Hands up who wants to be a serf?

Good people could use classes to stand up to absurdly hypocritical accusations

It doesn’t matter what narcissistic hypocrites say, good team-player-type folk seem to apologize so fast, it’s like a reflex.

Australia needs a Fox. When SkyNews was tested with Ross Cameron’s four word breach of “permitted” lines, they failed. How big would their ratings be if they stood for something that matters, like free speech, instead of being afraid of breaching rules set by people with no principles.

To paraphrase:

The whole conversation is an absurdity…

People who laud Bill Clinton accuse others of supporting sexism.

People who want race based rules accuse those who don’t of racism.

The lefts main goal is controlling what you think. They ban unapproved thoughts.

The left demand total conformity.

…never bow to the mob.

The group-thinking Left mob today,
Would control what we think, do and say,
Deny us debate,
Call opposing views ‘hate’,
Taking all hard won freedoms away.

The best middle finger we have is well worded dissent backed with a confident attitude, the eventual goal of the left is to silence people by force but while democratic rights exist bullying or underhanded methods is all they have so not only is standing up to them morally right is also a matter of survival for anyone that values the personal liberties they have and currently enjoy.

The left only have words, we need to undermine the philosophy of the green/left with good humour and empirical evidence to back it up.

‘The left-wing media’s rumor mill has been rumbling in recent weeks like an upset stomach in need of an antacid at the thought President Donald Trump will soon form a Presidential Commission on Climate Security (PCCS) to objectively examine the science behind the oft-repeated claim humans are causing dangerous climate change.’

Violence is only acceptible in the absolute need to *defend* your own life, or that of your family.

The Left think we are push overs who wont grind them into the dirt nose first when it counts. We can.

The Left have hassled people for a long time, and people have politely put up with it – with restraint.

Never mistake meekness, for weakness, I always say.

Violence is the refuge of those whose argument has been defeated. i.e. their violent actions are a result of them being unable to sustain a rational argument to support their position. So rather than accept that they might be mistaken, they “defend” the indefensible by trying to silence a valid argument by violence against those with a better argument.

Comedic derision seems useful. Maybe that is all there is?
Rational debate and argument appear nearly pointless, but they aren’t. Like the slow drip of water they eventually erode the rock.

At a conference recently I listened to a keynote speaker from the University of Washington hand-wavingly apologise to audience in NZ for the polarisation of ‘my President’, blaming him for his poor example and the subsequent decline in wider civility, nicety and manners. She appeared to forget that this has arisen solely and intentionally as the result of the Left’s orchestrated Alinsky strategy, hoping that by controlling the language you control the people.

An eminent and experienced medical academic, she sadly displayed the predictable and selective recall that omitted Clinton’s ‘basket of deplorables‘, Kathy Griffin’s severed head, Robert de Niro’s ‘Fcuk Trump‘, and Samantha Bee’s ‘feckless cnut‘ to name but a few.

But Fox News has genuflected to the progressives before. Laura Inghram was forced to apologize for some minor infraction of the hidden rules laid down by the left. And the reason she was forced to apologize was not that she wanted to but the left got to, and brought immense pressure against, the sponsers of her show.

Fox and Tucker Carlson can stand up and sound tough but if the sponsers leave, they are all forced to cower. When the Republicans start using the same tactics to alienate lefty blowhards from their sponsers, I’ll believe that Fox, Tucker Carlson and the Republicans have grown a spine.

In the mean time, only Trump seems to have the cahones to stand up to the progressives. He may be a big egoist, but he’s got my vote

        You’ve hit the core issue.

Trump, for all his human failings, is doing some good for the people who populate Real America.

All that America seemed to have before that was a fight between Dems and Reps to see who could fill their own pockets the fastest.

Sadly and dispiritingly, what we’ve got in Australia are the Labs and Libs doing the same. The noose is tightening with No leader willing to address and stop the plunder.

Australia once had a bright, egalitarian, future but now what damage the politicians don’t inflict on us directly is made up for by the damage to legitimate business done by officious “public servants” acting on their own in the name of Gaiia.

WA and QLD are suffering from the activism that infests our governments.

The Lucky Country is no more and if common sense doesn’t return soon, we will be The Sad Country.

