The Greens National Anthem

(Music: P. McCormick. Lyrics: R. Di Natale)

The Greens, Australia.

I’ll save the whale,

I’ll save the trees,

My plastic bag will save the seas;

I’ll save the carbon from the air,

And save the cuddly polar bear –

Which, by the way, will save the reef;

(And it will work, I swear!)

But may involve a little grief –

The cupboard, will, be bare;

If I become the climate chief,

Australia, needs, a prayer.

And since we’re children of the stars,

I pledge to save all life on Mars.

In doing this, I’ll prove my worth,

And make some “useful” friends on earth,

Who make it plain, they’re sooo humane,

And ‘cos they know I “care”

I’ll ride upon the gravy train;

Australia pays the fare.

I’ll ride upon the gravy train;

Australia, pays, the fare.

(I need, a new, au pair…)

The Labor Party National Anthem

(Music: P. McCormick. Lyrics: W. Shorten)

ALP LogoAustralians all, please just forget

We’re floating in a sea of debt;

In spite of what it may appear,

It wasn’t us who got us here.

So, if we’re clumsy with your cash,

It’s ‘cos we love to share;

Watch franking credits cop a slash,

It’s something, you can, spare.

You want an economic crash?

We’ll drive, Australia, there.

We’re union born and union bred,

We’re strong in arm and weak in head,

And if you think that’s thuggery –

Then you can go to buggery.

A campaign “loan” means we condone

With mercy rich and rare;

Of course it’s not skulduggery –

We think, it’s only, fair.

And did I mention buggery?

We’ll tell you, what is, fair.

The UAP National Anthem

(Music: P. McCormick. Lyrics: C. Palmer)

Australians all, I think you see,

You really need a bloke like me.

A bloke who’s smart, and really wise,

And never, never telling lies.

Who truly fights for worker’s rights –

Of shysters be aware!

These, and others, are just shites,

But I’m, a, billionaire!

These and others are just shites,

But I’m, a, billionaire!

I’m good as good as good can be –

And jam-packed with integrity;

If sometimes people do complain,

I’m sure my nephew will explain;

He’s just ducked out, he will return,

He’s somewhere over there…

He will be back, there’s no concern,

He will come back, I swear,

He will be back, there’s no concern,

When I, advance, his fare…

The “Independent’s” National Anthem

(Music: P. McCormick.  Lyrics: Getup)

GetUPAustralians all, please heed our voice

We’re here to give you, Hobson’s choice,

Our policies, we swear on oath,

Are red or green, but mostly, both,

So if, perchance, you did elect

Us – by whatever means,

Whatever wishes you direct,

Is not, a hill, of beans,

Your wishes, we will not respect,

We’ll sell, you to, the Greens.

We look so very good you see –

Just watch us on our ABC;

Whose audience, we know for sure,

Is fed on steaming, green, manure.

And, in keeping with this trend,

Their questions will be “fair”;

It’s nice to have a public friend,

Who gives us lots of air…

Just give the truth a little bend,

The Charter’s, their, affair…

    All great work. Well done!

As for plastic bags, I was intrigued to read that 90% of the oceans plastic bags come from just 10 rivers, none of them in the Southern Hemisphere. Like everthing else, we are forced to suffer when the problem is somewhere else. Virtue signalling at our own great expense and at least great inconvenience. Like CO2, CF4, almost all the output is from the area above Australia and our contribution would not be a billionth of 1%, if that.

I live by the beach in Melbourne, a city of 5 million with only one bay beach. I have not seen a plastic bag in the ocean. Maybe one, but I can’t remember when. I sailed on the Bay for a decade. Again, no plastic. The occasional bottle top or drink bottle maybe, perhaps thrown or dropped overboard. Sunglasses. The occasional sailing cap on the beach.

We now have traps on the one river and the many creeks and drains and while these can catch plastic at times, particularly after good rain, it is trivial given the size of the city and the traps are extremely effective.
I have not seen these problems in Adelaide, Perth or Sydney but a single plastic bag is nothing compared to the 5.5 million million pieces of plastic in the oceans in the Northern Hemisphere.

    Eight of them are in Asia: the Yangtze; Indus; Yellow; Hai He; Ganges; Pearl; Amur; Mekong;
and two in Africa – the Nile and the Niger. I don’t think the Yarra, the Georges or Paramatta, the Swan or the Torrens contributed much to 269,000 tons of plastic in the world’s oceans.
Still, we need to punish ourselves. That’s the Green way. Whinge, wail and punish everyone. A real misery cult full of posturing posers.

