) Kent Getsinger for Vice-Chair – Our Revolution Abroad
I’m proud to announce my candidacy for Vice Chair of Democrats Abroad Australia…
Last year, I volunteered for the Bernie Sanders campaign from my garage – getting up nearly every morning at 4am to make calls before work – some days I would take annual leave so that I could phonebank all day. I have never been so inspired by such a transformative public servant. This daily activism has carried through to the efforts of volunteering for Our Revolution and We the People Collective in which I am now still actively involved.
I have been a resident of Australia for 6 years now and live in Adelaide, SA after having lived the bulk of that time in Melbourne, VIC. For the past 5 years, I continue to be a leader Delegate and Branch Committee Member of the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) where I have actively pushed for improvements for working conditions, protection for the most vulnerable people and nationwide solidarity with preserving the working protections, universal medical coverage, public services and other benefits we Australians enjoy that we Americans do not.

This experience as an Australian strengthens my belief in core American values – and values that I feel embody the Democratic Party. Having seen the rise of Trump (and its affiliated, frightening far-right counterparts the world over), I cannot sit by and not use my organising potential to serve the country and party I call home.

We will defeat Trump and the Republican by empowering individuals, by creating a power structure that comes in the truest democratic form…
I hope to have your vote at the AGM in mid-March.

Guardian pretends they believe this stuff:

21 Jul: Guardian: Ex-Unilever boss seeks ‘heroic CEOs’ to tackle climate change and inequality
    by Sarah Butler
Paul Polman, who stepped down from the Anglo-Dutch owner of Marmite and Dove in November last year after a decade at the helm, warns that the rise of populism and Brexit are symptoms of capitalism’s failure to adapt. Bosses, he insists, must commit to fighting inequality and tackling the climate emergency…

“The fact we are having these issues of populism and schisms in society is exactly because we are not addressing the underlying issue to evolve capitalism and make sure it works for everybody,” he said…
With only 100 companies responsible for 71% of carbon emissions , persuading a handful of these bosses to see the economic and moral benefit of changing their ways can create a race to the top, according to Polman.

The boss who has publicly backed the young people behind Extinction Rebellion and is a fan of the teenage activist Greta Thunberg, said businesses that do not embrace issues of diversity, sustainability and equal rights will also struggle to attract talented young workers.
“Millennials want to work for companies that stand for more than just making money”…

21 Jul: NationalScotland: Public sector accused of paying ‘lip service’ to climate emergency
    By The Ferret
This article is brought to you by The Ferret.
THE public sector in Scotland is being urged to step up its efforts to tackle the climate emergency, after a survey by The Ferret revealed that most government bodies have done little or nothing in response.

We asked 30 public bodies covering environment, education, transport, economy finance and other services how they had reacted to the climate emergency declared by the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, in April. Eight said they were thinking about how to respond, 17 stressed that they were already working to meet government targets, and five didn’t say. “We will develop our thinking over the summer,” said the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, which represents 32 councils…

Campaigners have criticised the public sector for only paying “lip service” to the climate emergency by continuing with “business as usual”. They have called for Scottish ministers to show more leadership…

    lengthy, a MUST-READ:

22 Jul: Press&JournalUK: ‘Turbines ring of steel destroying our community’: Campaigners’ anger as government backs wind farm expansion
    by Susy Macaulay
Angry Caithness residents affected by the approval of a 21 turbine wind farm have vowed to fight on to protect their landscape and everything it means to them.
Reay Area Windfarm Opposition Group (Rawog) say the fight to stop their village being encircled by a ‘ring of steel’ has caused them untold stress over the past six years.
They say they are weary and disillusioned, but for the sake of their unique heritage, landscape and wildlife, they will fight on to stop more turbines coming their way.
The small north coast township already has the Baillie windfarm on its doorstep – boasting 21 turbines, each 360ft…

There are also the Forss 1 and 2 farms, adding an additional six 260ft towers, while each site has associated pylons and substations that extend their visual impact.
Soon Reay will look out on a further 21 turbines – stretching 450ft into the sky from ground to blade tip – less than a mile away on the Limekiln estate, despite hundreds of objections…

Resident naturalist and ornithologist Eric Maughan added: “These turbines are 20ft taller than the London Eye, which is a big structure but contained in a city with lots of other big structures.
“They’re going to put 21 London Eyes in this landscape.
“They’ll be in your face the whole time. You will be able to hear them whirring.
“It makes a mockery of the Scottish Government’s designation of this as wild land.”…