Flakey Electricity, Super expensive electricity and no water because there are no dams, Gaia said “no dams”, and damned replacements, aka Desalination plants that rarely work and are a sure thing for the National Millstone Award of 2020.

Ahhhh…so you are aware of and able ot interpret all the evidence presented to the jury by both the defense and prosecution lawyers and all the advice given to the jury by the judge then??

If you are not? Then your inference as to the innocence of the properly convicted pedophile George Pell is unsupportable and merely an uniformed opinion. Which you of course have a complete right to express and the responsibility to accept that it will get the respect it deserves.

Cardinal Pell holds a packed press conference in 1996 about how the church is launching a program to deal with paedophiles.
Supposedly just two months later he molests two ungroomed boys in an open door space in the cathedral.
One of the boys tells his mother twice that nothing ever happened.
The other doesn’t make any claim til he is 30 years old and the compensation schemes are in full swing.
The conviction is one the LOWEST points in Australian judicial history.

With respect, the Rule of Law has not yet been extinguished in Australia – notwithstanding the green/left subversives’ attempts.

There is an appeal process that’s a fundamentally important part of the justice system in this country.

Cardinal Pell has appealed the decision, as is his right in a civilized society that operates under the Rule of Law.

You should hold your prejudicial diatribe until such time as the appeal has been finalized.

I’ve been on quite a few juries, most of us have…. and from the evidence available from the court transcripts. those 12 people made an awful mistake. A terrible, tragic verdict.

Cardinal Pell was never going to receive a fair trial in Australia after the Catholic church has been selectively and repeatedly maligned and attacked, made subject to a Royal Commission and received a media lynching in the public arena for the past decade.

The statistics do not show that Catholic clergy are the worst offenders for child sexual abuse. Yet they were singled out in the Royal Commission and vilified in the media exclusively for years….. It’s little wonder 12 people on a jury came to the decision that they did on no evidence except testimony from a man with a checkered history.

The standard for guilt is beyond reasonable doubt. A case based entirely on testimony without corroboration, is not good evidence and leaves a massive margin for doubting that testimony…. and beyond reasonable doubt, is the required standard for guilt.

An innocent man is in jail tonight…. and will most probably die there. I don’t see how he can win an appeal, when he can lose on such substandard evidence. It will be down to the fact of whether his trial was flawed procedurally or not and I can’t see how the judiciary will admit that Pell was never going to treated fairly by 12 people who really aren’t his peers.

Australia’s Dreyfus Affair as far as I am concerned… Just a Catholic Cardinal instead of a Jewish Officer.

        163

I’ve never been in doubt as to the bad inclinations and deeds of a number of Catholic clerics. Gustavo Vera and his relationship with the very top man is a particular worry, to say the least.

Yet when I heard about the Pell case I was surprised that after so many missed shots at the bloke they had actually found something very substantial against him.

However, I then looked at the available facts of the offense – since I can’t give consideration to unavailable facts. The details offered may be true, but my God they are improbable and verging on the farcical. It’s as if someone had decided if they were going to make a production they may as well do it in Cinerama and Technicolor, with robes, crowns and togas. As for his lawyer’s utterances about “vanilla”…

In the circumstances, I think it’s okay for the likes of Bolt to speak out. Really, the more we speak our true minds the better. In the previous post I did not feel like losing more conservative friends by saying what I thought of US adventurism. But what’s the point of complaining about the hive mind of the GeeUp Left if we ourselves rigidly follow a line laid down by Fox/Sky/Murdoch/2GB etc? That’s how we ended up accepting the ghastly plutocrat Turnbull. Even Bolt, while in the pay of Murdoch, Sky and 2GB, didn’t follow that line.

On all kinds of topics, I don’t want to decide-by-following. I just want to decide. All the media and millions of people are of the opinion that a plane has crashed in Ethiopia. I’ve looked and looked at photos and simply don’t believe it. For me, there is no plane there, just some improbable decor. I’m not saying I’m right or that I understand. I’m saying I don’t see a plane or any convincing signs of a plane.

Call me nuts, call me wrong. But hear me. You know what they say about a consensus…

Whatever anyone thinks of Cardinal Pell as to his guilt or innocence or the credibility of his accuser or the unlikelihood of his story, Pell was convicted without any evidence and without any corroboration. That is an appalling thing to happen to anyone. It was a lynching. No, I will not apologise.