Consider the Green Hollywood elites living in palaces behind high walls while insisting other Americans do not need walls to protect them from violence or home invasion. George Clooney who lectures deplorables on Climate Change science lives on Lake Maggiore and fears Climate Change. Overpaid hypocrites all.

Lets hope they crash this election. Australians are sick of being told what to think, especially by people who do not think for themselves.

And of course, all of those rivers originate from countries that are on the receiving side of UNFCCC ‘reparations’ and as a consequence, have no incentive to address the problem, in fact, the only incentive is to allow it to get worse. It’s unfortunate that the legitimate need to address actual pollution has been deprecated by the UNFCCC’s illegitimate requirement to limit CO2 emissions.

Things getting nasty in Abbotts seat? The Left going to get done….

        https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-05-18/alleged-stabbing-with-corkscrew-in-warringah-electorate/11126070

“A man has been charged after a Liberal Party volunteer was stabbed with a corkscrew in former prime minister Tony Abbott’s seat of Warringah on Friday night.

“A number of volunteers were putting up campaign posters outside Balgowlah Heights Public School about 8:00pm when a man began yelling abuse at them, police said.

“He allegedly threatened an 18-year-old man before he thrust a corkscrew at the stomach of a 31-year-old man causing a minor injury,” NSW police said in a statement.

“He then started ripping down the banners that had been erected, before fleeing the scene.”

“The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not taken to hospital.

“Footage uploaded to social media showed a man tearing a Liberal Party banner off a fence before calling a political volunteer a “paedophile supporter”.

“A person filming the confrontation asked the man: “What are you doing that for sir?”

“It’s my democratic right,” he replied.

“A photo taken after the incident showed the quiet north-Sydney street lined with police vehicles and officers.

Sorry about the green tick. I meant a red thumb, as you usually do.
So again with the insults. Someone else’s opinion is ‘childish’. That is a very childish response.

Australia is not in the slightest responsible for the huge mass of plastic in the ocean,
so why should we punish ourselves is not childish. It is adult logic. If you cannot understand that, it would be consistent.

The whole purpose of this Australian guilt trip over plastic bags was to redistribute the costs of those bags.
Previously free they later served as bin liners.
Cost met by Woolworths and Coles.

          Post virtue signalling, both large chains, thanks to hired activists, now have an extra line of income in ;

          Bin Liners.

I’ll bet within 5 years 90% + on shopping will be automatically going straight in 15 cent ‘dual use’ (take them home and use them for bin liners) plastic bags. Which also will become lighter and lighter, until we’re back to the same bags as before. I reckon it’s aready past 10% at my local shops.

don’t do red or green thumbs. And to say that we are not responsible for the plastic in the oceans? We import goods assembled in China, and those goods would have a plastic waste component, that is point one. Point two, are you saying that no plastic waste enters the oceans from our shores? We are just as culpable as anyone else on the planet.

        Your paraphrase is inaccurate.
“Changing my behaviour will not change the outcome because I’m not the one doing it.”

If you can make some effective change in the behaviour of China, India or the Philippines, we’ve little objection. Claiming that changing the outcome in Australia would make any significant difference is wrong, and as always leaves us wondering whether you are dishonest, deluded or deceived.

Tell us, why apply effort to not solving a problem?

        20

        • #
          Leo Morgan

I suspect a huge amount of the garbage in the north Pacific was due to the Japanese tsunami, 2011, that took HUGE amounts of debris, houses, complete suburbs out to see. Must have had a very large impact. Probably not taken into account. the deep sea diver who just went to the bottom of the Challenger Deep (-35000′) saw a plastic bag down there. Of course it was played up.

I think you’ll find most of it is coming from the ‘recycled’ plastics trade. They buy first world garbage pull the good stuff out then dump the rest. So some of it is most likely Australian shopping/bin liner bags.

And I have to comment that in the election campaign and the press generally, I have not heard the phrase Global Warming for a long time. Tim Flannery and his Climate Council are remarkably silent. The other big names have resorted to abuse, not logic.

I am sure that the people who coordinate the scam have issued policies that

Global Warming is not to be mentioned. It is not the issue any more.

It is a war on Climate Change
The cost of this war is irrelevant. As much as WW2, but that’s the price we have to pay
Anyone who questions where the money goes is evil, uncaring, a charlatan, a criminal
The solutions to Climate Change are not to be discussed.
The time for debate is over.
You had your chance. Save the planet now.

In fact I take hope from all this. They have simply given up on Global Warming. Possibly NASA/IPCC has warned them that Global Cooling is now unstoppable. There is only so much you can do with cooling old data. The satellites are the problem.

So the play now is that the Climate Change religion is established and it is not to be questioned, debated, discussed. Real Climate Scientology.

