UPDATE: The Australian reports that the Nationals offices, have received more then 10,000 messages of support in the past two days, including many requests for membership forms and multiple requests that the party stand candidates. It would appear that the electorate is shifting already.

Clearly being against the ETS is not as politically unpopular as some would make it out to be.

You won’t get any converts here Matt. If the Greens ever gained power in Oz it wouldn’t be too long before the boat people started the journey homeward. Those left would enjoy all the benefits of a Pol Pot hell on earth because that’s the only way you could implement the type of policies the Greens espouse. Of course, you would order a few ‘dancing-in-the-street’ festivals to lighten the mood from time to time. Non-attendance on pain of execution.

I see nothing touchy-feely about you lot Matt.

Not long back the economic report came in about Spain. The green influenced policies there have resulted in 19% unemployment. Great achievement eh Matt?

If you were really honest you would state that there is no empirical or observed evidence that would shake the scales off your eyes. Just go away, you’re not in the least amusing.

Is there such a thing as a well designed ETS?

Any open market that has a profit incentive will ultimately be overtaken by the speculators. The carbon market is primarily for producers and manufacturers to buy their ‘carbon’ offsets to cover them for a given time period, if the speculators can (and they will) disrupt the liquidity of these carbon credits volatility is introduced so profitability is enhanced.

Speculators and Traders LOVE volatility, manufacturers and producers don’t. We’re all going to be held hostage when this becomes Enronised.