      203

Also as far as I am aware, his accuser did not even have to front the jury so they could judge his credibility, given it was one man’s word against another.
So all they had was a recording of the first trial. Unlike the first jury, they judged Pell alone. Why?

I don’t see why he can remain virtually anonymous when the charges are so serious.
There are references to his troubled life.
I get the distinct impression he is/was a heroin addict with a criminal record.
And his legal team don’t want us to know the details of that.
I’m guessing the part of his story about him sneaking in to drink the altar wine before the “incident” is the only true bit.

However for the left your vocal disagreement or asking for a debate is somehow the worst act a human can commit simply because they say so, I won’t go into moderation for my response to them but it isn’t witty or pretty.

Just like the green movement of old, the Left have been invaded by the old Marxists as a vehicle to their political cause of global socialism – and it’s working because some people are weak-minded and stupid. Scared to stand up for themselves so they kowtow to their friends’ beliefs to avoid ostracism and allowing the sickness to spread. Others simply see a chance for power, prestige and heroism, no matter how fake it is and looks they’ll have supporters, the very fools mentioned earlier. Without supporters they’d have nothing.

Apparently there’s no longer free speech allowed here in Oz, at least for “persons” (corporations), but if you know how to be a “man” or “woman” then “legally” they can’t touch you.

Kim Beazley in 1990 clearly told us all that the UN had plans for Oz “when” we became a republic. You won’t own or have allodial title to anything. It’ll all belong to the State (UN). If your children have birth (berth) certificates, then the State owns them already. Just try taking them out of school no matter how bad the PC and Climate Change™©® religious indoctrination gets. They’ll be institutionalised. They’re already wards of the State because they’re “registered”. Any time you “register” something with the State, they now hold allodial title. “Reg” / “Regis” means “Crown”. Same with your car. All you get in return is a “certificate” of registration. And with your car, you still have to pay for all the upkeep and the loan to get it. But the State holds actual title and will crush it if you flout the “rules” enough.

What worries me most is that the busiest and most influential intellectuals are all bunglers, and bunglers because they are completely deaf and blind to human nature. The “sharing” culture is a perfect example. Think of a snippy, quietly angry Swedish woman (a lot of those!) breezily explaining to a rapt TED audience (punish me, Ingrid!) how one doesn’t need ownership or even occupancy of a home because one can simply rotate the humans through it to get maximum use. There’s an app for that! And a rating system!

Ingenuity that never meets common sense or common experience is worse than ignorance, worse than madness.

Has any era had worse theorists? Maybe but…

Brzezinski thought it would be a good idea to train up middle eastern religious fanatics to transact any awkward stuff; McNamara thought you should run a war the way you manufacture and market cars; Kissinger saw China as a manufacturing sink so the US could concentrate on consumption; Kalergi thought humans were sardines that just needed to breed out irregularities…and so on.

The worst are full of passionate intensity, as Yeats said. And he might have added that they are colossal bunglers, for the obvious reason that they have zero perception of the most obvious thing of all: human nature.

In legal terms, “human” is described as a monster. Human is considered “hue-man”, the colour of man, invented by the legal system and therefore imaginary and not real in the flesh. If you’ve ever heard the term “colour of law” it’s the same thing. Would anyone want to be “human”..?

In my culture, no-one is safe from any verbal abuse except incitement to violence. It’s not just allowed, but encouraged, to laugh at the foibles of anyone and everyone, for any reason. Race, sex, sexual preference, religion – nothing and no-one is exempt and all should expect to also have their barbed retort said with the same gusto, while onlookers grin and join the fun.
This culture is being ruthlessly suppressed by it’s own government no less, and seems destined to slowly fade away.

Ah well, Australian culture was good while it lasted, wasn’t it…

    Jo,

Thanks for putting this up and for the summary.

    Unfortunately he isn’t exaggerating.

Over 20 years ago I read a book about the French Revolution which outlined the sides taken on the issue by family members.

It showed that eldest of the family took a position opposing later born siblings. A fascinating thing which pitted people within the same family against each other.

It was all about how people could perceive the same facts differently because of a slightly different upbringing within the same family. Weird stuff.

Perception of the current situation world wide may possibly show the same effect.

I am not a Tucker Carlson fan.