If you do, you are the problem and will be abused and belittled by George Clooney, Bill Nye or Bill Shorten.

As said, that gives me hope. These are not people anyone respects. If Rudd and Gillard were disposable string puppets, the question is whether the puppet master gets the job tomorrow.

      UN “climate change
… as we have often discussed here, began life after 1998, when global warming failed to oblige with the onset of the “pause.” The eco-Marxist UN ideologues, realising the error of hoisting their petard to a falsifiable term segued to climate change, which has been variably defined by a number of agencies, the UNFCCC seemingly being the most restricted, confines itself to atmospheric composition.

UN climate change™ is an unfalsifiable definition. As you know, the ‘changes’ arise from direct and indirect anthropogenic influences on atmospheric composition and land usage.

So long as a human being lives, walks breathes and pharts on Earth, climate change™ exists by definition. Herds of cattle too, the result of anthropogenic activity must be expunged or at the very least, stopped from pharting. Insects do not enjoy the same association, so if the eco-Marxists at the UN have their way, they’ll be the next culinary staple. Bad luck insects. The current crop of Left leaning globalist Australian and NZ politicians resemble insects but emit too much sinister hot air to be mistaken as such. Either way, they are in urgent need of removal.

Therein lies the obvious ideological red flag, the endless justification to impose corporatist globalist socialism from an unelected, unelectable central global administration that will intervene, meddle, regulate, de-populate, de-industrialise, and impoverish, directing submissive governments at will. That is also why the Trojan horse of climatism lies firmly at the heart of a majority of current socialist endeavours. It furnishes them with noble cause the thinly conceals their evil intent.

UN climate variability is the natural order of stochastic climate chaos associated with ‘natural causes’.
It accounts for 99% of observable climate but is strangely /sarc never discussed.

If you do, you are the problem and will be abused and belittled by George Clooney, Bill Nye or Bill Shorten.

What to do about people who consistently use foul, offensive and insulting language in your house?

I tell them they have breached the house rules of civil behaviour and invite them to leave immediately. As for Shorten, his foul mouth lost him the right to express an opinion in my house years ago and now the same policy applies to old Georgie boy; attempts at insult and abuse are impotent when the intended target is not listening.

The likes of Shorten and Clooney need an audience to be of any significance in the world and that provides them their livelihood; we on the other hand, have no compelling need for them whatsoever. I thought George Clooney was pretty good in the film O Brother Where Art Thou but I won’t be watching it again, nor will I be making myself an audience to any other production Georgie boy is a party to.

Like any other foul mouthed person who tries to pollute the atmosphere of my home with abuse he will (metaphorically speaking) be ushered out the door to join in with the chorus of hyenas yapping at the moon.

The on-off button and the mute button are wonderful things; use them to their full potential.

    Thanks for the “Anthems”.

Nothing in the world that is evil or just misguided should escape ridicule, at least as a starting point.

There are many examples world wide of human misery that have been created under the banner of liberation and freedom from oppression.

World and regional wars: wars of colonisation; wars of de-colonisation and so on, until I believe that most thinking people are in a state of disbelief that Humanity can be, collectively, so stupid in its bid to make a better world.

I think that we have been taken from within by the M’s.

Macron, May, and our own MalEx444.

Our country shouldn’t tut tut about failed freedom exercises in places like South Africa and Rhodesia when in recent years our own country has shown that it is nearing peak decay via youth focus.

Currently our “youth” view the Rave party as Peak Civilisation and have the capacity to overlook the sacrifices being made at each one as being part of the religion.

    Are we a thinking species?

Hardly. Best wishes for the election.

Been sitting here working on our voting for today. Will be voting for the disruptors. ON first in the reps with the majors last, Greens at the bottom.

In the Senate? Malcolm Roberts, of course. Followed by the other disruptors and the majors won’t get a look in. Might take my pet piece of shiny coal with me, just to stir up the Greens. Hehehehehe.

One could argue that it is cruel to tease the mentally ill, but the Greens bring it on themselves with their special blend of sanctimony and ignorance.

I fear it won’t be long before being in possession of a few grams of coking coal will get you into some trouble, even if it is just for personal use.

Does anyone have an idea about the Senate? Being the election following a double dissolution there should be a disproportionate number of fringe candidates needing reelection, this should strengthen the two major parties. But will the cross-bench be a thorn in the side of a labor gov? It could be more conservative than the ones Rudd/Gillard had.

Anything the Left touches turns into a mess…..