A Scottish Government spokeswoman, meanwhile, reiterated its support of Scotland’s growing wind energy industry.
She said: “With public backing for wind energy at a record high across Scotland and amid a global climate emergency that requires decarbonisation of our economy, we strongly support the development of renewables, while providing appropriate protections for our landscapes, natural heritage and local communities…

Mrs Herrick, who is approaching 80, says wind farms are ruining the county in countless ways, making huge money for mainly foreign multinationals – all at the expense of the public purse.
She said: “The more you learn about it, you more you realise how destructive and crazy it is…

22 Jul: SMH: ‘Bad science’: Australian studies found to be unreliable, compromised
    by Liam Mannix
Hundreds of scientific research papers published by Australian scientists have been found to be unreliable or compromised, fuelling calls for a national science watchdog.
For the first time, a team of science writers behind Retraction Watch has put together a database of compromised scientific research in Australia.

Over the past two decades, 247 scientific research papers – some associated with the country’s most reputable universities – have been found to be compromised.
The database reveals the scale of scientific misconduct in Australia, although senior scientists claim it is just the tip of the iceberg…

***In May this year, research on wind turbines by scientists at the University of Tasmania was retracted from the Energy Science and Engineering journal due to issues with the peer review process – the independent scientific assessment of the study’s accuracy.
“The retraction has been agreed … due to evidence indicating the peer review of the paper was compromised,” the journal said…

After being contacted by The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald about scientific research papers which had been retracted, the University of New England and Griffith University both launched investigations.
The University of Tasmania said it “does not disclose details of matters concerning individual students or staff members”…

This article about the UN Report links to one about thawing Arctic permafrost….giving the impression it’s just another dire impact of CO2.

Reporters routinely film their alarmist docos in Greenland and the Arctic discussing with locals the perils and dire threat from CO2…with a background of black ice as far as the eye can see…the ice blanketed in black carbon ie soot…[nothing to do with CO2 ]…and the other organisms and particulates it carries with it.

No mention is made of what lies behind…not a word even about the fact that the ice is supposed to be snowy white and highly reflective…and in that optimal state to have a vitally important role in moderating the sun’s radiation impacting the earth.

    Facts from Wikipedia..

‘Black carbon is a bigger cause of the melting of the polar ice cap in the Arctic than carbon dioxide due to its effect on the albedo.

If Earth were frozen entirely (snowball earth),and hence was hugely more reflective…the average temperature of the planet would drop below −40 °C

On the other hand….’ if the entire Earth was covered by water — a so-called ocean planet — the average temperature on the planet would rise to almost 27 °C’

Oceans are 70% of earth system…so with the oceans’ low albedo and therefore warming effect…surely this means the cooling effect of the high-albedo the polar areas are meant to have… must be vital to keeping the earth from warming…

So with Arctic/Antarctic albedo very much reduced by a black blanket of soot, THAT must surely be a top priority for mitigation against GW…and yet it’s not addressed even though it’s said to be much more easily mitigated than CO2….even though its huge importance was the subject of scientific testimony to Congress in 2010.

    Eg some of those testifying…

Washington, DC, July 29, 2010 – Reducing emissions of black carbon, the dark component of soot, could be the best – and perhaps only – way to save the Arctic from warmer temperatures that are melting its snow and ice, according to a study published today in the Journal of Geophysical Research.
Dr. Mark Jacobson of Stanford University studied the short-term effects of reducing black carbon and other greenhouse gases, including CO2 and methane, over a 15-year period of time, with black carbon reductions appearing to be the fastest way to avoid further Arctic ice loss and warming.

“The Arctic is a critical defense shield for the Earth’s climate system. Its vast expanse of ice and snow is reflecting significant incoming heat back into space.
We cannot afford to lose the Arctic,” said Durwood Zaelke, President of the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development. “Targeting black carbon with aggressive, fast action today is the most important strategy for saving the Arctic.”

“We have the technology to solve this problem, and now we need to make it a priority,” said Zaelke.

    Scientist Drew Shindell…

.” Increasing levels of black carbon combined with decreasing levels of sulfates may account for more than half of the accelerated warming in the last few decades, Shindell’s research suggests.

Instead of action on black carbon…the focus and alarm re CO2 was stepped up and the burning of rainforests in Indonesia …burning of other biomass in Asia and Africa continue…as well as burning rainforests to plant soy crops in the Amazon continues.

Modern coal plants that we have in Australia and other 1st world countries don’t produce soot [black carbon]…but very old diesel vehicles do.

IMO the reason for the failure of these scientists themselves and the whole RE cult to mitigate the black carbon problem is because the results would show the world that CO2 is not a problem…the leverage for global wealth redistribution would be gone…and governments and institutions would be accountable for the massive waste of money.