I have tried to watch his show several
times and did not like it. He invites liberals
on his show and tries to debate them.

That tends to cause liberals to talk faster and louder,
spitting out talking points, and not allowing
time for a calm discussion. Two people talking over
each other is a nightmare to me.

I tried Carlson again to see what he was
going to say about the new controversy.

I ended up watching the entire show —
much better than anything he’s done
in the past, that I’ve seen.

The climate change cult started in the
late 1950s, and accelerated since the
IPCC was formed in the late 1980s.

It is based on nothing more than
wrong wild guess predictions of a
      coming climate catastrophe … and
      character attacking anyone who asks
      questions of disagrees.

That makes climate change junk science.

      Only stupid people would continue
      to believe scary climate predictions
after more than 60 years of them,
      or very gullible people.

I wonder if you fit any of those categories?

I don’t understand the appeal of radio shock jocks,
or why anyone would say anything in public they
wouldn’t want their mother to hear.

But then if everyone was judged by the worst things
they ever did, or said, 30 or more years ago,
a lot of people would be in trouble.

No matter how one dances around, the simple fact is the Left practices fascism on a daily basis. Where it cannot simple dictate speech, information, and thought control, they use massive campaigns of intimidation. And these are, in fact, conceived and implemented by professionals. Every day. All the time. It will continue until they, in fact, achieve the perfect State.

Agreed, the left have always been Fascists. The Fascists have always been socialists. After they lost to the Russian Communists and the American Capitalists, they were called right wing, as are all conservatives. The left will never concede they gain power by violence and that they are the caring, loving sort of people who fight for everyone’s rights, when in fact they prohibit free speech, tell everyone what to think and grab everyone’s property as their own, impoverishing whole countries. Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Cambodia.

The big difference with China is that they have embraced their own form of communist capitalism.

There are two outstanding women who have been brought low by this. Last week Martina Navratilova said it was unfair for men to play against women. She apologized the next day.
Germaine Greer said that ‘chopping your d*ck off does not make you a woman’. She is no longer welcome at universities.

The fact is that men who want to be women are fighting for their alleged rights as women who are not men but identify as men. It’s all so Monty Python.. Also as men they are much more aggressive than women in demanding their alleged rights. Real women are now being driven out of the women’s movement by men, but no one sees the irony in that.

And then people complain that the family unit is trashed by the left, using other foolishness like the gender merry go round?

At some point, people have to grow a spine and shove back onthe Left and tell them “enough”!

13 Mar: Fox News: Hillary Clinton investigators were told Obama DOJ ‘not willing to charge’ her on key espionage statute: internal chart
    by Gregg Re, Catherine Herridge
An internal chart prepared by federal investigators working on the so-called “Midyear Exam” probe into Hillary Clinton’s emails, exclusively reviewed by Fox News, contained the words “NOTE: DOJ not willing to charge this” next to a key statute on the mishandling of classified information. The notation appeared to contradict former FBI Director James Comey’s repeated claims that his team made its decision that Clinton should not face criminal charges independently.
Fox News has confirmed the chart served as a critical tip that provided the basis for Texas Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe’s explosive questioning of former FBI lawyer Lisa Page last year, in which Page agreed with Ratcliffe’s characterization that the DOJ had told the FBI that “you’re not going to charge gross negligence.” A transcript of Page’s remarks was published Tuesday as part of a major document release by the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Georgia Rep. Doug Collins…

From climate to gender to evidence in a trial to free speech, it is hammered that facts and logic do not matter. You must believe victims. You must believe what you are told by the UN, EU, Greens, the media. Science is under threat from people who have never studied science with Peter Ridd fired for telling the truth, no less. Trump vilified as a racist for declaring an emergency at the border. The third most senior Catholic is jailed without a shred of proven evidence. Democratic Israel denounced as a totalitarian dictatorship by totalitarian dictatorships and we are told Venezuela is a model socialist economy. Only the last is supported by the facts.

Rational science is about evidence based reasoning. It is about the provable facts and explanations which must be supported by facts and based in turn on other truths also supported by proveable facts. It is anaethema to socialism which is absolute power at the top and zero rights at the bottom, as with heroes Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Maduro. The most outrageous denial of the truth is Global Warming, a totally manufactured science based not on facts but on socialism. You are not allowed disagree. Disagreement makes you a denier. Orwell predicted this and few are fighting it.