Look at Glorious Leader Dangerous Dan…..Victoria now deliberately close to the edge in terms of power so that rationing “makes sense”…..( in a twisted, Leftist sort of way )

I think of what has happened with the white farmers in South Africa and think the same could happen here, but in the power realm….if you wanted to cripple a country, you’d cripple its power infrastructure.

      60

Nothing new here. I remember reading about rationed electricity many years ago.

Love it….drowning in Leftist caveats and nonsense…..

Note the middle key point below – like it or not, ya gunna pay for the “privelege” of having greenist BS forced upon you…..

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-05-17/canberra-to-run-on-100-per-cent-renewables-from-october-1/11121676?WT.ac=statenews_act

“Canberra will be effectively powered by renewable energy from October 1 — the first Australian jurisdiction to do so, according to the ACT’s Climate Change Minister.

    “Key points:
“* The ACT sources most of its renewable energy from reverse auctions
    * Canberrans pay $5 a week on top of their average power bill to fund the scheme
“* The ACT Government had pledged to reach the target by 2020

“October marks the date when the third stage of South Australia’s Hornsdale wind farm comes online, from which the ACT has purchased the last trickle of renewable energy it needs to claim 100 per cent renewable power.

“It fulfils a decade-long promise by the ACT Government to reach the milestone by 2020.

“We will be effectively there from October 1,” Climate Change Minister Shane Rattenbury said.

    ‘Effectively’ 100 per cent renewable
The ACT will be “effectively” powered by 100 per cent renewables after October because the territory will still be part of the national electricity grid — mostly powered by fossil fuels.

      “Canberra declares a climate emergency

“Yesterday, Mr Rattenbury also pushed the Government to declare a climate emergency, making the ACT the first Australian state or territory to follow Britain’s declaration last week.

“He described that declaration as a “decision-making filter” over all the Government’s actions, to ensure mitigating climate change took precedence.

“Mr Rattenbury, himself a former Greenpeace activist, said protests should be done with conviction, but with respect to others.

I don’t have much interest in politics but I’ve seen enough snobs, cynics and plutocrats on the left to cure me of Labor and the Greens forever. As for the our Labor champions’ “mentors”, characters like Abeles and Suharto…best say no more.

Rather than looking right I look back to the flawed pragmatism of Menzies and Lyons, who even squeaked up a little for peace while it was possible to do so. Not my heroes, just people I might vote for.

Now it’s come down to a single issue for me: domestic coal power. Couldn’t care less if the coal revival is supported by the Market, as I don’t care about Adam Smith, Ayn Rand, neo-liberals or libertarians. The Market has become another club for the globos and Posh Left to clobber the middle class so they can continue the hollowing out of Australian enterprise and industry. The Market is just one more thing to be rigged. Did you know “Market” is the first word learned in infancy by G-Uppers, before “mummy”. (Okay, made that bit up. But even some commies can keep the lights on, so why not us?)

The best chance seems to be a senate bloc of skeps and conservatives to hold back the worst of the green tide. Bernardi does not strike me as staunch, but he’ll have to do. He gets my upper house vote, which may be the one which really counts.

GetUp say they are non-partisan, and get their Useful Idiots to parrot the terms like “independent movement”, “grass roots”, and “volunteer boots on the ground” as if saying it enough times will make it true.

They also claim to have “more than a million members” because they count anyone who has ever provided them with an email address (and nothing more) as a “member”. They spent 5.7 million dollars on elmployee benefits last tax year, more than half of their total revenue – so they cant even spend their money on actual causes the push…

Only a fool would think they are anything but a very well funded extension of the Labor Party.

I have no problems with activist groups nailing their colours to the mast, and spending donations any way they see fit, whatever their political alliances or allegiances, but this duplicity and cowardice from GetUp is in very bad taste.

I would ask Anthony Green, but I think he is busy.

Does anyone know the reason why the AEC/MSM say that the number of early votes causes delays in vote counting. You would think that having the votes early would mean they can be stored at or near counting centres and they would have a flying start at it.

I am guessing there is some arcane 19th century rule about how these votes are handled that creates a delay.

Pre poll votes are treated as if they were postal votes.
And there is a time limit for them to arrive at the Electorate Office of eahc HoR Electorate..
Usually about 10 days after the actual poll. ( ? )
This ensures that all votes from overseas and interstate get counted.

        yarpos

        Thanks

You would think common sense would apply. They clearly arent postal votes, they are sitting in front of you, staring you in the face. Why they arent treated like standard votes especially now there are 5 million of them beggars belief.

I expect however they will see the fact that people vote eraly as the problem and try and fix that , instead of adjusting how they are handled and when they are counted. I expect snark (but probably not much more being Oz) if they mess with this.

theirABC is still running full-on campaign for Labor/Greens.

electric vehicle promotion with Beyhad Jafari, begins 2hr5min55sec to 2hr54min10sec (preceded by Gary Numan’s “Cars”).
when caller asks what happens during traffic jams, when highway is blocked for hours in 35C heat, and the EV batteries are dead.
Jafari ignores the basic question and repeatedly claims EVs with A/C on can last 19 to 20 days. at very end Jafari claims when foot is not on the accelerator, the battery is charging up.
some good questions, few convincing answers, tho I’m totally ignorant about cars in general.

17 May: Guardian: Revealed: air pollution may be damaging ‘every organ in the body’
Exclusive: Comprehensive analysis finds harm from head to toe, including dementia, heart and lung disease, fertility problems and reduced intelligence
    by Damian Carrington
Air pollution may be damaging every organ and virtually every cell in the human body, according to a comprehensive new global review (LINK)…
“Air pollution can harm acutely, as well as chronically, potentially affecting every organ in the body,” conclude the scientists from the Forum of International Respiratory Societies in the two review papers, published in the journal Chest (LINK)…

Prof Dean Schraufnagel, at the University of Illinois at Chicago and who led the reviews, said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if almost every organ was affected. If something is missing [from the review] it is probably because there was no research yet.”…
“The best way to reduce exposure is to control it at its source,” said Schraufnagel. Most air pollution comes from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, heat homes and power transport…
“We have megacities where all the citizens are breathing toxic air,” she said…

On most EVs when the foot is lifted on the accelerator the car is braking so in regenerative mode. In fact the brake lights are required to indicate when the car is decelerating not when the brake pedal is depressed.

Did you not look at the video. When foot is off the accelerator the car is braking in regenerative mode – that means the battery gets charged until the vehicle comes to a stop. There is a presumption the car is moving. If moving, foot off the accelerator means battery charging.

The price crossover between ICE and EV is stated as early 2020s. If that happens I will be seriously considering an EV. The main driver stated for this is the dramatic reduction in battery prices, claiming 50% drop in the past 12 months alone.

Seven years ago, I paid AUD156 for a 100Ah lithium cell from a WA importer. A 100Ah lithium cell from the same importer now costs AUD160. So no decline there.

The commentators read the US and EU stories and directly relate them to reality in Australia. The linked chart highlights reality in Australia:
      https://www.macrotrends.net/assets/php/chart_iframe_comp.php?id=2551&url=australian-us-dollar-exchange-rate-historical-chart
Think how Electricity Bill will accelerate the value decline of the AUD.

Nothing is getting cheaper in AUD terms in the coming decade. EVs may reach parity with ICE vehicles but they will all be increasingly unaffordable for Australians.

Australia continues to increase its indebtedness to the rest of the world:
      https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/current-account
The nation’s international debt increases by more than AUD40bn each year. That means the AUD will continue its slide.

If I still lived in the city I would happily consider an EV if the price/functionality was comparable.

SA continues to knock out sensational reds, and Tassie already has a quite a nice wine industry happening. Our last holiday in Tassie was in the North West were we hadnt been so much. Turned out we were around the corner from 9th Island. Good times!

nothing to listen to, but you have to love Sparkes’ opinion on the corkscrew incident:

18 May: ABC AM: Manly voters split over Warringah contest
    By David Sparkes on AM
The seat has seen passionate protests against the incumbent for his position on climate change, and an attack on a Liberal volunteer with a corkscrew (SPARKES: “NO-ONE IS REPORTING THAT THIS IS A POLITICALLY-MOTIVATED ATTACK”)
    https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/am/manly-voters-split-over-warringah-contest/11126114

when theirABC needs another push for The Greens? interview one of their own:

18 May: ABC: Vegan options are everywhere nowadays as restaurants evolve to meat demand
ABC Radio Sydney By Mawunyo Gbogbo
Lindsay McDougall had to swear off meat when he joined the punk rock band Frenzal Rhomb in 1996.
“The singer was vegetarian and he said I wasn’t allowed in if I didn’t go vegetarian,” he said.
The current presenter of Drive at ABC Illawarra, McDougall said it showed him the ethical side of the lifestyle, and by 1998 he was a vegan — long before it was a thing…

As more and more people in Sydney adopt plant-based diets, restaurants have been forced to evolve to satisfy their customers’ appetites…
McDougall: “Every takeaway place now does some vegan food … every pub has a vegan menu now … every main street has a restaurant where you can be guaranteed to eat vegan food.”
He said there were even a bunch of late-night burger outlets that didn’t highlight the fact they were vegan.