Now we have had the Pell show trial, convicted by public opinion sculpted over decades by the press. We are told men are women. Women are men. Everyone who is white is a racist and no one else is racist. What’s next? Local tribunals for deniers, academics and people who will not conform? It is why the Americans have their second and fourth amendments. They fear not their neighbours but an all powerful state. All the free world relies on America to defend them, but who defends Americans?

The slow march of the socialists through the institutions is near complete. The truth has been vanquished as illegal. Employees are being reeducated forcibly about their white privilege. The UN’s long plan to take over is coming to fruition after decades of planning and England is run by politicians like May who refuse to listen to the people. At present Donald Trump seems the last hope of the free world to resist the forces of the left. In Australia Abbott still terrifies the left and he must be removed, no matter the cost.

Democracy is not in a good place when politicians all act from extreme self interest, not as representatives of the people. Now we are told our party girl Foreign Minister Julie Bishop was a victim too. Like Gail Kelly, the former head of Westpac and another victim for years on a miserly $8Million a year for doing her job. Terrible discrimination. Like Global Warming, it must all be fixed at our great expense and we must open our borders. No.

This is written in a house built by migrants, in a city built by migrants in a land where nothing was done for 50,000 years to improve the place. I am supposed to give thanks and recognition to the traditional owners? No.

Yawn! Aren’t we just getting just a little jaded by these petty attacks on, so called, “Right Wing” media outlets? Isn’t it about time someone did a little investigating on exactly how these advertisers suddenly became concerned about the message rather than the ratings of a particular show? Exactly, who is putting pressure on advertisers? And, why aren’t they, and their organisations exposed?

    60

    • #
      PeterS

They don’t give a damn what people think. Such advertisers are only interested in propagandising their fake stories at any cost. It will take more than an investigation to stop them as they are on a roll and loving it. We need a national leader with a backbone to call it for what it is and act accordingly. Unfortunately, we don’t have one. If we did the ABC would be shut down, sold off or at least severely curtailed by now for being so biased and a major outlet of fake news.

Those of you demanding that we accept the jury’s verdict in the Pell case without question should reflect on the fact that our entire legal system is built around the principle that we cannot trust fallible human beings.

We have courts because we cannot trust a random group of citizens.
We have juries because we cannot trust appointed officials.
We have rules of evidence and procedure because we cannot trust everyone involved to assess everting fairly and appropriately just by following their natural inclinations.

We have an Appeals Process because we cannot automatically trust all of the above.

ALL of the above has been demonstrated so often throughout history that it should be axiomatic. We need checks and balances to counter our own fallibility.

No…. this is not an argument for anarchy on the grounds that if we should do nothing for fear of making mistakes. But we DO need to avoid a blind trust in persons and systems.

A free and just society has never been created by demanding that the serfs should never argue with their betters. The king is naked.

“Grid congestion fears as solar, wind projects surge”
“The pipeline of solar, wind and battery storage projects in Australia has surged to record levels with double the capacity added in the first two months of 2019 from the same period last year, in a boost likely to add to congestion concerns in parts of the electricity grid.”
“Some 6650 megawatts of new capacity was announced in January and February, propelling the nation’s potential renewable output to 100,000 megawatts including already installed green generation.” Huh – 100,000 MW? The AEMO grid only requires 24,000 MW average, 34,000 peak.

“The surge in both the pipeline and output is raising congestion issues in areas such as northwestern Victoria and western NSW.” “A draft ruling on “marginal loss factors” in the network — representing the increasing losses incurred when electricity moves between power stations and market customers in remote parts of the grid — has caused alarm within parts of the industry”.

Its actuially pretty clever…crank up the price of power by shutting down generating capacity, people put solar on, grid collapses….only solar and wind remain.

followup to Greg in NZ reply #9.1 re NZ Green Party/Minister for Climate Change, James Shaw, being attacked. read all of the piece Greg posted.