***”You’ve got people drunkenly walking out of the pub or the cinema getting their burgers, having no idea that they’re not actually causing the unnecessary deaths of any animals while they’re having their drunken snack.
“I feel like businesses have seen the dollar in it.”…

According to Roy Morgan research, almost 2.5 million Australians have diets that are either entirely or almost all plant-based — that’s an increase of 11.2 per cent since 2014.
That’s despite Australia having one of the highest levels of meat consumption in the world…

I’ve heard or read that vegans don’t eat honey because honey is produced by bees, animals, and bees are slaves. However, bees also do another important job, they pollinate many of the fruits and vegetables we eat, so vegans shouldn’t eat any of the fruits and vegetables that are pollinated by bees. Probably doesn’t leave a lot for them to eat.

Our paddock supplies so much that is just there if you want to make the effort. We do eat dandy lions, loverly. Hi Jo and All,
Dunno whether anyone else noticed, (TonyfromOz would be the honorable exception), but perhaps out of deference to Bob Hawke’s passing, (or here insert any other fanciful reference of your choice), total wind farm output in Eastern Australia “died” through the afternoon yesterday to 247 MW, following a long decline through the morning.
I noticed to that all the flags set at half mast in our town in deference to Bob were not so much “flying” but “limp”.
A timely reminder perhaps of what Electricity Bill’s 50% renewables’ target would bring?
    Best regards to all.

In fact, in Victoria, for seven hours, (from Midday till 7PM) the total output from EVERY one of the 16 wind plants in the State was ZERO. In fact it was less than zero, because all wind plants for those seven hours were drawing power FROM the grid.

The average power delivery from wind power for the whole State across the full 24 hours was, umm, an hourly average of 26.72MW, and that’s from a Nameplate of 1972MW, so wind power Victoria operated on this day at a Capacity Factor of 1.35%. Most wind plants recorded zero output from midnight till 7PM, a full 19 hours at or very close to zero.

Full explanation in the text at the bottom of the daily data Post at the following link.

Australian Daily Electrical Power Generation Data – Thursday 16th May 2019

As I mention there, if wind power is the answer, then someone’s asking the wrong question.

I should think today would be similar. 1C early, up to 19C at lunchtime, sunny and windless…a beautiful Autumn day. After voting we sat out on our northish-facing verandah with a glass of something pleasant and our lunch snack.
The previous days stayed foggy and windless until lunchtime. Ideal for burning some prunings that couldn’t be touched earlier.
The only helpers at our voting station were from Libs and Indeps. The sausages at the sizzle stand had sold out. They didn’t know how many to cater for as there was so much early voting. I think early voting should be limited to those who are either genuinely away or ill.

as usual theirABC mocks Australia; loves “global catastrophe”:

16 May: ABC: UN secretary-general meets Pacific leaders to discuss ‘global catastrophe’ of climate change
By foreign affairs reporter Stephen Dziedzic
It would have been an uncomfortable spot. Yesterday Australian officials sat quietly in their chairs as Pacific leader after Pacific leader delivered stern warnings about the lethal threat that climate change poses to their nations…

Senior Australian officials at the meeting could do little else; sent in the place of Prime Minister Scott Morrison only days before the federal election, they were bound to observer status by the caretaker conventions.
As a result, Australia did not sign up to the final statement by Pacific leaders, which declared climate change a “global catastrophe” and called for “transformative action” to stop it…
But who was to blame for this “global catastrophe”?…

One Pacific official told the ABC the meeting’s call for radical action on climate change “really was aimed at the whole globe” but “for those in the room [it] was a message for one country”.
“Of course no-one said Australia. No-one needed to say Australia,” the official said. “What other country in the room could we be referring to?”
The outspoken Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Sailele, went much further, wading straight into Australia’s election campaign during the post-summit press conference…
It looked like the event would wrap up without controversy. But Mr Sailele reached unbidden for the microphone to volunteer his own answer.

“I think we should not worry too much about it,” he declared.
“The question will be answered by the [Australian] voters. Let us keep our fingers crossed!”

The message was unmistakable. Uneasy laughter rippled through the room. At least one Australian official was deeply unimpressed…

Sitting here this morning pondering the basic dilemma that if you vote for Australian politicians and you get more Australian politicians.

As this is such a reprehensible act against sanity, honesty, people and human civilization I find myself leaning towards invoking the precautionary-principle, plus not being complicit. The last thing I actually want are more projectile-vomit-inducing, lying, delusional Australian politicians, stealing everyone’s money and impairing and damaging the country further, without recourse.

The disease is not going to reform itself to save the patient. But the patient is required to elect a disease flavor which said disease claims will kill the patient more slowly and painlessly, plus will shower the patient a complementary bags of popcorn.