14 Mar: Stuff New Zealand: Green Party co-leader James Shaw attacker ‘yelling about United Nations’ – Parker
    by Henry Cooke
A man who staged an “unprovoked” attack on Green Party co-leader James Shaw was yelling about the United Nations, according to fellow minister David Parker.
Parker said Shaw had told him the perpetrator was “shouting things out about the United Nations.”
Shaw was assessed at the scene as OK by ambulance staff and continued on his way to work for a ministerial meeting. He is understood to have suffered a black eye.
In a text to Stuff, Shaw said his injury ***”looks worse than it is”…

haw’s press secretary Peter Stevens said it was not clear whether the Green Party co-leader would be at work on Friday.

Shaw wanted to be present at Friday’s school climate strike but had been given the opportunity to rest and recover overnight before deciding on whether he would attend, Stevens said…

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with “injuring with intent to injure”.
Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee said he would appear in Wellington District Court on Friday…
Police had now spoken to Shaw, who had some ***”fairly nasty injuries”, McKee said…

***ABC cleverly writes “recent” & gives a trite example of another “instance”:

plenty of “blame” on the Nationals at the link to Simon Bridges Tweet; then someone mentions a previous attack on a National Party MP!

    Wikipedia: Dail Jones
Jones is known as one of the few New Zealand MPs to have been injured in a politically motivated attack; in 1980, while serving as a National Party MP, he was stabbed in the chest by an elderly constituent in his electorate office leaving him with a punctured lung. The assailant, Ambrose Tindall, was obsessed about a traffic ticket totaling $15.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dail_Jones

BBC totally omits he went off to work before he visited the hospital:

14 Mar: BBC: James Shaw attack: New Zealand climate minister punched in face
Green Party co-leader James Shaw was punched in the face early on Thursday in Wellington, though was not seriously injured…
A Green party spokesperson described the attack as unprovoked and said Mr Shaw, who suffered a black eye, went to the hospital for a precautionary check-up…
It is still unclear if the attack on Mr Shaw was politically motivated, but Trade Minister David Parker told local media the attacker “was shouting things out about the United Nations”…
Lawmakers of all political stripes expressed shock and concern over the incident

    wow!

14 Mar: Daily Caller: Left-Wing SPLC Abruptly Fires Co-Founder Morris Dees
    by Peter Hasson
The group, which is known to label pedestrian conservative organizations as “hate groups,” is a key resource for Amazon, Google and other tech companies in policing “hate speech.”…
“Effective yesterday, Morris Dees’ employment at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was terminated. As a civil rights organization, the SPLC is committed to ensuring that the conduct of our staff reflects the mission of the organization and the values we hope to instill in the world,” SPLC President Richard Cohen said in a statement released to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“When one of our own fails to meet those standards, no matter his or her role in the organization, we take it seriously and must take appropriate action,” Cohen said.

Cohen’s statement hinted that Dees’ firing was related to the nonprofit’s internal climate.
“Today we announced a number of immediate, concrete next steps we’re taking, including bringing in an outside organization to conduct a comprehensive assessment of our internal climate and workplace practices, to ensure that our talented staff is working in the environment that they deserve – one in which all voices are heard and all staff members are respected,” Cohen said…

Dees’ firing was first reported by the Montgomery Advertiser, which added that the SPLC has already scrubbed Dees’ biography from their website. SPLC staffers had previously accused Dees of racism, the Advertiser noted.(RELATED: SPLC Pays Out Millions To Group It Wrongly Labeled Bigoted)

I’ve notice that people from the left can be more than one “anti-ism” but they can’t be more than one at the same time. For example, anti-racism and anti-sexism. If a group wants to protest against members of a particular religion being allowed to enter Australia, the left will organise a protest against racism. If someone whose views are deemed to be sexist, wants to come to Australia, the left will organise a protest. But what if the male members of the particular religion are among the most sexist in the world, where are the left then, why do they not protest against sexism then

now for the biggest story today! lol.
posted on jo’s Peter Ridd thread recently about John Podesta being in NZ, etc.

checked TV menu this morning 8an for Indian Wells tennis times; not until later, so clicked on Sky News Australia (first time ever in the morning) planning to then turn off the TV. instead, there was –

John Podesta, guest for nearly 20 mins on AM Agenda, with Kieran Gilbert & Laura Jayes (who looked particularly thrilled).

Podesta: Mueller report vote; Russian collusion 2016, maybe 2020 too; media will need to watch for it? lol, children’s climate strike, etc.