Cut and pasted from an email so formatting might be a mess.
Al Gore has done it again. Last time he and Palmer got together and the result was the transformation of the dormant Renewable Energy legislation into something that now robs everybody.
On the other hand, it could be counter-productive if enough voters are awake.

    ————————- quote ————————————–
Last Minute Interference by Al Gore and the ABC into the Australian Election
by Viv Forbes, Executive Director, the Saltbush Club, Australia.
The Saltbush Club today called for an enquiry into a last minute intervention by an American politician, Al Gore, into the Australian Election.

The Executive Director of the Saltbush Club, Viv Forbes, said that in such a tight election race, the intervention of someone with the international stature of Al Gore, assisted by the climate activist Australian Broadcasting Commission, could easily change the result of the election.
The Gore intervention was not subtle – he labelled the LNP government climate policy as ‘not credible’ and taking the country ‘in the wrong direction’.
Becoming even more partisan, Gore praised the opposition Labor plan ‘as an extremely significant act of leadership on the part of Australia.’
This carefully timed intervention in a closely fought Australian election by a prominent foreign politician is a blatant attempt to promote a damaging climate agenda already rejected in the USA.
This surely justifies an enquiry into foreign electoral interference and ABC complicity.

The only plastic recycling company in South Australia closed because of the cost of electricity, thanks to the Greens.

Hyprocrisy is the signature of Green states. Shutting down freeways, tunnels and bypasses and complaining about traffic. Getting rid of one use plastic bags and forcing people to buy heavy duty non disposable bags. Inviting uncontrolled migration and complaining about the inadequacy of health and social services to cope and the problems with law enforcement and the creation of ghettos. Wanting cheap, adequate and reliable power and finding it vanishes. Glorifying nature only to find it covered in windmills and transmission towers. It’s what happens when thoughtless wishful thinking becomes law.

    behind paywall:

17 May: UK Times: National Grid threatens to sue Labour
Labour will face legal challenges if it seeks to nationalise Britain’s power and gas networks at a knockdown price, National Grid has warned.
John Pettigrew, chief executive of the FTSE 100 utility group, said there were “a whole host of legal routes companies including National Grid, or their investors, could pursue against the government if they didn’t pay fair value”.
He claimed Labour’s proposals for a replacement system of national, regional and municipal energy agencies would return Britain to Yes, Minister levels of bureaucracy.
National Grid employs about 6,000 people in the UK…

National Grid also booked a £137 million impairment after writing off almost a decade of work on planning grid connections for Nugen’s proposed nuclear plant at Moorside in Cumbria, and Horizon’s projects at Wylfa on Anglesey and Oldbury in Gloucester. Work on all three has now been abandoned and National Grid said it had concluded there was “no realistic prospect of these schemes continuing in their present form”. National Grid spent years consulting on proposals before alighting on a £2.8 billion plan that involved burying the lines through a 14-mile stretch of the Lake District and a 13-mile tunnel under Morecambe Bay…

17 May: UK Times: Patrick Harvie: First minister Nicola Sturgeon ‘hypocrite’ for climate cuts
    by Marc Horne
Nicola Sturgeon has been accused of hypocrisy after cutting funding for new projects to fight global warming, despite having declared a “climate emergency”.
Patrick Harvie, the Scottish Green leader, said reduction of the Climate Challenge Fund was a “serious mistake” and called on the first minister to reverse the cuts. The fund was launched in 2008 to support projects that encourage people to fight climate change by actions such as reducing waste and using greener transport.

Mr Harvie cited research published on The Ferret website, which said that funding for new projects had been cut from £5 million in 2018-19 to just over £2 million in 2019-20. The number of new projects slipped from 65 to 22. In the latest financial year 43 projects were turned down due to lack of funds…

    Good Evening All.

As we watch the election broadcast tonight, I am crying – tears of joy and tears of sorrow.

For joy – that perhaps, just perhaps, the people of this nation have the wisdom to see through the deceit and cynicism of the Labor/Green/UAP consortium. It is hope for us all.

In Sorrow – that the people of Waringah have rejected a good, honest, hard-working member in favour of a few slogans and someone who could come 3rd in a skying race 30 something years ago. Tony Abbott only underlined how much has to offer to ALL Australians – we need more like him, if that is possible.

The fight for goodness against stupidity continues.

    Cheers

    Mike/Speedy

Great speeches by Barnaby Joyce and Tony Abbott.

Barnaby said, as he claimed victory in New England with a slight swing to him, “It’s very sad about Tony, but how stupid are GetUp and the Green-Left! They spent a million dollars in Warringah just to beat Tony, and they lost the election everywhere else!!”