Podesta was followed by Malcolm Turnbull’s son-in-law, James Brown, of US Studies Centre, Uni of Sydney (re Dem 2020 candidates).

    recent speculation:

7 Mar: Spectator US: Beware the Ides of Trump
The Special Counsel may hand in his report on Friday – word is that it will make the case for collusion
    by Cockburn
Update 3/8 1p.m. ET: Latest word from inside the DoJ is to ‘expect nothing’ today or over the weekend about the Mueller report. That might mean that Mueller has not handed in his report as predicted here…

(EARLIER) One former official, passing along information from a ‘100% reliable’ source inside the Department of Justice, tells Cockburn that Robert Mueller will give his report to the Attorney General on Friday. It will make the case for ‘collusion,’ he said, and will not just be about ‘process’ – perjury, obstruction of justice – or financial crimes.
The same former official was also convinced that there would be indictments for one or more of President Trump’s children…

The former director of the CIA, John Brennan, has clearly heard the same. He said as much when he appeared on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show on MSNBC, The Last Word…
‘And,’ he added, ‘this Friday is better than next Friday, because next Friday is the 15th of March, which is the Ides of March, and I don’t think Robert Mueller will want to have that dramatic flair of the Ides of March when he’ll be delivering what I think are going to be indictments, the final indictments, as well as the report to the Attorney General.’…
On MSNBC, Brennan appeared to choose his words deliberately…
Lawrence O’Donnell told his viewers they really had to ‘listen to every word’ of Brennan’s carefully…

followup to comment in moderation re John Podesta in Australia/US Studies Centre/Uni of Sydney etc:

21 Sept 2015: AFR: Washington watching Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over China, regional security
    by John Kehoe
The new Prime Minister was warmly welcomed to office by US President Barack Obama via telephone last week…
Turnbull has deep connections in American politics and business, dating back to his reign as a Goldman Sachs partner in the late 1990s…
Turnbull, who has a deep interest in international affairs, is definitely a supporter of the long-standing US-Australia alliance. His wife Lucy is deputy chairwoman of the US Studies Centre…

Turnbull’s multilateral instinct and less-hawkish views of China, including creating room for Beijing to play a greater role in international institutions, while encouraging it to conform to international rules, are broadly in line with the Obama pivot to Asia.
The two leaders share similar views on climate change and gay marriage…

Perhaps no one is more optimistic about his ascension than Kurt Campbell, the former assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and one of the architects of the Obama administration’s Asia pivot.
“He will be an impressive force on the international stage and elevate Australia’s role,” Campbell says.
Campbell has enjoyed numerous discussions with Turnbull about geopolitics, world economics, technology and the huge potential of India.
Acknowledging it is “undeniable” that Turnbull has close ties to China, Campbell refutes suggestions the new Prime Minister will tilt Australia away from the US, arguing it “could not be further from the truth”…

    Maintained friendships
“He knows the rest of south-east and north-east Asia well and he has maintained friendships, business and personal ties with the United States for years.”
Turnbull knows John Podesta, a former senior adviser to presidents Bill Clinton and Obama and current chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
His friendship with Campbell, a close ally of Hillary Clinton, would hold the bilateral relationship in good stead if she becomes president…

14 Mar: Washington Examiner: Byron York: With Mueller office emptying, dramatic predictions remain unfulfilled
John Brennan: “I wouldn’t be surprised if, for example, this week on Friday — not knowing anything about it— but Friday is the day the grand jury indictments come down. And this Friday is better than next Friday, because next Friday is the 15th of March, which is the ides of March,” Brennan told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell. “And I don’t think Robert Mueller will want to have that dramatic flair of the ides of March when he is going to be delivering what I think are going to be are his indictments — the final indictments — as well the report.”…

And now comes news that Mueller’s top deputy, Andrew Weissmann — also known as the special counsel’s “legal pit bull” — will leave the office within the next few days…
Also, the FBI recently announced that Mueller’s top investigator, David Archey, has left Mueller to take a top job with the bureau in Richmond, Va.
The departure of not one but two of Mueller’s key staff — along with other aides who have moved on in recent weeks — fueled speculation that the special counsel is wrapping up his investigation. “[Weissmann’s] departure is the strongest sign yet that Mueller and his team have all but concluded their work,” said NPR, which first reported the news…

Had there been such a conspiracy, it seems reasonable to assume that the people Mueller charged — Manafort, Gates, Flynn, Cohen, Stone — would have been part of it, or at least would have known about it. Yet Mueller investigated and charged them all with crimes that were unrelated to the election or with lying to investigators. The special counsel has not alleged that any took part in an election conspiracy…

In any event, if there are no further indictments, that will undoubtedly be a disappointment to those in the Resistance and Never Trump worlds who hoped to see people close to the president face charges.
It’s always important to be modest about knowing Mueller’s plans. He has surprised observers before. He might still now. But the departures of key investigators suggest that probe is reaching its end.

14 Mar: ABC7 Chicago: Jussie Smollett update: Texts shed light on why State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself
CHICAGO (WLS) — Texts messages obtained by ABC7 Eyewitness News offer new insight into why Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx recused herself from the Jussie Smollett case.
The State’s Attorney’s Office said she recused herself after having a conversation with a relative of Smollett about the case.
Foxx announced her recusal on Feb. 20, and that same day a spokesperson released a statement to ABC News, telling them, “Out of an abundance of caution, the decision to recuse herself was made to address potential questions of impartiality based upon familiarity with potential witnesses in the case.”

According to the text messages obtained by ABC7 from the State’s Attorney’s office, the Smollett family was worried about leaks in the investigation and reached out to Foxx through a politically-connected lawyer.
The family wanted Foxx to ask Chicago police to request that the FBI take over the lead in the investigation…

In a statement Wednesday afternoon, Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said, “the FBI was working on that investigation from day one. There was never a point where the FBI could take the entire investigation on because there was no evidence produced to support Smollett’s claim of a hate crime.”…

14 Mar: USA Today: After Michelle Obama’s former aide’s urging, prosecutor pushed for FBI to investigate Smollett
    by Aamer Madhani
CHICAGO – After being contacted by a former senior Obama administration official, the Chicago-area’s top prosecutor last month requested that the city police turn over their investigation of an alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett to the FBI, according to texts and emails released by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Tina Tchen, who worked as former first lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff during her time in the White House, first contacted Kim Foxx by text on Feb. 1 and said the actor’s family had “concerns” about the investigation, according to the communications. Tchen, a Chicago-based attorney, is also the co-founder of the Times Up Legal Defense Fund.
At the time of the correspondence, Smollett was still considered by police to be the victim of an assault…

“Spoke to the Superintendent Johnson,” Foxx emailed Tchen on Feb. 1, referring to the city’s top cop, Eddie Johnson. “I convinced him to Reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation.”
Foxx also texted with one of Smollett’s relatives, whose name was redacted in copies of the communication released by her office.
“Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask,” Foxx wrote. “Trying to figure out logistics. I’ll keep you posted.”
The relative responded, “Omg this would be a huge victory.”
“I make no guarantees, but I’m trying,” Foxx replied back.
Foxx recused herself from the investigation before Smollett was charged. Her first deputy, Joe Magats, is overseeing the case…

Foxx said in an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times that Smollett’s family was concerned that aspects of the police investigation were being leaked to media.
“They had no doubt about the quality of the investigation, but believed that the FBI would have a tighter lid on the information,” Foxx told the outlet…
Tchen did not respond to a request for comment.

Tucker Carlson has become the hard hitting interviewer that Bill O’Reilly started out to be and then went wrong — in more ways than one. He’s been learning steadily.

But I wish he would stop agreeing with some half baked liberal that, “…it’s a discussion we need to have,” when he’s talking to a fool who thinks it’s OK to give the vote to 16 year olds and similar utter nonsense that good judgment rejects out of hand. We give them an inch, they take a mile. But they never give us an inch. Sorry but politics is always and only about power to get things your way. You never give the other guy that inch he needs to use as leverage to get another inch because soon they own you.

As for Republicans being scared of Democrats, of course they are. They all buddy, buddy with each other at the same watering holes and worse, they need each other’s help in getting favored bills passed. And worse than that, they fear the character assassination and all that goes with it. The senate is a shameful mess at this very moment.

I think Donald Trump is the only living soul in DC who fears no one and that’s because he owes no one.

And now that I’ve praised Tucker I wonder just what limits his bosses have placed on him. How far will he chase a bad idea down it’s hole in the ground before he’s under pressure to stop.