And Tony gave a great speech accepting defeat, such a measure of the man himself – “After the Wentworth by-election I knew I’d have a great deal of trouble holding this seat, but I’d rather be a loser than a quitter!”

-and – “the Green-Left does well in wealthy seats like this one, but badly where the blue collar workers and farmers are, and that’s where it matters”

Australians aren’t stupid, the hip pocket nerve wins.

That is a contradiction in terms.

I am reminded of a monkey trap: They put a banana in a cage with a small hole that allows said monkey to put it’s hand in and grab the banana. But the hole is not big enough to allow to monkey to withdraw it’s clenched fist. It holds onto the banana and it’s fate is sealed.

Labor knows just how big to make that hole.

Thank you Australian people, well done!. You are not as screwed up and deluded as I feared you were.

Just been watching some classic ABC TV. Penny Wong banging on about climate change as they go down in flames. Right under her talking head is the ticker along the bottom of the acreen slwly turning undecided seats to LNP. Classic delusional stuff where right up until the death knell they are pounding away on points the electorate has rejected.

Not a surprise to me, I live in St Kilda where you cannot indicate in anyway that you would vote Liberal or you will be vilified and physically threatened. Yesterday I had lunch with a friend who lives in an inner Melbourne northern suburb and she was too scared to talk about politics because she worried that her children could be bullied and ever expelled from school if people discovered she was a liberal.
The polls were so wrong because the violent left scared people from admitting they would vote Liberal, but didn’t stop them.

Channel 7 prediction at 9:30pm is 76 seats to LNP. That is all they need for a majority. I am surprised but should have had greater faith in good sense prevailing.

The only sad aspect id Tony Abbot not getting back. His turquoise opponent is hard to take.

I expect there will be no claims tonight but so far it looks positive.

What does it mean? The boats will not start tomorrow. Death duties are off the table. Tens of billions in carbon credits too. Negative gearing will not be removed, keeping rentals low for everyone. Double taxation of shares will not start. (why do they call such greed ‘reform’)

We might get Liddell back from AGL who are desperate to close a power station for which they paid nothing. Julie Bishop will not be the US ambassador to play games in Washington and put us offside with Trump. We might get the budget back in balance and start to reduce taxation from its punitive level, stifling business and personal endeavour and if we can get rid of the RET, electricity prices will halve tomorrow, kickstarting manufacturing, smelting and even recycling. Plus we can meet our international agreements by growing more trees, which costs nothing.

Abbott would make a fine US or UK ambassador. He does have a Masters from Oxford in International Politics and degrees in economics and law. Plus he would be a perfect person to negotiate with Donald Trump to Make Australia Great again.

I also expect that Christians are not happy with being second class citizens in a Christian country. Especially the huge Catholic school system so hated by extremists. The Israel Folau sacking is just one example of outrageous corporate overreach against Christians on matters which have nothing to do with them. The attack on free speech is appalling, especially in Universities where Dr. Ridd was sacked simply for expressing his professional opinion, a right which was guaranteed in writing by his former employer.

Abbott as US ambassador. That makes perfect sense. He would be welcomed at the White House, if not by the swamp.

Tony Abbott is famous as the man who stopped the boat invasion, when everyone said it could not be done. Significantly, a task performed by Morrison. He is also famous as the one who lectured European leaders on the dangers of uncontrolled immigration. He would have great standing with Trump and many in Europe today.

It was Abbott’s former boss, John Howard who said a country should have the right to say who comes and under what conditions. What on earth is wrong with that statement?

He would get on very well with Trump’s administration who seek to dismantle the Globalists control of their country, from the Koch brothers to Hollywood to the new internet media barons of Google, Facebook and Youtube and Twitter.

As for Climate Change, Abbott is on record as publicly saying it is crap and that we could meet our obligation by just growing trees. Right on both counts. We can hope Morrison withdraws from Paris, along with Brazil and Indonesia. The Norther Hemisphere can then solve their own imaginary CO2 problems as we should not pay a tax on their emissions.

The real damage done by the Shorten years is how this low life socialist union lawyer hack brought down some quality Labor representatives, the true leader of the Labor party Anthony Albanese, the man chosen by the rank and file of Labor was rejected by the union movement, Tanya Plibersek and Penny Wong, pillars of moderate Labor were reduced to anti Abbott attack dogs to support the ACTU socialist agenda.

The “reforms” that Kevin Rudd agreed to on the election of Labor leaders has allowed the ACTU to control the Labor party and make the elected members opinions irrelevant. Labor is no longer the workers party, it is now a totalitarian socialist party.

The union movement has manipulated Labor into irrelevance.
